Everyone - Meet Halling! Cryptid, Chimera, Creature, and my Original Trans Icon since 2016!
I always find myself at a loss for what to say in my captions lol.
These are all some old OCs from 2015. I've redrawn them a bunch of times since then, and they keep changing xD Aard is especially hard to pin down, but I think I'm getting there.
They are from a loose medieval fantasy story about Halling defining his place in the world, and getting payback on some mean wizards! >:) Idek, something something found family and monsters.
Leopard Seal Selkie Studies! Every seal is inherently friend shaped, so I did my best to remedy that. The boy with the scar is a brooding protagonist, and the loooong snooted woman is Seal Supremacy Grandma.

I've decided to name her Lidija for now; she's a cute little bugger, and her dad really does love her a lot!
Halling - Chimera - Male
In 6 years, I've never drawn this characters face and thought "Yeah thats the guy!". Until today, that is. Huh.

New OC Time! Her name is Martengold and she's a DΓΌlmener, a breed of wild pony from germany. I've had her only for a day so I only know: She once went on a really bad school trip and becomes BFF with my main characters and is an avid traveller!
OCs and OG creatures! First is Aard, he's a selkie, then comes a deer with 6 eyes (the OG design is a few years old. Not gonna show it, but it was basically just a black deer with all six eyes on it's head.)
Plus Xiao Chengyao and his uncle, Xiao Qiuyu. They are two minor characters, but they are two cool dudes :3
I still struggle with my human designs, but I feel like they are a good start!

More selkies! After some consideration I will stick to the bear/seal hybid designs. This makes them way more versatile and it makes sense that humans would want to transform into an animal that can swim as well as it can run. More rant under the cut
Many coastal folks have developed their own techniques for pelts, and can become selkies that are inspired by their local fauna. Pelt carving is a very delicate craft, and the resulting pelt can fail when it is damaged through trauma or simple wear and tear and requires lots of mending and checking - because a failing pelt can seriously harm a human. However, everyone who can work magic through a charm can use them.
True selkies hail from cultures who have been using these pelts for such a long time; the magic has affected them in such a way that sometimes, people are born with pelts. These grow with their owner, they are very robust and can heal on their own.
In the line-up you can see Seal Supremacy Grandma, Aard, which are ice bear/leopard seal selkies, and Lorri, she is a grizzly/walrus selkie :D
There are people you just don't want to mess with. But sometimes, they leave you no choice.
