Just small details about character designs that help me distinguish characters, I'll be using Yes Man as an example
Yes Man's design has loads of little details that I love, the little antenna on the top right of his head, the little crosses on his shoulders, as I like to call them idk if they have an actual term, the fact that the wire going around the bottom of his shoulders is one long wire that goes around the top of his face, etc, etc.
Whenever I see models and drawings of him I always look for these little features, as they help me figure out what character it is.
When it comes to human characters, these features come in handy as I struggle to distinguish between faces, with most people looking the same to me. Say a character has black hair and a purple T-Shirt:
Those would be the recognisable features for me.
But what if a artist were to change the shirt colour to, let's say yellow, in their own design of the character, but another character already has black hair and a yellow shirt, and I've already got in my head that black hair and yellow shirt belong to that character?
I'd probably see them as the same character, even though they're not.
Where am I going with this? Idfk don't ask me!
I think what I was trying to say is that although I love love LOVE fan designs of characters, it can be hard for me to recognise that character as that character, which is why I love even more when the artist keeps certain recognisable features from the original character.
And that it very only slightly ticks me off when artists forget little features, but in all honesty it doesn't even matter!! It's still Yes Man without the antenna, he's still recognisable. They're small and forgettable features that don't really add or subtract from a character's design, only existing to maybe add a little detail.
I think i just like really looking at a character's small details and memorising them all, don't take this post to heart, I don't even think it makes sense!!

Probably the fastest I've gone on to do a rewatch and I immediately caught this little detail. When Hibiki goes to the Zwei Wing concert and buys glowsticks, she gets the colors of her future gear, Tsubasa's gear, and Chris' gear.
I adore just how much attention the creators put into this series.
(RUIN SPOILERS) Started playing RUIN and I realized something
When you are in sun's little room with the mask on it makes it obvious that in the past someone was deffo living there and that someone has GOT TO BE whoever was in post it room in the base game.
I didnt screenshot it sadly( i got a grainy one from a yt. Can't access my pc rn) but on the walls in the little section there are pictures on the walls . Drawings. One one wall in particular there are drawings just like the ones in post it room. They are drawn super similar and are in the same square like shapes . In post it room there is repatition of 3 a LOT and there is a theme of 3 mostly between the ones in suns room too. Again this is too grainy to see but ruin underneath
And then there is the freaking post it notes
Again a rep of 3. Really ticked I can't show a better image but I'll try get one of ruin when I can . I swear tho there is a rep of 3 in it like 3 lighting bolts and things like that
