Mountain Landscape
A slightly different feel from the usual Julier landscapes. This one is from Art with Flo.
I should start making better notes on the brushes I use, I think this one had a mix of hers and the default ones š

A Field of Flowers
A field of pretty wildflowers, curtesy of James Julier š

Window on a Brick Wall
Trying to do as many watercolour tutorials as I come across in the hope that the techniques start to stick š. This one is from Tatyworks.
I almost feel like itās cheating a bit to use a brick brush rather than draw it all by hand, but then, why not take advantage of modern tools š.

The Beach
Completed the ābeach grass landscapeā by James Julier.

Trees at Sunset
Another James Julier tutorial, a landscape with some trees at sunset.

The City
Something a little different from the usual landscapes, tried Tatyworks city skyline tutorial.

Waterfalls
April was a good month, managed to do quite a few pieces. This one is the waterfall landscape tutorial from James Julier.

Woodland Scene
Some trees with a flower meadow landscape, following along to a James Julier tutorial.

A Quick Sketch
A very quick tutorial, literally, itās basically 11 minutes, from Art with Flo to test out my new Apple Pencil.

Ferry Doodles - Hand Studies
Once we managed a seat I wasnāt really sure what to draw, so just ended up using my left hand as a model š¤ š
Some freehand doodling and sketching in pencil.

Ferry Doodles - A Rose by Any Other Name
Had time for one last quick doodle before heading back to the car. This time I used a picture of a rose I had taken as a reference. Used the Bardot pastel brushes.

A Sea of Blue
One of James Julierās older tutorials, the Pacific Islands landscape. Pretty blues š

Mountains and a River
I think this āmountain riverā tutorial from James Julier came out nicely š

A Fantasy Landscape
Tried the āsnow tree and starsā tutorial from James Julier. It gives off a bit of a fantasy vibe š
Have to admit, I got slightly distracted towards the end and the snow dunes arenāt exactly perfect, but thatās okay, itās the journey not the destination š

Asleep
A quick 10 minute pencil sketch. Just a few lines to remember what drawing humans feels like.
May and June was when I hit, not a road block, but more of a speed bump in my art journey. I stared to feel the desire to move forward from just following along to tutorials, but also insecurity at creating without guidance. I had to remind myself nothing starts out perfect and itās okay to make mistakes.
I always did best when using a picture as a guide, and I actually used to love drawing people. I didnāt have the confidence to start with them, hence all the landscapes š, but wanted to get back into humans/people. I found a picture on Google images to use as a reference and did this quick warm up using the default pencil brushes.

Arum Flower
Sometimes to get over a hump, you just have to go forward. Tried to draw an arum flower from a quick snapshot I took at the local Home Depot. Not bad, I used the Bardot gouache brushes for this one.
The picture I took as a reference.

Arum Flower 2
Decided to experiment a bit with the different brushes. I used the same flower reference, but tried the Bardot Pastel brushes.

Arum Flower 3
Since I was experimenting with brushes, did a final flower using the Bardot watercolour brushes.
Itās funny, the watercolour ones are the first ones I purchased, but it turns out the ones Iāve used least so far. I need to work on my watercolour techniques! š

Asleep, in Colour
One of the things I remember from high school art class was the teacherās comment on my sketchbook for āmore colourā. I also remember thinking, when did they teach me how to colour? Iāve always felt a lack of confidence with colour. Maybe because of that I wanted to try colouring my previous sketch. The nice thing about digital art, you donāt have to risk āruiningā the original or starting over, just duplicate it and go š
Decided to try out the gouache Bardot brushes for some extra practice.

Eyes
Practicing humans in a deconstructed way, did hands so tried some eyes next.
Used the default pencil and a random picture from Flickr as a reference. On the positive side, they are indeed eyes. On the other hand I didnāt get the expression right. Need more practice š
