I don’t know what it is about Yellow Flicker Beat but that intro feels like something both holy and lonesome. May be one of my favorite Lorde songs ever. I absolutely LOVE the direction her new music is taking, while still staying true to the music that she’s put out. The musical style is new ground for her, with just a simple piano background. The melody is so interesting and winding, and really helps to bring the listener on the rollercoaster of emotions of the lyrics. The lyrics of this song are beautifully heartbreaking,and she delivers them with such a beautiful tenderness. I’m excited to see what Melodrama sounds like.
