Warm Up - Tumblr Posts

Asleep
A quick 10 minute pencil sketch. Just a few lines to remember what drawing humans feels like.
May and June was when I hit, not a road block, but more of a speed bump in my art journey. I stared to feel the desire to move forward from just following along to tutorials, but also insecurity at creating without guidance. I had to remind myself nothing starts out perfect and it’s okay to make mistakes.
I always did best when using a picture as a guide, and I actually used to love drawing people. I didn’t have the confidence to start with them, hence all the landscapes 😊, but wanted to get back into humans/people. I found a picture on Google images to use as a reference and did this quick warm up using the default pencil brushes.

BACKSTABBER…

Warm up? Giant Knight monster.

Octopus Pie fanart as today's warm up! It took 2.5 hours instead of 1, but it was worth it. Besides, I needed to make something this fun before I draw the next few pages of Flicker.
You can see the page of Ocpotus Pie I'm refrencing here: http://www.octopuspie.com/2012-02-06/509-you-silly-goose/
Also, included a Octopus Pie fanart I did I think 2 years ago. I did one even earlier, but it was by hand, and I'm pretty sure I gave it to Meredith at an SPX without ever scanning it. :(
Anyways, there you go! To Meredith Gran, one of my 3 favorite comic artists, and someone I hope to get a chance to hang out with a bit as an SPX exhibitor myself this year (but probably am too shy and uncool to do so).
Ask Box Open!!! (Warm-Up.)
Everyone. For practice and fun, you can ask ANY of my existing characters I draw, a question, it seems a lot, I know, I apologize. Just take a look at my spinning wheels of garbage in one of my posts. That includes the Slenderman AU as well. (HOW DID I HAVE GUTS RO POST THIS? WHY DO I FEEL SO ASHAMED?😳😖OMG HATE ME.😱😭) I will answer them as best as I can from the internet and my versions of answers and you can ask whatever you want. 🤠
-Marioverse, Nintendo
-Cuphead verse
"Creeper Paster" Slender man AU
-"Mystic Magic" Sofia the first AU 🐉

more practise on my wacom, it’s tedious and it’s taking me ages... but I think I’m slowly getting the hang of things. I always tend to overdo stuff so I decided to try and keep it simple, one layer for each colour... any good?

Practice at.. many things

being a self-taught artist with no formal training is having done art seriously since you were a young teenager and only finding out that you’re supposed to do warm up sketches every time you’re about to work on serious art when you’re fuckin twenty-five

People often say to me: “You draw like some kind of inhuman machine. If I eat your brain, will I gain your power?” The answer is yes, but there is another way. The key to precise drawing is building up muscle memory so that your arm/hand/fingers do the things you want them to do when you want them to do them. Teaching yourself to draw a straight line or to make sweet curves is just a matter of practice and there are some exercises you can do to help improve. If you’re going to be doodling in class or during meetings anyway, why not put that time to good use?
I wake up under the gaze of the bluest sky I've ever seen--although it's the same one I've seen damn near every day since moving to Arizona. David doesn't understand when I say there's something creepy about it. He also doesn't understand that I say it with love. Maybe it's the Midwestern Protestant in me that's wary of too much of a good thing. I can't help but to wonder about the cost, and the right side of the abacus grows ever-burdened. But I am relearning acceptance, I am relearning chaos. I have felt so close to my 16 year old self these days, the way I often do in September. The fruits are ripening, the fruits are falling, the thing to do now is embrace the rot. Every autumn felt so urgent as an adolescent, when I was waiting to become alive. I spent years with a knife at the ready, prepared to sacrifice blood for a moment, a limb for a true thrill. The perpetual blue skies of Arizona do come with a cost, but I am ready to pay it. I've never seen storms like these storms. I've never felt heat like this heat. And now, under this clearest bluest sky, I am waking up again.
OKAY listen up, this is a thread for all my cold friends out there who aren’t used to severe cold. HOW TO LAYER, A GUIDE TO STAYING WARM, USING ONLY CLOTHING YOU PROBABLY ALREADY HAVE, NO FANCY SILK UNDERWEAR OR WHATEVER.

DnD Warmup sketches
I'm in a desert themed DnD campaign inspired by 1001 Nights and Egyptian Mythology and the like.
My character, Raihaan Seacaster, is a half-elf fighter, specifically a mirage flavored echo knight. He was originally inspired by Sinbad the Sailor, but Raihaan has taken on a life of his own as an oblivious Momma's and Papa's boy who used to sail across the sands. He's dumb, but he's doing his best. LMAO
Also here in the third picture is Jinn, the party's bard/warlock! Jinn and Raihaan are an unstoppable team but are also the kind to get into trouble the most as a duo.
