My Headcanons for watcher lore
So there are watchers listeners and speakers and the three have the same power level so the watchers are not stronger than the others they have the same abilities the difference is how they respond and how they apply their power
Watchers abuse their powers for selfish purposes they will not restrain themselves and because they don’t feel the need to care about consequences they show their ludicrous strength more freely and do to that are seen as more powerful by everyone that knows about them
Listeners try to do something to stop the games and free the players that is what they use their powers for but they tread carefully they will be hesitant to do something to drastic they wait and listen for the right moment to act unlike the other two they put effort into being Subtle
Speakers are what happens when a listener gets to invested and it becomes personal they lose patience and they get desperate they can’t hold their tongues anymore so instead of listening to reason they get reckless
The watchers are apathetic and selfish only caring about their own entertainment and survival not giving a thought to the players wellbeing unless it messes with them
The listeners are realist and sympathetic when they saw the suffering they wanted to help but they don’t let it get to personal they help because it’s the right thing to do
The speakers are emotional and empathetic they are listeners that grew attached to the players they feel responsible for and when the players they love are hurt one to many times they lash out throwing caution out the window which is why there’s so few
They aren’t different creatures they are the same just at different stages of processing the fact that they are no longer human and have god like power
Power corrupts and combined with peer pressure from already existing watchers it’s no wonder the watchers have larger numbers
The color changes based on their temperament
The watchers are purple
The listeners are green
The speakers are orange
There’s not an immediate chance in color it works like a mood ring
Take Grian he is more watcher than listener and speaker but because he has attachments and empathy and only keeps his watcher title because he uses his powers for entertaining pranks his color is magenta just leaning a tad bit more purple though he is steadily been moving towards red (his two colors that he is associated with are red and purple)
So the Watchers hate Scott.
This is well established. And recently on stream InTheLittleWood talked about why (tldr; the Watchers feed off the negative emotions, the fear and loneliness and betrayal that the players generate during the games and in-between, and Scott just…refuses to be scared or lonely or feel betrayed, or hold grudges)
And I was thinking, at first, that the exception to this might be Third Life, where canonically after Jimmy died in the desert he felt so much grief it crystallized and literally became part of his character design. And I figured the Watchers should have at least gotten something from that.
Except.
He still had the crystals. Literally up until they were replaced with coral. Three seasons. Implying that it hadn’t been consumed by the Watchers. He really took his one negative leaning emotional experience, bundled it up and gave them nothing.
From day one
Mans just out here aggressively pursuing his cottagecore lifestyle in a death game with his friends to the point that other people come to him for interior decorating.
No wonder They hate his guts we love to see it.

Im gonna start with jimmy for god au stuff bc hes both the most interesting and the most sad? Actually no- maybe??? I dunno
God of death
Jimmy always dies first right?
He’s accepted the fate of death at this point
But this death he has the chair
He’s dead this is normal
But its not the same spooky black of his other deaths
He has power now he can feel it
and he doesn’t know why
The next person dies but instead of the normal friendly greeting
He gets the ability to pick if it actually happened
That shouldn’t be an option
But it is
He says no
all of sudden its like they never died
There back and on one heart but back
He doesn’t think much of it, the watchers just decided to be a bit silly
And then the next person dies and this time he says yes
And then their dead
The exist but under him
No idea of his existence of him above
Like there a little tv show for jimmy’s enjoyment
Is this how the watchers feel?
Having all this power at the tips of their fingers
Power jimmy now has
He feels like a god
Maybe he is one
But he wont let that get to his head
Not yet at least
Maybe later
