DxP REWRITE - Emmet
Meet DxP’s version of Emmet! When I played BDSP I thought Barry was…annoying lol. I had the idea for this story around the time I decided to finally play Shining Pearl, so I had the thought of just naming the rival “Emmet”.
When I squinted, I saw Barry’s striped jacket as Emmet’s striped Subway Boss coat, & interpreted his impatient running around as looking for clues about Ingo together with Ansy & Ikrit.
Apart from that, Emmet’s about the same as he is canonically: likes to spread smiles as much as he likes to smile himself, & “likes winning more than anything else!”
He seems to favor Electric, Bug, & Steel types as well as fossils. I could’ve just given him his Unovan team, but in my headcanon, there’re customs rules about that (my reasoning for why we can only have Pokemon that’s in each game). Although, it does appear that he has a little stowaway passenger who hid in his cap or coat lol.
🔽 After some thinking (mostly thanks to this Sword / Shield Submas run I’m playing), I decided Emmet & Ingo do nickname their Pokémon after rail terms after all lol. Most of them should be pretty easy to figure out - meanwhile, “Yurei” is short for “yureiresha” or “ghost train”, a word I heard constantly in a subbed Submas compilation from the anime lol.
