i bring more autobot!swindle. plus my attempt at writing his backstory
disclaimer : most of the stuff below isn't canon i just wrote this for fun. if u guys wanna make ur own swindle backstories i invite yall to do so :D we will make our own swindle content
swindle came online during cybertron's early years of the age of expansion. the autobots (with their goal to expand cybertron's empire) engineered a set of bots who would serve cybertron as its intergalactic merchants, programmed to be ambitious bots who sought profit. they also came with bigger processors (for storing transactions and whatnot) and versatile frames (so they could withstand organic climates)
shortly after coming online, swindle was assigned a teacher (another merchant) who'd pass down the knowledge of the trade. swindle did his best to keep up with his lessons
as a student, swindle was determined and clever. as a bot, though...eughh...
- he had less of a filter, and didn't know how to keep a poker face
- his little new England accent used to be a lot thicker (think earthspark swindle)
- very friendly, had a lot of amicas back in the day (he was definitely the "I know a bot" guy). it was a struggle for him to keep quiet
- loved hands on activities, hated sitting still
- kept a journal detailing his intergalactic trips. tried to doodle any organics he found interesting
- LOVED shiny stuff. he was like a crow lmao
- his sharp glossa would sometimes get his aft beat
- despite being a chatterbox, he wasn't as suave back then. he'd often get himself in awkward situations, which he'd try to talk himself out of the embarrassment but he'd end up digging a deeper hole for himself
- petty king. also kinda nosy and had a thing for gossip
- loved pranking, and teased the bots he liked
once he was ready, swindle was given a ship and assigned a trading post (as a starting point). from that point, swindle was a rootin tootin merchant and nothing bad ever happened to him again :D...
...
until the quintessa skirmishes
the age of expansion ended with border disputes between cybertron and quintessa. multiple skirmishes sproutted along the border, and while swindle didn't fight in them, he was certainly caught in the crossfire. swindle ended up with a broken ship, a looted inventory, and a bungled up frame. he had to return to cybertron for repairs
back on cybertron, swindle finds a planet wildly different from the one he knows. tensions between autobots and decepticons are rising, and the banks aren't holding up that great. swindle finds himself in a tight spot (financially speaking) since he still has to deal with his losses from quintessa. unable to go back to his actual merchant job, swindle resorts to taking odd jobs to keep himself afloat (yes, even stealing)
when the war breaks out, swindle gets drafted into the front lines (a decision that still baffles him to this day). since he's not much of a fighter, the autobots have swindle work as a spy, ordering him to smuggle weapons out of decepticon servos...
in future hindsight, that was a poor decision

treasury - his subspace acts like a treasury if you kinda think about it
fortune - idk it sounds cute. besides fortune tends to "favor the bold and clever"

Swindle Bakery AU!
Massachusetts, May 13th, 2155.
Swindle finds himself on Earth, nearly inches away from offlining. His entire frame aches, and his processor rings inside his helm. His data tracks can only replay a couple of memories before he slips into stasis mode. Bots chasing him, a shoot-out in an alien bar, him scanning a new alt mode, a ship crashing into the ground...
From there, it all goes black. Swindle didn't come back online until he found a little old lady seated behind the wheel, desperately trying to start the engine.
Swindle paused for a moment. When did this organic find him? What was she trying to do with him?
And when Swindle looked around and saw he was now parked at a car dealership, he wondered how he had managed to get himself there in the first place.
And he was horrified to find out that he didn't remember.
Summary
due to unfortunate circumstances involving a crash-landing and persecution from the Elite Guard, swindle finds himself back on Earth without any memory of how he got there. he's fortunate enough to find a sweet old lady, mabel, who offers him shelter while swindle tries to recollect his memories
during his stay, they both discover the other's talent. swindle nibbles on one of mabel's cookies (because he was damn near starving and couldn't find any energon or oil (and also he has a mod which allows him to digest some organic food, in case he's stranded without fuel)) and quickly becomes obsessed with mabel's baking
mabel, on the other hand, admires swindle for his knack for business. she laments how useful that skill must be and how she doesnt have it; maybe if she was more like swindle, she could save her dying bakery (which is like. 5 dollars away from bankruptcy lol)
the two then decide to strike a deal; swindle shares his expertise in exchange for a roof over his head (and an unlimited supply of treats). from there begins their alliance and they both start to reap the benefits from it in the form of profit.
what they both didn't expect to gain from this partnership, though, is a friendship

Autobot! Swindle
or as I'll call him from now on, Quickdime
ok so originally I was gonna make more doodles of him but honestly I got tired of drawing so u guys get these.
to the left is a young swindle, fresh out the protoform pod, being given his original designation; quickdime. it wasn't long before he was ushered out to begin his merchant training
and to the right is that same swindle (or quickdime ig) during the early-ish parts of the war. i mentioned in my last autbot!swindle post that swindle got drafted into serving as a spy, and here one can assume that swindle was mighty successful at his job. his fellow spies always praised swindle for his eerie knowledge over decepticon battle plans
if only they knew...

swindle is an open-minded bot. so long as you can pay the fee
to be honest with you guys, I'm kinda torn on whether or not swindle would be a chronic-overspender or a massive cheapskate
I mean. I get it: swindle is flashy. swindle has expensive taste. swindle dreams of being spoiled, of a house full of lavish things with a belly full of high-grade energon. and he damn well has enough shanix and credits to buy said things.
but would he be so bold as to spend his money on it?
a part of me says yes. I mean, swindle is living through wartime. maybe a part of him thinks that if he doesn't treat himself today, he might not live tomorrow to enjoy the comfort of his wealth. hence all the fancy mods, beautiful furniture, sleek spaceships, etc.
besides, it helps with stress. gives swindle a rush of dopamine when he purchases something costly. it's a symbol that all of his crimes and hard work have amounted to something. that what he's done is justified (at least to him). let all the glorified "morality-policing" bots clutch their pearls at his greed, at least swindle can AFFORD to indulge
that's something many bots can't do nowadays
besides, swindle is kiiinda conceited and DEFINITELY self-entitled. with a mech like that, who's surprised that he has some alarming spending habits?
but another part of me argues that BECAUSE swindle is in a war, he'd be even more stingy with his money. after all, I think it's a fair assumption to say swindle uses his wealth as a leverage. it places him in the lap of luxury. it buys him out of danger. it gains him intel from bots with loose lips. it keeps bots in debt to him. it silences his opponents. it fetches him bots willing to do favors for him (ex. mercenaries and such). apart from his wit and words, money is one of swindle's deadliest weapons
and if he spent that money on something expensive, then swindle would, by extent, be risking his life
I kinda find the latter idea more compelling
though, he could be somewhere down the middle. some weeks, swindle can't seem to stop spending. hes maxing out his credit card, filling his cart to the brim with meaningless items, piling and piling on more debt.
the next few weeks, swindle is under a strict budget, skimping meals, stressing over the amount of debt he's collected and overworking himself in order to compensate for it all
he's stuck with this dilemma. and he can never seem to get out of it. he WANTS to be able to spend on himself, wants that life of comfort he craves. but he can only spend so much before his consciousness takes over and chastises him for being reckless. the only way he ever slips back into spending is when his greedy nature comes in and encourages swindle to work harder on his business. scam a couple of bots. plan some heists. that'll get the credits rolling in. and after a nice little profit or two, swindle will be able to treat himself again, after weeks of processor-breaking hustling.
it's an endless cycle of overindulgence and abstinence. there is no middle ground. he's always on either side on the spectrum. swindle's greed might make him successful, yes, but it's also destroyed his relationship with money
I dunno. feel free to share your thoughts. I just like the idea of swindle's greed creating more problems for him, even though he argues his life has gotten drastically better ever since he out himself and money first

personally i luv it when artists draw swindle looking either:
disheveled
stressed
furious
irked
exhausted
all of the above in that order
and I'm not sure why that is. maybe because it's interesting to see someone usually so calm and collected finally snap and pushed to his limits?
or maybe because I find it comforting that swindle has emotions that go beyond greed and selfishness? and getting to see him like this makes him more...I'm not sure what to call it. more dimensional? like, no matter how much he has undoubtedly changed throughout his life, there's still a part of him that will undeniably remain the same, no matter how much swindle plays the part of a businessbot
eh. who knows. this was fun 2 draw either way

TFA Headcanon of the Day
Hey guys, Lia here!! Long time, no see! Here are more random thoughts in my brain.
Swindle turned the "S" in his name into a dollar sign on his "designation certificate" once he learned about American currency in Detroit. Mainly because he thinks it'll add to his net worth if there's extraterrestrial currency attached to his name.

Actually, it's $windle. Spell it right.
And every time he says his name, there's a little cash register sound playing in the distance.
Megabee Harry potter au!
1- Megatron is a slytherin and embodies its values to a t despite being a halfblood.
2- bumblebee is a hufflepuff that everyone swears should have been in griffindoor.
3- megatron is like Tom riddle, top of the class, teachers love him, small group of followers, very charming and well mannered that sort of thing.
4- bumblebee is both weasly twins rolled into one body and proud of it. He's infamous for his pranks and gag stuff which he often sells to others.
5- Megatron specializes in defense against the dark arts and astronomy.
6- bee has a love for potions and charms which feeds into his pranking.
7- megatron has a tiny yellow and black cat named honey that completely dotes on.
8- bee has massive grey maine coon named megazark that bee utterly adores.
9- they met when megatron spotted bee using a particularly complex charm for one of his pranks and was immediately intrigued by this pranksters abilities.
10- bee noticed megatron spying on him and thought he was going to snitch so he charmed megatrons cloak to tie him up.
11- needless to say megatron ended up a little star struck by bee's abilities and immediately got to planning on how to befriend him.
12- when bee confronted him megsy started gushing about how amazingly complicated the charms he used were.
13- bee was amused by this weirdo and offered to let him help.
14- mega accepted and they quickly became friends.
15- it eventually evolves into mutual pinning but neither of them realise.
16- this fact is not helped by them both speaking exclusively in flirtation and not knowing if the other is serious or not.
17- they're both incredibly smart dumbasses and I love them for it.
18- bee knows all the secret passages and has a habit of popping up in places at random.
19- he keeps breaking into the slytherin dorm to hangout with Megan.
20- megatron regularly gifts bee jewelry and other such shiny things because he's a corvid at heart.
21- in turn bee makes megatron little charms to help him with whatever he needs.
22- so far the star chart that moves with the actual stars and the snake bracelet that squeezes when someone lies to him are his favorites.
23- megsy makes his wealthier followers buy particularly rare and pricey potion ingredients for him so he can gift them to bee.
24- he gets kisses in return along side any potions he wants.
25- they love going on hogsmead dates and regularly raid honey dukes when they do.
26- bee is a surprisingly good cook and regularly sneaks into the kitchen to make goodies for his friends.
27- megatron is the main recipient of countless baked goods by delivery of cat.
28- they both regularly sneak into the restricted section it's just that no one questions a "good kid" like megatron.
29- bee on the other hand is an infamous chaos gremlin.
30- the teachers regularly advise megatron to be careful with bee which they both find hilarious.
31- team prime do not approve of megatron because they all know his deal.
32- the cons on the other hand are surprisingly chill with bee.
33- Soundwave also specializes in charms and they're constantly competing with eachother.
34- megatron and magnus are both prefects who hate eachothers guts.
35- coincidentally magnus used to baby sit bee and they kinda grew up together making things exponentially more complex.
Swindlelockbee fantasy au
1- bee is a fairy prince who got cursed, exiled and his wings removed for going behind his mother's back to save a mortal.
2- swindle is a satyr who was cursed to turn into a beast at night alla the owl beast from toh
3- lockdown is a human cursed to die ten years time and slowly decay from the inside out as a living zombie during that time.
4- they're traveling together searching for shards of an ancient magic gem that can undo their curses while trying to avoid the elite guard Thanks to stealing a shard from ultra magnus.
5- the decepticons are also vying for the gem shards and megatron specifically wants to get bee to join him because he was the mortal bee saved all those years ago.
6- lockdown was cursed by his mother, a nahuala, who poisoned him while he was hiding out at her place after stealing sacred runes.
7- swindle has an amulet that suppresses his curse but it needs to recharge each week while progressively burning out faster and faster.
8- the ritual to recharge the amulet requires specific companents most of which are illegal to anyone other than court sorcerers.
9- locks' dad is yoketron and prowl is his half brother who's currently hunting the trio in an attempt to capture them.
10- this is because yoketron and prowl believe that all locks destructive actions are a result of being bewitched by bumblebee.
11- prowl joins there little band in the interest of curing l.d after a messy confrontation including alot of shenanigans and both bee and swin getting captured.
12- they're later joined by jazz who is an old friend of bee's exiled and cursed to bring misfortune anywhere he goes for stealing something from the fairy queen.
13- jazz also reveals that bee's mother plans to take him back and replace his wings but use them to bind him to her for the rest of her life and leave the curse in place.
14- bee's mama is nuts, she ripped bee's wings from his back herself in order to lock away his magic and ensure he can never overthrow her.
15- needless to say swindle and lock are in protection mode since they've spent enough nights settling him from nightmares about the woman to hate her guts.
16- they do eventually unite all the shards but they can only use it once leading to them arguing about who to use it on.
17- lockdown and swindle agree to wish bees wings back so he can return home defeat his mom and undo his curse.
18- after they send him away they're captured by the elite guard and imprisoned for execution.
19- bee manages to defeat his mother and gains a massive magical boost as a result which he uses to free his boos.
20- he brings them back to the fairy world and rids them of their curses with the classic true loves kiss.
