I've started outlining the Sorting Swap AU (currently titled The Butterfly Flaps). So far I've got the timeline of up to 1947, but not 100% how to choreograph the actual war. Dumbledore has much fewer strategic flaws than Voldemort, so it's hard to figure out what weakness resistance cells could exploit if he became a Dark Lord. Overplanning/over strategizing himself into a metaphorical hole or Gellert Grindelwald are the only obvious ones I can think of.
And of course I need to finish A Conspiracy of Ravens at some point.

After literal years of Notes app, Pages (iOS version of MS Word), and yes, I admit it, the FFN doc manager, I finally decided to be responsible, *only* 450k words into RFMD. I've used Notion for IRL stuff for years, now it's time to be *fully integrated*
One ship I have always had an aversion to, even before I found out Albus is canonically gay, is M*lbus (censored so this post doesn't accidentally end up in the ship tag). They just do not work together and have zero chemistry! The fact that M*lbus shippers would imagine Kate Middleton as Minerva is evidence that this ship is nonsensical. I love both these characters but there is no universe in which M*lbus makes sense.
All this time I thought Gellert Grindelwald was Austrian because of the location of Nurmengard and his slogan being German, but it turns out Gellert is a Hungarian name. I guess back then Austria-Hungary still existed, so it makes sense. I guess it's time to do some research on Austria-Hungary!

Maybe controversial opinion but I think Hinny would be better and more well loved if it was less 'best friend's sister/brother's best friend' and more about 'trauma bonding due to being personally victimized/having a personal connection to Voldemort'
One thing I don't get is when people make a huge deal out of Tom and Dumbledore's first meeting, as if it was uniquely traumatising for Tom or it was evidence of Dumbledore's evil or literally caused Tom to become Lord Voldemort.
Look it might be because they are both my problematic faves but it doesn't sit right with me!
Yes, this wasn't Dumbledore's nicest, least judgmental and most diplomatic moment BUT do you think Tom grew-up-in-an-orphanage-with-all-the-associated-mental-health-issues-I-go-around-London-by-myself Riddle hasn't seen or dealt with worse? It is not a big deal! I guarantee his fellow Slytherin were 100x worse to him for his questionable lineage!

I think it's kind of interesting how Hermione's Patronus is an otter. I mean, she's often portrayed and flanderized in fanon as the super uptight, by-the-books, ultra responsible friend, and yet the representation of her character is an animal known for its playfulness.
Actually, I think this tracks!
Hermione is genuinely one of the most out-of-pocket 'good' characters. Some of her greatest hits include:
setting a professor on fire
time travelling to take more classes
trapping Rita Skeeter in a jar
the SNEAK curse on the DA Galleons
confounding McLaggen during Quidditch tryouts
conjuring the birds to attack Ron
A lot of Hermione antis use these things to portray her as a 'psychopath' or 'abusive.' But I think this showed an interesting character trait of hers which people often forget -- Hermione is creative! Yes, she has a lot of 'book knowledge' but she also applies it in unexpected ways, like enchanting Harry's glasses to repel water. And yes, her creativity extends to her playful take on vengeance.

I just had an experience I need to share with everyone, I just went to my local Toastmasters club (it's a club for public speaking) and this ~75 year old lady was pulling up the slides and I saw her FFN Story Alerts page filled with Pride and Prejudice fanfic that she was reading.
This is the first time I have seen fanfic in the wild and it was so unexpected, I was trying so hard not to say something.
