Summaries - Tumblr Posts
I don’t understand why books have shifted from having summaries on the back of the covers to having one-line reviews.
Seriously though. I want to know what the book is about. Not that someone from the Evening Standard thinks it’s a masterpiece.
fanfic titles be like “we have not touched the stars (nor are we forgiven)” and then you look at the tags & the first one is “anal fisting”
Who, if they were afraid of losing their beloved, would try to rectify the situation by prostituting themselves behind that loved one’s back? NOBODY, THAT’S WHO. I would have believed it if Linneus chose to become a courtesan because staying home was his greatest priority. You know, if he simply didn’t want to leave the Teahouse no matter what. He’d already lost one home so it’s even quite believable that Linneus might have strong feelings about being completely uprooted again. Becoming a prostitute for Atros makes no fucking sense and I’m so disappointed with this kind of stupid, moronic writing! It’s like it has to be super romantic so of course he’s doing it for love and no other reason! Well, all you accomplish by going for that extra bit of drama is to make your character look like a complete idiot who can’t figure out that cheating might be a teensy bit counterproductive in saving a romantic relationship. Ugh. Writing tip: don’t ever write anything like this thing. Ever. Let’s discuss this, please, manifestoonmoralmansex?
Linneus and Atros' summary: PART 1

Ok so this is late (Hey! It’s like a Teahouse tradition!) AND it’s only part 1.
So here’s the deal. I’ve been struggling with how to do Linneus and Atros’ story and this is the conclusion I’ve come to, it’s going to take more than one part. It may take only two, it may take three. Honestly, their stuff is so fucking dense that realistically, the post for them alone would be forever long. So I’m chopping it up.
For this part though, it’s ALL BACK STORY. By the end of this, you’ll get why Atros is so fucked up in the head. Expect at least one more post tomorrow, possibly more.
And finally, before the actual post, we have something lined up for you guys tomorrow. Consider it a fun little gift from us to you for your loyalty through the years. :) Love you guys! ENJOY!

Do you ever pick up something with a summary that's not super detailed (by which I mean pretty gosh darn vague) but you decide to read it expecting it to be lighthearted and then it deals massive psychological damage from how completely unhinged it is
super simple low-effort ao3 summary methods that are 1000% better and 1000% less annoying than just saying you suck at summaries:
copypaste the first few lines of the fic. u already wrote 'em. let 'em be their own damn hook
if ur feeling fancy & don't mind showing ur hand a bit, copypaste the first few lines of the fic that u feel are esp. Important or Interesting - the ones where u first start getting into the real meat of things
state the main tropes! theyre probably already in ur tags - just say them again - maybe as a full sentence if ur feelin fancy. or with a joke if ur feelin Extra fancy
ask a question. pose a hypothetical. eg what happens if u take [character] and put them in [situation]?
make an equation. [character] + [thing] = [outcome]
just write like a one-sentence summary of what the fuck is going down. just one (1) sentence. doesnt matter if it doesn't cover every important aspect. or if it sounds bland. any summary sentence is gonna be miles better than "idk i suck at summaries"
just...explain the fic like u would to a friend? it doesnt have to be a polished back of the book blurb. it can just be "[pairing] coffee shop au, but like, still with murder, and also i made everyone trans. enjoy"
just stick a meme in there
honestly who cares
just put literally anything but a self deprecating comment in there & ur golden
