Preview: I stood up against him and planted a small yet passionate kiss on his lips. He trapped my bottom lip in between his and chuckled when I let a small moan, his hands started running up and down my back. We’re both drunk and he’s holding me in his arms, keeping me up right since the alcohol and him are making my knees weak. 

Under the moonlight with Hoseok was like a dream. Unbelievably ethereal. “I love you Hoseok” I smiled against his lips, and he returned the smile. “I love you too Y/n.” 

“Marry me”, Hoseok’s smiled never faltered. “It’s you, it’s always been you and I plan on spending the rest of my life with you, that’s if, you’ll let me”.

“Hey babe, are you ready?” He yelled from his car. “Coming!” I ran from where I was in the backyard and I saw him, sitting in his classic 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air. He had just come from the car wash, the body still slightly wet with droplets of water hanging on and then sliding down.

“You look beautiful, my love” he reached over and placed his hand on my thigh after I settled in the passenger seat. “Thank you”, I looked down at my fingers in my lap. I was wearing his favorite dress on me. It’s a light blue with white cherry blossom branches on it. It was fitted around my torso and bust but from my hips down and the sleeves were loose.

He grabbed my hands, stopping me from twiddling my thumbs and kissed my knuckles, something he always did, no matter where we were or who we were with. “Get over here”, he dropped my hands, grabbed the back of my neck, and pulled me in for a kiss.

Even after being together for almost three years, he still managed to make me blush. When we both pulled away for air, he giggled at my red face. He smiled that smile of his and whispered, “I love you, so much, never forget that.”

We looked at each other for another minute until he realized what the night ahead of us contained. He pulled the car out of parked and drove down the street. He didn’t tell me where we were going to go, I would’ve been okay with just staying in with him. Heaven was a place on Earth if he was with me.

The drive wasn’t long, but even if it was it would’ve been entertaining with him singing to me, him saying, “Doll, I’m trying to serenate you here, quit laughing at me”. To make up for it I would lean over the center console and place a kiss on his neck, his sweet spot.

He would sigh when I pulled away, but before I knew it, we were pulling into a bar, of course. The bar wasn’t my favorite place, but he made the night fun. “You better not get out yet, I gotta open the door for you.”

I chuckled as he ran in front of the car from his side to mine, just to open the car door and help me out, knowing damn well I could do it myself. “Thank you, Hoseok,” I said against his lips, making them spread wide into a smile.

“See, chivalry isn’t dead”, he laughed as he opened to door to the bar for me also. “It is when it isn’t you.”

Cigarette smoke filled my nostrils, and I heard the clinking of drinks and the slam when the cue stick hit the pool ball. Hoseok grabbed my hand and led me to the bar, ordering two bottles of beer and the empty pool table in the back for 30 minutes.

The bartender handed us our drinks, shooting a wink my way making Hoseok grab my waist and tug me into his side. I giggled a bit at him showing the bartender the “back up pal, she’s taken” look. He looked down at me and smiled, continuing our way to the pool table.

Once we got to the table, Hoseok took one of the clean ashtrays from the small table by the cue stick rack and place it on the corner of our table. If smoking was so bad, why did he look so hot doing it?

He reached into his back pocket, pulling out his pack of cigarettes and his lighter. He grabbed a cigarette and lit one up while looking at me. He laughed at either me or my expression, probably both. Hoseok made his way to me, reaching to grab my hand, trying to dance.

“Didn’t you pay to play pool?” I smiled, keeping my hand away from him so he’d quit grabbing at them. “Yeah, but now I wanna dance with my beautiful girlfriend”. I gave in and let him capture my hand in his, he spun me around, so we were facing each other, I laid my hands on his broad shoulders, feeling the leather of his jacket underneath my palms.

“You’re so beautiful”, he said looking in my eye, his stare was so intense I couldn’t keep eye contact. “That’s the third time this hour you’ve said that”. I looked back up at him and he had a small smile adoring his face, he’s so pretty.

“Oh, am I?” Shit, I said that out loud. But it was worth it when I saw the small blush on Hoseok’s cheeks. It was my time to laugh at him, I felt a bit of power, usually I was the one blushing and getting chuckled at.

He had grabbed my hips at one point, and we were now slowly dancing besides the unused pool table. Time had started to move faster the longer I was with him. Before I knew it, it was dark, and the late-night crowd had started to shuffle in.

“Wanna head out of here?” I looked up at him and nodded. We left the bar hand in hand and made our way out his car. There was a full moon out tonight and there wasn’t a cloud in sight. I looked at Hoseok who was leaning on the car and walked over to him.

His speech was a bit slurred, but mine probably was too as I shakily said, “Yes, of course”. I didn’t think his smile could’ve gotten any bigger, but it did, he pulled a ring out of jacket and placed it on my finger.

“How much did we drink Hoseok?” I asked groggily as the sun from the blinds blinded me. I heard a small laugh from besides me and I saw the state he was in, he had a rosy tint on his cheeks, his hair was mused, and he had markings from his neck to his v-line.

I looked down and saw that I had basically flashed him, my skin uncovered by any fabric, but covered by markings made my him. As I ran my finger over one of them that’s when I noticed the ring on my finger.

“Seems like I drank enough to ask you and you drank enough to say yes.” I smacked his chest and he bubbled up with laughter, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me down with him and onto his chest.

“I’m sorry I don’t remember the entire night”, my lips formed into a small pout. “I don’t either my love, but I remember that you agreed to let me spend the rest of my life with you.” Not knowing what to say, I smiled at him, just staring at him, and taking all his features in.

“The world was built for two and it’s only worth it if someone’s loving you. You’re my other half Y/n and I love you.”

Hospital playlist

This show was such a breath of fresh air. Having been a Shin-Lee fan since Reply 1997, and the characters that have always been true to life, this was a cathartic drama, especially for me, to see ORs and outpatients running as it was preCOVID. While the medical re enactments were accurate, it was a drama about the thoughts and lives of the doctors treating the patients. From having patients treat you well, them showing bad tempers to you, to the helplessness you feel when there isn't a lot more that can be done, this drama did an amazing job of how each individual took care of these issues and themselves in the process. The growth of these characters from episode 1 to 12 is beautiful, and their friendship is the key to it all.

For now, I'll be mending my heartbreak with multiple rewatches, fanfiction, watching their band practice, listening to the soundtrack and working to someday be just as brilliant as these guys, while 2021 comes and brings us another season of our lacking 5.

Just my perspective. Not sure if that's how they thought of it in the writer's room. I don't know Lee Woojung nim's perspective. But maybe nobody really wants to relive 2020, be it even in another universe? Part of the reason for the time jump? And well, yes new interns means new beginnings, and it's always an interesting time. New interns who have begun their residency would definitely understand the feeling. Those are important stories too. Looking forward to next week's episode. (And why do I put myself through this pain every week again?!?!?)
