Challenge 139: Illustrated Info: What Makes a Magical Girl (Sakura Kinomoto)
When I initially landed on this concept I wasn’t sure if I wanted to make it a super generic magical girl guide or get specific with it. As time went on though I totally gave in and went with my absolute favorite, Sakura Kinomoto. 🌸 Once that was decided the only difficult part was choosing which costume/ outfit I’d use XP

Designs for Sakura's formal wear
I imagine that she only really wears qipao dresses or dresses that are quite modest, and all of her formal wear is long sleeved. I can see her wearing pants underneath all the dresses she wears too
What other shounin series you think sakura couldve benefitted in terms of writing if she was in that universe instead?🤔
The only other Shounen I've read or seen enough of to make a judgement is Demon Slayer, which I've finished and really loved the writing of. The way the mangaka wrote the characters really makes you feel for them, even the "bad guys" got me emotional, the only character I didn't feel fully for was Rengouku but I think that's just because he wasn't around for long. I still felt for him though in some way. In the writing of Demon Slayer, I could see her benefiting in some ways, the characters are really well fleshed out in Demon Slayer and the backstories are very emotional, and if given to Sakura it could do her good but some original elements of her character may be lost. Simply because KNY and Naruto have different worlds, world building and character building. Also, I think it's important to note that even if her world was changed, she'd still get hate just like Kanroji Mitsuri getting hate for having a family that's alive.

So glad that people realized Sakura's (and Chiyo's) strength ! This was a incredible fight with many reversals of situation and it shows Sakura's abilities (strength, heals, intelligence, able to dodge attacks) and her courage, willingness and determination.

Sakura and her bats (Kanata and Sakura).
If anyone's curious, she's got lichtenberg figures/scarring over her left eye from the chidori.
That time Sakura threw herself in between Naruto and Sasuke's rooftop fight and Kakashi wasn't there to stop them in time.
Tsunade was able to save her hearing and most of her nerves, but her eyes were a very unfortunate casualty.
Now she's a civilian and has to figure out what to do with herself.
Sakura gets some new (summons) friends- after all, who better to teach her how to thrive with impaired vision than bats? (They're also happy to read stuff for her when Enji's busy)

Replay the game by creating a character that looks like Haruno Sakura. It was a perfect fit since there are cherry blossom-themed weapons and armor - wagasa/umbrella and maul (I like how they make it look like a axe for the maul lol). - Game: Wild Hearts (2023)
Got a bunch of questions asking about Enji's (and later, Sakura's dojutsu.)
So Enji's dojutsu is part of a set, the Kikaigan, the Kokaigan, and the Madogan. They all technically fall under his Kekkei Genkai (name WIP so if you've got ideas, I'd love to hear them).
As the infographic says, the Kikaigan can see up to five seconds into the future, while the Kokaigan does the same in the past. Both eyes, like most dojutsu, continually drain chakra while they're active (and the chakra pull increases proportionally the further you try to see).
As for the Madogan, opening that third eye allows Enji to see as far into the future/past of a person/location (that he sees or is at) as his chakra stores allow. The final release of the Madogan allows him to jump to that point in time- but at the cost of his chakra reserves.
Enji is physically 46 years old, but he's from 165 years in the past- long before Konoha even existed.
His sister was suffering from an illness that no one knew how to cure, (black plague yay!) so he popped his Madogan and tried to go into the future to find a way to heal her. Unfortunately, the jump obliterated 90% of his chakra reserves and damaged both his eyes in the process. Each jump costs a portion of his chakra reserves, so he will never be able to back to his original time and survive.
So TLDR Enji's on the brink of chakra exhaustion 24/7 and is functioning with only 10% of his original chakra reserves. His vision is absolutely fucked cause he can't turn off his stupid eyes, and he's got a migraine that's been living in his head rent-free for over twenty years. Oh yeah, and he faints like three times a week.
It's one of the reasons he lives in a desolate forest (fewer people) and wears shades (reduces symptoms). Once a year, he makes a trek to Chiyo's to get her help in staving off the worse parts of prolonged chakra exhaustion, but he and Sakura find out that his coils are deteriorating too fast, and he offers his Kikaigan to Sakura because in his words:
"I never want you to see what could have been, only what you can do."
Sakura is able to integrate the dojutsu into her empty eye-socket, though she can only see when its activated. In it's inactive state, it's blind.

Sakura gets her first lesson in Genjutsu with Saeko. Based on the idea that humans have more than 5 basic senses (though there's no real science behind how many, with some saying 21, while others say up to 33).
Saeko is not actually a Hoshigaki- though they are very very distantly related. She is actually a Ningyo (mermaid) exiled from her coven, and living as a pariah, cursed to wander the earth, barred from the seas and rivers until she can get her pearl back.
As a mermaid-siren, she is intimately aware of the power of genjutsu (especially audial) and is a vicious teacher, forcing Sakura through rigorous training to teach her young charge how to understand and control her own senses/emotions before she attempts to do so on others.
Once again, thank you so much to everyone whose shown interest in this AU, you guys are giving me LIFE <3 <3. I'm so happy other people really feel that Sakura deserved a fighting chance. Together, we'll fix her!!!
