One of my favorite parts of that interview was Scott saying that the reason it took so long to find a script he liked was because he wanted to keep the integrity of the innocent spirits inside of the animatronics. They couldn't just be your typical slasher characters because he didn't want to disrespect the fact that the spirits inside the suits are just scared children.
ok so i'm gonna post about something different than the usual, since i've had this on my mind for a long time now. also excuse some fucky typing i just woke up.
i genuinely do not think scott cawthon is a bad person. it was quite a while ago at this point since scott made those donations to those republicans, and i genuinely believe he had no idea what they were doing. two things happened after the post that revealed his donations.
the first was a post scott made defending only the fact he was voting on the right, because at this point he likely thinks that was the only part of the drama. right leaning youtubers and whatnot praised him for "not backing down" and standing with his politics in the face of backlash.
the second happened very shortly after. scott backed down. he announced a pseudo-retirement and has been trying to move the franchise's management to other people (steel wool, clickteam, etc.). this is when he realized those politicians' opinions on the lgbt community was. he donated money to the trevor project and has done so a couple more times since then iirc. i don't know exactly where to see all his donations to charities 'cause he's done so many of them. i know that doesn't fix very much, but this boomer is trying to atone for what he did.
i am aware that he is still likely right leaning due to his christian background (which is interesting considering his seemingly rocky history with christianity, but maybe that's not for us to pry into), but that was also quite a while ago. he also lives in a red state and if you're just a observer that doesn't look too far into politicians you vote for, only using their campaign ads as a reference point, then yeah people might make bad decisions. and scott has somewhat of a bad track record on accidently hiring not-so good people because he just kinda grabs random-ass people who, on the quick glance, made something neat.
scott isn't a bad guy, and he is very much aware of how much of his community is lgbt. he even has many characters in fnaf who definitely stray from the normal hetero stuff. his main focus on voting right-leaning was money/economic concerns (which is still a high focus for people on the right who will blindly vote for someone if they say they've got like a good economic plan or something. capitalism and all that, but that's a whole other topic i'm too tired to talk about).
maybe i'm an idiot. personally, i hate politics in general and how much it tears people apart. i hate this is all a thing that happened in the first place,
bleh. i probably didn't do a good job at trying to defend him. probably should have done this when i was more awake but with fnaf gaining popularity again i've already seen people bring all this up again. just wanted to say something, even if it sounded dumb and idiotic.

• Bonnie’s entire vanity station is filled with Freddy Merch, NO ONE ELSE AND NOT EVEN HIMSELF LIKE THE OTHERS
• Freddy clearly cared DEEPLY about him and couldn’t even bring himself to visit Bonnie Bowl again
• The vent leads RIGHT to Fazerblast…like cmon
• They went out of their way to design Bonnie, also leaving him in a state where he can easily be repaired in the secret room (when you find him) . There is no way we just find him and that’s it
• They did this knowing it would drive shippers crazy. Let’s be real the fnaf community is filled with so many wonderful LGBTQ+ creators, Scott knows this. It’s time we finally get our gay robots we all dreamed of to celebrate our identity’s.
So yeah , I actually prayed to find Bonnie in this game and since Fronnie is my fave ship, my life has meaning again
hello tumblr i'm thinking so so so hard about this answer from directdoggo re: scott cawthon and abel. like hey oh my god what do you mean scott's own kindness kept being what brought everyone together but inevitably the utter horror of that being torn away and having no way to get it back other than to bring scott back is what seperated everyone. it isn't scott's fault for being a good person but if he was worse, maybe lives wouldve been saved, he likely thinks. also scott defended abel scott knew where abel came from (EYES. EYES. EYES. I NEED TO COOK ABEL LORE I NEED TO COOK) scott was the one person who saw abel as anything good. i think abel fundamentally knows he cannot be anything good like scott so he needs scott to be good at all. Ohhh my toxic doomed yaoi [slamming my fists on the ground]
btw scottposting real quick. i headcanon the whole "phones for heads" thing came from the fact that scott was an antique phone collector! abel was the only one who particularly knew about this and ended up getting the collection when scott died. they sat in his closet for a while until he decided "if i'm bringing scott back i'm bringing him back in a way he'll adore, too" in some fashion. the candlestick phone abel got for a head was from scott's collection and one of the few abel kept in his office. nobody else knew the significance of it but now abel's something scott would love too. why isn't he happy?

everything is the same up to scott's death . everyone is fucked up over this and it's initially henry who approaches fazbender's to offer to help them memorialize scott. this is, uh, obviously suspicious, but abel is way too hung up on things to question anything and so it goes through
scott basically becomes henry's first proper soul experimentation, with henry using the body and the soul that "lives on" to test how to potentially bring someone back with memories from the afterlife, or at least to see how emotions function in one's soul. this is kept distant from everyone except for just barely abel, who's kept like... very vaguely in the loop but it's largely just about henry working on his thesis. abel's now pissed off and really confused but henry keeps going You Wanted This, Trust Me
eventually the Scott Memorial Machine is blueprinted and brought to abel and the concept of having scott back instantly makes abel forgo his trepidation. he works on the machine and eventually henry brings in scott's body (which is in disturbingly good condition for how long it's been decaying due to henry constantly fucking with his soul, though henry just says hes been preserving the body and abel's too enthused to care) and the two make 01_01
he's as fucked up as he is in canon. henry makes a disassembly machine and abel takes scott to get broken down. with a combo of abel's desperation to have scott back and henry's desire to research souls and how they can be brought back and help his research, the two continue making phone guys out of springlock suit victims
skip to post-dsaf1 good end, pre-dsaf2. dave is working on the jacktrap plan -- he doesnt really plan on doing it, at least not without jack's consent, but also dave would never ask and a part of him knows jack would be unhappy. he still works on it. a failsafe? some kind of comfort? who knows.
tragically, dave hasn't realized the golden freddy suit he picked out... is the same one half of scott's soul, split in two from the torment and "revival", has been dwelling inside! oops! and this is the half that seems vehement on being The True, Godly Scott, the Ideal Manager,

dave Freaks The Fuck Out and kind of just bails. cinematic parallel of "scott gets ditched in a room in the fazbunker for 30+ years and then dave gets springlocked and jack starts avoiding him for 30+ years". in the meantime scott's other soul half is sitting listlessly in the flipside and doesnt really know what to do -- this half of his soul lacks an identity (i literally portray him as having a black box for a head) because he lost it in the revival and he doesn't quite know what to be or what he's "meant" to be or what he ever was beyond a legacy. he doesnt do much for a while
finally the time for dsaf3 comes close and while davetrap is leaving the fazbunker reality!scott breaks out of the room and insists on being a Good Manager and "not leaving an employee behind, no matter how distressed". davetrap literally cannot shake this guy. reality!scott and davetrap become the Worst Dynamic Duo Ever of davetrap trying to pull his schemes while scott tries to help him. meanwhile jack kennedy is stuck in his neutral end mindset of "WHY DOES ANYTHING MATTER !!" so scott and davetrap are slowly figuring this out. the endgame is "jack gets veered onto the good route" but that's more the job of --
the flipsiders! flipside!scott meets flipside!dave and they get up to similar hijinks of trying to get in touch with jack once the two of them look thru their reality-selves' eyes and see the situation. ruh-roh! better work on getting that depressed substance-abusing husk to focus on the promise and not his own issues. maybe also focus on the issues though
tl;dr: two half-souls in furry suits have a one-sided rivalry. meanwhile the other halves of their souls try to fix the man with the weight of so many dead souls on his shoulder despite the souls being ghosts with little control in the mortal world. yeah
i think a lot about the fact that scott was the first one to sign the contract that signs your life away to fazbender's (the red contract) by the way. and then nobody else even touched the contract until dave and then jack. and we know jack likely did it for the promise once given the chance given how he talks about it in DSaF2 -- it was kinda just a formality. i am curious about dave doing it. i don't think henry made dave do it, since henry was the one killing in fazbender's while dave worked in fredbear's, from how it sounds and what we know. but the fact dave signed his life away to the company after henry bailed on him is SO interesting. ohhh you have no life and so you'll surrender it just to watch the company burn, and as it falls apart, so, too, will any purpose you ever had. dave doesn't even know that jack feels as empty as he does, some days.
anyways i think scott signed the contract when he initially opened fazbender's as a way of showing his dedication to the company and it was solely meant to be a sort of symbolic thing. the red contract was never SUPPOSED to be utilized. but after scott died for good and the company got more and more screwy especially with the emphasis on Remaking Scott, the red contract came back into play for particularly dedicated employees who had gone through fazbender's locations for some time, hence why jack was offerred it by steven.
