DxP REWRITE - Forest Badge

The Forest Badge might be my favorite of the Sinnoh badges; it’s a visual representation of “森 (mori)” or “forest” (the character for tree is “木”, & “mori” is just 3 of them grouped together, just like the badge is 3 trees. 🌳

So Hokkaido (Sinnoh) is known for a few of their flower fields! One flower they’re known for is actually lavender (they’re hardy & can take the cold). Tried to show that off a bit with Ansy & Ikrit’s sweet breakfast in Floraroma Town, taking from photos I’ve seen of their rainbow flower field. Meanwhile Eterna Forest is where Emmet found 2 more of his team: Yanma & Rotom.

Hmmm, Cyrus does indeed have “evil team leader” written all over, contemplating in front of the “Dialkia” statue lol. At least they could add the Draco Plate with the Insect & Dread Plates they got in this one.

PS: yes, like in the last one, these actually are about where you find all these Plates in BDSP.

Hurricane Helpers (day 3)

Got quite a few done today! It helped that there were a few here that were either simpler, or I’ve had some practice drawing 8u8;

I’ve also been seeing more donors from here on Tumblr! Thanks to all who came over to support the hurricane relief effort! ^7^

Today we have some more search / rescue, some medical, supplies, our first electrical repair (gotta get power back!), a light in the storm, & someone to scrape out all the ice the Ice types have been making to stop the flooding lol:

Hurricane Helpers (day 1)

Well, day 1-ish lol - my friend Professor Case & I opened up our Hurricane Helper Collab to raise relief funds for Hurricanes Helene & Milton for the US southeast coast last night, buuuuut I only got a few done from how late it was, & poor Case was hunkering down from the storm, only getting power / connection back around afternoon today (she’s otherwise safe & sound, no worries! 🩵)

As of this day 1 1/2, these are the Hurricane Helpers I’ve made so far as thank-you’s for donations:

I’d also like to add with my “casual hobbyist” understanding of meteorology on why violent storms like hurricanes are notoriously difficult to forecast, because YES, conditions are in constant flux.

If there’s a vast nimbostratus promising to pour down rain all day, that’s pretty easy to forecast. You can even observe it from the ground - if the skies go gray with the sun half visible through the clouds (altocumulus), it’s likely going to rain soon.

Meanwhile, if it’s a more vertical cumulonimbus brought on by surface heat that rages for a few hours before being spent, that’s harder to track. Hurricanes may be big, but they’re constantly rotating with the heat, then slows / weakens when it makes landfall.

The more you know, guys & yes, certain folks would like to privatize/dismantle NOAA, meaning natural disasters like hurricanes will be a lot harder for regular folk to prepare for, let alone follow. 🌧️

(PS: if you watch the video to the end & hear “AI” from their sponsor, this is the good kind that help us calculate things like weather forecasts more accurately, & not the bad kind that steals your data or your creative content 😅)

This is especially frustrating because the only reason we know the wind speed is because NOAA's Hurricane Hunters literally fly into the hurricane and collect vital data. They fly in and out of the storm over and over in 8 hour shifts.

This brave team flies two identical Lockheed P3s called Kermit and Miss Piggy.

You can see the dangling ornaments in the videos to determine which plane they are in.

And when I say they fly into the hurricane, I mean they fly *into* the hurricane.

Here they are in the eye of Milton.

And here they are in the eye of Irma.

As you may notice, this flight was in Kermit.

So the next time you see live data about a hurricane's wind speed and pressure, just remember how that was collected and don't be a giant turd about it.

And please vote because conservatives want to kill NOAA.

Trying to get a feel for the quick thank you drawings we’re gonna make when Professor Case & I got this all set up. We’re thinking 5 minute doodles, though this one took a liiiiiittle extra time…as it’s a little extra special! I reached 5K follows on Instagram, & here on Tumblr, I’m steadily on my way to 700, which is a LOT more than I ever really expected to get! Thank you so, so much! 878

DxP REWRITE - Coal Badge

Part 1 of the Gym Montage, starting off with Oreburgh City & those first few steps through Sinnoh! Emmet tested Ansy a lot during the first few badges, much like Barry does in BDSP & in DPPt, but with Double Battles, & something better than a slow-evolving Starly lol. Oreburgh is where he gets his fossil Pokémon: Ballast, the now Shieldon!

Meanwhile, Team Galactic being more of a classic, Pokemon theft team, quickly learns that Ansy still nurses a special grudge towards their type lol. (It was super effective!)

Made some more of these trainer encounters for my commission sheet I’m working on! I had the fun idea to offer “Single Battle” & “Double Battle” drawings either line-art or full-color, with 1-6 Pokémon per drawing (1-3 each for Doubles, just like in the game!)

For the “Single Battle” example, I drew more “me-Ansy” than “comic-Ansy” (lol) with the plush team you’ve been seeing in those slice of life posts I’d do (still waiting on the last 2 members, hopefully for Christmas!). Really looking forward to it getting cool enough for me to wear my cozy cloudy sweater more~ ☁️

For the “Double Battle” I drew Ansy & Ikrit as a “Kimono Couple”! Kimono / Furisode Girl is a trainer class who wear traditional Japanese clothes & use Eeveelutions, perfect for our Eevee family lol. Reminds me of the Sakura Matsuri (Cherry Blossom Festival)! 🌸 I need that kimono

I’m hoping to have the completed sheet done soon. Again, I won’t be able to do too many at a time (the Double Battle definitely ate up a lot of my time / energy lollllll), but yeah! Should be fun!

Sasha (Glaceon) isn’t trained like Rain is to notice / respond to Ansy’s moments where she disassociates or gets lost in a memory or feeling, but he’s picked up on it over the few years Ansy & Ikrit’s been together. I’d imagine he can be sensitive to her feelings like his trainer, too. ❄️

This feels like be a good time to say: I’m thinking of doing commissions again! I have no idea how I’m gonna price it, but I’ve been thinking of doing trainer encounter drawings like this! Fully-colored, or as a clean sketch like this:

Obviously a sketch would cost less, & I had the idea to charge depending on how many (& how complexly-designed) Pokemon there are: 6 at the max, 1 at the min, & I don’t think I feel great about charging the same for a Ditto as say, Arceus lol >7<;

I’ll only be able to take a few at a time (last thing I wanna do is fall behind on DxP REWRITE!) but yeah! Lemme know your thoughts, & if you’d like something like this from me! 🌧️

Hehe, just a little something I wanted to doodle following the last DxP comic. 🌸

A while back, while I was still figuring out how Ansy would’ve met these two, what kind of friendship they would have, etc., I had the thought that maybe Ansy actually did have a cute, innocent, little girl crush on Ingo back in BW. Mostly it’d just be moments like this (she probably ran off afterwards lol), or just sometimes shyly admiring from afar much like me at that age.

Ingo likely would’ve noticed, but chose not to act any differently, which turned out for the best - she grew out of it, & not only did they get to have the nice friendship they have as adults, he also got to be a good role model for the kind of person she eventually got to be with (Ikrit can also go on about stuff & is the more serious / sensible type, hehe ^_^).

I’m not sure how Emmet would respond - I had originally had the thought that he would tease Ingo about it, though I’m not sure he would tease her about that one. What do you guys think?

I have a question about the favorite Pokémon for each type board.

I was wondering if dual typing counts, for example scolipede would go in bug column because it’s first typing is bug. Second being poison.

This may be a stupid question but I was just confused on if it was only single type or not.

Hi! Dual-types absolutely count! Most of my favorites were dual types as it is, & for a lot of them, I couldn’t just choose one favorite lol. I say choose whatever Pokemon that has that type, whether it’s primary, secondary, or changes to that type (eg. Castform changing with the weather) maybe barring things like Arceus’ plates or Terastralization (though it would be funny to see just recolored Arceus XD)

I feel like I'm missing something. Wouldn't Ansy be Champion ranked since she went to Area Zero? You can't even access the area until you beat Geeta + Nemona

Hi! So, I’m guessing you’re referring to this panel from Chapter 1:

As she goes on to say, she is a champion-ranked trainer in several regions including Paldea, but as this is her / their first trip to Sinnoh, she’s never reached champion-rank there, going through their League, & defeating their crowned Champion (my canon is that there’s more than one Champion like in Paldea across the board, the “Champion” in game being a final test like Geeta was). Does that make sense?

Basically, Ansy is a champion in other regions, but not Sinnoh, & therefore wouldn’t have been permitted to go up to Spear Pillar.

DxP REWRITE - Frowns & Smiles

So…XD It occurred to me last night (when it was too late to redraw it) - from all the responses I got from the last one, maybe I shouldn’t have left it up to the imagination how our favorite twins “de-escalated” the situation lol. I was more focused on their first meeting with Ansy, starting off their friendships. 🌈

Whatever they did, I imagine it was done with the Utmost Professionalism & Grace 😇⛈️⚡️(We do see some just desserts soon though, promise).

I don’t understand how the Froslass was given to Ansy? The comic showed the pokemon delivered the letter but not joining her?

(I was saving this one to doodle a little something, but looks like I’m too busy 😅)

Yukina followed her down the mountain, & as they were sorting out their next steps, she handed Ansy her old Hisuian Poké Ball she kept in her kimono sleeve this whole time with the letter. 🌨️

Hi! Why wasn't the pokemon Ansy used in battle against the plasma grunt out helping her? Was it returned to the ball and then that was when the scene happened?

Returned to their ball - Ansy won the battle, but that grunt was a sore loser so he decided to go for Rain (who doesn’t hang out in a Poké Ball, usually sitting on Ansy’s head like in “Let’s Go! Eevee”). Took her by surprise.

DxP REWRITE - Dishonor Among Thieves

Back when I was figuring out the brothers’ early friendship with Ansy during her PKMN Black run, I had the thought that Rain (Eevee), a very rare, foreign Pokémon, would be a target for Team Plasma (until N tells them not to touch her again). From there, I figured a good first meeting was them teaching Team Plasma exactly what happens if they try to cause trouble in their subway.

There are a lot of people in our world who don’t see mental illness - or “mental injury” as I like to call (C-)PTSD - as a real health condition, let alone a disability. Some say ugly things to shame others they label as “entitled” or “weak”. Sometimes they’re raised that way, sometimes they’re confused or have some sort of inner resentment, or sometimes they’re just plain awful.

If you struggle with mental illness / injury, you’re not entitled or weak for needing extra help navigating life, whether it be a service animal, therapy, a trip to the hospital, or just a friend. It’s real, even if people around you can’t / won’t see it. 🩵

PS: my headcanon is that evil team Grunts have little themed codenames, too (knights for classic Team Plasma, maybe meteoroids / asteroids for Team Galactic, etc).

PKMN & a river park

I saw someone do this for their Flareon, so of course I HAD to make it for my Rain!! 878 🩵

This was at a riverside park in the springtime; there was a paved slope that lets you access the waterside, & a path along the river leading into a forest. Granted, it was a little overflowing due to the spring rains we got - I remember seeing a sitting spot just turn into an island as the water flooded the forest lol 🌳🌧️💧

I do like taking photos with my plushes, but I may make more of these in the future, too - it was fun ^_^
