I Dont Understand Why Books Have Shifted From Having Summaries On The Back Of The Covers To Having One-line

I don’t understand why books have shifted from having summaries on the back of the covers to having one-line reviews.

Seriously though. I want to know what the book is about. Not that someone from the Evening Standard thinks it’s a masterpiece. 

me: “god, i would give my heart and soul for this character”

also me: “so anyway what’s the worst thing that could happen to them?”

I don’t want to write this extremely specific fanfic of which I am the primary audience, I just want to read it.
