Storm in a field of flowers. next part
DISCLAIMER! it's an OC fanfiction, I'll tag actual characters below.
Elaine is sitting on her bed while talking to Rai. Rai is sitting in a chair at the end of the bed. “I don't know why she does it. It's just weird. Oh- but that reminds me-” she stopped, looking at Rai. Who was focused on bracelets. “UGH! You aren't even listening!” Elaine complained. Causing Rai to look up. “What? No, I am! You're complaining about you-know-who again.” She gave her friend a look. Elaine rolled her eyes then continued her talk. “Anyways- are you ready for Halloween?” “Why wouldn't I be? Got the best costume out of the both of us!” Rai boasted. Giggling after Elaine disagreed. Then Rai mentioned something else. “I'm just glad they let us take a day off school for it. They never do!” Elaine nodded in agreement.
The two end up falling asleep later in the night. Elaine forced Rai to sleep in her bed with her. Rai was embarrassed but agreed eventually. The morning rolled by and Elaine woke up first. Rai was laying her head on her arm. Elaine couldn't move thanks to it. So she decided to go back to sleep. After a few minutes Rai woke up. She went red in embarrassment when she realized she had fallen asleep on Elaine. She quickly but carefully moved. Her back is now facing Elaine. She ended up grabbing her phone and played on it until Elaine woke up. When Elaine woke up Rai made fun of how late she slept in. Elaine never told her what she saw.
Halloween night! It was a fright indeed. Especially because there was a cannibal on the loose. Elaine didn't believe it. But Rai believed it too much. Rai was incredibly shaky the entire night. “Wait- shit there's just brother! He doesn't know I'm out! Quick hide!” She grabbed Elaine and pulled her into an alley. Elaine looks out the side to see the two kids Rai babysits run past. “Those kids.. they're something else huh?” Elakne asks. Turning back inside the alley. She stops. But Rai doesn't notice. “Yeah..they are…maybe we can hit the church next..see if..hey, what's wrong?” She noticed her friend staring. Elaine didn't move. She started shaking as she stared. Rai then turns around. She froze as well. But just before she stopped to stare she put herself in front of Elaine. Protecting her. The cannibal stood before then. A large man with a red sweater and a red devil mask. He smiled and slowly held a knife up. “Did you know…” he started. “...cannibals normally eat their own kind?” His smile grew wider. He raised his knife slowly. “But..some don't follow that rule..”
After he said that the girls ran off. Elaine dragged Rai out. They ended up dropping some candy out of their bags. “What- the- hell- was- that?!-” Elaine yelled when they stopped running. “That- it was that guy! Oh my God we almost died!” Rai yelled back. Still panting. Elaine saw how panicked she was. So she got an idea. “But hey, why did he sound like that? Did you hear the way he walked? I'm shocked we didn't hear him before we saw him!” Elaine then stomped around, making thumping sounds for each step. It helped Rai a lot. She started laughing and making the thumping sounds with her.
Storm in a field of flowers. Pt. 2 previous part---next part
“WHAT?! Why do I have to walk up the hill?” Rai complained. “It was your idea and my legs hurt. If he has candy, yell down and I'll meet you. If not, you can roll down the hill or something.” Elaine stated sarcastically. “Are you saying that because I'm fat?!” Rai jokingly accused. “Yup!” Elaine answered. Holding back laughter. Rai rolled her eyes and began to walk up the hill. She had put her earbuds in. It was only a three minute walk, but she liked the music. When she got up to the church she took them out. She hesitantly knocked on the door. Fixing the sleeves to her costume as she waited. Humming a song. The door swung open. A man was holding a pot of boiling water. He looked like he was about to throw it at her, but stopped. She was noticeably younger than other trick or treaters. “What are you doing here? You should be at a house party.” He assumed. “So sorry to bother, my friend was curious and wanted to know if you were giving out candy?” Her nervousness made him put down the pot slowly. “I'm not. I refuse to participate in the devil's holiday.” He turned his head. “Oh, my apologies then. I'll leave you be-” she stopped, jumping when she heard Elaine yelling at her from the bottom of the hill. He looked annoyed. “Your friend I assume?” “Yes, sorry about her.” Rai answered. She sounded extremely awkward. He almost felt pity.
She then turned around and began to say goodbye, but he stopped her. “Wait, I have a question. Why are you out? Normally kids your age are drinking and smoking at a house party.” She slowly turned back around. “Oh no no..i can't. Me and my friend would rather goof off and dress up. I don't care about the candy that much. I just like hanging out with her.” the man nodded and held out a hand. “I'm new in town. I'm the priest of the church. My name is Father Gregor.” She very hesitantly shook his hand. “I'm Raelynn. Normally people call me Rai.” She introduced me. “My friend down there is Elaine. Sometimes I call her Ei.” “Ei? Like the letter? That's..odd.” he asked himself. “I just wanted a nickname for her. I don't call her that often though..” she giggled at the thought. “Will I be seeing you at church ever?” He asked. Almost hoping to see her. “Probably not. I mean, my family believes I think? I'm not sure..it's a little confusing.” She sounded embarrassed. “I see. Well it isn't for everyone. I'm not disappointed in you or anything if that's what you're thinking.” He could see the nervousness on her face. She now had a wide smile. Then she said her goodbyes and left. Yelling at her friend down the hill. He watched her as she walked. Almost watching her to make sure she was safe.
When Rai made it back down the hill Elaine stared with her arms crossed. “What took so long?” Rai still had her smile, “Oh! The guy that was up there-” “Did he have candy?” Elaine interrupted. Rai gave her a look and just stared quietly for a moment. “No..he didn't. He's a priest I guess. Doesn't celebrate.” Rai answered as she put her earbuds back in the case and in her pocket. “I think he wanted to throw boiling water on me..but besides that he was chill.” She shrugged and began to walk, Elaine following. “A priest? Ew, what'd he talk about? Did he want you to come by?” She sounded extremely suspicious. “He just kinda talked, I'll be honest I forgot most of it. I think he said something about me coming by..but I don't know. Sundays are supposed to be my day off from band and everything. Oh! And his name is Gregor.” Rai didn't complain, she didn't even talk bad about him. Elaine didn't like it, she didn't trust him. “Gregor? That's stupid.” She rolled her eyes. “Well, he didn't like your name either.” “he WHAT?!” Rai started laughing at her friend's reaction. The two continued their conversation as they walked, Elaine being incredibly loud while Rai told her to be quiet.
Storm in a field of flowers. Pt. 3 previous part---next part
That night the two had another sleepover at Elaine's house, they never had sleepovers at Rai's house. Elaine never bothered her about it, she knew why they didn't go. “You think we have time to go through candy?” Rai asked, plopping down on the chair at the end of the bed. “I would think, we don't have anything for tomorrow.” Elaine answered, dumping all her candy on the bed. Rai shrugged and dumped her candy out as well. Making sure to keep the piles separate. They spent a while arguing over candy and trading before putting it all back in their bags. “I'm tired, like really tired. Can we go to bed?” Rai yawned, “what? No! It's like- too early!” Her friend answered, she had a lot of energy. Rai sighed and went to her bag. She grabbed some clothes she brought before walking to the door. “I'll be right back, I'm gonna change.” After she went off to the bathroom to change. Elaine took the opportunity to change as well.
When Rai came back she yawned and walked to the other side of the room. She sat down in the corner and shut her eyes. “I'm so tired..but I can't sleep because you don't want me too..” she complained, Elaine looked confused. “You..what? You don't have to do something because I said so. You know that right?” She was now concerned, seeing the confused look on her friend's face. “..what?” She chuckled nervously, Elaine slowly walked over and sat next to her. She didn't say anything, she just sat there. Rai became increasingly awkward. After a few minutes of silence she started to sputter nonsense. “I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel bad-” she stopped when Elaine placed a hand on her knee. Rai went bright red and looked at the wall next to her. After a couple minutes Elaine spoke up. “Come on, you can go to sleep. I'll just watch some TV.” Rai quickly nodded and stood up, she waited until Elaine was comfortable before getting in the bed. She fell asleep holding a stuffed animal, Elaine looked over and brushed hair off her..friends face. Hoping for something more.
When Elaine woke up the next morning Rai was gone, only a note she left. Saying she had to leave early. Elaine sighed and started getting ready for the day, wondering why she had to leave. She already missed her, but she didn't know why. A few hours pass and Elaine called Rai like they normally do. They would talk for hours on the phone until one fell asleep, then they'd make fun of the other. “What? Sorry if it sounds bad- I'm busy doing stuff-” Rai mumbled as she answered. She sounded distant from the phone. “Oh, fine with me. It was just time to call, y'know.” Elaine sighed as she laid on her bed. “Time to call?” Rai asked, “Have you been keeping track?” She laughed. Elaine became incredibly embarrassed, “WHAT?! No! Why would I?” She tore off a paper that had a very specific time on it. All that was written was 5:47, the exact time they called. The two would end up talking for hours together. This time, Elaine has fallen asleep first. “Hello? You still there..?” Rai asked, only to be met with silence. “That..that's alright, I'm gonna stay on the phone for a while.” She didn't care that she was talking to herself. She talked to no one for a while, “I..I'm gonna go. I love you Ei, goodnight.” Then she hung up, Elaine has no clue she said it. Little did they know, they were both telling each other every night.
The next day the two met up at the park in-between their houses. Rai was extremely exhausted, she leaned against a tree. “Elaine- i-i need my water-” Elaine stopped and groaned before handing over the water. “Girl come on! We've been walking.” “No we haven't! I've been chasing after you!” The two argued, but Raibegan to cough. Elaine laughed for a second, thinking it was because of her water. But when Rai continued to cough she became worried. She grabbed her shoulders and looked her up and down. Trying to figure out what exactly was wrong. She quickly realized what happened when she saw how pale Rai was. “Did you eat?! You know you can't just not eat then go out and walk!” She scolded, slowly lifting her up. “I thought it'd be fine! I felt like throwing up anyways..” “it's because you didn't eat!” Rai flinched when Elaine yelled, but she didn't say anything after. Elaine ended up taking her home. She forced her to sit down, she then went off to quickly find something to eat. After a few minutes she came back with a bowl of noodles for Rai. She begrudgingly took the bowl and ate slowly. Listening to Elaine scold her for not eating. After a minute she sighed, “I worry for you. A lot. You…you need to take better care of yourself. I mean it.” Elaine sat down next to her, placing hand on Rai's knee. Rai went red and looked away. Elaine looked over, wondering if she'd look at her. And eventually Rai did look back, “I..I have something to admit..” Elaine mumbled, her face now red as well. Rai just stared, waiting for the next part. “I like you..a lot. I love you. If you don't like me back, that's fine. I just- I need an answer.” Rai took a breath, “I'm sorry Elaine..but..” Elaine froze, Rai almost never called her by her full name.
Storm in a field of flowers. Pt. 4 previous part---next part
“I don't know..I mean I like you back! But I'm scared, I-I've never been in a relationship. You have..” Rai looked down, she wasn't wrong. Elaine had been in many relationships. “Well, if it doesn't work out I can promise we'll still be friends.” And that was something Elaine would put her life on. “Promise?” Rai looked up, “promise.” Elaine answered simply. What she wasn't expecting was for Rai to practically jump on her for a hug. “Then yes! I mean- it was a question right? If not then I love you too!” She dug her face into her friend's neck. Elaine hugged her tightly in return, giggling with so much joy. The two sat like that for a while. “But wait, are you gonna tell your dad? Should I tell my uncle?” Rai pondered, she knew her uncle had a husband, but she was still scared of what he might think. Elaine just shrugged, “doesn't matter to me. I know my dad won't care, well, I mean he won't care I'm dating you. He'll be happy.” “I know- I just get nervous..you know?” Rai didn't know how to express emotions very well. If she told her uncle she would probably start crying. “You don't have to tell him. Or you could just wait.” Elaine suggested, “or, I write a letter!” Rai smiled, Elaine smiled exactly what she was talking about. Whenever she felt too scared or too emotional to tell someone something she wrote it out and gave it to them. She would walk away and let them read it alone.
Elaine nodded, “that's a great idea! I mean, it's what you've always done anyway.” She shrugged. Rai chuckled, “I get scared, if I end up talking to them I start crying. Then they feel bad and it doesn't go anywhere.” “No no I get your reasoning! Makes sense to me.” “Should I send a text now? Or write a letter and give it to them later?” Elaine thought for a moment, “I mean, it's really up to you. I'd send a text right now but-” before she could finish her sentence Rai pulled out her phone and started to write a message. Elaine sighed, shaking her head slightly. The two sat in silence as Rai typed the paragraph. After a few minutes she showed Elaine what it said. Elaine took the phone and began to read, when she finished she gave it back and gave her a thumbs up. “It's really mature. I mean, I can't even write like that.” Rai stared at the phone for a moment, then hit send. As soon as it was sent she sat it down on a nearby desk. “I'll look at the response later. Come on, I think I'm good enough to continue walking.” The two then left Elaine's room, dropping off the now empty bowl in the sink.
They walked until dark, they talked and laughed the entire time. Rai even bought some snow cones for them! While they were walking Rai began to complain about someone in their band. “I don't understand. She has a shower, she has a washer, why not use them?!” She groaned in frustration. “You don't understand how bad it is to be next to her while marching AND while just sitting down playing! She's a senior and she can't even play her damn instrument properly-” she stopped when the two kids she babysits run up, they were yelling. Their yelling caused Elaine to drop her snow cone. “Miss Rai! Miss Rai!” The two cried, “are you going to watch us tomorrow?” The one in the skeleton costume asked, “We want to color!” The one in the Pumpkin costume started after. Rai froze, she looked down at Elaine, who was staring at the snowcone she dropped. “I..I'm sorry guys. But I'm busy tomorrow.” She felt bad for lying, but she wanted to spend time with her lover. The two kids became incredibly sad, causing Rai to cave. “Well..maybe I can find the time to-” “YAYY!” The two kids cheered before running off, almost knocking her down. Elaine sighed, “you need to get better at telling people no.” Rai gave her a look, “You're one to talk.” She mumbled, handing over her snowcone for Elaime to have.
Storm in a field of flowers. Pt.5 previous part---next part
The two continued their walk deep into the night. “I don't understand, why do you go to church? You're not religious.” Elaine questioned, Rai just shrugged in response. “I dunno. It's fun?” It wasn't fun. Elaine knew that, she had been before. “No it isn't- wait..is it the priest?” She sounded mad, Rai feared that. “Gregor? What's wrong with him?” Rai tried avoiding the question, but Elaine wasn't letting that happen. Elaine stopped walking, now she stood with her hands on her hips and stared at Rai. “Railyn, what is he doing to you? Is he hurting you? You have to tell me!” “He isn't doing anything to me, he's nice Ei he isn't a bad guy!” “How do you know? He could be horrible! He could be pretending!” Rai was becoming incredibly fearful by now. Scared something might come between them. “Ei I trust him, isn't that good enough?” “No it isn't! I want an actual reason for why you care so much-” “Because he cares about me!” Rai yelled, she never yelled. At least not at Elaine. “He cares about me! More than my dad did..you know what he did to me- I told you what he did! Not many people know because I don't trust them! But he knows, he knows because I told him- because I trust him- because-” Rai stopped, tears fell out her eyes. She crossed her arms and looked down. “Nevermind.” She mumbled, Elaine felt a little bad now. The two sat in silence before the two kids walked up again, but with the priest this time. “We are sorry Miss Rai..” they said in unison, she quickly dried her tears and crouched down to talk to them. “Sorry for what? You didn't do anything.” “We were bothering you, it was mean of us..” the one in the skeleton costume said. “We should've left you alone..you don't have to watch us-” she quickly cut off the other kid. “Nonsense! I don't mind watching you two. It's the best part of my day. The two got all giddy, until the priest stopped in. “No, they need to learn. It may be fun watching them, but it's also fun to have some alone time.” She stood up to face him. She had a small smile, which he gladly returned. Elaine only glared with suspicion at him. “Come now children, we still have more people to apologize to.” He called to the two younger kids, they nodded and started walking. She was shocked that they weren't running like normal. The priest put a hand on Rai's shoulder, they exchanged a small smile before he walked off. Rai and Elaine hadn't said a word to each other.
The two girls are still out walking late, they haven't said much to each other. Rai is trying not to cry while she comes up with a way to apologize. Elaine isn't thinking at all, she's just walking. “I-i'm sorry..for yelling earlier I mean..it was stupid of me..you were only thinking the best- and I- I was being stupid-” Rai tried to apologize, but she just ended up crying. Elaine stopped and looked down, she panicked. Rai had never cried in front of her before. “Hey- hey wait- I..uhm..do you want a hug?” Elaine wasn't sure what to do, but Rai nodded slowly while trying to wipe away her tears. Causing Elaine to slowly and awkwardly wrap her arms around her. Rai held her close and put a head on her shoulder. She wouldn't stop apologizing for, well she was apologizing for everything at this point. Elaine continued to try and tell her not to apologize, but she just felt horrible. Eventually all that was left was sniffles from Rai. “Are you feeling better?” Elaine asked, Rai nodded in response. Her face still dug in Elaine's shoulder. Elaine would think for a couple of minutes, then get an idea.
“Hey, why don't we post something about how cool it is to be outside late at night?” Rai lifted her head, she looked incredibly confused. “What do you mean? Everyone goes around at night.” “Well, just for fun. Plus it'd be nice to have you in my camera roll more.” Elaine giggled as Rai took herself off of her as her face turned bright red. “I..uhm..sure..but it has to be on your phone. My camera sucks.” Elaine quickly pulled out her phone and started recording. “Hold on..oh! Got it!” She pointed the camera towards Rai. Rai just covered her face, Elaine giggled. “Come on! No one will see it. Promise.” After a moment, Rai took her hands off her face. She walked around to be next to Elaine, the camera moved to be on both of them. Elaine kissed Rai's cheek, making her giggle. The two then talked about their night to the camera. They talked for about fifteen minutes before Elaine saw something in front of them. “.hold on..what's that thing?” She flipped the camera, a red blob showed up. It became bigger and more clear the closer it got to the camera. It looked like some kind of demon. Elaine quickly tried to run, but Rai stayed in place. Frozen in fear as the demon ran closer, Elaine yelled for her to get out of the way, but she didn't move. The demon ran up and jumped on Rai, the camera couldn't catch that part. The camera started working again soon after though, Rai looked around like she was looking for something. She now had horns, sharp teeth, and orange eyes. Elaine yelled in fear and just continued to record the phenomen, she didn't know what else to do. Until the two kids and the priest showed up again. The kids run up and go in front of Rai, almost defending her from the priest. Something Elaine could agree with those two for one. The priest runs up and yells, the camera couldn't capture it properly. Elaine started yelling in confusion, “what's going on?!” “Quiet! get- OUT OF THIS BODY MOLOCH!” He yelled before throwing water on Rai. She screamed and threw up some kind of goo. She laid on the sidewalk as the goo would slither away, slowly morphing back into the demon. She stopped recording as she ran up to Rai. Holding her as they ran off. “WHAT DID YOU DO?!” She yelled at the priest in horror as she held her lover.
Storm in a field of flowers. Pt.6 previous part---next part
After a while Rai started coughing, she sat up and leaned over while coughing into her arm. Elaine sat on her knees and just held her hands over Rai. Just in case she needed support, Elaine was more focused on what she was coughing up. Some kind of black goo, she was incredibly fearful now. “Are you okay? Do you need water? I-i have water!” She took off her bag to get a water bottle for Rai. Rai's arm was so shaky as she took it, she could barely get it open. She took small, slow sips from the water bottle as Elsine just sat next to her. She was worried by how pale she was, but she noticed something. One of Rai's canines was longer than it had been. “Hey..your tooth..” She pointed out, Rai slowly put her hand up and felt it. She was definitely startled by it, “I..I need to see him..he’ll know what to do..he..he can help..” It didn't take long for Elaine to realize who she was talking about. “Are you serious? He's the reason it happened!” Elaine was furious, “what..? No..no he didn't…he was helping…he was getting rid of the demon..or whatever that thing was..” Rai tried to explain, but Elaine wouldn't listen. “How do you know that?! What if he summoned that thing?!” “He's a priest…why would he summon a demon..?” Rai tried to stay calm, she felt drained of all her energy after that. Elaine couldn't exactly argue with that logic, after a minute she sighed. “Okay, let's sit for a minute and we'll go. Okay?” Rai nodded in agreement, mumbling an okay.
After about an hour they walked up to the church. Rai was talking about Gregor the entire time. Trying to tell Elaine that he isn't a bad guy. Elaine was beginning to realize that he was like a father to her. She felt horrible, especially knowing about Rai's past. Rai continued to talk about how much he meant to her and how much she could trust him. Eventually the two made it up the hill, Rai was still limping because of earlier, so Elaine had to help her walk. Rai slowly knocked on the door, but there wasn't an answer. She was confused. “Maybe we should just wait.” She shrugged it off, and nodded to some trees next to the church. “Come on. Let's go sit and wait.” Rai tried to walk over herself, but still couldn't move properly. Elaine had to help her. When they sat down Elaine complained about the bushes in front of them. Rai was about to argue against it but stopped when she heard the doors open. She couldn't get up to run to him since her legs were still messed up. Elaine was slowly going over to help her, but stopped when Rai stopped trying to move. Rai was beginning to breathe faster, it was scaring her. Rai was staring at the doors, Elaine looked over to see what she was looking at. Someone in a red cloak was dragging Gregor out of the church. All Rai could see was the blood on his head. She began to breathe faster and faster, Elaine had to cover her mouth. When the figure in the cloak disappeared down the hill Rai had fallen into Elaine's arms. She began to sob, she was terrified. Elaine just held her, she did know what to do. Though she got an idea, she started to run her fist up and down Rai's back gently. She also began to hum, she would hum and sing songs to Rai. Rai just laid there, mourning the loss of a father. Though, she knew the town wouldn't be missing the father.
Rai cried longer than she ever had, especially infront of Elaine. She did stop eventually, but she felt numb. Like she could’t move or breathe, almost like she shouldn’t. Elaine just sat in silence, she wasn’t sure how to help, so she just held her. “Do you..want to go home?” Elaine asked in a whisper, Rai nodded slowly. “To your house or my house?” Elaine just wanted the best, if Rai wanted to be alone she’d leave her alone. “Do you think you can stay at my house..?” Rai’s voice was strained because of how hard she had been crying. “I’ll ask my dad, then while i'm walking you down there i'll see if he answers. Okay?” She was so gentle with her words, Rai nodded slowly and tried standing up. Though her legs were still way too weak. Elaine had to help her up, making it difficult to get down the hill. They walked slowly up and down the streets, for Rai’s sake. She was still shaking as if it was below freezing outside. Elaine tried to make conversation to keep her mind off of things, but it wasn’t working well. Everytime Rai would answer it was bland and short. She tried her best to avoid talking about the subject, but Rai just turned it around. After a couple of minutes Elaine just stayed quiet, hoping it might help.
Storm in a field of flowers. Pt.7 previous part---next part
After about twenty minutes of walking they made it to Rai’s house. “Did your dad ever answer..?” Rai questioned, Elaine had to think for a minute before remembering she had to ask her dad. She quickly pulled out her phone and looked, she smiled widely as she looked at the message. “He said yes!” Elaine exclaimed as she stepped inside with Rai. At this point Rai had refused to let her help with walking anymore. Elaine was worried about her nonetheless, she thought it might be worse than they thought considering Rai was limping. Yet she continued to limp around the house, leading Elaine to her room. Even if she already knew where it was. When she stepped in she was greeted by her cat laying on her bed. The cat stood up and just meowed, happy to see her. She walked up to her bed and picked him up. “Oh quit yelling.. Are you hungry?” She set him down and went to her dresser, grabbing a bag of treats from inside. She looked up at Elaine, who was already looking at her. She gave her a look, and Elaine nodded as a response. Rai tossed the bag and the cats attention was now on Elaine as she held the bag of treats. The cat ran to the other side of the bed and tried to crawl on Elaine. She struggled to get the bag open for a moment, but when she had it she tossed a treat to the middle of the bed. The cat quickly ran to the area and sniffed around to find it. She was about to throw the bag back but Rai shook her head, “Put it in the side table drawer. I’ve gotta move it so he doesn’t find it.” She explained, Elaine nodded and did as told before sitting down on a bean bag Rai had in her room.
Rai then jumped on her bed, grabbing the cat and forcing him to stay close. He seemed annoyed but he didn’t try to move or anything. She began to just talk to him like he was a person, Elaine thought this was adorable. “Oh wait- we should probably eat.” Rai realized, Elaine nodded in agreement. Rai put the cat down and got off the bed, helping Elaine get up from the bean bag chair. When they left the room the cat followed, he made it to the kitchen mch faster than them. He jumped on the container with his food and started meowing again. Rai sighed, “How many times to i need to tell you? I can’t feed you if you’re on the food bucket..” She mumbled to herself as she picked him up and dropped him to the floor, opening the container before he could jump on it again. She used the scoup to put some food in his bowl, then took his other bowl and got him some water. Elaine was just looking around aimlessly during all this. When Rai finished she began to walk around the kitchen to find something to eat, grabbing Elaines attentions. “Okay..we have some spaghetti left overs..Some frozen stuff I can put in the microwave…or we have stuff to make sandwiches.” Rai listed, counting on her fingers. She looked up at when she finished listing them off. Elaine knew Rai would make her pick, Rai didn’t like taking the first option or making the first decision. She would rather have others happy, she’d take whats left. “What about that left over spaghetti? That sounds pretty good.” Rai nodded and grabbed some things out of the fridge. The plain noodles, the sauce, and parmesan. She then went to grab two bowls for them, Elaine opened the containers during this. “Plain noodles? Why not just make it with the sauce?” She was confused, Rai came back with the bowls soon enough though. “Oh, my uncles make it that way because my brother doesn’t like the sauce.” “Which one?” Rai shrugged, “I forget, they’re equally picky when it comes to food. Me? I don’t care much, it isn’t that important to me.” She explained as she put some of the spaghetti and sauce in a bowl before going to put it in the microwave. As she pressed the buttons to start it Elaine had put some food in her own bowl. “Well you have to have some standards. Aren’t there foods you don’t like?” She asked without looking, still focused on the task at hand. “I mean..i don’t like poptarts very much. They’re too sweet- makes me want to throw up.” Rai had gone to get cups, “Anyways- what do you want to drink? We’ve got tea, soda, water..” She had begun to make herself a cup of tea. “I don’t like tea, you know that! It’s just leafy water.” Elaine complained, Rai just shrugged as a response. “Still an option if you want it.” “Hmm..what kinds of soda?” Elained asked, moving to look inside the fridge. Rai had gone to grab her bowl out of the microwave, putting Elaines bowl in to warm it up. Elaine had grabbed a can of soda she liked, she put some ice in her cup before pouring the can into the cup. She took the tab off and set it on the counter. Rai had grabbed it and put it in her pocket. The two silently worked beside each other.
Eventually they were both sitting at the table with thier food and drinks. They talked and talked while they ate. They talked about any and every subject, Elaine was just happy that Rai was feeling better. “Ugh..I feel sick from this stuff.” Rai complained as she shoved the bowl away. “Well, did you take your medicine?” Elaine asked, “Yes? Why wouldn’t I? I’m supposed to take them twice a day.” Rai was genuinely confused, she knew nausea was one of the side effects, but it seemed to happen every time. “That’s your problem. I would know, I used to be on it. It does something that makes you less hungry.” Elaine explained, Rai just groaend. “It’s stupid regardless. I am hungry, but now i feel sick.” Elaine shrugged and continued to eat, Rai had finished her tea and began to eat the ice. “I don’t know how you can do that, i’ve gto sensitive teeth.” Elaine stated, Rai just glared almost. “Uhm..it’s good? Plus it’s better than gaining unnecessary weight.” Elaine knew that wasn’t the reason, she remembered her talking about it. Back when she still lived with her father he wouln’t let her eat some nights. So she’d ask for a glass of water, luckily he was nice enough to give her ice. She had it as a meal for so many nights it was a shock she hadn’t died. Elaine had to sit for a minute after thinking about that. She didn’t want to think about it. Luckily Rai wasn’t thinking about it too much. The two continued to talk until the front door opened. “When did you get home?!” A familiar voice yelled, causing the two to look back at the door. Rai groaned in frustration.
Storm in a field of flowers. Pt. 8 previous part---next part
“Why are your friends here?” Rai asked, “Why is your girlfriend here?” Her brother, Robert asked. Rai was quit for a moment, “Uhm..” She looked at Elaine for a second before looking back. “Something happened.” She wasn’t going to go into further detail just yet. “Well something happened with us to!” He argued, “I was possessed by this crazy- demon- thing!” One of his friends, Roy yelled. The girls froze, Elaine started choking on her drink. Roy crossed his arms all smug like, thinking he won the argument or something. He wasn’t too sure why he was proud. “I was too! Did..” Rai hesitated, “Did the priest guy help?” She knew they didn’t know his name, “The priest..” Robert muttered for a second, “Oh yeah he did!” Roy’s smile quickly disappeared as he realized it wasn’t just him that experienced it, he was a little upset he couldn’t use it as an excuse against her during arguments. “Why? Did he help you too?” Their third friend, Ross asked. Rai just nodded slowly, what she had seen beginning to come back. “Well, they’re staying here because Roy didn’t want to be alone- OW!” Robert yelled out as Roy punched his arm. Muttering something about what his friend said. Robert glared before turning to face the girls, still rubbing his arm. “Why are you here? Didn’t want to leave her alone?” He asked Elaine, who just stared for a moment. “Something else happened besides that possession thing..” The two flinched when it was mentioned, they didn’t like that experience. By the way Elaine had worded it made him realize that it wasn’t best to talk about infront of Rai. He just nodded, “well we already ate, so…bye i guess!” He waved as the three went to his room. Rai just gave a slight nod as an answer, deep in thought about the priest. Elaine was about to say something but stopped when Rai looked up all the way. “Alright..well..we should finish eating. Radford will be home soon.” Elaine wasn’t sure why that was relevant, but she wouldn’t question it. Not wanting to upset her.
The girls now sat in Rai’s room. Elaine had moved the bean bag next to the bed so she could sit next to her. They were watching TV and making bracelets. The cat was lying on Rai’s pillow, asleep. They could hear the boys from the other room across the hall. “Ugh..i’m bored, and i'm out of ideas for bracelets.” Elaine complained, “Eh, I stopped a while ago.” Rai put her hands down, “That was an option?” Elaine looked up, Rai just shrugged. The two sat in silence for a few minutes before Elaine got an idea. “Hey, wanna go bother the boys?” Rai smiled wide after the suggestion. The girls giggled as they got up and walked out of her room, the cat following. Rai kicked open the door to her brothers room and plopped down on the bed. Elaine sat on the chair at his desk.
The boys had stopped laughing and talking when they walked in. They all stared at each other in silence for a few minutes. “What? Something happen?” Rai asked, acting completely oblivious. “Why are you in my room?” Her brother muttered. “Because I can?” “Well get out?” “No?” The two argued for a moment. Everyone else just watched. Ross looked over to Elaine, they gave each other slight nods, they got along pretty well. Roy had started to record the two argue. Roberts yell was cut off as Rai tackled him. The two began to have a physical fight, hitting each other with pillows, kicking each other, and just straight up yelling. Roy was laughing so hard he couldn’t hold the phone anymore, so Ross took over in recording. Elaine had started recording on her own phone. Until the door banged open again. The two stopped, Rai had a handful of Roberts hair and Robert had a tight hold on Rai’s arm. It was their older brother, Radford. He had just gotten off work. “Where’s the leftover spaghetti?” He questioned, “Oh! I ate it.” Rai stated, Radford only stared for a moment before joining the three in their fight. Roy couldn’t breathe at this point, Elaine had dropped her phone, and Ross was actually laughing out loud instead of a small chuckle. All the siblings were yelling at each otherand fighting, but everyone knew it wasn’t serious, if it was it’d already be over. Everyone was calling them by full names, middle names, last names, and even crude nicknames they had for each other.
Storm in a field of flowers. Pt.9 previous part---next part
Ten minutes pass and everyone was laying on the floor, everyone was laughing, and they had two recordings of it. After he regained his breath Radford sat up and leaned against the bed, “Hey, you guys wanna watch a movie?” “I can make popcorn and Ei can help me with the other snacks!” Rai said happily, Elaine let out an offended scoff. The three boys agreed and it was final, they we’re having a movie night. Radford went to grab the two boxes of DVDs, with Roberts help. Roy and Ross were standing next to the kitchen, watching the girls make everything. Ross was listing off snacks to help them and Roy was just patronizing them. Rai was busy making everyones drinks while Elaine was getting all of the snacks on the tray situated.
The first one to wake up was Roy, or so he thought. Rai was gone, he didn’t have a clue where she went, she was asleep in Elaine's arms. So it was odd she left a comfortable position. He slowly managed to get out of his friend's grasp and get off the couch. He heard something knock over in another room, Rais' bedroom. He very slowly went into the hallway and walked down to her room. He stood in front of the door for a moment before knocking. After a minute she slowly opened the door. She looked terrified, she was shaking and crying. She ended up backing away from him, which confused him even more. “Are you okay..? You’re being really weird..” His tone was laced with sarcasm. He didn’t mean it though, and she knew that. She slowly shook her head at the question. “Why aren’t you talking? You love to.” He rolled his eyes, she didn’t answer. She sort of just stared, he was beginning to get a little creeped out. “You…please you need to understand…the demon..it..it feels like it’s still there..doesn’t it..?” She put a hand on her chest, he wanted to lie, but didn’t. He nodded slowly in agreement to the question. “But that would be weird..I mean, it’s not like he was walking around during that-” He was cut off when she grabbed his shoulders. “That isn’t what I mean! It- I- I can’t explain it- but please! Understand me- you have too!” She was shaking him. She didn’t mean to, but she was terrified, he understood that all too well. He stood there for a moment, thinking about what he should do. He took a deep breath and slowly pushed her back, she was scared for a moment until she realized he just wanted her to sit down. So she sat down on her bed, she stared at him while waiting for him to say something. She jumped when he sat next to her and held his hands up. He put his hands on her shoulders and stared her in the eyes. “You need to breathe. Like..i dunno your band stuff. What’s the slowest song you play?” He asked, she thought for a moment. “The…the ballad..it..” He shushed her, putting a hand over her mouth. “Okay, now the..tempo? Is that right?” He didn’t give her a chance to answer. “Okay, uhm..get the..tempo in your head and breathe at that pace. What is it uhm..” He mumbled to himself. “Counts? Okay, four counts in, hold four counts, then breathe out for counts.” She nodded and did as told, only the counts were much slower than he thought, so he had to correct her and tell her two counts. After a minute she was breathing properly, but she was still terrified. “Alright, now can you explain what you mean?” His sarcasm was still very apparent, but she knew that was just him. “It..I can’t tell if what i'm doing is because of that..thing or if it’s because of myself. I don’t- do you ever-” She sighed, not being able to get the words right. “Do..you ever feel like you’re a bad person?” She didn’t look at him, but she knew how he felt about that. He agreed with her. “I..I guess I do..sometimes..so yeah.” He was surprised she felt that way. The only reason he’s surprised is because she doesn’t do bad things. Even if she does, she apologizes or feels incredibly guilty about it. The two sat in silence for a few minutes before Rai spoke up. “..You can talk about it with me. I won’t judge, and I won’t tell anyone. I promise.” “You promise me Railyn?” “Promise you Reynold.”
So the two sat and talked for what seemed like hours, they just talked about everything that was happening in their life. Even including things from the past, which they both cried when they talked about it. Eventually they got everything out of their system. “I…i’m sorry if I was talking too much.” Rai tried apologizing, but was quickly shut down by him. “Quit apologizing! It’s annoying.” He shut his eyes, crossed his arms, and looked away from her. She knew this wasn’t anything bad. In fact, she was happy he said that. It meant he cared. She stayed quiet for a moment before she got an idea. “Oh! Why don’t we go make breakfast for everyone?” She sounded super excited when she suggested it. He just rolled his eyes. “Why should we? What have they done for us?” Rai shrugged, “Just to be nice. Then maybe we can use it against them if we want them to do something.” She said it so happily, it was kind of funny. Either way, he liked that idea a lot. He quickly agreed and the two quietly snuck into the kitchen.
After about thirty minutes everyone else woke up to a burning smell. Everyone was confused, “Where’s the fire?-” Elaine stated as she quickly sat up on the couch. She sighed in relief when she saw the two in the kitchen behind them. “Oh..nevermind they’re just cooking.” She then sat back down on the couch and tried to go back to sleep. Rai silently walked up and yanked the blanket off. Elaine almost fell off the couch as she had done that. “Nope! We cooked for you guys. Now come on- get up.” Rai said while she walked back into the kitchen, making her own plate of food. Roy had already sat down and started to eat. Radford was still asleep, no one woke him up. He would always yell at whoever woke him up. Robert though had practically jumped off the couch to get the food. Ross just walked, though he was excited about getting food. Elaine laid on the floor for a couple of minutes before getting up to get her food as well.
When they all finished they left just enough for the other two in the house if they wanted some food later. For now, they all sat at the table, discussing what they would do for the day. “I want to go around town. But me and Rai don’t have any money.” Ealine stated, “I can pay for everything you know?-” Roy was quickly cut off by Rai. “No! I always end up feeling bad. I still owe you money from that one time.” “You needed food and you were about to pass out!” Robert accused, “Shut up!” Rai yelled as she threw a piece of trash at him. The conversation would continue until Rai remembered she needed to take her medicine. So she left to go take it, when she came back she dropped Roberts medicine in front of him. He groaned, “Why do I need my medicine? It’s the weekend!” “You know the rules, if one of us has friends over we need our medicine.” “But you take yours everyday!” “Well they aren’t my rules! If you’re gonna yell at anyone go yell at John.” Everyone just stopped to listen to their conversation, Robert mumbled something under his breath to mock her. She just ignored him and sat back down. “So, did anyone figure out what we’re gonna do?” “We’re gonna see if Radford will let us borrow his car since Ross has his license.” Roy explained as he leaned back in his seat. “I have my learners permit. Not my license-” Ross tried defending himself but Roy cut him off, “Same difference! If we get pulled over then you can show them and we’ll be fine.” “No we won’t, we need an adult in the car if it’s only a learners permit.” Rai explained, “Plus! There’s not many cops in town. What if our uncle pulls us over?” Robert practically shouted from the kitchen, Rai just pointed his way. Showing her agreement. “Well then what are we going to do?! I don’t wanna walk around all day!” Roy complained. “We could ride bikes,” Elaine suggested, but her idea was quickly shut down by Roy. “Well someone here can’t ride a bke.” He glared at Rai, who got incredibly defensive. “It’s not my fault my dad didn’t care enough to teach me anything!” They all stayed quiet for a moment, they only started talking when Robert sat back down.
Storm in a field of flowers. Pt. 10 previous part---next part
“Well we still need something to do for the day.” Elaine spoke up, Roy sighed. “I guess I can walk around. But if my legs give out i’m blaming all of you!” Everyone just ignored his threat. “Okay, so what about the park?” Rai suggested. “Wait which one?” Robert asked, “The one that’s close to the school. Or..wait no closer to the store.” “That one corner store?” He asked, Rai nodded. “No I don’t like that one. It’s always full of little kids or old people.” Elaine chimed in, “There really isn’t anywhere to go in town is there?” She finished, getting some nods of agreement. “Wait- that candy store!” Rai suggested with a wide smile. “I think there’s a sale.” She finished, everyone seemed to like that. Especially Elaine, she had practically jumped out of her seat. Everyone just stared at her for a minute. “What? Let’s go grab some candy to eat while we’re walking around town!” She said it like it was obvious. “We need to change,” Rai was right, they were still in the clothes they had slept in. The only issue was Roy, Ross, and Elaine didn’t have any of their clothes. The solution they came up with was for Elaine to wear something of Rai’s while the boys wore something from Roberts closet. They all agreed, except for Roy. “No, no no no! I don’t like the way his clothes feel. They feel too heavy on me, plus he keeps the tags on.” He complained, so they all thought for a moment. Rai snapped her fingers and ran off to her room. Leaving all of them confused. Elaine pointed a finger in the direction she went, Robert just shrugged as a response. She came back quickly with clothes that looked identical to Roys. “I was gonna wait till your birthday to give it to you. I just bought it for something like this, you know, so you don’t have to wear something you’d be uncomfortable in.” She handed him the clothes and walked off with Elaine to her room. Ross and Robert looked at Roy, when they saw him just standing there they decided to go to Roberts room to get a change of clothes.
It took about twenty minutes for them to get ready, well, for the girls to get ready. The boys had been done in ten minutes. “Why do girls take so long to get ready?” Robert groaned, then the two girls had walked out. “Why do you take so long?” Rai complained, two of the boys looked at Robert. He shrugged and muttered something about how she doesn’t normally give into her appearance. Everyone began to walk out instead of Rai, she stayed behind and shoved Radford off the couch before running outside. They were confused when she ran past them, until they saw Radford try to throw something at them from the door. Then they all had to run off to avoid whatever he was throwing, they all met up at a stop sign at the end of the street. Rai was laughing so hard she was lying on the ground. Elaine started to laugh with her, making fun of how she sounded like a spray bottle when she laughed. The boys just watched, Roy and Ross still gaining their breath. “WHY?! Why did you wake him up? There was no need!” Robert yelled out, “That’s the point! It was funny!” Rai could barely answer because she was laughing so hard. “He’s gonna yell at you when we get home, you know.” “I know, but I don’t care. I’m not scared of him.” She had managed to stop laughing after a minute and stood up to continue their walk.
Storm in a field of flowers. Pt. 11 previous part---next part
After they made it to the shop they each got a small bag of candy. Roy ended up paying for the five of them. Rai felt bad about it but ended up sneaking some money back into his pocket. The group would leave and begin to just walk around town. They ended up stopping at the park to eat their candy and talk. Rai sat on the swings, Elaine was sitting on the platform ontop of the slide, Roy was sitting under said platform where there was a chair. Ross and Robert just sat on the small rocks used as a base for the playground. They would talk for a while, about really useless things. “Okay, but there’s a very clear difference between alligators and crocodiles.” Elain argued, “If it’s a clear difference then why does no one know?!” Robert yelled back, but before Elaine could answer a handful of the rocks were thrown at her. She looked back to see who or what did it, but she didn’t see anyone. No one really seemed to notice her turning around, since they were still arguing. Rai noticed how quiet she was soon enough though. She hopped off the swings and went to sit on the slide with Elaine. Mid-argument a handful or rocks had been thrown at Ross, he didn’t say anything about it. Thinking maybe it was Rai from on top of the slide. They all stopped talking when the street lights around them went off.
Rai was one of the first to react, after a moment of staying still out of fear she got her phone and turned on the flashlight. Then the others pulled out their phones for light. Elaine tried to turn on her flashlight but her phone was on a very low percentage. So she just put it away, deciding to stay close to someone at all times. “Why do you think the lights turned off?” Elaine questioned, “Some sort of power outage, but that doesn’t make sense. I can see houses with power.” Rai thought about the possibility of it just being maintenance or something in that matter. “No way it’s an outage! If it was the streetlights down the block wouldn’t be on.” Roy argued, “They’re all connected with different wires and different sources of power. The ones down the block don’t have the same power source, they wouldn’t be off.” Rai explained, growing frustrated. This only caused yet another argument between the group of kids. None of them noticed how their surroundings melted together. Trees from the forest behind them now circled them. None had noticed the changes until they found themselves frozen. Some kind of substance wrapped around them, almost lifting them up. Half tried to run, half tried to fight it. When Elaine brushed her hand against it she almost threw up in response. “Ew! It- it doesn’t feel slimy- it feels-” She couldn’t even describe it, so Rai decided to try and touch it, ‘for knowledge’ she told herself. She had to turn her head soon after. “Why is it so cold? It feels like..grease?” It confused her, but her fear overran her confusion. “What is THAT?!” Robert yelled, everyone turned to look at what he saw.
Some kind of figure stared back with bright, glowing eyes. It looked to be made of the same substance. Its arms reached the ground and its legs were so high up on its body, making its chest and all look small. As it began to slither near them they panicked more, kicking and screaming to see if anyone could hear them. But the only answer was an echo of unanswered cries. The creature almost looked like it was limping, it took a while to get to the middle of the circle of kids. Roy was yelling threats at the creature, Rai was yelling at him to stop threatening it. Then out of nowhere the creature flung an arm up, it stretched in an unnatural way. It covered Roy’s eyes, everyone began to yell. Terrified of what it was doing to their friend and what it might do to them. When it moved it’s hand of his eyes he almost looked limp. His eyes glowing the same color as the creatures, as his head hung Robert yelled out to the monster. “WHAT DID YOU DO?! Don’t- DON’T HURT HIM!” Then the creature did the same to Robert, causing Rai to yell out in fear for her brother. “Let him go! He hasn’t done anything! Neither of them have!” Then it did the same to her, Ross and Elaine stayed quiet, thinking that might be why it’s doing this. It slowly looked at Ross, then Elaine, then both of it’s arms flung outward. Covering both of their eyes. When they had gone limp, the substance holding them up disappeared, causing them to fall to the ground. But they did’t wake up, they just laid there. Some mumbled to themselves, some were twitching, like they were reacting to a dream. Rather a nightmare really.

Rai slowly sat up, rubbing her head. She looked around in a daze, everything around her was blurry. She squinted, wondering if maybe she should start wearing her glasses. She slowly stood up, tripping over her own feet and falling onto the swing set again. Why did she feel so weak? She didn’t understand, she wasn’t supposed to be weak. She was supposed to be tough, a leader. When she looked down she couldn’t find anyone. She tried calling out their names but no sound came out, it felt like someone was choking her. Something grabbed her from behind, she recognized the person just by the hand. She froze, it couldn’t really be him could it? It couldn’t be! He was in jail! Her thoughts were quickly interrupted by a voice, she grew even more terrified. She turned around so quickly she almost fell over, when she saw who it was her heart dropped. She was right about it being him, but all other senses left her. She just stood there, feeling useless, just looking at him was enough to bring back a plethora of memories. He didn’t say anything, he didn’t even move, yet he brought back so much for her. She just began to cry, falling to her knees while sobbing into her hands. Every slap, every yell, every insult, everything was coming back, it hurt her so much.
In reality, she hadn’t woken up. None of them had, they were having nightmares. Roy was hugging himself, almost trying to hide. Ross was just shaking, holding his hands to his chest. Robert had tried hiding in his coat. Elaine was laying on her back, breathing so fast it was like she was hyperventilating. Rai looked like she was trying to hide as well, just in a different way than Roy. They had no outside help, they were trapped. They didn’t know how to get out, they all thought they were awake. Too afraid to realize what was actually happening to them. They all felt like they were reliving their trauma, experiencing their worst fears. They were helpless, trapped in their own heads. They continued to mumble, twitch, or whatever connected to what was happening in their heads. Their glowing eyes the only source of light for what looked like miles. Well, the stars shone above them. Twinkling with no pattern, like they didn’t need to be connected to be beautiful. Like they didn’t need to be perfectly in line to be beautiful.
Ross was the first to wake up, his fears weren’t the worst. They may have been terrifying to him but even he managed to get over it. He had actually woken up, not like he thought he had been before. He saw everyone, he didn’t even try to comprehend what was happening. He instantly went to try and wake the rest up. He went to Elaine first, knowing she’d be the most sensible and most likely to help him. He tried shaking her awake but that didn’t seem to do anything. After a minute of thinking it through he thought of something, he began to listen closely to her mumbling. When he realzied what she was mumbling about he became worried, but he pushed it back that he could fix this. He began to talk to her, coaxing her out of her nightmare. When she managed to overcome her fear she woke up, sitting up quickly. After the shock of everything wore off Ross explained what he thought was happening. Something about the creature punishing then for not getting along. Elaine had to sit and think about how stupid that was for a minute. When she noticed Rai crying she stopped though, running to her without second thought. She held her and was trying to talk to her, but Rai wasn’t mumbling. Elaine had no clue how to help. Ross went to help Robert, he knew Robert could help with both Rai and Roy. Luckily for them Robert ended up waking up on his own. He panicked when he was bombarded by Ross and Elaine trying to explain everything. He didn’t know who to help. His sister, or his best friend. He decided to go help Roy, he knew Rai well. He knew how strong she was.
He ran over to Roy and listened for any way he could help. He quickly realized what it was about when he saw how Roy was holding onto his sweater. He began to try to talk to him to calm him down, trying to help him realize it was a nightmare. It took a little longer than expected to get him awake again. He wouldn’t let go of Ross or Robert, either holding their hand or hugging their arm. When one walked away he went to the other, he just needed support. They knew this and they were willing to help him with it. Elaine was still trying to wake up Rai, but she had no idea what was wrong. Her brain to scattered to try and figure out what it was. Robert had an idea, but he knew how upset she was, she wouldn’t listen to him. She began to shake Rai to try and wake her up, it didn’t work. Neither did yelling, if anything that made it worse. Elaine just began to cry, she didn’t know what to do and it hurt her so much. The boys weren’t the best with emotional things, so they stood to the side. Roy would walk up and try slapping her to wake her up, but Elaine just started yelling at him. He ran to hide behind Ross and Robert after that. Elaine didn’t know what to do, she couldn’t handle it, so she just cried.

After a few minutes of Elaine crying Rai would begin to shift around, Elaine froze and just stared. She began to yell again, trying to tell her it was just a dream, that she needed to wake up. When Rai stopped moving Elaine just yelled louder, she needed her to wake up, no matter the consequences. She would shake her, yell in her face, and sob on her chest. But nothing was waking her up. The boys felt a little bad if they were being honest, but Elaine wouldn’t let them anywhere near her. So helping was out of the question until Elaine realized she needed help, which wouldn’t be anytime soon. So they came up with a plan, they didn’t particularly like it but it needed to be done. Roy and Ross would sneak up on her and hold her back, she flailed around trying to get out of their hold and back to Rai. Robert would go over and try to help Rai, he was her brother, he should know how to wake her up right? He just sat there for a minute, unsure of what to do. Eventually he realized what it was about, he took a deep breath and tried to talk her out of it. He tried telling her it wasn’t real, but she just wasn’t waking up. He didn’t know it had scarred her that badly. She wasn’t waking up, he didn’t like that, none of them did. At some point Roy and Ross lost their hold on Elaine.
Elaine barreled past Robert and held onto Rai tight, yelling at them for trying to hold her back. She wasn’t trying to be obsessive, she just wanted to help. The four began to argue, completely forgetting about Rai and her situation entirely. They only remembered when they heard coughing, then they slowly turned to look at her as she sat up. “What happened..?” She saw them all staring at her. “What? Why are you all staring?” There was a beat of silence before they dogpiled her in a hug. She began to yell and try to shove them all off, she didn’t mean it in a bad way though. Luckily they knew that well enough, they refused to let go. When they did get off so she could breathe they saw all of their surroundings were normal again. Trees weren’t surrounding them, streetlights were on, and they weren’t surrounded by absolute horrors from their past. They decided to leave the park and never come back unless there were others around. Surely that monster couldn’t trap everyone right? Too many people in the town argue with each other, it’d be impossible.
As they were walking back they made jokes and just talked about what they had seen, Roy was the only one who didn’t joke about it. They all respected his decision, so they wouldn’t make any jokes either. Rai made a lot of jokes, acting like the whole thing was just a show. They were definitely a little concerned, but they knew that’s just how she dealt with her trauma, so they laughed along for her sake. They weren’t sure where to go after that so they all just went home, to their own homes this time. They all broke up during their walk, only Rai and Robert ended up walking together. It was quiet for a while, both of them just eating their candy until Robert spoke up. “Hey, why were you and Roy up so early? I mean, I know you get up early, but he never does. He mentioned something about you guys talking but he wouldn’t say anything else.” Rai almost choked on the piece of candy she was eating. “Oh- well- if he wouldn’t say anything about it maybe he..didn’t you know..want anyone to know anything. And I respect other people's privacy!” She was incredibly nervous, making Robert suspicious.
He practically stared her down the rest of the walk home, hoping to break her and get some answers. It didn’t work, she completely ignored him. When they got home she ran off to her room, leaving their older brother confused. He just pointed in the direction she ran in, Robert sighed in frustration, sitting his candy down next to him. “I don’t know what it is! She’s hiding something..but I don’t know what!” Radford just nodded in agreement, shoving some of Roberts candy in his mouth. “She’s always hiding something..” His words muffled by the candy. When his younger brother realized he was eating the candy he punched his shoulder and took it to his room. What if he called Roy and asked? Roy lied, but he didn’t lie to his friends. He wouldn't.
Tee hee😁
I GOT BORED SO STARTING ANOTHER STORY
Restlessness Pt. 1
next part
It was a quiet night, just like every other night. Rick quit yet another job, it seemed like he could barely make it through a week in one job. Though, a couple weeks ago he finally moved out after saving enough money, he was glad to leave that house. Even if he left some things behind. While he was heating up some old leftovers he heard a knock. He sighed and set the food down, answering the door with a scowl. It quickly changed to a look of confusion and concern when he saw his younger sister. She had a backpack and a duffle bag with her, she was trying to talk but she was crying too much. It all sounded like jumbled nonsense to him, she was always the more emotional one of the two. He wasn’t sure how to handle it so he just brought her inside, sitting her down and getting her a cup of water. She had been crying so hard she was coughing, he tried his best to console her but he wasn’t used to it.
Eventually she was able to calm down, taking small sips of water and breathing slower. She was still incredibly shaky though, her hands shook so bad she couldn’t hold the cup. He still didn’t understand what was wrong, or why she was here. “Why are you here? Did something happen? Is everything okay?” His voice was flat, it wasn’t entirely his fault. She understood though, she heard it like it was filled with emotion. “They just- they told me to pack up all my things- and they wouldn’t tell me why. When I got in the car they just started yelling- and getting onto me- they said things like- i-i’m too childish- and I just need to leave-” She couldn’t finish her explanation, she started crying again. Luckily he understood it enough, their parents kicked her out. They kicked a twelve year old out because she was childish. “I told them that I didn’t know where to go- so they dropped me off here- they said that you obviously cared more about me- so you can watch me-” She felt terrible, she didn’t want to intrude on anything, especially his home life. “I-I can leave if you want! After tonight i’ll be gone I swear!-” She was cut off when he put his hand over her mouth. “You aren’t leaving, you’re staying here with me. Got it?” She wasn’t sure how to answer, shoving his hand away she mumbled, “I don’t want to be a bother, they thought I was why wouldn’t you?” He only heard the first part of the mumble. “Everythings a bother. You’ll be fine.”

It was a struggle to get her in bed that night, she didn’t want to sleep. She especially didn’t want to sleep in his bed. It was his place, not hers. She’d feel horrible if she slept on his bed while he slept somewhere else. After about ten minutes he managed to trap her in a blanket and sat her on the bed, she flailed around for a few minutes before stopping. He didn’t care that she was mad about the situation, he just wanted her to rest. He stayed there until she was asleep, since she was such a deep sleeper he untrapped her from the blanket, giving her room to move how she wanted. He left the room and put his shoes and coat on, he grabbed his phone and wallet before leaving. He knew where he was going, and he knew what he was going to do when he got there. He got in his car and began to drive. He knew she’d be safe there alone, everyone knew he didn’t have much to steal anyways. Plus, she knew how to stick up for herself, she’d be fine.
He sighed as he pulled up to a familiar house, he hated this house, he hated the memories he had there. Well, not all the memories, but he still hated the people inside. When he knocked on the door he heard the laughing from inside stop for a minute, then the door opened. A woman answered, she had a smile, which turned into a scowl for a moment. Then back to a fake smile, trying to stay on his good side. “Oh! I wasn’t expecting you here tonight.” She said in the fakest voice he’s ever heard, it reminded him of a customer he had to deal with once. He also knew why she wasn’t expecting him. “Don’t worry, she’s safe.” His voice was laced with sarcasm. “You know you can’t just leave her right? What if I call the polce and tell them? What would you do then?” He added quickly, “You wouldn’t call them! We’ll make up a story like we always do anyways.” She was so snarky, after a minute of polite bickering a man would walk up behind the woman, luckily he was more sober than she was. The two would whisper to each other for a minute before looking back at Rick. “You’re not bringing her back. If you do we’ll make a big deal that you kidnapped her and threatened us if we called the police.” The man explained while the woman just laughed. “I never said I was bringing her back, but I hope you realize how childish it was to kick her out.” “She is a unforgivable brat!-” “No she isn’t, you two just didn’t care about her enough. You cared about me too much and now I like to be alone. You haven’t cared about her enough and now she’s attention starved. You act like the child.” Rick quickly cut them off, he wasn’t in the mood to deal with them. “We are great parents! She’s just a brat! She’s spoiled!” “She isn’t spoiled, you’d know that if you actually raised her.” He then walked off without another word, listening as they yelled behind him.
When he got home he didn’t take off his shoes or coat or anything, he just sat down on the couch. Staring at the ceiling he could only think about the situation he was in. He didn’t have the proper lifestyle to care for anyone, he could barely take care of himself. He didn’t want her to go into foster care or anything like that though, he was to worried to leave her alone. He’d have to get better, for her sake. He sighed and got up, deciding to check on her. When he looked into his room she was still fast asleep, which was good. He quietly shut the door and went back to the couch, laying down this time. He was tired, and he had a lot he needed to do tomorrow. He fell asleep with these thoughts, it was hard to even stay asleep. His sister ended up waking up in the middle of the night, she got up and wandered around. She took note of everything, the food, the apartment, everything. It made her worry, when she saw him sleeping on the couch she felt even worse. She went to grab the blanket he trapped her in and laid it over him. She just stood there, she already felt like a burden. She just wanted to run out and leave everyone alone. But she couldn’t, she still had more to do. She had to make something of herself, she needed some importance in life. After a couple minutes of silently staring she’d sit down on the other end of the couch, falling asleep with her jacket as a blanket.
