wait i'm not done yet i have to continue on what i just said about the Jeweler Richard novels being so incredibly aspec. There's Tanimoto, an important female character who is introduced as the main character's love interest, who gets her own arc about how she finds the whole world of love and romance utterly foreign, expressing a lot of feelings that would definitely resonate with anyone who identifies as ace and/or aro even if they don't outright refer to these terms in the novel.
But there's also Seigi, the main character himself, who definitely loves Richard, arguably more than anyone even if he claims to be in love with Tanimoto, and a big part of his character arc is precisely about sifting through these feelings. Because what he feels for Richard is not strictly romantic, but it also couldn't be called platonic, at least not in the way perceived by society, but he doesn't seem to even want to define it any further, because what matters most is that he loves Richard in a way that matters to him, in a different way but no less important to how he feels for Tanimoto. And Richard loves him too, and this ambiguity that is simultaneously a tacit agreement between Richard and Seigi is precisely the thing that carries the story forward.
So ultimately you get a narrative that is very queer in itself, but also specifically very aspec in the way that it refuses to make any clear distinction between romantic and platonic love, and leaves it at that while still showing just how important Seigi and Richard are for each other.

The Case Files of Jeweler Richard Vol. 8 releases soon and I am soooo excited for it! But I also really really wish more people would read it! This series is SO explicitly queer, from the way that Seigi and Richard interact with each other, to the people they help, to the beliefs that both of them hold. It is also so incredibly aspec! Not only is the character that Seigi is in love with explicitly aroace, even if the words aren’t used exactly, but the relationship between between Richard and Seigi reads as extremely queer platonic. The way they grow together, nurture each other, and become the best versions of themselves as the series goes on is so beautiful and I really encourage you to read them, if you’re anywhere on the aspectrum like I am. You might find it’ll make your day!
Thank you so much for all your recs! :D I absolutely love Saiki K and TenSura, and I only just started Frieren, so it makes me really excited to know that elves in Frieren are canonically aroace. In turn, I have some recs for you (two series that I really love):
The Case Files of Jeweler Richard - a contemporary setting where the main character, Seigi, comes to work for a jeweler named Richard. There’s an aroace character named Shouko Tanimoto in the series! And while the main characters (Seigi and Richard) get told a lot by side characters that surely they’re involved romantically, their relationship can definitely be read as queerplatonic or as Seigi being demiromantic and coming to terms with that over the course of the series. (There’s a scene in the series where Tanimoto tells Seigi he can care about Richard more than what people say a friend would, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that what he feels for Richard is romantic, only he can decide that.) I’m unsure how good the anime is though, as I’ve only read the novels. There is a manga adaptation, though!
Moriarty the Patriot - the characters of William and Sherlock both read as the genius type who have no interest in romance or the like. So it’s more of a very strong head canon, though Sherlock did say at one point he just isn’t interested in women. Again, I haven’t watched the anime, but I did read the manga. It’s a shounen, but doesn’t feel like one! It can very violent and gory sometimes, so proceed with caution if you decide to check it out.
