Nothing would've been enough to prepare the Tin Man for what his life would be after gaining a heart. Seemingly in an instant, he grows increasingly sentimental over many things and people; most noteable of which being his dear friend (Y/N). He wonders why he finds it so difficult to speak to you now, and tries his best to keep the hammering in his chest as quiet as possible.
Amused with their friend's terrible attempt at flirting, Scarecrow and Lion try and help him out (with the little knowledge they have themselves on courting).
Warnings: Tin Man feels a lot of Emotions and doesn't know how to deal with them properly

"You know, you're usually supposed to be around the person you're trying to court."
Tin Man anxiously peaked his head out the window of his home, metallic hands audibly shaking as he drew back the curtain. Scarecrow had been going on for what seemed like hours now, prying his way into his love life after making a quick comment on a project he had been working for (Y/N). The Tin Man sighs, knowing that while Scarecrow meant no harm with his statement, he was delivering a pretty harsh truth. In all honesty, he didn't know what was wrong with him. Everyone in Oz was comfortable enough to hold a conversation with you. Why not him?
"Pah! Who knew a guy with such a cold exterior would become such a softy?" Lion teases, setting up little tea sandwiches for the evening's get-together. Tin Man had been planning this evening for what seemed like ages now, enlisting the help of the two friends to be sure that everything would be perfect upon your arrival.
Scarecrow playfully nudges Lion, rolling his eyes. "I would say the same thing about you, ya' big furball. When we first met, your bark was certainly a lot bigger than your bite!"
Tin Man felt his lips attempt to quirk up into a smile, before they froze in an awkward in-between phase. He taps on the table, hoping to get the other's attention ─ it was dreadfully difficult to talk with you mouth being stuck half-closed. Lion sighs, grabbing the oil can.
Tin Man had been crying, still unable to get a steady grasp on stress. He would cry over things most people might deem silly, but to him it felt like the fate of the world itself.
"Let a real man tell you how to court (Y/N)." Lion slicks back his mane cockily, leaning across the table. "Rub your scent on their things. I'm talking clothes, couch, door, the whole nine yards."
His scent? He wasn't too sure you'd be very fond of everything in your home smelling like oil ─ this surely had to just be a lion thing.
Scarecrow tuts, shaking his head. "No, no! You've got it all wrong." He stands up, sticking a determined finger into the air. "Make them their favorite foods! For best results, i'd say that you mix all their favorite foods into one-love filled meal."
"Fellas, this all and fine and dandy," Tin Man begins, in hopes to stop the two from bickering, "But none of this advice is not going to do me any good if I hardly have the nerve to ask about their day."
That would certainly be an issue, wouldn't it? His friends slumped back in their chairs, trying to come up with another solution. Their little brainstorming session is cut short when they hear knocking on the door. Tin Man jumps up, falling to the floor with a loud clatter. Even after his landing, a his heart can still be heard banging inside his chest.
Scarecrow gives him a sympathetic pat on the back. "I would say to just be yourself, but if this is what the night entails, i'd be goin' for a more watered down approach." Lion delivers a smack to the back of his head, shooting him a quick glare. Scarecrow laughs it off. "Hey, hey! I was only jokin' with him. I'm sure this night will go on just fine."

You awkwardly sipped on your tea, painfully aware of the tension in the room. Lion couldn't look you in the eye, Scarecrow seemed as he was about to bust a seam from laughter, and Tin Man was quaking. You coughed into your hand. "So, how have you all been?"
"I've been all fine and dandy now, (Y/N)," He begins, before slinging an arm around Tin Man, pulling him in. "Thank's for askin'! Lion's been up to nothin', probably, but I think you'd have a great time seein' what Tinny over here's been workin' on."
Tin Man lets out a frightened squeak as your eyes whip over to him. Curse that scarecrow! It was meant to be a suprise for later... later being, whever he gathered the courage. Which, in all fairness would've probably been never.
"Ah, well─" He finally manages to stutter out, hands fumbling around a nearby drawer. "I'm not─ it's not, ah, a big deal or anything but─"
He practically throws a little wooden carving at you, hands rushing back to his sides in a desperate attempt to keep your fingers from lingering on his. Holding the gift in your hands, you feel your heart practically melt when you realize it's been made to look like your favorite animal. Each detail careful and precise... he must have spent a lot of time working on this.
"Thank you, Tin Man." You smile, looking over every detail of his craft in adoration. "It's beautiful!"
Tin Man lets out a sigh of relief. It was a small step, but a small step forward in the right direction. Now, he just hoped further advances in courting you would go as smoothly as this.
