*under the cut*
“Dude, give me a quick ride to home please.”
“Get the hell out of my way!” Adjusting the helmet on his head, the annoyed face got hidden and the eyes visibly glaring at the opposite pleading boy.
“You never let anyone ride your bike but atleast you can have an exception for me as we are bestfriends for 8 years.”
The grinning boy blocking the way of the biker in every way possible and the accelerating sound was increasing in each turn of the grip. The biker’s gloved hand gripping the handle tightly with the anger building up in him for the annoying boy in front of him.
“Wooyoung, move aside. I told you to stay at home today but still you came here and now you get yourself something to get back home.”
“You are literally on your way back home which is apparently mine too but look at you abandoning a poor child like me on the streets in late night.”
“Stop with your cringey acts.”
“Yaaa please.”
Before the situation could make him lose his mind, he took a swift turn with his bike towards the left. He sped up which didn’t let the other boy a chance to prevent him from leaving.
The biker with some skilled techniques moved past the after-show crowd and the racing zone leaving behind a sulky boy. People who recognized him as the show champion had an admiring look on their face to which Wooyoung just rolled his eyes.
“I will see how long you will not let anyone to ride with you.”
With a growl of an engine, the bike swiftly zoomed out into the darkness of the highway.
————————
“Jaemin, please go away.”
“Not until you are accepting my offer.”
The said man had blocked your way with his two friends and the narrow alley with no other escape way was not helping your situation.
You gaze shifted to his two friends where one was leaning against his bike, eyes bored into his phone with bright light from the screen making him look like under a spotlight and the other one with a dirty smirk already staring at you. You shot him a glare and with the same expression, your attention turned towards the man in front of you.
“I don’t want to.”
“Why? We are best friends and we understand each other the most then why not? I love you Y/N.”
“Jaemin…Its so easy for you to say you love me and to say the same to others. We are no more friends and I don’t want to involve myself again in your life when you are just going to be an asshole like before.”
Jaemin’s jaw became tensed and he gripped the seat of his bike, nails digging into the leather before turning to his heels to go near to your form. You are feeling alarmed with his dark expression and thinking about all the worst possibilities of the current situation. His presence was only one foot away and his hands moved upward to grip your shoulders tightly to gain your attention on him. You didn’t let yourself to feel scared and entertain him so you returned him a daring look.
“I have left her for you and this time I will get you back no matter what.”
“No, you are not going to do anything stupid.”
He darkly chuckled and gripped your jaw. You were mentally wishing the ground to break apart and swallow him that instance so that you didn’t have to hear his nonsense anymore.
“Why are you not interested on me like other girls? If only I have showed a little bit of affection to any girl from your workplace, they would have been on their knees right now.”
The harshness in his tone was giving you an acute feeling that he was near to lose his mind.
“Then go to those girls. Why are you wasting your time on me?”
“I don’t want them but I want you.”
“Leave my way. Please go away from here. I don’t want to see you.”
You were wiggling in his hold and shouting at him and hoping anyone to hear you, atleast a stray dog should help you.
To your unfortune, not a single living being was there except some abandoned building and towering large trees. You were mentally scolding yourself to take that shortcut for home that late evening but you just wanted to get back home early as it’s not usual to get an early off from your work.
Now, who knew you would stumble on that stupid’s path who was chilling out with his friends after the illegal racing show.
“YA!!!!” A bike suddenly fell down and you could hear Heachan shouting at the person who caused the commotion while putting his phone back in the pocket which was his distraction all these times.
“What the fuck! Who are you and why did you hit his bike?”
You could hear Jeno’s angry voice but not able to see because of Jaemin’s muscular frame towering over you and blocking your way of vision. He was hawking at you for a pleasant reply from you.
“Jaemin, move aside and let me go.”
“No. Let them handle that. I will not let you go until you are accepting me.”
“She is telling you to go away then why are you being so persistent?”
OMG! The voice is so deep and attractive. Jaemin poked his tongue to the side and closed his eyes, clearly pissed off with this new guest. You tried to move away from him when his grip loosened on you but he quickly took a strong grip on your wrist and rolling his eyes, he turned around. You were standing beside him glaring on his hold and then boring your eyes to his side.
“Who are you?”
The centre of all attention was still on the bike and when you looked around, you could see Haechan’s bike lying on the floor, he was glaring towards this new biker and Jeno was looking between his friend and the new comer.
Mockingly, the new biker accelerated his engine and pointed his headlight towards Jaemin to which he shielded his eyes with his other hand. You wiggled under his hold but he held you tighter.
“Let her go.”
“Why will I listen to you? Who the fuck are you?”
The biker turned off the engine and parked the bike and dismounted from it. He took off his helmet and the leather gloved hand raised up to back brush his fluffy black long hairs. He casted a glance towards the other two near the fallen bike and then when he smirked towards them and returned his gaze towards both of you. His eyes travelled towards the grip on your wrist and with slow steps, he approached you.
AND GIRL! Being in such a terrible situation, you are fangirling over this new boy. His full outfit is in leathers and the well fitted attire was complimenting his body structure and you were sure that he had well built muscles under them. The moment he came near to you and then you could see how an angel looking being he is. His eyes were fixed on your hand and when you tried to pull it, he shot a glare towards Jaemin.
“Well, now you know me Jaemin.”
“You? What are you doing here? This is not your area and as far as I know, you had a competition today so just get the hell out of here.”
Letting out a chuckle, he looked around, “I cant see your name anywhere so as of public right I can be here right now.”
Turning towards both of you, he tilted his head with folded hands on his chest, waiting for the asked boy’s reply.
“Shut up. Just leave and let me solve her problem.”
“Her problem is you.”
“You don’t know anything.”
“Really?-”
“Please help me….”
Your pleading voice halted his argument with Jaemin and he casted you a glace, his eyes searching for emotions in your face and when a tear rolled down your eyes. His jaw clenched and he punched Jaemin to which he stumbled back and the grip on your wrist was gone.
“Hey!”
Both Jeno and Haechan ran towards their friend where the biker was maniacally laughing towards them. He signalled you to run behind him but when he saw your hesitation, he quickly pulled you towards him and hid you behind his frame. You were peeking to see how the other three were ready to jump on him.
“What the fuck dude? Are you out of your mind that you just punched him? You might have lost the competition and now you are showing off your frustration on us. You know you are already done when you hit Haechan’s bike.”
Jaemin wiped off his mouth when his other two friends ran beside him and shot the smirking boy a dangerous glare towards his way but he was just smiling in return.
“Jeno….” The way he called the name in a mocking way made you look towards his face as to examine him what he was upto and why he was helping you.
I guess he might be a true angel that he is helping you in that situation! Atleast now you can escape that asshole.
He added, “You know that I never lose anything. Whatever I set my eyes on, I get it no matter how difficult it would. I have my own ways. So, I want to help this girl here and it would be better if you just leave us here.”
“No way. Give her back to me.”
“Nah! She doesn’t want you and she asked me to help her and now I have to.”
“You-“
“Jaimin, stop. Let’s go. Taeyong is calling us back to the mansion right now. We can’t piss him off and even tell him what we were actually doing, he will ban you from coming here.”
Yeosang titled his head on hearing Jeno’s explanation to his bestfriend and he sent a tight fake smile to them. All three of them glared towards him but he didn’t even pay attention to their deathly glares but he was holding your two hands and softly smiling down to you.
You could hear Haechan’s voice in the background whining for his bike and the others made him quiet and they started their bike and Jaemin was trying to get your attention when he accelerated the engine. You casted a glance towards him and then when he spoke up.
“I will get back to you someday again.”
Your heart was pounding inside on hearing his words but with a squeeze on your hand, you felt assured that this boy might help you again.
Is that even possible?
The three of them moved past you and quickly left the scene.
“Thank you.”
“For what?”
“Of course for helping me. I don’t know how to escape him but thanks to you for approaching on time otherwise he could have taken me with himself.”
“Is he your boyfriend?”
“No.”
“Its okay. You needed help and to save a pretty girl like you is my duty.” He was staring to your hands which he was firmly holding in his palms.
“Excuse me. I need to leave now as it’s already getting so dark.”
“Do you have a ride to go to your home?”
“Umm….. no …. But I can manage by myself.”
Shaking his head, he started walking towards his bike and mounted it with a swift move. You were in awe with how his movements were like a professional racer. He might be also from illegal racing like Jaemin and his friends because they know each other.
“Please come here and let me take you to your place. I don’t want to leave a pretty one like you to wander around the streets alone at night.”
“Its okay. You don’t have to worry anymore.”
“I insist or I will feel guilty if anything happens to you today. Your day is already going bad on how you met him when you didn’t want to.”
You remained quiet while you looked around the empty and somewhat dark and lonely street to find any excuse but the way that boy was sweetly inviting you for a ride, you couldn’t help but to accept it as he was already so helpful and kind to lend a ride to a stranger.
“oh-okay.”
The ride to your home was quite comfortable as he was trying to not speed up too much to make you scared of the speed of a racing bike and also, he was picking up new interesting topics like about pets, your hobbies and all. Only you were the one who was mentioning about your parts but when you were asking his, the only reply you were given was ‘nothing’. But you got to know one thing that he loves chicken a lot and has a bestfriend with whom he lives.
You told him to drop you off at the turning of your colony but he asked for water so you hesitantly agreed to tell him the exact location as you were not comfortable sharing your address with this stranger. Arriving to your place, you quickly went inside and locked the door to bring a bottle of water along with you to go and meet him at your main gate.
“Here, you can take this.”
“Are you scared of me?”
“Huh? Oh no, its just I don’t know you so….like I cant invite you inside. I’m sorry to treat you like this after you helped me today but-“
“I know. A pretty girl like you should feel like this and you should always be cautious of your surroundings. Anyways, thanks for this Y/N.” he waved the bottle to you.
“ah its okay. This is nothing.” You both laughed lightly but then it hit you how did he know your name. “You know my name?”
“I heard him that time. Sorry if I made you uncomfortable.”
His face became a bit worried so you just gave him a smile for assurance that he did nothing wrong.
The street in front of your place is quite bright compared to where you both met so when he took off his helmet to drink the water, you noticed how he had a birthmark beside his left eye but still that was not enough to ruin his perfect angelic look with starry eyes.
“No no It’s fine. Just I don’t know your name.”
“Yeosang. Kang Yeosang. Remember my name, you will need to scream it in future.”
“Huh?”
“If you ever go to my shows then for cheering for me, you gotta need it.”
You chuckled on his explanation of the last sentence but quickly smiled hearing that the angel like human had a nice name.
“Thank you yeosang. I owe you for this ride.”
“Can I ask you for one thing?’
You didn’t expect him to reply so fast but you just nodded.
“Can we exchange numbers to become friends?”
“But Yeosang, I don’t know you.”
“You didn’t even know your colleagues before joining the office but you gradually know everything about them.”
“That’s different.”
“We will be same like them but our friendship will be different. Please.”
You hesitated for a moment before casting a glance to him and agreed on his request. You didn’t even know why you were entertaining all his requests but his presence and his attitude towards you was very promising.
You both did your goodbyes to each other and went away in your own way.
——————————————-
After that you never met jaemin or even if you came across any of his friend’s way then instead of them smirking at you or giving you dirty looks. They avoided your gaze and pretended as if they don’t know you or your presence was not there. Weird. Maybe they have given up on you and Jaemin would not continue his dirty games to get you or make you his friend again.
One day, You got a call from yeosang and invited you on his racing show but you had never been to such shows so you tried to decline his offer but he didn’t let his request to go in vain. He even sent you two tickets for the show to bring a friend along with you if you were feeling uncomfortable going alone. Wow! He is such a thoughtful person.
“Hello! Y/N. So are we going to meet today?”
“Yes, I will reach there on time.”
“I’m looking forward to our first meet.”
You both joked with each other over the call before ending it.
When you reached the show on the day, you could see Yeosang was leaning against a car and his focus was on the phone in his hand. When he looked up, his eyes sparkled to see you but the expression changed a bit on noticing the person beside you, who was your schoolfriend and you requested him to tag along with you as he was also interested in such shows.
The show went pretty much nice. You wished him best of his luck for the race to which he replied, “ I always win what I want.”
After his round, he was sitting beside you and putting up different topics and also explaining you about the show. He didn’t even bother to introduce himself to your friend.
When returning back home, Yeosang again offered you a ride so your friend had to go alone.
Many weeks had passed after the day of the show. You again went to many of his shows where you didn’t anymore need to tag along a friend and Yeosang was also does not like to see your other friends.
He often told you, “I want our friendship to be private. I don’t like when your other friends try to intervene our meets.”
Seeing his cute little pout everytime whenever he complained, so you agreed to go there alone. As you had already became so close friends so you kinda started to feel safe around him.
He started to ask everyday whether you need something or not. He often called you out for friendship dates. Whenever you gave him any excuses to let down his invitation. You would find him from your balcony down waving at you from the side of the street.
So, either two of you end up having movie night at your place or after having dinner to any fancy restaurant, he would take you to his place.
He never tried to cross his boundaries or do something which could offend you. You were quite enjoying his company every day. You never had any close friends like this but you had Jaemin as your bestfriend who suddenly became a dick after you both passed out high school and since then he is no more your old best friend.
You started to share everything with yeosang. He was always there waiting with a soft smile on his face to hear your ramblings.
You sometimes felt bizarre that he liked your miserable conditions when you were disappointed on others and show your weakness towards him. But you brushed off the feeling when you thought he was the only one who would listen to you without any judgements.
With passing days, you were becoming more reliable on yeosang. He always waited outside of your office to pick you and give you a long ride before dropping you at your home. He sometimes stayed at your place when you offered a delicious recipe for the dinner. He even started to come early mornings to take you to your workplace. He sometimes popped out of nowhere if you are hanging out with your friends or you are just wandering around the cities alone.
Sometimes you were feeling of being always watched and him always appearing in front of you started to make you a feel aware that he was always invading your privacy. And maybe that was what he wanted.
Maybe, he was waiting for a perfect chance to show his actual self to you, his actual motive to you. To get you for himself.
———————————
“Yeosang, where is this route going? This is neither to your apartment nor mine.”
He was humming a song and paused on hearing your question. Giving you five seconds of silence, he again started to hum that song which you had recommended him on the first day of your meet. He sped up and to the impact you clutched his leather jacket tightly.
You always loved riding his bike. The cool breeze hit your face and your hairs flow with the wind. The speed make your all worry fly away and you feel like an independent bird wandering around the sky on her own melody.
But this speed was not giving you the but anxiety.
“Please slow down. You are too fast.”
“You don’t know how fast I can be in some other ways.”
“What are you even saying? Slow down.”
You were closing your eyes tightly due to the impact of speed and your grip on his jacket was turning your knuckles white.
Today. Yeosang was a bit too energetic and was treating you too well. He offered you breakfast to your favourite place before reaching your workplace then he invited you to your favourite lunch place during break and after picking you up from the office, you both had your dinner at a luxury restaurant. When you both were returning home, he took a different route and then when you started feel anxious.
Suddenly, he stopped on his track and you bumped to his back. You quickly got down and eyes busy observing the surrounding. The place was quite dark and silent. In front of you was a white mansion and to your surroundings, you could see only bushes and dark voids.
“Yeosang where are we?”
“Home.”
He gripped your hand and pulled you towards the entrance. Your hesitance self and confused mind not getting the hold of the situation properly.
“Where are we going? What is this this place?”
“Hold on Y/N. You will get your answer.”
Reaching the door, he sent you an admiring smile to your way and his eyes sparkling with stars in it. The soft look on his face and his deep voice were just contrasting each other. Similarly, his sweet smile and his tight grip on your wrist contrasted in action.
When he pushed the door open, he quickly closed your eyes with his hands.
“Step forward Y/N. Welcome to my home.”
Your hands moved upward to place it on top of his and your heart beating furiously in the anticipation of danger.
“Yeosang….”
“Yes pretty?”
He let go of his hand and your eyes took a moment to get adjusted to the new environment and then when you noticed the whole living area of the mansion was decorated with your favorite flowers, your pictures and the aroma in the air was your favorite too. In the middle of the room, there was a hanging rolling poster with something written on it. Your slow steps took you close to it while eyes busy observing the surroundings and then you could read.
‘WILL YOU BE MINE Y/N?’
‘I LOVE YOU.’
Your eyes went wide and you turned on your heels to face him. In return, he was smiling at you with admiration and amusement in his eyes.
“What is this yeosang?”
“What? Don’t you like it?”
“Why?”
“I love you Y/N.”
“But I don’t.”
Yeosang’s admiring eyes turned dark and his soft smiling face froze into a serious look. You got scared on his sudden change. His black boots hitting the marble floor echoed around the big silent room decorated with only you.
‘Everything was your favorite. Everything had you in it. Everything was reflecting you. Everything was all about you. Everything was you.’
“Why?”
Now it was his turn asking you for a reply.
“Look this so pretty-“
“Just like you.”
“I liked it-”
“I like you.”
“But I don’t want this-“
“And I want you.”
“Yeosang….”
“Yes, my pretty Y/N?”
His eyes were lost in admiring you and flicking his gaze between your lips and eyes. His grip on your shoulder moved down to hold your hands and he brought them near his lips to give them soft kiss on the knuckles. You tried to retreat your hands but he gave you a dangerous look.
“Let me speak Yeosang. Don’t cut me off. Listen to me.”
“I’m always listening to you.”
“Why are you doing this? To get me? Please don’t get your hopes high like this but am really not interested on these stuffs.”
“Not interested?”
“I never thought about you like this. I always treated you like my close friend whom I considered as my new family. But this. I didn’t expect this from you.”
“I treated you more than that. I treated you as my only one.”
“Yeosang. Everything does not work like that. You have to know other’s feeling as well before confessing something like this. Give them time to know each other. It takes time to develop feelings for others. Maybe sometimes others can’t return you the same feelings in the end.”
“Y/N!”
His demeanor was unreadable when he frustratedly shuffled his thick black hairs. You could see tears pooling in his eyes. You never saw him crying but he did. You were always so vulnerable some days and then his comfort and sweet talk had made you voice out your weariness after having an overwhelming day. Your heart ached on seeing him like that.
“Yeosang…”
“Am I not the one for you? Y-you don’t love me back…. You don’t care about me…Why?”
“Yeosang. Calm down please. Take deep breaths.”
He was hiccupping and choking on his own tears. He was acting weirdly. You were scared with his appearance but still you were trying to ease him. Maybe he cant take rejections well. You would try your best to make him understand and comfort him in such situation.
“I love you Y/N.”
“Yes you love me. I appreciate that you love me but I cant accept your love. I love you too Yeosang but just as a friend. Please try to understand we have nothing in between us.”
You both were sitting on the sofa and your body turned towards him, one hand patting his back and other resting on top of his hand placed on his knee.
“If you really appreciate it then why cant you accept it?”
“I did not mean that.”
“Then what? Was it all lie? You liked everything I did for you. You said I am the only one in your life and No one compares to me. Then why? Where am I lacking behind?”
“I didn’t mean like that.”
He suddenly twisted to your side and cupped your face between his soft hands. Your tears were threating to fall down while seeing him so broken but you had to make him understand that what he was thinking was not appropriate. His teary eyes looking down at you and he gave you a sad smile. You mimicked his action. His thumb brushed your lower lip. Your hands moved upward to grip his wrist softly.
“Please love me Y/N. Please let me show you how much I love you.”
“You have done enough for me. Yeosang, I really loved every moment I had spent with you but this is something I cant accept. Please try to understand.”
“No no you are saying this because I haven’t done enough or you are thinking am not capable of.”
“No. I didn’t-“
“You think I’m only a bike racer and not capable enough for your desires but let me clear you. I’m one of the top 10 wealthiest businessman of this state. I can give you everything. You are special to me. You know one more thing?”
“…..What?”
You were shocked to know that he was a businessman. Its not like you were going to accept him on hearing he was hella rich but you just didn’t expect. Maybe you did a little when you were on your dates with him to various luxury places. But You always accepted him as a best friend in your life but never more than that.
“I even let you ride my bike. Not even once or twice but every time, we went somewhere I took you on a long ride and even today. I never let anyone to ride it as it is my precious last gift from my mother.”
“why me?”
“I knew that day when I saw you, jaemin harassing you on the streets. The way, pleads rolled out from your mouth. Your whimpers when you were wiggling yourself out of his hold and your teary eyes looking at me begging for help. I knew it that you were the one for me and I always need you to be like that to me and under me.”
“What are you saying Yeosang?”
“I am saying that please let me show you how much I love you.”
“No-“
Before you could speak any further, he smashed his lips against yours. His one hand moved from your jaw to back of your head and other holding your hands down. You are trying everything possible to get out of it but your fighting back was nothing against his muscular strong grip. His lips were crashing against you, there was a desperation in the kiss as if he had to prove anything. Well, he had to. He had to prove how much he loves you. But you don’t want it then why?
He bit your lower lip and you gasped when his tongue entered the new space and explored your mouth as if he would suck everything from your inside . His lips shining with mixture of yours and his saliva moved from the lips to jaw and was leaving trailing wet kisses down to your exposed neck due the thin strip a-line dress.
“Please….stop…”
He halted and retreat himself to look at you. Your smudge lipstick to the side of your lips ending on your cheeks. His thumb brushed over the lining of your closed eyes to wipe off the tears.
“Why are you crying?”
“Please…I don’t want this…”
“I don’t want this too. I want us to be happy but not crying like this. I want a family where it will be only you and me and maybe our future little one running around here.”
“No. It cant be possible.”
“Everything is possible if you let it happen.”
Your crying state was suddenly engulfed in a warm hug. You wanted to push him away but his hug had the same comfort like other times. He was soothing your back and kissing on your head. You clutched his jacket and was sobbing. Maybe this could melt his heart and then he would let you go.
“Its okay Y/N. We can do this together.”
“No! There is no you and me together in this world.”
“let me bring you some water and then you can relax and think properly. You are not on your right mind right now.”
“I am thinking everything properly. I’m in my right mind. The only one who is not trying to understand is you.”
Your words were ignored by him when he went into the kitchen to bring you water. You looked around to see your pictures and all the times you both had spent together.
Every smile on the pictures seemed like were mocking at your situation. If only you knew back then the times you were spending with that demon inside an angel, which you were thinking as the most memorable one would turn out as the nightmares of your life.
“here drink this.”
You were drinking the water while looking at some particular pictures.
You didn’t meet him those days.
You never wore that dress outside.
You didn’t go to that place with him.
Then how?
You chugged down the water and placed the glass on the table. With quick steps, you rushed to see every picture on that wall. How come these pictures are here?
“how do you got these pictures?”
“Aren’t you looking pretty? I get what I want.”
“I need to go.”
When you turned on your heels, you felt dizzy. Your vision was getting blurred. You realized someone took a hold of your weak frame and as if you were floating.
“take some rest. It was too much for you. We can continue later.”
“No.”
“Shhh….”
“I..want to…go…Yeosang..”
Your eyes closed and with your lips parted you seemed like you had so much to say, so much to explain but you couldn’t.
“If you go away. I will be lonely again. You will be lonely again.”
He kissed your lips and temple while holding you in bridal style.
“My life is all about you Y/N.”

“Why are you helping me?”
That was his third time asking you but, you were still busy finding a way to break the chains. Frustratingly, tugging the hairs behind your ears, you began to search around the destroyed arena. A metal rod hit against your ankle and you whimpered when it scratched deeply. You ignored the stinging pain and returned to pick up the rod. You took it in your hand and felt, it was too heavy but still it seemed more useful than any other object lying around you. Approaching him, he raised a brow at your figure holding a rod in your hand.
“Woah! Wait there. Why with a rod?”
You rolled your eyes, “of course to break the chains and please keep quiet.”
He chuckled but within a blink a glare was sent in your direction, “I know that, you don’t have to say something so obvious. I thought you have a key to the locks. Just tell me why are you here?”
“That’s nothing to worry about.”
You hit the joints of the heavy iron chains with the rod. The chains made clanking sounds with the metal against the floor. You didn't mind anyone hearing you but he was worriedly looking around the dark place to see if anyone had arrived at the location after hearing the loud sound.
“Are you crazy? They can hear us.”
“If you don't keep quiet then they will hear us before we could have run away.”
“And how are you so sure that we can run away from here?”
You gripped the metal rod tightly in your grasp and stared at him but didn’t reply anything.
No matter what you will save him.
The distant source of lights reflecting in his eyes, sparkling brightly. His front long bangs sticking to his forehead and rest disheveled, he was staring at you. Never dodging your gaze on him, he followed your eyes traveling to his black beaded gothic necklaces of various lengths around his neck with a black long V-neck vest with long white back and a black loose bottom pants. Everything was dirty after being locked up in the arena for almost a week. A smirk appeared on his face when he noticed your long stare at his body.
“Do you like the view? I guess you might have liked it more if we have more light. Right?” His tone was clearly indicating his smugness visible on his face. You didn't look at him and proceeded to hit the chains again. There was a crack sound from one of them and he stared between the broken piece and you. He could see a small smile on your face and he nodded to himself but quickly raised his brows when you stared at him.
“I did it.”
Well, he was happy that you could break it but still he didn’t show his true emotions and you quickly returned to break the other chain. You closed your eyes when you felt the burning of your skin in the ankle from the cut earlier. Your wrist was aching with the repeated activity but you were determined to do it, till the end. With a few more hits, finally you were able to break the other chain. There was a metal box beside you, placing yourself on it, the rod fell from your grasp and you took deep breaths.
Between your breaths, still you managed to call out his name, “Yeosang…run…run away.”
He was still trying to pry off the remaining chains which were snaked around his body. When he heard your voice, especially his name from your mouth. He quickly turned towards you. He noticed your exhausted form leaning in the distance. Throwing away the last chain, quick steps took him to you.
He crouched down and stared at you, “why are you telling me to run away. What about you?”
You shook your head before parting your eyelids to find him near you, so close to you. You couldn't believe it when you noticed the worriedness in his eyes. You both were sweating but you were more exhausted than him. The close up view made your vision more clear to notice his red birthmark beside his left eye.
Everything is still exactly the same.
You fought back the urge to caress his face, to pull him into a hug. You inhaled sharply before looking away, “Run before they can find you.”
“But they will catch you here.” he placed his hands on your knees. You bit your lip when you felt him against your skin, the white flared knee length dress was already torn and dirty in several places from earlier the day but at least you made it possible to set him free.
“I can manage on my own.”
“But I can’t manage to lose you…again.”
Your head shot up and your wide eyes stared at him, “again?”
Both of you heard banging of the metal door to your side in the far, your scared eyes glanced at the direction of the sound and quickly looked back at him, “they are here. Go Yeosang. You need to run.”
He retreated his palms from your knees, you curled your fingers at the loss of contact but still you strongly held your gaze on him. So, he would be going away, far away from you. You wiped your tears and looked down at your lap.
A hand suddenly extended in front of you, surprising you when you looked at the owner. No emotion was visible on his face but you could feel him getting impatient with every passing second. He should run away. Wasting a little time would make his chance of running away impossible. You stared at his hand.
“Come on. We are going together. Let’s go fast.”
You shook your head, “No No. This is not possible. I’m not going with you.”
He rolled his eyes before grabbing your wrist and pulled you on your feet. Your protests were only to be ignored by him when he started running to the other direction from the door.
“Yeosang. Leave my hand. I can’t go.”
“Keep quiet. They will catch us before we can run away.”
Your lips curled up at his response. He repeated your words from earlier. Both of you skipped over some old wooden and metal objects lying all around you. The place was dark, only the source of moonlight and tower lights were illuminating all around. The wide arena was lining by a lot of rooms and you didn't know anything about this place so you frantically looked around when you tripped on a broken wooden chair lying down.
“Be careful.” His voice was deep but the caring was felt softly.
You nodded your head and followed behind. Well, you don't have any more options. He was holding onto your wrist so tightly that you were a child who would run away here and there if he let it loose.
Ending up in the very end room, there were shattered pieces of glasses all around the room and it was too dark from the outside. You were hesitant to enter the room but he assured you to be fine and to trust him.
Trust him….
You trust him…more than he can even think of.
There was a window at the opposite wall but it was too high. The fences were all broken and there was nothing that you could climb onto to reach that high. He left your wrist when he started looking around the room. His wrist which still had the heavy metal holes hit against the metal objects and he cursed under his breath. There was an old wooden shelf but it was not enough to climb and it could not be trusted. Still, he pushed it towards the window and placed it just under the window pane.
“Climb up.”
“Me?”
“Just do it fast. They might find us here soon. Come on, do it.”
You again parted your lips to protest when he swept you off the floor by your waist and held you up so that you could easily rest your upper body on top of the shelf.
“Don't sit on that shelf longer. It might break anytime. Just jump on that window space.”
You did as he told you and held the rod beside the window. A sudden breeze hit you on the face, the view of the vast forest before you was a dark and dense area with trees. Are you really running away? With him?
You turned around to see him looking at the door.
“What happened?”
He signaled you to keep quiet. He held a finger to his lips and he moved closer to the door.
“Yeosang…”
“Jump.”
“No. I did so much to save you only for you to tell me to go away without you.”
He reached near the door and glared at you. Why? Peeking outside the room, he could hear some footsteps nearby and he quickly stepped near you. You were looking down at him with teary eyes. You can't leave him all alone.
“We don’t have time. Just jump off.”
“I won't jump without you. If they are catching you then I will be here with you. We will both face this together. Please.” You held your hand towards him, “grab it. Don't leave it again like the last time. We will fight this together.”
“Y/n….”
“Yes. I am here for you, Yeosang.”
With a final glance towards the door, he quickly ran towards the shelf, “it’s you.” he sadly smiled. You nodded and urged him to quickly get on the wood. His first attempt went in vain when his foot slipped and he got a scratch on the knee. He cursed to himself and tried again but the next following attempts were again not a success. But the last attempt was successful when you held his biceps and gripped tightly. But the shelf was losing its balance so he placed his foot beside you on the window space. He was breathing heavily but still you both smiled towards each other.
“You did it, Yeosang.”
“For you.”
You nodded and turned around, “we need to jump.”
You didn't notice but he was still staring at you when he suddenly pulled you in a hug. You missed this hug, you missed his warmth against you, you missed the feeling with him. You missed him.
Retreating himself from you, he intertwined his fingers with yours and held it tightly.
With deep breaths, you both glanced towards each other, “Are you ready?”
“Yes! Always with you.”
You both jumped off the window. You whimpered when you felt the pain in your ankle worsened with the jump and he groaned beside you while rubbing his elbow. “Wow, that was high.”
When he noticed your painful expression, he shifted towards you and held your face in his palms, “is it paining?”
“Yes. I don't think I can run anymore.”
He shook his head when he caressed your cheeks and his eyes wandered around your face when he noticed a few cuts and purple marks, the corner of your lips had dried blood similar to his. Both of your conditions were almost the same. He kissed your lips, catching you off guard.
“I will take you to our destination.”
You were still lost in the thought that he kissed you a few moments before. The feelings of his lips against yours was still lingering on you and you kept looking at him. “But where are we even going?”
“Captain is waiting for us.”
Your eyes went wide with the expectation, “you mean Hongjoong?”
He chuckled and held you in bridal style before standing up, “Yes. Our captain, Joong.”
“Do you think he will let me board his ship?”
Your question made him stop in his tracks. He stared down at you in his arms. You avoided locking eyes with him so you averted your gaze everywhere except on him.
“Look at me, y/n. Please.”
His plea ached your heart when you turned to look at his hard stare on you which quickly softens, “no matter what. He would never blame you. You were never the part of that life which I forced on you one day. You always belonged to this place but, It was me who held you hostage in the ship. So, it was all natural for you to run away.”
“But I didn't want to.” You said quietly.
He again resumed walking. Now, when his ears perked up with some shuffle sounds and shouts from a distance, he was no longer walking. He made a run towards the shore. He knew very well the direction to the secret way to the pirate ship. Wooyoung had taught him all the hidden ways to escape the place but somehow earlier today when he came to save him, he had to run away because one of the guards went inside to keep an eye on the hostage.
You continued when you looked at his frowning face glancing at you often to ask so many things but he couldn't as he was running with you, “I loved being with you. With all of you. You are my only family, Yeosang. I didn’t run away because I wanted to. I did it to save you.” you scoffed, “but still you got yourself caught.”
He remained quiet.
Soon, he reached the shore where the pirate ship was visible and few figures were leaning against the railing of the ship. He put you down on your feet near the plank and was breathing heavily.
“Are you okay?” you asked him softly.
He nodded, “you are heavy.”
You scoffed, “I hit the chains with that heavy iron rod earlier. To save you. I don't know why you let your ass get caught every time.”
“So that you can save me again.”
“Yeosang, it’s not funny.”
He held your shoulders to face him, he planted a kiss on your forehead and smiled, “Thank you. You saved me so many times. I owe you so much. I love you, y/n.”
“I have loved you since the day you called me as your family on the ship. I love you. I really love you, yeosang.”
He again kissed you and this time it was not a quick one. You kissed him back and pulled him towards you more. Tears falling down from both of your eyes. The longing feelings of both of the presence was all visible in the desperation of the kiss.
Someone cleared his throat beside both of you and you quickly pulled apart. Yeosang noticed the person to his side and rolled his eyes.
“Wooyoung.” he groaned when calling his mate’s name.
“Um…you both here? I mean that’s good…but how? Am I seeing things? Are you ghosts?” he placed his hands over his mouth and his eyes were wide.
“Shut up, wooyoung. I saved his ass earlier and now I’m back to my family.”
He squealed and ran towards you before engulfing you in a hug,” y/n…you are finally here.”
“Yes I am.” You said and patted his back.
Yeosang rolled his eyes, “well won’t you welcome me back? I am alive after you left me alone.”
You laughed at their interaction and bicker.
Wooyoung lead the way to climb up the ship and Yeosang pulled you closer to him, “we are back to our home.”
“Yes, we are. Together.”
When you both reached the deck of the ship, Hongjoong and Seonghwa turned towards both of you, “Yeosang?...and y/n.”
The said man proudly walked with you towards him and smiled, “my birdy saved me again.” He placed his hand around your shoulder.
“Really?” Captain asked in surprise but he was thankful.
“I don’t know if I’m allowed back here or not but I’m always by the side of Ateez. Also, I have collected a lot of information about the guardians.”
Seonghwa nodded and Hongjoong chuckled, “if you leave, Yeosang will follow you back. And, we are not mad with you, y/n. you are always welcome back to the ship.”
You looked towards Yeosang who was already staring at you, “Yeosang…”
“Let’s go inside…you are hurt. Let’s talk there while I patch you up.”
You nodded and let him guide you to the medic room.
Entering the familiar room after so many months brought back the memories of you both spending time together in there and you mentally thanked to stumble into the ship that day.
“Did you miss this place?” He was searching for all the things he needed and he cursed when he noticed Yunho had misplaced few things again.
You sat on the bed and nodded, “I missed this place……and you. This room is nothing without you. We have so many memories together here.”
“I never felt the same here after you left. I was again all alone with my own life and thoughts.”
He kneeled down in front of you to patch your leg and he noticed the amount of blood it was oozing out. He did all the step by step process to patch you and when it was done he was about to stand but you held him in place before crouching down in front of him and held his elbow, “ let me do it for you.”
“It’s okay, y/n. Don’t worry.”
“Yeosang, we promised that we will face everything together and that means we will take care of each other too. Now come on let me help you.”
There was a fondness in his eyes and you followed the steps he had once taught you.
When you both were done, you wrapped your arms around him and placed your head against his chest, “what happened, y/n?”
“I can’t believe you are here with me.” He smiled hearing your soft murmur against his bare chest. Your breath hitting against his warm skin and your ear picking up his heartbeat. You closed your eyes to feel the moment. Only with him.
He patted your back before stroking your head, “and this time neither of us is going anywhere. You know why I’m always back home and on my right track with you?”
“Because you can’t save yourself?” You smiled in the end of your question but quickly looked up. He cupped your face, “maybe I can’t but that’s not the point.”
“Then?”
“It’s because you are my little blue bird.”
The bird who always helps him to navigate back to his home. Like a ray of light of hope, you always showed him the hope to return to the family every time and brought the joy. And this time, his bird saved him again but also, he saved his bird from wandering around.

yeosang stood far from the venue, his back to a large stone. a mysterious creature, which he soon figures is a cat, approaches him and starts to sniff his shoes. he struggles, unfamiliar with dealing with animals.
the cat was white coated, with large patches of orange and black laid all over itself. a calico cat, but yeosang does not know that. he is not familiar with whatever sort of cat breeds there are or its names, nor does he care.
he tried to kick it away, but it does not leave.
"interesting..." he mutters.
yeosang notices that you have already arrived from the payment stall, though he does not react.
you are at the botanical garden with yeosang, required to take pictures for a school travel project of visiting significant places around town.
when you find a cat meandering around his feet, you giggle. "it must like you!!"
"perhaps it does." he looks down at the cat and stares at it.
previously, you insisted to pay for the entry fee, but yeosang blackmailed you to not do so, to use his card instead.
he sighs and then speaks to it. "leave me alone, mutt."
as he says so, his eyes subtly widen with agitation at the fact it does not want to leave.
"you should name it. spill some ideas," you smile as you look down to the cat.
yeosang looks up at you in confusion and disbelief, as if it was a foolish act to name a random animal from the woods.
"what?"
"why should i? it's not my pet, it's just a stray." he replies, dismissing your suggestion.
but he keeps his gaze on the little animal, which doesn't seem to leave him alone.
"hmm." he starts to speak to it. "stay if you wish... but do not expect any attention from me."
you chuckle at his decision to talk to the cat, becoming more and more amused. it is visible that you already grew fond of the stray cat.
"you should name it....." you hum, lost in thought for ideas, "oh!! i know!! you should name it princess fluffy-cupcake-sparkles!!"
"that name is completely ridiculous," he says, his expression becoming a form of disgust when he looks back down at the cat. "how does a creature like this deserve such a name? if i had a pet, which i never will, the name would make sense."
you look up from the cat to yeosang, your expression dissipating to a blank, empty stare of disappointment. you almost choose to abandon this whole project despite its relevance to your grading, solely to leave yeosang to do it all alone.
"next time i choose a partner to do this project with, it'll be with someone who has a sense of humour. maybe someone like wooyoung."
yeosang's gaze ever so slowly travels from your toes to your eyes, his face turning to indifference. he ignores the cat and its intentions, looking directly at you.
a moment of silence ensues as he attempts to figure out what to say.
"yes, go ahead and partner with wooyoung. i would like to see the result of your foolish decision."
you get surprised by the sudden tone. the answer is also astonishing, as you expected a response of apathy. "oh come on, it was even more of a foolish decision to partner with you," you reply.
"you chose to do this with me simply because you did not have friends. it was foolish on your part to believe things would be of joy for you," he says, maintaining his usual tone.
you tried not to take offence.
he looks down at the cat and finally, with a heavy sigh, he decides to entertain the idea of naming it.
"fine, i will name it. but not with that stupid name."
you're taken back. you're surprised by how easily he is induced, knowing how dense of an individual he is. he seemed to be affected by the mere mention of your choice of a partner being wooyoung, to the major extent that he had to agree to do such a thing.
"if i didn't know you better, i would say you're jealous of him," you say.
he stays silent for a moment, glaring back up at you again. "jealousy is not something i am used to feeling," he pauses, his voice vastly unwelcoming."i did not agree to talk or joke about wooyoung."
a moment of silence ensues between the two of you. the cat continues sniffing around and starts to walk towards him again. it circles around his feet, rubbing itself to his leather boots.
"princess fluffy-cupcake-sprinkles already claims you as his owner," you smile.
"do not associate me with the cat." yeosang says, and you can sense that his patience with your jokes are starting to dwindle. the cat steps a short distance away from him after a few moments and simply stares at him from afar, growing bored of him.
you chuckle at the reaction of yeosang. "i dont know why you dislike such adorable creatures."
he shakes his head and groans.
"its a mere animal. why am i expected to pay any attention to it?" he sighs.
he attempts find relish in the cat for you're very sake, but he knows very well that the cat is annoying him more and more by its mere presence alone.
with one last glance, the cat finally leaves and moves on elsewhere.
he relaxes a bit, but his expression remains unchanged. he clears his throat. "now that that's taken care of, let's go."
"wait," you say. yeosang turns right after he starts walking to the venue, watching you carefully sneak over towards the cat again. he is in major disappointment to your stupid, futile decisions.
you manage to pick up the cat, and it does not run. "yeosang!!" you hold up the obedient feline and smile widely.
he instantly softens.
"well, what do you intend with that thing?" he asks.
"take the pictures with it!!" you reply. you carry the cat over your shoulder, and you run over to yeosang.
"do you think the garden allows it?" he says with a genuine intent of reminding you that you are stepping into a neat garden of flowers.
"how could they refuse it? look!" you hold up the damn cat, smiling illuminantly. "princess fluffy-cupcake-sparkles!!"
he refuses to admit what you're smile does to him.
"princess.." he struggles, ashamed of the lengths he goes for you. "princess fluffy-cupcake-sparkles."

i need this irl so bad-
a relationship with yeosang would be so precious like i literally cant stop thinking about it
not even anything specific. just him, sending you pictures when he’s bored, just because he finds it funny when you fawn over him via text. he insists that you send one back just so he can give you the same treatment.
and him manhandling you in the gentlest of ways. dragging you onto his lap during movie night and positioning you so that you can both be comfy, just because he’s cold and he needs your body warmth to heath him up. you’re like his own personal heater and you love it.
dancing with you in the kitchen as the moonlight shines through the window. it’s the early hours of the morning, and you both really should be in bed but you can’t help but be captivated by the way the silver light glimmers in his eyes. you’re too captivated by his beauty to sleep. you don’t want to close your eyes for even a second.
lying in bed together on a summers afternoon, the hazy rays of sun shining through the window and heating your bodies up as you allow your limbs to tangle with his. it’s too hot to cuddle, but you can’t seem to let him go. your sweaty forms just hold one another tightly as you dip in and out of sleep.
buying silly gifts for one another, just because they remind you of the other person. he buys you a scraggly rat teddy, and you buy him the wonkiest, most wrong looking dog teddy you can find. it’s not really a compliment to either of you, but the rat takes pride of place in your bed either way. he cuddles the dog whenever you’re not there, but he’s never tell you that.
domestic evenings where you share the bath. you wash his hair first, and whilst the conditioner is sitting, he washes yours. his fingers are gentle and precise as they massage your scalp. on more than one occasion you’ve fallen asleep against his bare chest mid shampoo…
nightmare filled nights that yeosang sleeps through, yet still manages to provide you comfort with his arms that are wrapped to tightly, so safely around your waist. he hums in his sleep as you huddle closer, silently begging for him to shield you from the demons that plague your sleep. his heartbeat calms you down and sends you into a silent, dreamless sleep.
in other words i’m soppy and lonely so i’m thinking about sangie WAYYY too in depth

Stumbling into the shared apartment with Yeosang, you swiftly covered your mouth to suppress any whimpers upon seeing your boyfriend peacefully napping on the living room couch.
After carefully placing your heels by the shoe rack, you quietly tip-toed past his slumbering figure and slipped into your shared bedroom, closing the door behind you with utmost care to ensure he wasn't disturbed from his much-needed rest.
It was only upon reaching the sanctuary of your room that you collapsed onto the bed, tears streaming down your face as you cradled your injured arm close. It had been a horrible day, marked by a minor accident at work amidst ongoing tensions with your boss and difficult encounters with customers. Throughout the day, you struggled to keep yourself together, merely waiting for this moment to release all pent-up emotions.
As you sobbed into your pillows, the door to the room creaked open, causing you to panic. Swiftly wiping away your tears, you sat up, trying to compose yourself.
"Darling, you're back already? Why didn't you come say hi to me first, hm? I've been waiting," Yeosang's voice greeted you as he entered the cosy space, "You know you could've just woken me up..."
His words trailed off as he noticed your bandaged arm and tear-stained cheeks, "I-I'm sorry, Yeo, it's just—" You couldn't stop the sobs escaping your lips at the sight of his concerned expression, cursing yourself internally for being such a crybaby.
Hearing your anguished cries, his heart clenched, and he swiftly moved to join you on the bed. He pulled you close, showering your head with tender kisses, "Hey, hey, it's okay. What happened to your arm? Are you alright? Please, talk to me, darling."
Your sobs only grew stronger in response to his care. Nestling your head against his neck, you stuttered out, "One of my c-colleagues didn't see me approaching and accidentally s-swung her envelope opener toward me. I tried to shield myself with my arm, and that's how..." You gestured to your injured arm, feeling miserable.
"I'm so sorry, darling. Why didn't you tell me? I could have picked you up from work if I had known you were hurt. And don't try to hide it from me; I know that can't be the only reason you're upset." He whispered, his lips gently pressing against your temple as he offered a comforting squeeze, careful not to worsen the pain in your arm.
The following words that left your lips broke his heart, "I d-didn't want to burden you with something so trivial, Yeo. You're already s-so busy; my work troubles must seem insignificant compared to yours."
Drawing back a bit, he cupped your face, meeting your tear-filled gaze, "What did I tell you about thinking like that? Your problems, no matter how minor you think they are, bother me if they bother you. I never want you to keep things from me again, understand? Promise me you'll always come to me first, no matter what."
He couldn't help but chuckle when your only response to that was an adorable wail, finding your vulnerability endearing as you nuzzled your face against his shoulder once more, "Y-you're the best boyfriend ever, Yeo. I l-love you so much."
Placing a gentle kiss against your hair, he grinned softly, "I love you too, darling. More than you can imagine. Now, I want you to tell me every single thing that happened at your workplace today. I'm not usually one for aggression, but I won't hesitate to deal with anyone who dared make you cry."
With a light giggle, you pulled away slightly, "Oh, you wouldn't, you little Maltese."
You squealed as he playfully tackled you onto the bed, glad to see you lightening up and teasing again as he leaned in for a firm kiss.
"A Maltese, huh? I'll show you a Doberman."

This was super self-indulgent. I had a horrible day and ended up getting hurt in a rather similar fashion yesterday. Also wanted to show Yeosang some love after all the hate he's received for his role in my current Seonghwa series HAHA
Speaking of which, part 14 of The Way to His Heart should be out by this weekend! Hang in there, my lovelies! As always, thanks for reading and lmk your thoughts! <3

You yawn and blink blearily hoping that sleep stays with you a bit longer, but to no avail. You stretch out in the silky sheets, sighing and rubbing the crust out of your eyes. behind you a soft murmur causes you to freeze, hoping that your slight movements didn’t wake your light sleeper of a boyfriend. You feel his grip get tighter as he pulls you closer and nuzzles his head further into your neck, breathing you in and lulling him back to sleep.
Yeosang had arrived home late last night, worn out and tired from all the tour prep the boys have been doing recently. you try to be as quiet as you can as you shift around to face him, hoping to admire him for a few minutes before you get up and start your day. Your hand slowly reaches up to tuck his green and black striped hair, his watermelon hair you so lovingly called it last night, behind his ear as your hand grazes his birthmark. You trace the shape with light touches, up curve down up curve down, the shape of a heart your favorite shape placed on your favorite person.
Since you guys have been together, you’ve always told him just how much you loved his birthmark and would always admire it every chance you got. You don’t have enough fingers to count how many times yeosang has caught you staring at him, truly taking in how gorgeous he is. You hear his breath catch as his eyes start to flutter open, then squinting from the sudden assault of the sunlight. “Hi angel” his deep voice breathes out as he grabs your hand and kisses your fingertips. You smile softly as you trace over his lips, still slightly chapped from his sleep “mm i don’t know about me being the angel but ill take it”. He stares into your eyes with a dopey smile on his face, studying you, taking you in like it’s the first time all over again. The air in the room could only be described as cozy, in every sense of the word. Your hand held to his chest while you lightly tap a calming pattern across his shirt covered skin.
You place your palm flat against his chest and lean up to place a loving kiss on his lips, his hand reaching down to grab your waist and pull you closer. You share sleepy kisses, the sounds of birds and cars driving by filling the silence unoccupied by the sound of your lips meeting. His hand trails up and caresses your long curls that are hidden under your bonnet, he grabs the back of your neck to deepen the kiss, tongue parting your lips. You breathe out a sigh as you smile, opened mouth into the kiss and throw your leg over his waist “nuh uh mister, you had some last night. At least let me make breakfast before you tire me out…again” you say as you sit up in his lap and place both palms flat on his chest. He grabs both sides of your waist and grinds you down on him, feeling just how eager he is this morning
Your hands fist his shirt as your hips move in circles, you throw your head back at the friction against your clit. You can hear his breathing picking up and feel his heart beating strongly under your hand, his hips, shifting under you to chase some form of relief for his aching cock. “Come on baby, just 10 mins that’s all i need” he pleads as he feels his boxers begin to stick to his leaking tip, overflowing with his desire to fill you up once again. “Yea that's what you said last night, then you had me bent over the couch and in the bathroom and on the balc-” you feel him twitch under you and you stop to stare at him incredulously “you’re so unserious” you deadpan as you slide off of him and stand up. You walk towards the door and hear him groan “yeah yeah yeah. You get yourself under control hornball and i’ll make breakfast”
You walk into the kitchen pulling the eggs, bacon, and potatoes from their resting places, planning to prepare them all after you wash your hands. You grab the speaker you guys keep in your kitchen and set it up to connect to your phone, turning on some slow R&B music. You lay the strips of bacon down in the pan and begin cracking eggs into a bowl, mixing them with salt, pepper, and onion powder to give them some flavor. As you start to cut the potatoes, you feel hands grab at your hips and trailing to your front to caress your stomach and eventually wrap around you. Yeosang lays his head in your neck and inhales your scent of raspberry and vanilla, a fragrance he can’t seem to get enough of.
He slowly peppers kisses onto the junction in between your neck and your shoulder, a weak spot yeosang has learned gets him his way over the years. You lay down the knife and lay your hands over yeosangs as he begins to sway you guys side to side to the beat of the song. You can feel the vibrations of him humming along to the song against your back “what do you know about Mary J Blige” you ask as you turn to the side to make eye contact with him. He giggles and brings his head out of your neck, stands up straight and begins to sing the song word for word as if he practiced just for this moment. You burst out into giggles as the song comes to an end, a proud smile on his face as he goes back to hiding in your neck.
“Now i don’t know who taught you all that, but that was good, 10/10” you say as you maneuver towards the bacon flipping it. “I did a bit of practicing while i was on tour last time, i just didnt know when it would come in handy” he beams as he detaches himself from you and continues to cut the potatoes. You guys work in a quiet rhythm side by side, both humming along to the soft music playing through the speaker as the food cooks. You let yeosang cook the final dish, the pan hot and ready for him to pour the eggs and scramble them. As he cooks you hop onto the counter and let your legs dangle, biting your lip. Your eyes trail down from his side profile to his strong arms and small waist, arms that held you down while your legs were wrapped around his waist as he pounded into you last night.
You can still hear his labored breaths during each thrust, filled with desperation as if it was the last time you two would be together. You can still feel his grasp around your wrists as he bent you over the bathroom counter, the dig of the cold porcelain into your waist as he made you cum over and over again. The night ended with multiple orgasms across almost every surface in your apartment, and the bruises left behind reminded you of the passionate love you made.
“Is something on your mind, pretty girl?” you’re brought back from your memories at the feeling of yeosang tugging on your lip and stepping in between your legs, his hands coming to rest on your upper thighs. “You” you boldly state as you run your hands through his hair and rest your hands on the nape of his neck. The air between you two is palpable, so thick that not even a sword could cut through it.
You both stare into each others eyes and down at each others lips. suddenly, its like a spark is lit between you two now you’re nothing but a mess of teeth and tongue battling against one another. Teeth clack together as you both laugh into your sloppy kisses, as he picks you up you begin to rid yourselves of your clothing until all that’s left is your underwear. he reaches behind you to unclasp your bra and pull it off of you, but the teeth get caught in your hair and you let out a yelp. “Owww babe its caught in my hair, hold on” you rush out as you feel him tug again. “oh sorry sorry, wait shit stop moving” he says as he sets you down onto the floor and spins you around to untangle it from your hair. You giggle as you see the bra fly over your head and onto the counter, as he begins to pepper kisses across the back of your neck and trails down towards your shoulder.
You feel him start to walk you forwards towards the counter and bends you over, “bend over for me baby” he says as he begins trailing kisses down your back making sure to kiss every scar and mark. You feel him grab your hips and start kissing your stretch marks, line by line admiring each one with his plush and pillowy lips. “Sang” you whine as you start getting impatient, needing him to touch you in some way or you’ll explode. “you're whiny for someone who was trying to stop me 20 minutes ago” he teases as he kneels, hands moving to pull off your underwear and spread you open. He sees you pulse around nothing, dripping with arousal, with a pause he stops to admire your glistening folds. “Yeo please, i need you” you plead into the countertop hoping he stops teasing you and finally puts his mouth on you.
After what feels like an eternity, he finally licks a stripe through your glistening folds, humming at the taste of your arousal on his tongue. He dives into you, tongue curling to lap at your clit moving in slow languid movements. “Fuck,” you cry out as you try to grasp onto the counter, your fingers slipping and sliding on the smooth surface “so good sangie need you” you reach back and grab at his hair trying bring his face closer to your core. He grabs your hand and threads it into his hair, nails scratching at his scalp causing him to moan out against your pussy “mhmm yea grip on my hair pretty girl” he growls as he pulls back and spits onto your core and dives back in.
You writhe and whine out as he laps at you bringing you closer and closer to the edge “fuck im cumming, don’t stop please please” you plead as you reach both hands back to grab his. Without a moment to process, yeosang snatches both of your wrists into his strong grasp and pins them to your lower back. He stands up, leaving your core lonely as he reaches down to finally rid himself of his underwear letting his cock spring free. He runs the head of his dick through your folds collecting your arousal, and starting to push in but is met with some resistance.
“Youre still so tight for me pretty, thought i stretched you out last night”, he murmured as he spat into his hand and stroked himself and thrusted in. You let out a moan so loud you just hope that your neighbors have already left their apartment to start their day, and aren’t forced to listen to the sounds that he punches out of you. He grunts as he sets a slow but powerful rhythm, a pace that satiates both of your needs for quick release. “Fuck always so pretty and tight for me” he says as his lifts you by the base of your neck so your back is flush to his chest. You throw your head back and hold your breath as the new angle whisks away all thoughts and motor skills from you, something only sex with yeosang could enable. Without a falter in pace, he drops your wrists and wraps a slender hand around your throat pushing you further and further over the edge.
Its almost like a sixth sense to him, when you’re teetering on the cusp of an orgasm, so close to release that he can practically hear the praises of how good he is on the tip of your tongue. “Yea you gonna cum pretty girl” he asks as he tightens his grip on your throat effectively stopping the last bit of air to your foggy brain. “Yes yes yes” you chant as your legs begin to shake “im cumming, please please please don’t stop its so good” you grasp onto his wrist, searching for anything that’ll ground you as you float away into orgasmic bliss. His hand releases your throat as you come down, slumping over the counter panting out as air finally fills your lungs.
“5 mins please” you wheeze out as you spin around and collapse onto the floor. He chuckles as he brings his hand down to stroke himself, as you peer up at him with tired eyes. He looks down at you with half sultry half pleading eyes, and you of course give in and take him into your hand. You take him into your mouth, tasting his salty precum mixed with your arousal that coats him. He places his hand onto the back of your head as you move at a pace that has his toes curling and has him throwing his head back, sighing out in relief. “Yea just like that baby” he sighs out as his hand moves to grasp under your chin, lifting your head to make eye contact with him. He begins to breath heavy, chest heaving up and down as his climax approaches the sight and feeling of you sucking him off has him finishing in the blink of an eye.
With one last sigh and a quiet heave, he finishes in your mouth and you hold him there until he’s drained of every last drop. You take him out of your mouth with a pop and place a kiss on the head of his dick and he twitches, “ i love you” you whisper as you look up at him with sparkles in your eyes as if he hung all the stars. “I love you more” he looks down at you the same way as he strokes your head and pulls you up and into a kiss. “Now im gonna go take a shower” you say and move to walk away, with him right behind you, “by MYSELF” you giggle out as you push him away and he pouts. With one final kiss on his pouted lips, you turn to walk away and he takes the chance to land a swift hit to your butt as a parting gift.

Dating App: Kang Yeosang x Reader

Summary: When you accidentally meet your Dating app match at a book store.
A/n: Hehe, got this idea from a random prompt.
WC: 1.5k
----------------------------------------------------
Dating wasn't really your cup of tea after the many bad experiences you've had. So you decided to join a dating app. You felt like Swiper with all the swiping you did on a daily basis, but finding someone well was difficult. The app was filled with creeps. Not until you came across this man who seemed actually so beautiful, you were doubtful but you swiped right.
Strangely this was the first person who didn't send sexual innuendos or invitations. The conversation was also quite interesting. MidnightKYS, you actually found him very interesting and he seemed to be interested in you as well. It's been a week since you've been talking to him, about everything and anything.
It was a friday and you visited the bookstore after work. It was the date of the hardcopy publishing of your favourite manhwa and you preferred to have a book than read from an app. You picked up a book of the latest copy of the Dark Moon and were scheming to find if there are any other books you'd like to pick. You reached out for the copy of Star Seeker only to find another hand to do the same. You quickly pulled away to let the other person take it when you were stunned to see one of the most beautiful creatures on earth, he seemed familiar thought and he was equally surprised to see yours.
"Midnight kiss?" You whispered
"Starlight!" He said "Hi"
"Hey! I didn't know you lived around, here?" You said.
"No my office is close by" he said "Besides it's not kiss, it's K. Y. S.. It's Kang Yeosang by the way" he reached out a hand
"Y/n L/n" you said gladly taking his.
"Do you wanna may be get something to eat? I've been meaning to ask you out so.. um " he got shy
"Yes, I'd love too" you said.
The two of you started to have another endless conversation about random things of your day and just like the chat, your topics never ran out. Sometime while walking he had brushed his hand with yours, once, twice. And the third time he grabbed it and looked at you side eyes, you were talking and you kept on doing so, trying to show it didn't bother you, when in reality it made you feel mushy. Damn you felt like 13 all over again!
He took you to a cafe nearby and the two of you got to know each other more. You realised that no matter how cheeky Yeosang is in actuality a shy person, however he's not even a bit awkward. The two of you shared different stories and you felt really comfortable with him, he offered to walk you home after exchanging numbers.
----------------------------------------------------
Soon enough, meeting after work 2 to 3 times a week for a meal or a coffee became a thing for Yeosang and you. If he got off early he would even go to your office to pick you from your office. So, on one such day you were walking out of your office, you were walking out of the building talking and laughing with your college Yunho. Yeosang was waiting beside a nearby lamp post, he wanted to surprise you, his eyes were glued to the exit and then on you as soon as you left it. You finally said bye when he playfully grabbed your wrist and pulled you to say something in your ear he watched as you got shy and smacked the tall guy then waved good bye and walked towards him. He felt something deep within him, a burning, jealousy.
"Is something up Yeo?" You finally asked when you noticed him lost in his thoughts for the 4tg time that evening.
"No I. Okay." He suddenly kept his spoon and looked deep into your eyes and said "I'm jealous"
"What?" You asked.
"I really like you Y/n. I think I might even love you. I already liked you when we were talking but when I saw you, yeah it was on sight" he said, shocking you and apparently himself too. "Oh, I should not have said that, Y/n, I-"
"Calm down Yeosang. You know I like you too right?" You said.
His eyes went wide at your counter confession, he smiled and reached out to hold your hand.
The walk back to your apartment was mostly quiet but it was a comfortable silence, the two of you basking in each other's presence. When you reach near your apartment, where the two of you generally depart and you said a small bye and made your way inside. Yeosang quickly grabbed your wrist and pulled you towards him, capturing you between his strong arms.
You felt your breath leave your body, as you looked into those beautiful eyes. And he did into yours, you noticed his face inching closer and his eyes traveling down to your lips, you couldn't help do the same, he had pretty lips. And before you knew his lips were on yours. It was a soft and tender kiss.
"Be mine?" he asked
You smiled and pulled him into another kiss a longer and deeper one at that.

He turned to his side, just to feel the empty spot next to him.
Right, he had forgotten. He had gone to sleep early the previous night while you had been working on your laptop to finish some due assignments.
“Is Y/n not here yet?” He thought to himself, slowly reaching out for his phone which was sitting in the bedside table next to him. His first initial thought was that he had gone off to sleep and had woken up not long after.
4:21 am.
He stared at his phone and lightly chuckled.
Of course you had overworked yourself again.
Slowly getting up, Yeosang walked over to the door and opened it. Walking past the empty rooms and down the staircase into your office.
He opened the door upon seeing the lights being turned on inside of the room. Although it took him a moment to adjust to the light, he quickly cleared his vision and looked over at the chair in which you had been sitting in. You were asleep, in a quite uncomfortable position which he was sure would make you complain about neck pain by the morning.
“Y/n, get up, let's go to bed.” Yeosang whispered, his hand slightly hovering over your shoulders.
No answer, he smiled before grabbing the rolling chair and pulling it back ever so slightly. Enough so he could skip his hands to your back and pick you up and bring you away from the desk.
You woke up to the familiar feeling of your boyfriend's arms, looking to see him walking up the stairs with you in his comfort. Smiling, because he had once again caught you red handed, working longer than you were supposed to. It made you feel guilty for being a possible burden to your boyfriend Yeosang.
“Yeo, you could've just gone back to sleep.” You muttered, voice croaky and tired from the almost impossible task to stay awake.
“I'd rather you wake up with limited neck pain rather than harsh neck pain for sleeping like that.”
“Well-”
“If I were Wooyoung I would've said, ‘Your problem, your consequences.’”
You chuckled ever so slightly, truthfully you wanted to burst out laughing but the sleepiness prohibited you from doing so.
“You can't say something about Wooyoung whenever I don't have the opportunity to laugh about it.”
Yeosang chuckled, “You're right, that'd be miserable.”
You closed your eyes again and put your head against your boyfriend's chest, how much you missed these moments. Almost giving you nostalgia of when you were still a child.
After what felt like an eternity, you felt your back push up against the soft cushion of your shared bed as Yeosang placed you down with care. Feeling the bed beside you sink down at the feeling of Yeosang himself getting on and laying down.
The warmth of his arms huddled over you as he planted small kisses on your neck, making you feel loved and supported.
“Don't work so late into the night. It concerns me.”
“Sorry, the assignments are due next week and I got anxious. I'll try not to do it again.” You muttered.
You felt his head nod behind you, making you feel more reassured of yourself. He muttered in a low pitched voice, “You're a fast writer and worker, you can finish it in under a week.”
He was falling asleep, making you smile as his head sank down onto the mattress. He deserved it, he deserved some good night rest. The more you thought about it the more you realized how selfish it was to always stay up late working. It disturbed his as well as your sleep.
Yeosang, what a sweet boyfriend.
Closing your eyes as you started to drift into a deep state of sleep. Hearing a voice call which left you unsure whether it was in the real world or the dream world.
“You owe me fried chicken in the morning.”

synopsis: you encounter archer yeosang not in the sports competition you had just sneaked out from, but in the forest where he saves you on your way to meet your 'boyfriend'- you're not sure what to call him. yeosang doesn't recognise you as the princess of this nation, however, you encounter him again as your replacement tutor and you become friends with him, sharing problems you face and sneaking out with him because you crave adventure. you find yourself falling for him because he makes you feel like no one else, and he finds himself falling for you but he thinks he's not worthy of you- even when you tell him again and again how brilliant he is. will he end up staying?

The air was filled with the cheers of the athletes, of the women wooing over the young participants, of the men howling in glee because they had waited the whole year for this day. The day where everyone- from the most royal to the peasants- gathered under the same sky, bathing under the same sun. The day where everyone had an equal chance of winning- if they were blessed with the right skills. The Athletics Championships- the annual sports event where people of every status, regardless of gender, participated.
There was no shame in admitting that everyone from the oldest to the youngest throughout Eden waited eagerly for this day. The athletes practised all days of the year, stayed fit so they could show off. After all, a position in the palace and a cash reward wasn’t the only prize they won that day. Even the most lacking of the athletes could win someone’s heart that day. Since there was still a majority of men participating in the competitions, the women still new to being allowed to participate, the women were usually watching the athletes with eagle eyes- not for their skill alone. And the men never failed to show off- most of them anyway.
You would have been one of those women too, but there were a number of things hindering that. Firstly, you were the Princess of Eden, seated right at the stage they’d had built for the royal family for the best view. That also meant the people could get the best view of you too, and you had to be cautious of where you let your eyes stray, of your reactions, which is why you opted to remain unfazed throughout the games, only clapping for the victors.
Secondly, you had a really, really bad headache from the way the Queen, your stepmother, had chewed off your brains so early in the morning. His son, your stepbrother and the Prince of Eden, seated on your left was the only reason you could mildly enjoy the event. His mother might be an ambitious, greedy witch who wanted her son crowned the heir instead of you, but his son was very much the opposite, having little to no interest in the position himself, only doing it for his mother (at least, that’s what he insisted) and opting to fool around. The Queen scoffed loudly when his son passed you a bowl of candies and you took two, hiding it in your sleeve. She passed a glare to the Prince who only pretended not to know what it was about, making you smile a little at his childish antics. He was still a kid at heart.
Last, but not least, you couldn’t wait to get out. Yes, the competition was mildly interesting (mildly only because this time’s female competitors were giving the men a hard time and you enjoyed that and hoped you’d see more of them next year) and you were comfortable, but you had a little… date with your… boyfriend?
You didn’t know what to call him. Yes, he was attractive, not bad to look at. He was a noble, and it made it easier for conversation to flow between you. He had a nice sense of humour (or maybe your scale of judgement had a very low base to start with). You two were friends, but at the same time, not really. And you two were dating, but not really. Currently, you were still figuring out why you were risking so much meeting a man in secret- the one you weren’t even sure about- yet. You hoped to be sure, though, soon. You just had to meet him a few more times, stop testing the waters and take a little dive, and see if he was someone you really liked.
You chewed loudly on the candy, earning some groans from the Queen. You glanced at her right where your father, the King, was sitting almost at the edge of the seat, looking as if he wanted to join the spectators instead since they could see the current game of fencing better from down there. You pretended to cough and your lady-in-waiting, Siyeon, took the signal and came forward, asking you if you felt alright.
“I just have a bad headache, is all,” you sighed loudly, making the Queen look at you two interact.
“Goodness, you look pale, this won’t do,” Siyeon shook her head. “You should let me accompany you back for a while. A cup of tea or maybe some soup would do you good.”
“You can bring that here,” the Queen shifted in her seat. “We should maintain our attendance.”
“It would only take a few minutes, Your Majesty,” Siyeon insisted, bowing respectfully, and before the Queen could scold her, you got up.
“She’s right- I don’t want to create a scene here if I faint. I’m sure you wouldn’t like that, Your Majesty,” you smiled sweetly but the Queen could see right through you and she only rolled her eyes.
“You better be back before the hour is over.”
“You got it,” you winked at her, satisfied at the gasp that left her, grinning to yourself as you followed Siyeon. Once you were out of earshot, you slapped Soyeon playfully on the arm. “Nice work back there.”
“You’re going to get me executed, Your Highness, I haven’t even had the joy of marriage yet,” Siyeon grumbled, straightening her midnight blue gown, the uniform. “Please don’t take too long- I don’t want to go after you. In fact, going in the woods is a very, very bad idea- you’ll get lost, and I’ll get fired and executed for being lazy-”
“I’m glad you’re selfish,” you laughed. “I’ll find my way, don’t worry. Mingyu will be waiting, and he’ll make sure I get back safe. Just stay in my room and cover for me while I’m gone, will you?”
“I hope after all this trouble you go for this man, he treats you well,” Siyeon said and your smile didn’t meet your eyes. You entered an empty room outside your chamber, removing the outer layers of your clothes, the gown that indicated you were royalty, leaving you in normal clothes. You handed your tiara to Siyeon as well and she gave you the signal- no one would look at you twice today, at least. Not when you would be passing by as a noble woman, nothing more.
It was exciting, you had to admit. The thrill of sneaking out to meet someone- it would never get old. The way people met your eyes but didn’t look twice- it was refreshing, since all your life whenever someone dared look at you, it was either with wonder or fear. Mingyu, however, was different. He looked at you as if he was amused to find you to be the potential heir of the crown, and you couldn’t resist asking him what was so funny the next time you met him accidentally in the streets.
“I just think you’re too lovely to be wearing the heavy and dirty burden of the crown.”
“What makes you think I can’t handle it?” You had challenged, and he had laughed at that.
“I never said you can’t handle it.”
You had smiled at that, and he had treated you to some ice cream, and you had found his company entertaining. You didn’t realise how you started encountering him more- in the palace when he came to meet a friend- which was an excuse to see you, or in the streets whenever you went out- having known from his acquaintances in the palace, but somehow, you didn’t mind him popping out of nowhere. He looked at you differently, and it got you.
You smiled at the thought as you navigated through the woods, the daylight a relief, trying to recall what Mingyu had said the last time he had come to the palace and sneaked into your room for a very short, dangerous moment to kiss your cheek and tell you to meet him in the woods near where the stream parted, when the fencing matches would start. You strained your ears to detect any signs of a stream but it seemed like you were still far.
What you last expected was for two young men to spot you and grin at each other as they made their way to you, even when you had ignored them. They looked like they were athletes participating in the competition as well, since they wore the uniform. Perhaps they had come here as they waited for their turn, or perhaps they were done- it didn’t matter. It was your fault for thinking you could go alone in the woods on your own.
“And what’s a pretty little thing doing all alone? Lost?”
It was your fault. You rolled your eyes. “Making my way home- my brother’s picking me halfway. Have a nice day, gentlemen.”
You tried walking past them but they stepped in front of you. “We could drop you there- the halfway point.”
“There’s no need,” you insisted, this time pushing between the two and walking past, trying to ignore the way they laughed.
“Why don’t you stop and have some fun with us? Won’t do you no harm.”
You should have turned and slapped them or punched them- you could do that. You had the training. But you did the most stupid thing you could have done. You ran- and that made them chase you as well. You couldn’t think straight- this was all so new, so you did the next best thing. You screamed for help, once, twice, before deciding the birds that were listening weren’t going to be much help.
But what you didn’t expect was the familiar sound of an arrow whooshing in the air and you only had a second to make a quick jump as you ran, the arrow lodging in the arm of the one who had been right behind you, making him stop and scream as he clutched at the arm. You turned back, trying to figure out the source, but you saw nothing. The second man who had been looking after his friend lunged for you but he, too, got shot by an arrow in the leg. You started running again, fearing you were next, finally hearing the damned stream and making the way there, hiding behind a rock.
You watched the men struggling to run for their lives away from the stream and you sighed in relief, your breath catching when you finally spotted the person you definitely owed now- a young man with the most beautifully sculpted face you had ever seen, his physique radiating strength especially when he drew back another aimed arrow and put his bow down. You didn’t realise you were watching him shamelessly until he turned his full attention to you, flipping his hair back, and you immediately hid back behind the rock, praying to the heavens above that there was a small chance he hadn’t really seen you (even if you knew he had) or he would just call it a day and go back to wherever he came from-
“I saw you, you know.”
It was unfair, how even his voice had the strength to call your full attention- deep and rich, making you feel like it reverberated through your brain for a moment. You took a deep sigh- you had other problems to worry about, such as the fact that you were the Princess of Eden and this is the last place and situation you should be in.
“You do look awfully familiar, I have to say,” the man jumped in front of you and you put a hand on your heart- no living man had ever dared to pull such a stunt- not even Mingyu, yet. “Are you okay? Did they hurt you?”
“I’m- I’m okay,” you managed to say, finally meeting eyes with him, finding them a rich brown. “Thank you for saving me back there.”
“No problem,” he looked down as he brushed his clothes. “But you shouldn’t have been out here all alone- not today of all days.”
“I was meeting someone here,” you explained but he shook his head, handing you his flask of what you presumed had to be water- he must have noticed how you were still out of breath. You took a swig, wiping your mouth with your sleeve.
“That someone must either live under a rock or must be stupid enough to call a girl here,” he frowned. “Men fool around here especially at events like these.”
“And why are you here?” You raised a brow, making him raise a brow at your sudden shift of tone. You were back to normal. “With an aim like that, you should be participating.”
He pursed his lips as he smiled. “I’ve got better things to do.”
“Like saving damsels in distress?” You scoffed, finally moving from the rock and going to sit by the stream, washing your hands in the cool water, wondering if Mingyu really was waiting. “Can you tell me where this stream parts into two?”
“Is that where you’re meeting whoever?” He asked, sitting a respectable distance beside you.
“None of your business, but yes,” you sat cross-legged, retying your hair. It looked like he really didn’t recognise you and that was good. “So?”
“Just a few feet down the stream,” he pointed at your right. “Shouldn’t you go back though?”
“Maybe,” you shrugged, your shoulders slumping. “Can I just say he’s an asshole for asking me to meet there? He should have come to meet me! Why am I even making the effort?”
“Tell me more,” he turned his full attention towards you, resting his face in his hands, really eager as he waited. You glared at him but you needed to blow off the steam- the adrenaline from that experience was still there, and as someone who rarely encountered such incidents, you were finding that rambling was your coping mechanism.
“Yes, I’m meeting a guy. Here. Down the stream, actually. I’m not even meeting him anymore, he can go to hell. I don’t know why he thought I could even make it there or pass undetected. He really tests my patience sometimes.”
“And who is he? Your boyfriend?”
“I don’t know, maybe?” You shrugged and he gasped.
“You don’t know? Interesting.”
“No, what are you doing here?” You scanned him. “Hunting? You do know hunting is banned in this part of the woods, right?”
“I prefer the term ‘practising’,” he straightened a bit.
“Do you usually practise shooting on living breathing humans? Because if you do, we have a serious problem here-”
“Of course not,” he laughed a bit and you finally cracked a smile. “You really should go back- it’s going to get dark soon.”
“My time is up anyway,” you muttered as you got up, brushing your clothes and looking around. You had no idea which direction to go after running earlier. You asked him where the event was being held, making a story of how you sneaked here and your friends must be waiting. The way he looked at you made you wonder if he bought that story- he probably didn’t. He offered to drop you at the outskirts of the town and you agreed.
“I’m really curious though- why are you not participating? You’ve got a killer aim.”
He side-eyed you and you smirked. Groaning, he said, “I just don’t like being the centre of attention- not like that.”
You made an impressed face- you wished you had the luxury of deciding that for yourself too. “Well, I hope you’re doing something good or worthwhile with your skill. Wouldn’t want to put it to waste, would we?”
“I have better things to do-”
“You always do,” you interrupted and he smiled at that.
“I just mean… I’m actually a strategist in one of the royal legions,” he admitted and you wowed at that- he was quite young. You thought strategists were always old or experienced people- at least from what you had seen. “So really, I do have better things to do.”
“Suit yourself,” you bowed in thanks when you spotted the hustle bustle of the town, the sound of the drums in the event not far. “Thank you for accompanying me.”
“Be careful,” he simply said, turning before you could ask his name. You would probably never see him again. You sighed deeply before making your way back to your chamber where Siyeon was already waiting, scolding you for taking so long. You didn’t tell her that you didn’t meet Mingyu, nor did you tell her about the person you had spent the hour with. However, he was all you thought about for the remaining part of the event, seated back as a royal.
What different worlds you two belonged in. It was both thrilling and a little sad.
—------------------
“Good morning, Your Majesty,” you bowed deeply to your father, the King, before sitting down in front of him in his room. He watched you with mild amusement and you raised a brow in question, wondering what was going on in his mind.
“Good morning to you too, I suppose,” he was taking quick puffs of his cigar. “Though I’m not quite sure it will be good by the time you leave this room.”
“Ah,” you scoffed, dropping all formalities since it was only father and daughter in the room- not king and princess. “Mother dearest must be on her way here.”
“With Chan,” he referred to his son, your stepbrother.
“Isn’t that good?” You were smirking and your father practically glared at you.
“I don’t know why she thinks you are plotting something against Channie when you two are always partners in crime,” he shook his head, pinching his nose bridge. “If anything, with the relation you two have, you should be able to rule side by side, but-”
“But there can be only one ruler on the throne, for the peace of this nation,” the Queen entered, Chan right behind her who threw a wink in your direction.
“For the peace of this nation, I never should have married you,” your father joked and the Queen rolled her eyes. “And then we wouldn’t be dealing with this… mess.”
“We’re a mess?” Chan put a hurt hand on his chest as he bowed and sat down beside you. “I bet your father thought so too, about you-”
“Chan-” his mother warned but you could barely contain your giggle and that made your father laugh too, making the woman shake her head in annoyance.
“Anyways, back to business,” the King straightened and so did all of you. “The governors are all demanding a quick decision about who is going to be accompanying me when we go to the West. They think it would make a statement about the heir if I choose only one of you, so I’m suggesting you both join me.”
“Nonsense,” the Queen started. “Why would you take the Princess in a place where there will only be men? Just take Chan.”
“It’s not like there won’t be any women there,” your father began but you shook your head at him, asking him to not bother explaining himself. “Besides, she is older than Chan. He could learn from her.”
“If you insist, I’ll accompany you, but I think Chan should come with us too,” you looked at the Queen who narrowed her eyes as if you were cooking up a scheme. “I’ll feel more comfortable, and he should really start involving himself more in the court matters.”
“I don’t want to inherit the throne though,” Chan muttered, only for your ears. While the King and the Queen argued, you turned to him.
“It doesn’t matter if you want to or not; you should still know how the court, how the palace works. That’s your duty, okay?”
“Okay,” he shrugged, “I know you’re only making me tag alone so you won’t be bored.”
“Duh,” you smiled and he grinned at you.
The King asked to be left alone after you two watched them argue senselessly for a few more minutes. As you exited the room, Chan scurried off before his mother could rant to him, which left you as her target.
“You,” she sneered. “I know what you’re thinking. You’re going to make a fool of my Chan and win your father’s favour.”
“In case you forgot,” you folded your arms, not bothering to be courteous when she always assumed the worst of you. “Chan despises the throne, and it’s not my favourite job either. We all know father only favours me because Chan hasn’t shown much interest.”
“That’s not true. He thinks you’re interested, and you’re older- that’s the excuse he always gives. Does he not realise you won’t make a good ruler?”
“And would you?” You challenged her, taking a step towards her, making her glare at you. “Aren’t you only pushing for Chan because you want to use him as a puppet while you run the palace?”
You didn’t wait for her response but got the satisfaction of her gaping at you. Siyeon, who was watching all of this from a distance, shook her head at the Queen and passed you a smirk as she fell in step with you, reciting your schedule.
“Before you go to your room… there’s someone waiting for you in the guest chambers.”
You raised a brow and she nodded. You let her accompany you- it had to be Mingyu, and you were still a bit pissed at him. Siyeon made sure no one had followed you before letting you in, waiting outside.
“Your Highness,” Mingyu’s honey voice was laced with amusement and you got the sudden urge to accompany him to the palace prison.
“I can’t believe you asked me to meet you in the forest, Mingyu,” you were angry and he was finding that funny, which was annoying you further. “As you suspected, I almost got lost and made my way back before someone would think my head was a nice place to land their weapon.”
Mingyu laughed at that, running a hand through his dark hair. “I waited for you, you know.”
“You shouldn’t have. Let’s not meet anymore,” you announced, about to turn back but Mingyu grabbed your wrist, turning you around and into him, putting a hand beneath your chin and lifting it up to make you face him.
“Did I ever tell you you’re cute when angry?”
“You don’t need to,” you scoffed but he had you- you were smiling now. “I know so.”
“Hmm, I like this confidence,” he tucked your hair back and kissed your cheek, making your hand go to the back of his neck, resting at the nape. “You know what else I like?”
“We don’t have much time, so shut up and kiss me,” you muttered and immediately, you two were tangling yourselves in each other as you kissed, fiercely and desperate, being chased by time.
It was always like this with him. A few moments, stolen kisses, no promises of the future. No prying into each other’s personal lives. Just two people who got attracted to each other by chance, and decided to test the waters- you were sure he had better reasons for why he decided to play with fire, but you?
Your cheeks would flame whenever you would think about it. You weren’t sure how much you liked Mingyu yet, but you did like him. He was smart, and comfortable to be with. As a Princess, you didn’t have the luxury to explore much, so being with Mingyu sometimes made you feel like you were in the clouds. He would listen to you if you had some steam to blow off, and he would kiss your worries away. So simply put, you were lonely, and he wasn’t bad to be with.
What Mingyu was expecting out of this, you didn’t know, and you didn’t want to know yet. He was a part of the court, though, and that was the only thing about him that set you off. People were always greedy for something. And you wished Mingyu was greedy for the right things- like you were. Greedy for love and acceptance.
“Where are you?” Mingyu paused to look at you, caressing your cheeks. “You’re lost somewhere, aren’t you? Is something the matter?”
“Nothing,” you smiled weakly. “Just the usual. Have you been well?”
“I have,” he kissed your forehead. “I’ll be coming officially soon- maybe we could spend time together then.”
“I’ll see,” you assured him, pecking his lips. “I have to go now.”
Mingyu nodded, scanning your face with a smile on his face before he kissed you again and then let you go. You left first, spotting Siyeon who looked like she was going to have a stroke.
“What took you so long, Princess?” She huffed. “My heart stopped like ten times whenever someone passed by and spotted me.”
“You’re too dramatic,” you laughed at her, letting her accompany you to one of the scholar’s offices, where you were getting trained in strategy. You made sure you yawned wide and good as soon as you entered, and the old man shook his head at you.
“This doesn’t work on me,” he let you know.
“I’m feeling sleepy because it’s you who’s tutoring me, Professor Seo,” you teased, joining him at the desk. “So? Let’s start.”
The day passed like any of the other days. Professor Seo told you to meet him in the library when you would be free from your duties in the evening, and though he was an old man and a boomer, if you were honest, you respected him as your teacher a lot. He had honed you into who you were. You owed him much more than that.
However, the last thing you were expecting was to see another presence with him, one that was both familiar and unfamiliar.
“This is Kang Yeosang, one of my friend’s son, a strategist in the royal legion in the North,” your tutor introduced him and the man first bowed to you, but as soon as he raised his head to look at you, he frowned.
And you frowned.
And then it clicked.
“Uh, nice to meet you,” you glared at him a bit as you shook his hand, silently asking him to keep his mouth shut. However, he was thoroughly amused.
“The pleasure’s mine… Your Highness,” he almost mocked and you two took a seat, your teacher looking between you two.
“Have you both met before?”
“Not at all-” “Never-”
“Alright, I get it,” the old man sighed. “Your Highness, I have an urgent matter to attend to in the North. I’m afraid I won’t be able to join you in your lessons, which is why I arranged for a replacement.”
You made an impressed face. “He’s… quite young for your replacement, I must say.”
The two of them laughed at that. “He’s the best I could offer. He’s a… prodigy, if you will. And if you like him better than me, maybe I can finally retire.”
“I got used to you, so I don’t know about that,” you fiddled with the hourglass on the table as you thought. “Is everything okay in the North?”
The old man looked at Yeosang and he cleared his throat. “There’s some conflict at the border, which he must inspect. I may be a prodigy but I’m not more experienced than him, which is why he suggested that we shift.”
“I understand, and I hope you return back well and healthy,” you smiled at your teacher and he relaxed visibly, making you roll your eyes. “It’s not like I was going to, I don’t know, throw a tantrum about you going. In fact…” you looked at Yeosang, “I think I’ll enjoy his company more.”
“No funny business, you hear me?” He pointed at you two and Yeosang raised his hands in surrender. “She’s quite difficult to handle, but hear me, Princess. He’s here for a reason. He’ll tame you.”
Yeosang coughed at that and you shot him another glare- he was making it too obvious now. Thankfully, the old man got up and told you both to acquaint yourselves, leaving you two alone in the library, both of you mirroring each other’s posture and expressions- folded arms and sceptic looks.
“So, Princess,” he started. “I believe this is the first time we’re officially meeting.”
“Officially, yes,” you nodded- no point pretending that time in the forest three days ago didn’t happen. “Shouldn’t you be, I don’t know, roasting some squirrels in the forest or shooting strangers?”
“And shouldn’t you be on the way to meet a certain someone-”
“Not one more word about it, not here, you hear me?” You were almost whispering, to his amusement. “The palace has ears everywhere.”
“Well, you don’t have to worry about anything,” Yeosang adjusted the collar of his shirt as he spoke. “We’re meeting for the first time. It seems like I’ll be your replacement tutor for a while, so I expect you to match my pace. Let’s be punctual in the mornings, shall we?”
“Of course,” you almost scoffed. “I’m guessing my dear old Professor must have complained.”
“Not really,” Yeosang leaned in, as if sharing a secret. “I figured you’re that type of a person.”
“Really?” You leaned in as well, more surprised to see him not backing off like others would. “What made you think so?”
“What do you think?” He almost laughed, getting up. “It’s getting late so let’s continue this tomorrow.”
—-----------------
“I can’t believe you asked me to be punctual and all when you’re late yourself and you’re trying your best not to doze off.”
“I’m sorry, I couldn’t sleep last night- Professor Seo took me out for drinks to introduce me to his friends here and you know how it gets…” Yeosang faltered when he saw your annoyed face. He smirked. “Are you the type that’s a teacher’s pet? Because you seem overly eager to be tutored-”
“I’m not,” you groaned, sighing deeply. “But you yawning widely when I’m reciting what I’ve learned so far really was the last straw.”
“I was only yawning, doesn’t mean I wasn’t listening,” he raised a brow and you glared at him.
“Did you hear the part about how I have to go to the East with the King?”
“You have to go to the West,” he smirked and you grinned. “See? I was listening.”
“I can’t concentrate if you look so sleepy, though,” you pouted. “It will make me sleepy too.”
“Then let’s just ditch all this,” Yeosang practically threw the register on the table to your left. “And take a little nap.”
“I ought to tell Professor Seo-” you were about to get up but Yeosang laughed, holding your sleeve and pulling you down and you raised a brow.
“What?” Yeosang scoffed. “Don’t expect me to apologise or something. You still owe me for saving your life back there.”
You were the Princess of Eden, possible future Queen of an entire nation. But this individual seemed to not care about your status or the fact that you could end his career or life with a mere command alone. Perhaps because he had seen you as a damsel in distress, or perhaps because he was just like this. Peculiar. Interesting, even.
You rested your face in your hand, elbow on the table, as you stared at him. “I thought I told you to forget about that. It never happened. Nothing. Erase it from history.”
“I wasn’t aware the Princess of Eden had such secrets,” he mirrored your position. “And I wasn’t aware she was someone who took favours for granted.”
“Well, what do you want me to do? Pay you in gold? I can do that if you’d like.”
“I’m not interested in that, sadly,” Yeosang sighed as if it really was such a shame that he wasn’t. “I’m a rather humble person, which is why I only ask that we do not pretend that it never happened. I have an unfortunate habit of teasing, and if you can put up with it, that would be enough.”
“You’re an interesting person, Kang Yeosang,” you said and he smiled cheekily. “And your methods of teaching are also unconventional.”
“This is my first time tutoring someone,” Yeosang admitted and you were surprised at that. “So you can expect that. I think strategy is better learned from practical examples than by theory. And you don’t have to stick to battle. In your position, if you’re not strategic with every step you take, people will take the chance to pound at you from all directions.”
You considered that for a moment. “Did Professor Seo tell you something?”
“What he told me was enough,” he admitted and you relaxed- if he was someone Professor Seo trusted, that meant you could trust him as well. After all, the Professor was more a father than your own. “I still have to ask one question, if you would be so kind as to answer.”
“Go ahead,” you urged him.
“Why are you not interested in the throne, apart from the obvious reasons?” Yeosang leaned in, pushing back his dark hair. “You seem to have a rebellious streak within you, and I’m not sure why you’re not attracted to that offer- you could break the norms in Eden by being the first true Queen of Eden.”
“I know how big that sounds,” you sighed. “I’d be setting an example for all the females ahead- that there doesn’t necessarily have to be a Prince who rules the throne, but a Princess too. All these years in Eden’s history, if the eldest was a daughter, she would be considered negligible.”
“That’s right,” Yeosang nodded. “And Prince Chan isn’t too interested in the throne either. Everything seems perfect, yet…”
“Yet,” you almost smiled. “Do I really have to? I mean, I could. I’m ready, even, it’s what I’ve been trained for my whole life. Besides, my father, the King, would like me as his heir too. But as a person… I think I’m not good enough for that job. I have a few threats on my head if I am appointed the heir too, so I can’t jump on that chance without taking care of that matter- unless I’m okay with getting murdered which frankly, I’m not because I haven’t even lived yet-”
There it was. Yeosang’s knowing smirk- and your rambling mouth that was your besetting sin. Yeosang cocked his head. “You want to live a little, don’t you? Before you inevitably become bound forever? Is that why you’re risking so much meeting strangers in the forest?”
“First of all, you have no right,” you sneered but when he didn’t so much as twitch, you slumped back. “But yes. I guess so. I don’t know what I’m doing, but I don’t want to stop, yet. And anyways, our time is over,” you pointed at the clock. “Let’s continue this later, I have places to be.”
“Of course,” Yeosang nodded, resting his head on the table. “I’ll be taking a little nap here. You can go, Your Highness.”
You got up and stared at him, making him open one eye. “What?”
“I hope you won’t be rambling off whatever I said when you go to one of your drinks or something,” you muttered.
“I’m not the one with the big mouth here, Your Highness- ow!” He rubbed his head when you not-so-gracefully threw your pen at him. You left, laughing loudly to annoy him but you could feel him smiling even though you couldn’t see him.
You didn’t know what it was about him that made the flow of conversation easier, that made you ramble without a second thought, that made you answer his very personal questions even when you hadn’t allowed this luxury to Mingyu, but… he really was an interesting person. You were having the sudden urge to ditch your next lessons and talk to him more, get to know him and judge him, see if he could be of more help, but you reminded yourself this was only your second (or third) meeting and you should take it slow.
You shouldn’t make the same mistake you did with Mingyu.
Again, you found yourself pausing- whatever you had with Mingyu was a mistake, and this was the first time you admitted it to yourself. But… not all mistakes would bring bad consequences, right?
—------------------------
A few days later, Yeosang and you decided to take a walk around town- another one of his unconventional teaching methods. You were to dress as a noble lady, not the Princess, and learn the art of blending in.
You were also finding him wiser than you had initially thought. You two were crossing the road that led to the middle of the town from the palace when he explained the purpose of today’s lesson. “Strategy for you, Princess, is the art of disguising. When you are in the middle of planning an actual strategy for let’s say, a situation at the border or potential battle threat, or even civil war, would you trust everyone who’s in the same room with you as you plan?”
“I suppose not,” you nodded, adjusting your hanbok, walking comfortably for now due to the lack of the passersby. “As a Princess, I can trust no one. Not even family.”
“Exactly,” Yeosang clapped once. “You are capable of making several layouts in your head for any plan, I’m assuming?” When you nodded, he continued. “Real strategy lies in letting those people hear what they want to hear but doing what you want to. Please them but use them.”
“Ah,” you smirked to yourself. “I’m good at that.”
Yeosang gave you a doubtful look. “So, to make it seem legit, what will you do? You will need to blend in- not just in appearance, but in emotions, in their feelings. Now, we’ve almost reached town. I’ll let you lead and give you my judgement on our way back. We’re shopping in the marketplace first, and then we’re having lunch in public.”
“I wonder who allowed you to take me without guards-”
“I am the guard, in case you forgot,” Yeosang proudly pulled at his clothes and you scoffed. “I’m an excellent archer. Need I remind you how I-”
“I don’t see your bow and arrow today, though,” you pointed out. Yeosang paused as he looked at you.
“What makes you think my aim with daggers would be any weaker?”
“Wow,” you were actually amazed this time. “Maybe I should have paid attention when they were teaching self defence.”
“It’s never too late,” Yeosang resumed walking, urging you with a casual hand on your back. “Everyone should know the basics so they don’t encounter a situation like you did in the forest.”
“You’re never going to let me live that one down, are you?” You asked, tensing when you saw a couple looking in your direction and scoffing. Yeosang smiled to himself, not pausing, his hand keeping you walking as well. “Why did they laugh at us?”
“Why do you think? Now stop looking like you’re about to commit a murder and blend in.”
“But I am-” you shut up when you two took the final turn that led to the marketplace and this time, Yeosang let you take a deep breath as you took in the scene.
There were people of all ages in the market- from old people who couldn’t even walk properly to kids running around, a group of them circling around you as they chased each other, making you almost yelp. Instinctively, you tried hiding behind Yeosang but he shook his head- this was your mission, after all. Blend in. the question remained- would people recognise you? Would they look at you twice?
“You have to stop at at least three shops and buy three things of different categories. So let’s start,” Yeosang said as he smirked. You glared at him before holding your head high as you walked.
“Do you think you should walk so arrogantly?” Yeosang leaned in to whisper in your ear and you swatted him away, thoroughly annoyed.
“You think I can’t blend in? Fine- I’ll show you how good I am at it,” you said and didn’t bother waiting for Yeosang as you marched to the stall selling some candy.
“What’s this called?” You asked the shopkeeper and both him and Yeosang snorted.
“It seems like she’s not from around here,” the shopkeeper smiled at Yeosang. “It’s called marshmallows.”
“Yeah, I’m not from around here, so I wouldn’t know,” you smirked at Yeosang and he raised a brow at how you had managed to twist the situation in your favour. “Is it a local delicacy? I haven’t seen it in the West.”
“Ah, yes, you wouldn’t see it in the West, I suppose,” the shopkeeper folded his arms. “Which ones shall I pack? They all taste the same so choose your colours- and add some flavoured jelly with it.”
“Hmm, let me see,” you took in the variety of the pastel marshmallows. “A few of each would be nice.”
The shopkeeper packed it for you with sticks for both of you and Yeosang paid for it. You were smiling cheekily at him as you waited for him and he scoffed when he saw you. “The day is not over yet.”
Yeosang wasn’t very surprised when you managed to shop for a few trinkets, a calligraphy brush and even a neck scarf. He had already judged you to be quick at adapting. You didn’t attract much attention at all, and he found you relaxing more and more as the day passed. Lunch was normal as well, choosing an outdoor dining as you ate noodles. However, the real test would be when someone would recognise her.
And he was going to make sure someone did. While you were busy admiring roses at a flower shop, Yeosang called a group of kids over and whispered what they needed to do, handing them some coins. The kids disappeared, unnoticed by you. However, as you turned, the kids (excellent actors, Yeosang laughed to himself) halted when they spotted you.
And you halted as well, frowning. Had the kids recognised you or what?
“Are you the princess?” One of the girls asked and you let out a nervous laugh, peeking at Yeosang who was currently too interested in his fingernails.
“I told you, she is,” a boy elbowed her. “I saw her at the Athletics Championship.”
“You’re lying,” another girl argued. “Why is she not wearing her princess outfit?”
You snorted at that and the kids looked at you. “What? Do you think the Princess even sleeps wearing a fancy gown?”
“She doesn’t?” the first girl frowned.
As the kids bickered among themselves, you turned to Yeosang. “I thought you could do better.”
“What?” Yeosang pretended to feign ignorance and you rolled your eyes. You were about to tell the kids to scoot off, but a woman came rushing towards the kids, scolding them for straying too far. You watched them, forgetting everything else for a moment until the woman looked at you and gasped.
“Your Highness!” She bowed deeply, and the kids burst into an excited fit that panicked you and you looked at Yeosang who was equally surprised. So this wasn’t planned…
“Your Highness?” A man who had been passing by also followed the woman’s suit and you groaned.
“Please, rise,” you commanded and they did, and you looked around, grateful for the lack of audience. “I am visiting town unofficially, so I hope you’ll keep my presence a secret.”
“Of course,” the woman nodded. “I’m a palace maid- you probably don’t recognise me. I’m happy to see that you’re out of the palace! You’re always inside- I hope you enjoy today.”
You were surprised at that- not her being a palace maid, but her observation about you. You thanked her, and the man grinned at you as a sign that he would keep it a secret as well and when they were gone, you finally looked at Yeosang who looked a little guilty. “Do I look that much of a bore?”
“What?” Yeosang laughed, not expecting that question so not understanding what you meant either.
“I mean,” you sighed. “The woman basically said that, right? That I’m always cooped up in my room?”
“Was she wrong?” Yeosang scoffed.
“No, which is why it hurts,” you laughed sadly. “I need more adventures in my life-”
You spotted a familiar face in the crowd- Mingyu. What were the odds?
“Uh, Yeosang,” you kept your eyes at Mingyu who was alone, thankfully. “Do you mind if I go meet an acquaintance?”
Yeosang followed your gaze, right beside you. “Oh, is that the boyfriend? What a coincidence. I promise this was not arranged by me.”
“I know,” you tapped his arm as an indication that you were going. “You better wait right here- I’ll be back soon.”
Yeosang watched you boldly walk to the man who had to do a double-take as he saw you, and then you both disappeared in the alley, Yeosang laughing silently to himself. He had to admit- he was curious about what exactly was the relation between you two. He resorted to sitting on the bench and staring at the sky, while you?
You practically dragged Mingyu in the alley, the two of you stifling your laughs and hiding in a corner, you two were all over each other. You two were kissing like you were teenagers who had snuck out behind their parents’ backs, like you were past curfew. When you finally broke apart, Mingyu was grinning. “What are you doing here, Princess of Eden?”
“I was out with my tutor on a mission- blending in with the crowd,” you wiggled your eyebrows at him. “We haven’t properly sat in so long, Mingyu. Are you ever coming to meet me properly, or should I forget about you?”
“I promise I will,” Mingyu rubbed your arms. “I might get a job where I’ll have to frequent the palace often, so I’m concentrating on getting that first.”
“Really?” You were pleased. “What job?”
“My dad’s sick, so he might push me to handle his current affairs,” he said and you recalled how his father was a court member. “Let’s see how it goes.”
“Yeah, I’ll… look forward to seeing you,” you smiled at him. “I shouldn’t keep him waiting- I should go.”
“Okay,” he pecked your lips. “Go.”
Though you had just met your ‘boyfriend’, you didn’t look lovestruck, Yeosang thought, as you walked to him and joined him on the bench, slumping down with a sigh that made him feel as if something was bothering you. Yeosang simply offered you the same candy bag and you took some, the both of you staring at the sky.
“If you sigh anymore, I’m going to have to assume you broke up.”
“It’s not that,” you laughed. “It’s… I don’t know. He’s not my boyfriend, by the way.”
“Yet…” Yeosang raised his brows.
“Yet…” you sighed again. “He makes me forget that I am a princess when I am with him.”
“In a good way or a bad way?” Yeosang asked and you frowned- you had never had anything to compare it with, but today…
Or rather, with Yeosang, you hardly felt like a princess at all as well. And though Yeosang obviously treated you like just any other human… it was somehow better than Mingyu walking on eggshells with you or looking at you as if you would break. As if you were brittle- that you couldn’t bend, you’d simply break. So you only shook your head in answer, and that was enough for Yeosang.
“Can I confess something?” You asked and Yeosang shrugged. He didn’t seem like someone who would judge you. “I don’t think Mingyu is the type of person I’d be happy with in the long run.”
“Ah, so that’s the name-”
“I think,” you ignored him, finding the fluffy clouds in the sky strangely comforting. “I think we’re both using each other one way or another. He’s handsome and I’m not the prettiest girl alive, so I wonder what he’s using me for. It’s obvious why I am, but I don’t think I want to know why he is. I don’t think I’d like the answer.”
“Then you don’t need to ask the question,” Yeosang commented. “You could part ways on good terms too.”
“That’s true,” you looked at him, smiling. “You know, you’re feeling more like a friend than a tutor or whatever you’re supposed to be. I like it.”
Yeosang put a hand on his chest and for a moment, you thought he was touched, until he said, “Then I have failed.”
You smacked his arm harshly and he laughed, shaking his head. “You’ve never had a friend, have you?”
“There’s Siyeon but she’s more like an elder sister,” you admitted. “Also, tell me you think of me as a friend too. I’d be hurt if you don’t.”
“As you know, I’m not the type of person who cares whether you’re hurt or not,” he brushed his clothes, getting up and offering you his hand, which you took as you got up as well. “But I think we could be friends. Only when I’m not tutoring you- I don’t want you to have the upper hand.”
You squeezed his hand, grinning. You could work with that.
—-----------------
“I can’t believe I thought you wouldn’t suck so much,” Yeosang was shaking his head in disappointment and you aimed an arrow at him. He didn’t even flinch when you let it loose- he already knew by what margin your arrows were always off, and he didn’t need to move- the arrow flew well past him.
“It’s insulting that you didn’t even flinch,” you were laughing in disbelief at his guts. “How are you so good with all this calculating and aiming?”
“I grew up surrounded by archers,” Yeosang admitted, collecting the arrows as he walked around. You slumped down on the bench, waiting for him to continue. “I still think your case can be improved, so let’s not give up.”
“You remember what we promised, right?” You wiggled your brows at him and he rolled his eyes.
In the course of the past few days, there was a certain air of comfortableness between you two, growing casual with each passing day. As a tutor during the early hours of the day, you stopped giving him a hard time (only because you had the rest of the day to annoy the fuck out of him) and focusing on what he taught you- he was brilliant, you had to admit. He had taught you more tips and tricks than you had learnt in the entire course of your life. You would never admit that to him, or even to Professor Seo since he had shaped you at a good pace, but he really was amazing.
He kept insisting that you get basic self defence training before you go to the West. The civil war threat was still growing and the locals there were kind of brutal. You agreed that you’ve had enough of being the damsel, so you were going to learn to fight, at least enough to not get yourself killed in a stupid way. And Yeosang had been kind enough to try to teach you, albeit with little progress in the past two days.
Today, though, you struck a bargain with him- if your aim got better today, he would help you sneak out at night so you could meet up with Mingyu.
Though he pretended to puke at the idea of it, he agreed only because you thought you wouldn’t get any better. He didn’t care if you met Mingyu or any other person, he didn’t care what you did with them, as long as he wasn’t involved, but for someone who didn’t bat an eye when others would very well crucify you, he was awfully curious. You were guessing curiosity was his besetting sin. Or maybe because you were the Princess of Eden, he was taking more interest in your life than he would have in any other person’s. Whatever the reason, you didn’t mind. You were very used to people prying into your private matters, but Yeosang was different- you just knew he didn’t have any evil intentions.
“You won’t ever hit your target at this rate, let me show you,” Yeosang said as he got up, making his way towards you. He stood next to you with his own bow and arrow, instructing you on how you should place your legs, how taut your arms should be, how you should hold the weapon properly.
“Like this?” You mirrored his position- or at least tried. He didn’t look satisfied but he nodded, urging you to try. You did, and surprisingly, this was the first time you hit the target on the tree, though you had almost missed it.
“Again,” he instructed and you did, twice, watching him walk around you as he checked your posture. “I need your full focus on your target, not on me.”
“Yes sir,” you muttered, trying to pry your eyes from Yeosang who, frankly, looked absolutely ethereal in the glow of the sun. It was unfair how handsome he was. Sometimes you wondered how his parents looked like to have a son who looked like him.
“Let me,” Yeosang met eyes with you, his hands raised in the air in front of you and you nodded. He fixed the position of your bow and then stood beside you, prying your fingers loose and positioning them correctly, his hands unexpectedly warmer than you had expected. With a hand on your back, he muttered instructions- which parts to relax, which parts to stretch, and the way his hands travelled all over your upper body-
Even though you were wearing a good amount of layers, you had to suppress the shiver with all your strength. Especially when he stood right behind you, snaking his arms around you as he positioned the bow and arrow.
“Shoot,” his breath caressed your ear and you were sure that was why you let go of the arrow, instead of the command. Yeosang drew back, clapping. “That’s much better. Let me see,” he said, standing in front of you and scanning you.
“Relax that frown,” he pointed at your forehead. “And exhale with the arrow. Come on.”
You shifted your focus to the target and did what he said- this time hitting the arrow only a few inches above the bullseye. You lowered your bow, sharing a grin.
“See? Now you only gotta practise. And for the aim, try shooting daggers as well. Let’s do that next time.”
You continued to practise, your aim getting much better, while Yeosang lied casually on one of the benches, reading a book- or pretending to. You were pretty sure he had passed out at some point, and when you couldn’t shoot any more arrows, drained, you made your way to Yeosang, glancing around for any maids or guards- after all, you were still in the palace. Finding none, you flicked Yeosang’s forehead to wake him up-
Which resulted in him grabbing your wrist before you could blink, scaring you for a moment before he relaxed, letting go. “Sorry, I thought it was someone else.”
“Who would dare?” You rubbed your wrist, trying to calm your pounding heart. “You’ve got killer reflexes.”
“I do?” He laughed, tapping the space beside him and you sat down, stretching your arms and legs as you sighed deeply. “You’ve gotten better.”
He was staring at the arrows lodged in the target board. You grinned. “Now you’ll have to sneak me out.”
“I shouldn’t have helped you,” he shook his head but gave in. “As promised. But if we get caught, come up with a story before they send me for execution.”
“Of course,” you promised. “He’s coming tonight, you know. Mingyu. Should I see him before dinner or after?”
“Before would be better, night time makes everything more suspicious,” Yeosang ran a hand through his hair. “But then… everything is so visible before the sun sets down.”
“Night time is better,” you were thinking to yourself, folding your arms. “I can make the excuse of feeling under the weather and retiring early from my activities, and then wait for him in one of the guest rooms. All you have to do, Yeosang dear, is keep watch and alert me with three knocks on the door so I can sneak out from there and run.”
“What would happen if you got caught?” He asked and when you narrowed your eyes at him, he explained that he was just curious.
“I don’t know, actually,” you took a deep breath. “If it gets public, I guess the people will frown upon me, and then father’s plan of making me his heir would get more complicated.”
“You don’t seem particularly sad about that,” Yeosang observed.
“Well, it seems like I’m not hungry for that power yet.”
Oh, power was boring- you had seen enough of it in the two decades of your life. Sure, it had its perks- especially when you get to pull rank at times, however, once you took the crown and ascended as Queen, the little freedom you had? It would be gone like it was never there to begin with. So, yes. You did not like the idea of being his heir- at least not yet, and you were pretty sure you would never-
“Ah, so you’re simply hungry for an adventure,” Yeosang’s eyes practically gleamed as he made the connection.
You supposed he was right. After all, why were you still agreeing to meeting Mingyu, sneaking around the palace like a rat, walking on your tiptoes afraid of getting caught, all for someone you weren’t even sure about? Especially when you finally entered a guest room, finding that the thrill in your heart was not because you finally got to see Mingyu after so long but because of the excitement that came with the process?
As Mingyu smirked and walked towards you with light steps, tucking your hair behind as a greeting, you wondered if there was something lost in you. You wondered if you would ever find true love in your life- the kind of love they talked about in the books, the kind of love that people gave their lives for. Mingyu was not that person for you. And what turned you off the most about him was that he never tried to get to know you. Yes, he would listen when you would talk, but he never asked questions. He wasn’t interested in you.
Which meant there had to be something else that he was interested in. As far as you knew, he was only meeting you. He didn’t have someone else in his life, so what was he after?
“You feel so distant tonight,” he commented as he caressed your face. “Is everything okay?”
“Yeah, just tired from all the practice,” you passed him a weak smile and he didn’t probe further, fishing out something from his pocket.
“Remember when we met in the market?” He grinned, “I may have gotten you something.”
You made an impressed face and opened the box- it was a necklace with a little golden heart pendant, intricately carved. “It’s pretty. Thank you.”
“You like it?” He pressed a kiss on your temple and you nodded, shy when he let his nose trace the angles of your face, his breath caressing you. “What else do you like, Princess?”
Well, the one thing he was good at was… whatever he was doing right now, snaking his hands around your waist and pulling you forward as he kissed you, letting his lips trail down your neck, peppering kisses and sucking at a few spots, drawing the collar of your dress away and making you gasp, drawing it away even further-
“Wait,” you suddenly pulled back, drawing your dress up and frowned when he looked disappointed. “I- I should go, we don’t have the luxury of time, Mingyu. Not right now.”
“It’s okay,” he got up and straightened his clothes. “I should leave anyway. My friend is waiting for me right outside the palace gates.”
“Oh, okay,” you nodded, getting up yourself. “See you soon?”
He smiled, tipping his hat before leaving and you didn’t realise how long you kept staring into the distance until Siyeon finally entered after a knock.
“Are you okay, Princess?”
“Ah, yes, I am,” you nodded. “Just taking a breather. Let’s go.”
You made your way to your room, not noticing Mingyu walking not towards the palace gates but to the direction where the Queen’s private chamber was. However, Yeosang who had forgotten his book in the library noticed Mingyu conversing with the Queen herself, hidden from sight- anyone else would not have noticed but Yeosang was more observant than the usual person. He wondered why the two were talking, dismissing it as their private matter, but as he tried to sleep that night, he kept wondering if you knew that the Queen and Mingyu knew each other enough to meet out of plain sight.
—------------------
“I didn’t know there was a place like this in the palace,” Yeosang commented, looking around after dusting himself. You passed him a grin.
“I found this when I was 11,” you told him. “My mother used to come here when she wanted to get away from things- I once followed her. After she passed away, I forgot all about this place until one day, I found myself walking here.”
“I can see why she would want to come here,” Yeosang folded his arms, nodding.
Away from all the hustle and bustle of the palace, at the far-east corner of the vast gardens that stretched at the borders, there was an opening in the fence, hidden from the overgrown vines. You supposed when your mother was alive, she must have maintained the place, but now… it was just a collection of forgotten memories, dust and overgrown plants. The hut was dark and home to spiders and other animals- you never dared go inside, preferring to rest on the stairs that overlooked the pond and the large tree which was the highlight of the little place- purple flower petals crowding the ground and the pond.
“Ah, there’s a cat here now,” you waved at the cat but it sneered at you before taking off, making Yeosang chuckle as he sat beside you, peeking inside the veranda. “What a rude cat!”
“You’re the one disturbing the poor cat’s peace,” Yeosang commented. “So? What are we going to do now that we’re here?”
“Well, I don’t know, not study for once?” You narrowed your eyes at him- he had been pretty strict with keeping the studying schedule. He had also been strict with your other classes- you were pretty good with weapons now- Yeosang would never admit that, always dismissing you off as ‘average’, but his proud cheeky smile? He couldn’t hide that.
“Ah, so it’s just you and me then, huh?” Yeosang asked and you poked your tongue in your cheek as you wondered how to respond to that. He seemed to realise that and he shook his head. “I mean, as friends? That’s how we decided to go, right? Unless you’re planning to bury me here… pretty sure no one would find my body if you do-”
“Yes, let’s just talk and relax, and by the end of it I will decide if I really want to bury you here,” you passed him a sarcastically sweet smile. “Have you heard from Professor Seo yet?”
“I received a letter today, he’s doing fine and the situation is handled, but he decided to visit his family before returning,” he told you and you found yourself more relieved than disappointed about his late return. Yeosang spotted that right away and smirked. “Pleased that he’s not coming back soon?”
“He’s kind of boring and you’re… kind of not?”
“Why did that end as a question?” Yeosang frowned and you shook your head.
“Anyways, you said you wanted to talk to me about something- what was it?” You asked and saw him visibly struggle as he decided whether he really wanted to say it or not. “Just spill- don’t make that face.”
“Well, it’s about Mingyu- let me make a few things clear first,” he cleared his throat and you raised a brow. “I am not interested in your relationship with him or whatever you do, and I don’t mean to pry, but what you said about him wanting something from you…”
“Well?” You urged him.
“Do the Queen and Mingyu know each other in some way? Because I checked and Mingyu wouldn’t need to privately converse with the Queen over his work matters.”
You felt your heart sink at that but tried to think rationally- maybe the Queen spotted him and called him? Maybe she found out about you two? But you couldn’t help but think of the worst- that the reason Mingyu was wasting his time on you had something to do with the Queen.
“Again, I could be wrong,” Yeosang sounded cautious. “Maybe it was a one-time thing and you don’t need to worry about it, but… you’re the Princess. You always have to be cautious, don’t you?”
“You’re right,” you nodded slowly. “It could be anything, but I have to be cautious. Thank you for letting me know, by the way,” you smiled at him and he pursed his lips, nodding.
“I’ve ruined the mood, haven’t I?” Yeosang said after a moment and you finally huffed, laughing. “You said you wanted to ask me something as well?”
“Oh, yeah, did I?” You laughed nervously and Yeosang frowned in confusion.
For the past two days, you had been meeting with your father who decided he would have both you and Prince Chan accompany him to the West, despite the continuous attempts of the Queen to somehow make him choose their son over you. You felt better since Chan would be there and you wouldn’t be alone with the King and the generals and whatever officials you were going to find there, but you had an idea-
“If I asked you to accompany me to the West, with the King and the Prince, two days from now… would you agree?”
Yeosang raised a brow. “Is there a specific reason you want me there?”
“Uh…” Was there? “Just… it won’t be as awkward with you there, I suppose. Chan has his own friends there and I know as much as he likes me, he doesn’t like me enough to call me a ‘friend’. Besides, you’re a great strategist, Yeosang. We could actually use some help there. You’ll of course be representing me if you decide to go, so the court members realise I don’t have allies myself-”
“You don’t need to explain all of that,” Yeosang laughed to himself, shaking his head at you. “Come on. You’re the Princess. All you had to say was ‘it’s my order’.”
“I would have added it in the end,” you muttered, slumping but he knew you wouldn’t.
“You’ve warmed up to me, huh? Just admit it- you don’t want to die of boredom there. I make you laugh, I keep you on your toes, I even let you take those naps when we should be studying-”
“Fine, yes, you’re mildly amusing. I won’t say I’d die of boredom without you, okay? Don’t think too highly of yourself-”
Yeosang leaned forward until he was inches away from your face, making you blink in surprise. “But I think you would,” he almost whispered and when you didn’t push him away or respond, he seemed to realise just what position he was in, drawing back smoothly. “Talking about boredom, is there something fun to do right now?”
“I have dice hidden here somewhere,” you jumped down, pretending to search under the stairs while calming your pounding heart and trying to ignore the knot in your stomach. “Here it is. Let’s play?”
—---------------------
You were finding it extremely hard to get Yeosang alone once you arrived at the town in the west of Eden, where the Westerners were going to have meetings with your court to try and resolve the political problems they had with the King’s policies. The reason the King, his children and a good part of his court went themselves was a sign of good gesture- that you all were willing to listen and resolve this peacefully, but this was also a warning- that you would be assessing the situation and taking appropriate and immediate measures according to it.
However, you were warmly welcomed by the dwellers, and a large amount of the first few days were spent partying. You were, of course, the Princess and with that title, you had to display a certain amount of elegance, which Yeosang made sure to roll his eyes at whenever he came into your vision. He also made a note of telling you “I can see how hard it is for you to hold back” which only made you restrain yourself with a smile since the public was watching.
However, Yeosang clearly hadn’t expected you to sneak out in the middle of the night, leaving Siyeon alone in the room and tiptoeing to Yeosang’s room, following Siyeon’s map that she had drawn on your hand after you had begged her to let you breathe. Your heart was rhythmically matching your excitement, but you paused before you knocked on Yeosang’s room-
“Are you sure you and Yeosang are just friends?” Siyeon had asked.
“Of course we’re just friends, what are you implying?” You frowned.
“You’re different when you talk about him,” Siyeon smiled knowingly, which only confused you further. “I’ve not seen that smile once before. Not even with Mingyu.”
“Get your head out of the gutter,” you had muttered and she had laughed it off, but now that you stood-
The door slid open and Yeosang couldn’t keep from mumbling a curse when he found you standing with a hand outstretched. “What are you doing at this ungodly hour, Princess? And outside my room? Finally decided to kill me in my sleep?”
“It’s not even midnight yet,” you rolled your eyes, making your way inside his room and Yeosang watched you, peeking outside to see if you had eyes before shutting the door. “I knew you would be awake. Are you busy?”
“Not really, no,” Yeosang sat down on the couch, ruffling his hair. “Was just about to sleep, as you can see,” he pointed at his pyjamas. “Is something up?”
“I thought we could… I don’t know. Sneak out and enjoy the festival. I know we decided not to go because of security measures, but I learnt from my very wise tutor-” you pointed with both hands at Yeosang and he groaned, “-that the art of disguise comes handy. So we’ll blend in tonight, you and I, as civilians. No one would recognise us anyway- not when we dress up all fancy and… voguish, like them, eh?”
You could tell Yeosang didn’t hate the idea because he was not kicking you out of his room. “You do realise what you’re saying, right? You didn’t drink, did you?”
“I’m perfectly sober, thank you,” you got up and unbuttoned your cloak, revealing a pair of red jewelled velvet tunic and pants, and you revealed your hair tied in a bun- a mess of braids and curls. You waved your matching red mask at him as well, laughing when he gaped at you. “I’m ready. Are you?”
After a few protests and you dragging Yeosang and throwing clothes at him after shuffling through his bag, earning snarky remarks and how you looked ‘overdressed’, you finally got Yeosang to change. He looked perfect in his black outfit with a jewelled jacket, and then you made him sit on the chair in front of the mirror so he would take care of his hair.
“Don’t make me comb it myself,” you scoffed. “I haven’t ever done even my own hair apart from a ponytail, just so you know.”
“Snobby little princess-”
“It’s because I naturally suck at it,” you slapped his head and he glared at you, wondering why he was even doing this.
“You know,” he started parting his hair to one side, shrugging because if he was going out anyway, he might as well look the best. “All you have to do is be yourself. People won’t recognise you even if you wear your crown over your head.”
“That’s insulting,” you leaned in the mirror, cleaning your slightly smudged lipstick. “But also, somehow good to know.”
Yeosang shook his head, finally done and you gave him an okay. “Now, how do we sneak out?”
“Leave that to me,” you smirked.
A few minutes later and one guard down after a random rock fell on his head (only knocking him out, you told Yeosang), you were in the brightly lit streets, the noise of the people and the music almost overwhelming, but even Yeosang was surprised how perfectly you two blended in- you had clearly planned this long ago. You stopped at a stall to get some cake and you slid down your mask, peeking around but no one recognised you- you felt safe.
“This is stupid, but I can’t say I’m not enjoying,” Yeosang took a bite of the cake. “I mean, when will I ever get the chance? The Princess of Eden in the streets with her replacement tutor, unrecognisable.”
“We’re friends,” you narrowed your eyes. “If you’re still calling yourself my tutor, go home, Yeosang.”
“I don’t know when the boundary blurred,” he pondered.
“Probably when you saved me in the forest,” you muttered.
“Ah, saved you, did I?” It was the first time you had admitted and you scoffed. “If we hadn’t met that day, would we be here right now?”
“Maybe,” you shrugged. “What do you think?”
Yeosang looked at you as he finished his cake and waited for you to finish yours before stepping forward and you almost jumped when his hands went behind your head to untie the cloth you had been using as a mask. He locked eyes with you. “Can I?”
You didn’t nod but he presumed to tie it around your neck like a bandana, and he rested his hands on your shoulders when he was done. “That’s better. You look beautiful.”
As if just realising what he had said, he abruptly drew back, clearing his throat. “Evil. I meant beautifully evil. Or evilly beautiful?”
You couldn’t help but laugh at that, smacking his arm. “You don’t have to be awkward about it, Yeosang. You don’t look too bad yourself.”
You were the last person to talk about being awkward when you stood there with a silly grin until someone asked you two to move. You took a deep breath. “Let’s go watch the games?”
You got the first row in the audience that stood to watch the fire show and you didn’t realise that you had been holding on to Yeosang’s arm when he guided you through the crowd, but he didn’t mind- he liked it when you squeezed it whenever you were surprised. At some point, Yeosang himself had stopped watching the show, instead watching how your face looked in the glow of the fire, how your eyes reflected your excitement which was contagious at this point, how your red plump lips parted and pursed. He was smiling faintly when you caught him staring at you.
None of you looked away. You raised a brow. “Bored?”
“Not at all,” he shook his head. “Just want to get some air after this ends.”
“Let’s go right now,” you told him and he insisted that you finish watching the show because according to him, you looked like a cat who had seen a mouse for the first time, but you only held his hand and dragged him, almost exiting when you met a pair of mimers.
“Ridiculous,” Yeosang laughed when they started mirroring your movements.
“That’s not how we look,” you pointed and they mirrored that as well, making you gape at them. “That’s a personal attack! Choose someone else from the crowd!”
Yeosang burst out laughing at that and the mimers continued to mirror your exasperated expressions and movements, until Yeosang grabbed your hand and started running away, the mimers mirroring even that and following you, making all of you laugh because this was unbelievable but fun. The two of you kept running even after you had lost them and just when you were about to stop, Yeosang spotted them and slid into a dark alley, turning you and making you stop against him as he rested against the wall, out of breath.
“They’re right outside,” he whispered, shaking his head as he laughed. “Don’t move.”
You nodded, aware of your hands on his chest and shoulder, aware of his hands holding your wrists loosely but not letting you go, and you rested your head against his chest, out of breath as well. “Tell me when they’re gone. Or should we give them a little scare?”
“I’ll tell you when they’re gone,” Yeosang said and you hummed in agreement, not daring to move but feeling glad when you felt his tense body relax against you. His hands slid down your arms but didn’t let go, and even when he saw the mimers leave the area, he didn’t tell you.
He wanted you all to himself just for a little longer.
And that realisation made him so utterly confused. He hadn’t intended to cross the line, yet… he knew you two weren’t friends at this point- at least he wasn’t, because he was falling.
But you still liked Mingyu, didn’t you? Even when he had told you about the Queen and Mingyu’s meeting, you met him twice after, and Yeosang helped you. You told him you wanted to feel him out and see what exactly he wanted so you could catch him in the act, but… he was starting to realise why he hated it when he saw Mingyu touch your face- that guy was clearly not sincere.
Were his own feelings sincere then, he wondered. Is that how you felt about Mingyu? Unsure but wanting?
“They’re gone,” Yeosang finally whispered and you took your head off after a moment, looking up at him and finding him incredibly close. You grinned and let go of him. “Well, that was an adventure right there.”
“That sure was,” Yeosang brushed his clothes and you walked back to the streets, just walking and chatting and grabbing more snacks until you both were very tired, which was when you decided to walk back, sneaking past the guards into Yeosang’s room which was thankfully on the ground floor.
Yeosang shut the window behind him and you secured your cloak, smiling at him and asking, “Tell me how tonight was. Tell me honestly.”
“Well, Princess,” Yeosang stepped in front of you, smirking and flicking your forehead. “It was the most fun I had in a good few years.”
“Really? You’re not lying?” You asked and he nodded, crossing at his heart. You smiled wide and slumped in relief. “Glad you don’t hate me.”
“I don’t hate you, why would you think that?” Yeosang’s voice was incredibly soft. “I like you. A lot. I like whatever we have, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I just hope you don’t forget all about me when you’re busy or when I have to go, y/n.”
Your heart did a somersault and you took a step towards him as well, almost closing the distance between you two. “This was the most fun I had too. In my life. Thank you, Yeosang. And I won’t forget you, ever. I hope you don’t if you go back.”
‘If’, you had said, Yeosang realised with a glimmer of hope. You didn’t want him to go back. It was up to him now. But he had to be sure about you first-
He didn’t expect you to lean in and kiss him on the cheek and then shyly look at you as you grinned. Oh, he wanted to cross the line so bad. “Thank you for tonight, Yeosang.”
Before he could respond, you scurried off, and he stood dumb for a few minutes until he smiled and sat in front of the mirror, taking off his accessories and looking at where you had kissed him-
Where the red smudge of lipstick welcomed him.
So that’s why you were grinning, he thought, laughing to himself as he wondered if he should just let the mark remain.
—-------------------
The situation in the West had been resolved and you made your way back, making the visit last for about a week and a half. A week after that night you spent with Yeosang at the festival. You had attended a meeting together where you got to see just what kind of a strategist Yeosang was, and he was one hell of a strategist- he managed to keep the political interests of both the parties in balance as he suggested ways to resolve the conflict, along with his seniors. He was applauded by the King himself and that made you giddy. It didn’t help that he looked incredibly hot when he was in operational mode, you told him.
“There’s something wrong with you,” Yeosang had made a face and you had only laughed.
“You know, my father approves of you. He even asked me if you’re my replacement tutor.”
“I should go and tell him how disrespectful my student is-”
And that ended with the usual bickering as well. In the few days you spent in the West after the festival, you only got to meet up with Yeosang once during the evening when you two were walking around, and Prince Chan had joined, which ended up making you the third-wheel. They surprisingly had much to talk about.
Your lessons with Yeosang were going to resume today. You had also just received a letter from Professor Seo which said that he would be returning in a week or two. You felt anxious for some reason- could you keep Yeosang all to yourself? Would that be selfish of you? After all, Yeosang’s family and friends weren’t in this town.
You went inside the library, finding it utterly quiet. You almost called out loud for Yeosang, but you saw him dozing off, sitting crossed legged on the floor with his head resting on his arms on the table. You smiled to yourself- what a sight he was. You tiptoed towards him, sitting in front of him across the table and waiting for a while- he was probably tired. You heard a muffled groan and watched him as he frowned in his sleep- was he having a nightmare?
“Yeosang?” You whispered, but he didn’t stir. You slid away from the table and went to his side, carefully pushing a few strands of his dark hair away from his face- he seemed to be caught in a dream-
You noticed the redness on his temple that you had spotted before too- you hadn’t asked him about it and the way he styled his hair, you couldn’t detect it unless you looked carefully, but it looked like it was a birthmark. You touched it lightly, smiling-
You couldn’t even let out a scream when he went for your neck making you fall flat against the floor and him on top of you with his dagger threatening to slit your throat.both of you were looking at each other in surprise with wide eyes and you patted his arm cautiously. “It’s me… Yeosang, it’s me.”
Yeosang came back and sighed deeply, drawing back and immediately apologising. “I don’t know what I was thinking, I have nothing to say.”
“It’s okay,” you frowned as you straightened your clothes, getting up to go back to your place. Yeosang, confused, got up as well. “Are you alright, Yeosang? Are you haunted?”
Yeosang snorted at that. “Actually, I’m not always like this. I was attacked on the night when we came back, in my room. I didn’t get who it was, but someone’s after me, which means… someone’s after you.”
“Oh, come on,” you shook your head. “It might be something you did. You’re not a saint, Yeosang dear.”
“Could be, but I’m betting it has something to do with you-” Yeosang stopped mid-sentence and pulled you by your arm into his chest as a vase fell and crashed on the floor, making you scream and clench onto his clothes.
“Wait here- someone’s definitely after you,” Yeosang said and before you could stop him, he went for what you figured was whoever he spotted. You took out your own dagger, waiting for him or whoever it was that dared attack you in the library, of all places.
However, the last person you expected to see was Mingyu, calling out your name before he stepped in your line of vision and you frowned. “I heard a crash and a scream, I was just passing by. Are you alright?”
“You were just passing by?” You almost spat but then shook your head. “I’m sorry- it’s just been surprise after surprise today. I’m overwhelmed. Did you perhaps spot someone else leaving?”
“Only Kang Yeosang,” he said, stepping towards you but stopping when you raised your hand.
“Do you know him?” You asked.
“He’s made quite a name for himself after the tour in the West,” he pointed out and you lowered your dagger. “He’s your replacement tutor, is he not?”
“That he is,” you nodded. “He’ll be back any minute.”
“Can I see you tonight?” Mingyu asked, shooting a playful smile in your direction.
“If you tell me why you’ve been meeting up with the Queen, sure, I can see you tonight,” you countered. You refused to believe him passing by was a coincidence- not after you’ve been suspecting him for so long.
However, Mingyu clearly didn’t like what you were implying. “Do you think I’m a spy or something? That’s a low blow.”
“What else am I supposed to think, Mingyu?” You countered. “You’ve been meeting up with her- I saw you myself. And you didn’t bother to tell me? A simple explanation would have done. You could have lied and I would have believed you. But you didn’t even tell me. You never tell me anything. You only call me when-”
“And what do you tell me about yourself, Princess?” Mingyu walked towards you.
“I tell you enough,” you seethed. “I risk meeting you and tell you enough. You have no idea what the consequences would be if I got caught meeting you.”
“Well, no one would know unless you spill,” he stopped in front of you. “Have you?”
“I just- I can’t continue meeting you like this forever, you know it,” you sighed. “And you’re still not telling me why you met her.”
“I tell you enough as well,” he countered. You couldn’t believe him. You were about to walk away but he caught your wrist. “Come on. Don’t ruin this-”
“Ruin what, Mingyu? What are we?” You locked eyes with him, surprisingly relieved when you saw no signs of longing in them. “We never address that though, do we?”
“Well, what are you with Yeosang then?” He countered and you raised a brow. “I’ve seen you both. He’s not your tutor-”
“He’s my friend,” you sneered, trying to break away your wrist from him but he wouldn’t let go. “And let go of me. You’re hurting me.”
“Friend?” He laughed. “Friends don’t look at each other the way I’ve seen you-”
“I suggest you let go of her right now, Mingyu,” Yeosang’s voice boomed as he walked to the two of you. “Let go of the Princess.”
Mingyu scoffed at him. “No, what do you two even do in here? I’m pretty sure it’s not just studying-”
The crack of the slap on his left cheek was the most satisfying sound you ever heard out of him, and you didn’t regret it, even when he looked betrayed and surprised. “Who do you think I am? You’re the first person I’ve been with, Mingyu, and you’re the only one. I can’t believe you think so lowly about me. I guess I should have thought that about you too,” you rubbed your wrist- he had finally let go due to the initial shock. “Meet me tomorrow night at the same place. We’ll end this- only after you tell me what you’re up to with the Queen. And don’t bother lying- I know what you’re up to. I only need to see if you’ll tell me the truth or not.”
Mingyu huffed, laughing in what you could only presume was disbelief. “I think we should. We need to think with clear minds, huh?” He looked at Yeosang and left the room, leaving you glaring at his passing figure. Yeosang stifled his smile as he stood next to you. “Well… that was one hell of a slap.”
“Shut up, Yeosang,” you muttered but smiled, looking at him. “I should have done that earlier. I don’t know what took me so long.”
“Do you really know what he’s up to?” Yeosang patted your back, urging you to settle down before sitting in front of you.
“I don’t, actually, but it doesn’t matter. I don’t want to continue whatever it is we had. It was only physical, and that’s… it makes me shameful to think of it.”
Yeosang looked proud of you though, especially when he said, “I don’t think I need to be your tutor anymore. You’ve learnt all you need to- at least about strategy and offence.”
You laughed at that. “Have I? You still have to teach me the damned nonsense the old scholars left for us that’s not even relevant-”
“Don’t disrespect your ancestors,” he shook his head, grinning.
—------------------
When Mingyu entered the room, you didn’t get up this time. He didn’t approach you either, simply sat down next to you.
“I’m sorry for slapping you earlier- I could’ve dealt with that differently,” you told him. You were sorry- that wasn’t a lie.
“I deserved that,” Mingyu looked at you and you both shared a laugh. “I was being an asshole.”
“Glad you realise that,” you shook your head. “So?”
“The Queen… the first time that she called me, she only wanted to know who my father was- apparently, he used to do some of the Queen’s private tasks, so she thought she could trust me as well. I didn’t realise what she was on to until the second time, when she casually asked me if I was interested in you.”
“Wow, she’s still digging for something to bring me down,” you made an impressed face. “What did you tell her?”
“I told her the truth- that I admire you as the Princess. That’s exactly what I said. Not a lie, but not the whole truth either,” he winked.
“That’s smart, I’ll give you that,” you nodded. “How did she respond to that?”
“She told me I should meet up with you, that you might be interested in me as well. Honestly, I was confused- I didn’t know if it was a test or some twisted game where she wants us to get caught because it’s no secret that she hates you. So I just told her I’ll look for a chance. Now she just asks me if I made some progress.”
“I wonder what’s going on in her head,” you sighed. “You should have told me, Mingyu.”
“I know,” he admitted. “I should have, but honestly… I’m not interested in you that way- at least not yet.”
“Neither am I,” you admitted. “We should end it, though. There’s no use continuing whatever we had, but I hope we can part on good terms, and possibly be allies in the future. You’re smart, Mingyu. I hope you won’t use our relationship to bring me down one day- I’d rather you be my ally, my friend.”
“Now that’s one tempting offer,” he laughed, tucking your hair behind your ear. “No hard feelings?”
“None,” you nodded. “Unless you pull something, in which case you can expect not to wake up after you sleep,” you smiled sweetly at him and he shook his head, raising his hands in surrender. “Also, yesterday… were you really passing by the library?”
“Ah, about that,” Mingyu straightened, recalling the detail he needed to tell you. “I did spot someone suspicious- dressed like a guard- around the library, so yes, I was just passing by but made a detour because I thought I saw something.”
“Who do you think could be behind it?” You wondered.
“Could be anyone at this point, but maybe start from the people closest around you,” Mingyu said. “Should I look into it?”
“Will you?” You asked and he nodded. You thanked him- that really was a kind offer, perhaps to make up for his behaviour.
After that meeting, you walked to your secret place just to have some alone time and think things through. You had just been in your room, and Siyeon had been beyond relieved after she heard that you broke things with Mingyu.
“I’m just glad I don’t have to be the watchdog anymore, you know?” She told you as she prepared you for bed, about to go and bring your tea when you told her you wanted to get some air first. She let you go willingly this time.
But when you sneaked in through the vines around the fence, the last person you expected to see was Yeosang. What was more surprising were the empty bottles around him- he was drinking.
He never drinked this much, from what he had told you. You whistled at the sight and went to sit next to him, shaking your head at his flushed cheeks. “You need to stop before I wake you up by pushing you in the pond.”
“What are you doing here?” He sounded surprisingly sober.
“What are you doing here? Why are you drinking?”
“Just needed to stop thinking for a few moments,” he admitted, offering you a bottle. You took a sip and told him you weren’t going to drink more. “Boomer. Look at the moon- it’s a wonderful sight. That calls for a few drinks as we admire the sight, no?”
“Yep, you’re drunk,” you folded your arms. “What’s keeping you up at nights, Yeosang?”
He was silent for a few moments, and you almost thought he faded into unconsciousness when he mumbled something. You frowned, “What was that?”
“You,” he said, and your heart sank. “You. You keep me up at nights. You don’t let me sleep.”
“Hmm, really?” You pursed your lips, stifling your smile. “And what exactly about me?”
He glanced at you and it was your turn to get flushed- he had rarely ever looked at you that way, but whenever he did… it drove you crazy. “I wish I hadn’t met you, y/n.”
Your heart broke like never before- it was a sharp blow. You managed to ask why.
“I’m not worthy of you. I cannot be with you. But I think I want to be with you. But… you don’t want me. So I wish I hadn’t met you- at least that day in the forest. Maybe if we hadn’t become friends-”
“What are you saying?” You shook your head. “What’s this bullshit about being worthy? I’m not some prized possession you need to win.”
“Oh, but you are,” he smiled, looking down. “You’re… wonderful. You’re brilliant. I’m nothing.”
“God, if you were sober right now, you would be saying the opposite. And that’s making me confused,” you tugged at his sleeve, making him look at you. “Are you joking right now? Do you like me or something? Because I’ve been the one afraid to take that step-”
Yeosang leaned in and kissed your cheek, making you pause. He drew back slowly. “That night… I wanted to keep you all night. I wanted you so bad.”
“Yeosang,” you whispered, “You can have me. You’ve had me long ago.”
“Is that so?” He traced your hairline, tucking your hair behind your ear, and you couldn’t help but shiver. You couldn’t help but compare- Mingyu had done this so many times, yet this single action had never made you a puddle, a mess like you are now.
Yeosang continued to trace the outlines of your face. “I don’t want to let you go,” he whispered, “Are you real, or am I hallucinating? Am I too drunk?”
“I think you are drunk, but I’m real,” you managed to say, locking eyes with him.
“Even if you’re not…” he put his fingers under your chin and tilted your face up, gazing at your parted lips. You stifled a groan- his touch alone was making you go crazy.
And when he leaned in and finally pecked your lips, holding on to his shirt was all you could do to keep from falling down. As if realising you were real, he pecked your lips again, and again, until you parted your lips and kissed him back, making him cup your face and bring you closer as he kissed you like a man deprived of air, tongue colliding and swallowing each other’s moans. You had never felt like this, feeling his touch in every cell in your body, feeling the kiss as if he was caressing every part of you.
When he drew back, you rested your head against his, and you wanted more, you wanted to kiss him all night, but he dozed off and you couldn’t help but laugh. You let him rest his head on your lap, caressing his soft hair and running your fingers through them, smiling because he looked like a cat. After you almost fell asleep yourself, you decided to leave him here- he needed to face the consequences of his actions.
But the next day, when he sat in front of you teaching you about one of your ancestor’s history, you weren’t listening- just watching him with a smirk. He seemed to be annoyed at that when he shut the book and glared at you.
“What’s so funny?”
“You look like you had one too many drinks last night,” you told him. “Don’t tell me you don’t remember.”
He didn’t.
“I remember. I never forget when I drink,” he said haughtily.
“Is that so?” You made an impressed face. “Do you, perhaps, remember meeting me last night?” He frowned in confusion and you scoffed. “Maybe you shouldn’t think too highly of yourself, Yeosang.”
“You came last night? There?” He groaned loudly, hiding his face. “I hope I didn’t do something embarrassing.”
“Nothing at all,” you shook your head. “Just did this weird dance and twirled around-”
“Now that’s a lie,” he declared and you laughed.
“If you do recall the events of last night, come find me,” you winked at him, opening the book back and leaving him confused.
—-------------------
A few days had passed when the King called you in his study to have a private conversation with you. You went after having breakfast and had tea with your father, chatting about the weather and Chan’s silly pranks when he steered the topic to what he had called you for.
“I want you to participate in court matters regularly as soon as you’re ready,” he sipped on his tea- basically telling you he was going to make it public that you were his choice.
“And what does the Queen say about this?” You asked, taking the umpteenth cookie.
“What she says doesn’t matter,” he told you.
“I think it does, a little,” you began. “She’s been sending some people after me- I don’t know if she wants to simply hurt me or kill me, but she’s out for me. I thought I should tell you.”
Your father stopped mid-air, bringing his cup back to the table. “Are you sure?”
“I am,” you nodded. “I have an ally in the court, you see. He personally caught and interrogated the guard she used. She made it a bit too obvious- it was one of her personal guards. Caught in the act.”
You weren’t lying- Mingyu had done exactly that. You had been practising archery when he sent an arrow for you- and if he had hit, all suspicion would have gone to Yeosang. However, Mingyu had been following him and knocked the guard out, and by luck, you had narrowly escaped from the arrow.
“I don’t know what to do about her,” your father rubbed his eyes. “It would’ve been one thing if Chan himself was interested in the throne, but… he’s the least interested.”
“And so am I, but father… you know there’s another reason you didn’t groom Chan like you groomed me. You’re afraid of what the Queen would do to you. After all… She was royalty too, before you became your wife. She owns a lot of land, and a good majority would support her if she decided to do something about you.”
“I don’t know why I ever agreed to marry her,” he sighed.
“Doesn’t matter, but… you don’t need to do anything about what the Queen did to me. She’s been after me all my life- I’ll deal with her myself. It would be wiser if you don’t interfere. She’ll never admit she was behind it anyway.”
“I should warn her though,” he said. “You’re my daughter. I don’t want anyone hurting you. Even if she gets Chan to inherit the throne, she’ll never let you stay here.”
“There’s always going to be someone after us, father,” you pointed out. “We’ll never feel safe. That’s the price we pay.”
The two of you concluded the discussion on the terms that you’ll both confront the Queen and ask her to back off, and that both you and Chan would sit in the court matters regularly, but you would eventually inherit the throne unless Chan is interested, in which case the King or the court themselves would cast their votes. However, that time would hopefully be after a good while. You wished your father lived long and healthy so you wouldn’t have to inherit the throne so young.
After leaving, you went to the library for your lesson with Yeosang, who had been acting a bit suspiciously himself the past few days. You didn’t know if it was because he recalled what happened that night, if he even believed, or if he regretted that, but you weren’t going to bring it up. Professor Seo was arriving in three days, and each passing day was making you anxious because with each passing day, you only became sure that you wanted no one else but Yeosang by your side. For the rest of your life. If he would return the feelings- you hoped he did, because you weren’t sure you could ever love someone like you had begun to love him.
Love- you never thought you’d get to experience that. Even as friends, there was love between you two, the kind that friends had in the books you read, where they looked out for each other and knew each other’s secrets, their likes and dislikes, and such. But the line between friends and more… it was always a little blurred between you two.
You found Yeosang waiting for you not at the usual spot but at the window. He looked at you with a mischievous smile and you raised a brow. He took a deep breath. “Do you want to go to the mountains? A little trip?”
You smiled slowly. “What took you so long! I’m ready.”
It was a thing between you two- sneaking out disguised as random civilians. You borrowed one of Siyeon’s pretty dresses (she always had prettier dresses than you while you wore ugly uniforms for the court) and hid most of yourself in a cloak, walking to the foothills of the mountain which was fairly near, just a long walk that passed by in a blink because Yeosang was suddenly feeling nostalgic and told you about the time he was a kid and climbed all the way to the top of the mountain as a challenge. When you finally started to climb, Yeosang held your hand, surprising you but you let him guide you all the way up until you asked for a break.
“This is a nice spot,” Yeosang stood near the edge of the rock and peeked down. “This shall do.”
“I’m glad,” you huffed as you sat down, Yeosang joining you. “I thought my legs were going to break.”
“I think we should ditch history and start working on your stamina,” Yeosang narrowed his eyes. “Imagine someone comes after you and you give up because you got tired after running a little distance.”
“I’m sorry but no one’s going to chase me up the mountain, I can run just fine,” you said and he laughed. You drank water from your bottle and he sighed, looking up at the cloudy sky.
“I told father about the Queen, by the way,” you said after a moment. “I thought you should know so you don’t worry your ass off.”
“What makes you think I worried at all? It’s a regret the arrow didn’t strike-”
“Hey!” You smacked his arm, pouting at him. “You’re so strange, Yeosang. You say one thing and mean another.”
“Oh? And what do I mean when I say I wished the arrow had hit you?” He turned towards you, appearing very interested.
“Well, how about ‘oh, I wish I was there and could have taken the arrow for you’. Okay, I admit that was too much,” you sulked when he laughed out loud at that, very sarcastically. “You hate me, that’s fine.”
Yeosang scoffed. “You know what I would have done if I was there?” When you didn’t answer, he put a hand on yours, caressing it. “I would have shot an arrow back, not caring who it was. If it had been the Queen, the Prince or even the King… I would have shot them.”
You were about to smack him again for teasing you but when you saw how serious he was and his gaze- the same gaze you dreaded but wished to see again and again forever- it made you pause. “You’re serious?”
“I am,” he admitted. “And it scares me because I’m the type who weighs all the pros and cons before striking, as you already know.”
You scanned him for a few moments. “Do you finally remember what happened that night?”
Yeosang answered by sliding closer and capturing your lips in an eager kiss, smiling into it when you immediately responded with a surprised moan, clenching his shirt in your hands as he continued to slide closer and kissing you without a break until you two were out of breath. You locked eyes with him, laughing in disbelief. “You’re gonna tell me now that you’re sober?”
“Am I?” He made a confused face and you pushed him back, laughing again but he caught your hands in his.
“Well, Princess y/n,” he began, smiling cheekily, making you bite your lips because gosh, he was criminally handsome. A walking sculpture- Siyeon had made the right observation. “I may have developed a… liking towards you.”
“That’s it?” You frowned, pushing him away properly this time, making him laugh until he couldn’t breathe. “Come back when you’re sure.”
“Okay, okay, hear me out,” he took both your hands in his. “I don’t want to go back, y/n. If you’ll have me… I want to be yours. I love you more than I thought I did. I don’t know how it happened, but it did. I fell for you before even realising- wait, you’re not taking this seriously!”
You let out the laugh you had been stifling. “I’m just in disbelief, because I love you and I thought you hated me and made a mistake that night or something. Okay, not hated me, but didn’t like me like that or something. But you’re telling me that…”
“That I love you,” he nodded, grinning. “And I don’t know what to do.”
“Well, you don’t need to do anything, just… stay and we’ll figure out, huh? But… stay at your own risk because I will not let you go if you stay-”
He shut you up by kissing you again, this time with a force that had you arching back until you were flat against the grass. You broke apart, “You have a habit of not letting me complete my sentences.”
“You love it, don’t you?” He caressed your face and you felt knots in your stomach. “What do you want me to do, then?”
“Kiss me until I can’t speak anymore?” You suggested and he started by peppering kisses all over your face, making you giggle. Then he kissed you ever so slowly, as if he had all the time in the world, making you melt into a puddle. He earned quite a few moans with the way he kissed alone, and when he started at your neck, it was the end of you- especially when he started nibbling at your sweet spot, sucking and licking and leaving a mark that he looked at proudly.
“Tell me you’re mine,” he whispered, caressing your cheek.
“I’m yours,” you nodded. “Tell me you won’t go.”
“I’ll stay,” he promised, sealing it with another kiss.
“Even if I have to inherit the throne?” You asked.
“I’ll be honoured to be by your side then,” he kissed your forehead. “If… if you would have me.”
“Well, you’re one hell of a strategist, and an archer- you shot that arrow at my heart-”
“Come on, you can do better than that,” he shook with laughter at your cheesy line and you pouted.
“No, I can’t,” you said. “But yeah. I’d be honoured to have a mind like you beside me. And a body and a face like yours to look at for the rest of my life, because honestly, you’re hot-”
“Ah, here we go,” he shut his eyes, basking in the compliments. “Carry on.”
You scoffed. “That’s all, Yeosang dear.”
He glared at you, lying beside you. “Can I take back everything I just said?”
“Yeosang!” You turned to slap his arm, getting half on top of him and grinning at your position, letting his hands on your waist guide you up on him. You spent a good few moments admiring him before you kissed him.
“To always and forever,” you said when you broke apart.
“To always and forever,” he nodded, about to bring you in again when you interrupted.
“What are we going to do about Professor Seo? Maybe I should ask him to retire,” you pondered.
“Can you not talk about other people when you’re on top of me?” Yeosang commented and you poked your tongue in your cheek, realising exactly the position you were in- practically straddling him.
“As you wish,” you let him kiss you senseless after that.
It was sweet, and it made your heart feel alive for the first time. You wished in that moment to have a forever and always with him. You would have no one else.
And weirdly, you were glad Mingyu had called you in the forest that day. How fate had worked for you two- meeting as strangers and meeting officially in the palace, finding an unexpected friendship and love along the way. Unexpected but welcomed.
For the first time, you felt safe too, when you lay in his arms. Even though you had told your father earlier that you didn’t have the luxury of feeling safe, you decided to one day tell him that you had found your home- the person that made you feel utterly safe.

💭 SCENARIO : 001 !
when you first grabbed for his hand, he had to do a double-take - he didn't think you'd grab for him so casually and it made his head spin a bit. he'd drag his thumb across your knuckles soothingly, asking you if you were okay or if you just wanted to hold his hand (he'd get so bashful if the answer was the latter).
seonghwa. mingi. jongho.
💭 SCENARIO : 002 !
you were sitting on the couch when your temple met the top of his shoulder, the crown of your head burying into his neck softly. without hesitation, he'd lay his head atop yours, even slouching down a bit more to make sure you were comfortable. wrapping his arm around your waist after so you knew you were always more than welcome to be so close to him.
yunho. san. wooyoung.
💭 SCENARIO : 003 !
freezes up a bit when you wrap your arms around him from behind. tries soooo hard to act unaffected (he's stumbling over his words). slowly gets used to the proximity as you begin to sway back and forth with him. finds himself turning around to hug you properly before he even finishes his task.

kang yeosang is one infuriating individual. for one, there is no way anyone can be so praised and well-liked by literally everyone. not a day goes by where you don’t wonder how his small smiles and quiet attitude could bewitch every last person he talked to. not when he would not bother to say hi in passing to you specifically, or resolve to small nods and monosyllables when talking. to you.
it seems that you are the problem.
you and him work volunteer shifts at the same shelter. only, he deals with cats while you deal with dogs so it wasn’t like you’d see each other that often, but it was often enough to know he doesn’t like you.
not enough to say hi, engage in any sort of coversation or, least of all, help out if needed.
until christmas.
the shelter was decked out, you spent a whole afternoon helping out with decorations, along with yunho and yena, two other volunteers.
and yeosang.
the man almost laughed his ass off watching you balance on a ladder in the most uncoordinated way possible to avoid falling. arms flailing around and everything.
he just stood there, an ornament in his hands, with his stupidly cute smile and watched.
you sigh, scratching behind the ear of the latest rescue dog that was brought in. you like baxter, he is chill and his black, shiny fur does not show signs of him having had to live out in the streets all on his own for weeks anymore. you like him best because it looks like he is listening when you ramble on, in disbelief of the rudeness showcased, about yeosang.
just then, a call of your name sounds in the air, the voice coming from the front desk of the shelter.
“see you later,” you leave behind baxter’s toy, leaving him with one last pat on the head, and make your way to the front where hongjoong had called for you.
you smile upon entering the reception area as it had been a joint decorating effort between you, yunho and yena. the result was looking very much like an elementary school christmas project, but you enjoy the general vibe. the senior rescuer currently behind the counter, looking rather preoccupied with a few papers, however, had just shook his head dejectedly upon seeing the final result.
“i’m sorry to be doing this, but could you take the christmas day shift?” he looks apologetic as he asks, rushing to explain. “it’d only be a half day, I promise that by one you can leave, we’ve got the staff taking care of the other shifts and the morning one’s the only one left uncovered-”
“no worries,” you interrupt his rambling. “i’ll be there.”
hongjoong smiles, looking relieved only for a second, before his face betrays further worrying.
“what is it?”
“nothing, i,” he sighs, shoulders sagging upon seeing the inquisitive look on your face. “yeosang will be working the same shift.”
defeat. dejection. betrayed trust. you groan dramatically, barely hearing hongjoong say that you’d already agreed and it would not be that bad.
surely it’d make for an interesting christmas.
when you arrive on christmas morning, the night shift staff gives you a tired nod and you offer him a smile in return, quickly wishing him happy holidays.
you waste no time in doing the rounds, giving all the cute doggos their breakfast.
while going over the duty checklist left from the night shift staff you hear the bell jingle in the front and roll your eyes.
when you finally decide to go up front it takes a couple of minutes before yeosang finally comes into view.
decked out in his funniest ugly sweater it reads “here comes santa paws” and has a cat wearing a christmas hat on it and with his long hair tucked behind his ears, he’s coming up to you with an awkward air about him.
you squint your eyes in suspicion.
“merry christmas,”
you’re floored, shocked, gaping like a fish looking up at your co-worker who for the first time ever has spoken to you first.
“cookie?” he produces a tupperware from behind his back, carefully removing the lid to reveal the most crooked, ill-decorated christmas cookies you’ve ever seen. some look slightly burned. a gingerbread man has three eyes.
you’re still gaping, not in the slightest understanding how it's possible that he’s spoken to you first, and also not noticing how ever so slowly a blush starts to creep up on his cheeks.
maybe you’re hallucinating, but it snaps you out of your trance.
you quickly reach for the gingerbread man with three eyes.
“thanks,” you mumble, giving him a small smile. “merry christmas.”
yeosang nods, closing the tupperware and disappearing without a word.
so you’re left there, cookie in hand, not knowing what to do with this.
you stay put, eating your cookie, until you hear a loud bang.
you rush to the source of it, finding a very flustered yeosang surrounded by cat litter. at least it’s clean.
you hold in your laughter, seeing him stand there, look around and try to come up with a plan.
“a little help?” you pretend to wipe away tears, facing his deadpan expression.
“you would’ve let me fall from a ladder,”
“you would’ve survived,”
you scoff, turning around to grab the broom and toss it his way. Yeosang catches it, just barely.
“really?”
“you scared my dogs.”
with that, you leave him to his mess, going to comfort and play a little bit with the shaken up puppies.
it’s not until a little later that you show up at the front desk again, noticing yeosang is already sitting there, typing away on the computer.
he’s also got the phone pressed to his ear, helping out someone on the line with cat duties, speaking with his honey voice and a small smile on his face.
it’s almost mesmerizing seeing him wear an expression that’s not his usual blank stare he holds up around you.
“if you’re done staring, we’ve got hongjoong’s checklist to go through,”
just like that, you feel like a deer caught in headlights, heat pervading your face.
“sure,” you shrug, going over to him to take a look at it, trying not to stare at his smug pout.
deep down, very deep down, you think about kissing it away.
if he weren’t so unbearable. but he is. so.
the checklist read “lobby Ikea chairs”
you both looked at each other, confused, until you noticed the boxes hidden behind the counter.
there was a post-it on it that read: “good luck! -HJ”
simply infuriating. you’d lost count of all the times you had to resist the urge to roll your eyes or drop everything and go back to your dogs.
there was no trace of the cold, odd yeosang you were used to.
he’d casually sat down on the spot where you were assembling the Ikea chairs, picked up the instruction manual and waited for you to hand him the screwdriver. bewildered, you had.
that was about two hours ago, before trying to follow instructions had gone to your heads, when it was only extremely awkward and quiet while he read the manual and you tried your best to sneak glances at him. to figure out what possibly could have been going through his head, of course.
now you were busy trying to one up each other in an undeclared war of who is the best handyman, clearly having lost the main aim: building the damned chairs.
“you were supposed to put in the screw first and then the little wooden thingy.”
“does it matter?”
“does your chair look structurally sound?”
“listen, if we start over-” pinching the bridge of his nose and scrunching his eyes closed with a sigh, you stop him before he could finish his sentence.
“like hell we are, it took us two hours just to get to this.”
“exactly,” his deadpan tone leaves you no choice but to sigh.
“fine,” you give in.
you were going to kill hongjoong.
because it took you only two hours to realize all it took for yeosang to distract you were his hands working on assembling furniture, his voice asking you to pass him stuff and his silence.
if you hated it before, now you appreciated the quiet moments where all you could hear was the faint music coming from the radio and the occasional bark or meow that prompted one of you to stand up and go check on your animals.
of course it was because you didn’t have to hear his disdainful reprimanding, not at all because it gave you the chance to throw glances at him and how a few strands of hair escaped the clips pinning it back and framing his face very nicely. no, not at all. you still couldn’t stand him. mhmh.
once you finally finish building the chairs, he helps you set them up in exchange for the older ones, now piled up in the storage room.
it’s almost second nature for you to hold up your fist for him to bump.
it’s just a thing you do all the time with your friends but now you’re standing there awkwardly, fist mid air, yeosang staring at you very lost, eyes going back and forth from your face to your hand and of course now he’s not going to want to see your face ever again and you feel embarrassment slowly and steadily creeping in the more you stand there until
he fist-bumps back
a little puzzled, seemingly asking if he’s done the right thing with one look, before dropping his hand and clearing his voice
you do the same
“gotta go see the dogs,”
“yeah, no, me too… i mean, the cats, yeah, so-”
he turns around and speeds away.
you follow him.
“so how’re the cats?”
yeosang jumps on his spot, almost dropping the little mouse toy he was about to throw for a kitty to catch.
“sleeping, mostly,” he shrugs. “how’re the dogs?”
you motion for him to follow and, surprisingly, he does.
immediately, he greets the ones that are up or go up to him with a smile on his face that you’ve never seen.
it shines brighter than the sun and you find yourself smiling as well, seeing him crouch down and pat dogs left and right.
then you get a grip, not for long
it leaves you pleasantly surprised how he follows while you introduce him to every dog, how he listens while you explain why they’re there, their stories, their backgrounds
but then, while you try to get some of the dogs to play with you so he could finish the round of greetings, he reaches the puppies’ enclosure and enters it to sit among them
and while he tries to play catch with a couple, one makes his way into his arms
and when he looks down at the pup, he’s wearing the most adoring expression
like a kid seeing snow for the first time
it’s wondrous and starry and happy
and you’re staring as he softly pats the puppy’s head and coos at it
“what’s his name?”
you almost don’t answer, too focused on the scene unfolding and having trouble locating the information he’s asked for in your brain
“i don’t think he has one,” you mumble, patting baxter’s head
“sleepy,” he looks down at the puppy. “cause he’s asleep while everyone wants to play, you know?”
you just nod with a smile, or at least you hope it is because what the fuck
why are you losing your mind over yeosang cradling a sleeping puppy?
why is your brain recognizing just now that your stomach’s doing cartwheels? why do you want to look away but also keep staring?
“what’s this?” you think he’s speaking to himself, but you still catch the words leaving his mouth as he enquires the toy another puppy has just brought him
then yeosang looks up at you, eyes wide as saucers, and your heart drops for being caught staring
he doesn’t say a thing, but looks down prompting you to do the same
it’s the mistletoe chew toy
yunho’s brilliant idea of getting the dogs christmas themed toys
yeosang looks away throwing it
“yunho,” you start, catching your coworker’s attention. “yunho’s idea, to get them those.”
you offer him a pained smile as he nods, scratching his head.
“seonghwa too, for the cats…”
“ah, really?”
“yeah…”
you want to bash your head into the wall
but the phone saves you, so you dash to the front, escaping the burning flames of awkwardness
it turns out to be a family wanting to adopt as a christmas present for their kids
so you say that yes, you’re open and yes they can come in whenever
when they do, yeosang has re-emerged and stands beside you, silent like always
this time around, though, you fear he’ll hear your heart beating out of your chest at the proximity
why’s he so close?
you almost jump to greet the happy family of four when they walk in to the sound of let it snow coming from the radio
“we were afraid it wasn’t going to stop!” the dad says, brushing off some snow from his hat
turns out they’d like to adopt a dog
it surprises you that yeosang follows when you lead the family in but you try to pay him no mind
the kids seem to be enamored with every dog they see, their parents giving them free reign
they’re still very polite and don’t cause much ruckus or yell too loud, which you’re grateful for
“could you tell us more about him?”
you’re about to turn to answer the question, if it weren’t that yeosang’s already at it
he’s introducing the kids to baxter
“he’s been here for a while, he’s very fond of our y/n and his favorite snack is carrots. he doesn’t like loud noises all that much. his past owners left him here because they could no longer take care of him, but he’s looking to find a new home,” he speaks as if he’s always been taking care of him, like he hadn’t just learned all that stuff half an hour ago
and he has his smile on, the one who could charm and warm up even the coldest of hearts
except one detail
you didn’t notice the little girl facing the puppies enclosure
until you hear her go “that one’s sleeping!”
but you can’t tear your eyes away from yeosang and his can’t help but hear his soft giggle as he says “his name’s sleepy”
yeah you want to punch a wall just about now
though you have to snap out of it quick
because you’re now letting this nice family adopt baxter and can’t fuck up the procedure or hongjoong will have your head
“how’d you know?” you ask, a little melancholic but over the moon to finally see your baxter go to a family worthy of him, as you both watch the car pull out of the parking lot.
“know what?” when yeosang turns to look at you, it’s with a shadow of a smile and curious eyes, an expression you’ve rarely ever seen directed your way
you swallow hard before speaking next
“that baxter’s fond of me”
his eyes light up in recognition
yeosang swore no soul shall ever know of this
but now he feels his resolution coming apart under your waiting eyes
because truth is, he’s noticed
he notices everything about you
from how you walk in dragging your feet when you have an early morning shift, relying on your cup of coffee, to how you laugh loudly at yunho’s jokes, always get your favorite snack from the vending machines at just about the same time he goes to get his melon pan he does wait for you to be done before going up to the machines himself
and how deeply you care for the dogs and how you seem to have a soft spot for baxter
maybe he’s even heard you once or twice rambling on and on to him about how you don’t get why he doesn’t like you
truth is, he sees you, and he likes you
so much
too much
he’s afraid of doing the wrong thing, say the wrong thing and make you hate him
but apparently his plan had backfired immensely
that’s why he insisted hongjoong gave him and not seonghwa the christmas shift
he even baked stupid cookies to give you
“ah, well…” yeosang has no idea how to get out of this one. “you just seemed to like him a lot from the way you spoke about him”
you hum, not really convinced
yeosang notices though, just as he notices the car of the afternoon staff pull in under the snowfall to free you of your volunteering duties
it’s not long before the shift’s over and he’s not going to see you until after the holidays
so, as you part ways to say goodbye to the pets and grab your coats, he musters up some courage
under the snowfall, he calls your name
when you turn around his dark hair is lightly dusted with snowflakes, only making him look more ethereal, and his eyes are determined
you don’t know what’s up with you today and why suddenly he’s making you feel like a teenager dealing with their first crush under his gaze
“yes?”
he comes closer, much more than he’s ever been, so close that you’re frozen on the spot
“just wanted to let you know that you can redeem your mistletoe kiss whenever you want to”
there’s a smugness in his voice, in his pouty smirk and a sense of accomplishment shining clear in his honey eyes
have they always been this mesmerizing?
his words and his warmth leave you breathless for just a beat too long, until your eyes fall on his lips
when you look back into his eyes, his are already looking at you, waiting
“alright,” you mutter lowly, pecking his lips once, testing the waters
he places another peck on your lips and, before you know, you’re kissing him
it feels exhilarating, and soft, so soft, just like his lips. just like the hand that’s come up to cup your cheek, bringing you closer, deepening the kiss.
when you come up for air you giggle, yeosang following suit
“may i also interest you in a coffee?” he asks, hand still on your cheek, gently brushing away snowflakes before they melt. you smile.
“i thought you hated me,” it almost sounds like a question and your brow furrows when he clicks his tongue.
“have you ever heard about the concept of quiet, introverted people who feel highly intimidated by awesome, funny, pretty people?”
you laugh, finally presented with the answer to the question that most replayed in your head
“take me on a date, hilarious, quiet, handsome guy”
he blushes and you know he’ll blame it on the cold, but only brushes his nose against yours
and to think you thought he couldn’t stand you mere hours ago
now he’s here, making your heart melt like snow upon touching his perfect skin

The sweet aroma of flowers filled your senses as you spun around in your desk chair, taking in the atmosphere. You were sure there wasn’t a day in your life you’d felt happier. Maybe you had exaggerated a bit when you said that to your friend Wooyoung this morning during one of your usual face time sessions, but you knew there was a pinch of truth.
Last week that would’ve been a distant silly childhood dream, but luck was on your side. You had tried your best, day and night, to make this a reality, and as usual - hard work had paid off. Younger you would’ve freaked out if they could see you now - sitting behind the counter of your own flower shop.
You had always loved flowers - the way each type had its distinguishable scent, vibrant colours, unique forms, and, above all - their meaning. What had been just a quick exploration of your grandmother’s garden when you were ten turned out to be the reason for your obsession.
“Yellow tulips are my favourite,” the older woman had said, swiping away the sweat formed under the brim of her broad straw hat as you walked around her most prized possession. You asked her curiously why, crouched down to take in their sweet fragrance. “Their meaning reminds me of you - like them, you’re my little sunshine and happiness.”
The memory filled your heart with nostalgia. You missed those times a lot, but you knew your grandmother was your number one supporter ever since you had told her about your wish to become a florist. She was the first to know about the shop too.
Flowers were fascinating to you, even though most people around you didn’t understand what was so special about them. All that didn’t matter to you. You finally had your space to cherish them as much as you wanted.
Today was the opening of your shop, and you couldn’t wait to welcome your first client. Unable to stay still, you got up and started picking up some flowers from the buckets around you - might as well fill your time doing something productive. Your first bouquet for the day was going to be special - a pink and yellow tulip one.
As you arranged the freshly cut flowers on the counter, humming along to the song playing on the radio next to you, you couldn’t help but smile for probably the hundredth time since you woke up. Yellow tulips for cheerfulness, pink - for good wishes and friendships. Too busy repeating their meaning in your mind, you didn’t notice the ringing of the small bell, placed at the entrance, signaling that someone had entered the store.
“Excuse me, are you open?” The raspy voice of the newcomer startled you, and you dropped your scissors on the floor, looking up. You were almost blinded. The man standing at the doorframe was, to say the least, breathtaking. His dark hair fell loosely around his face, and he seemed as if he was stifling a yawn. You took notice of his clothes too - he was wearing a white shirt, tugged in black, elegant pants, and you wondered what kind of job he had.
“Oh, yes,” you said after clearing your throat with a quiet cough. “Please, welcome.”
“Are you busy? I can come later,” the man responded, pointing to the almost-finished bouquet before you as he approached you. Now up close, you were sure - he was gorgeous. Feeling flustered under his studying sleepy gaze, you bent down to pick up the fallen scissors.
“Oh, no, I’m just passing the time,” you explained as you got up. You saw him holding a hardcover book, which he placed on the counter, smiling gently. The cover had you staring at it in awe - it depicted a small green field filled with daisies, but from your angle, you couldn’t read the title or the author’s name.
“Congratulations on opening. I’m your neighbour, so to speak,” he joked, stretching out his right hand. “Yeosang, nice to meet you.”
His hand was warm, and his grip was firm when you shook it, introducing yourself. “Let me guess…”
Yeosang raised his eyebrows with a grin, waiting for your next words. “You’re the bookstore’s owner.”
“How did you know?” You laughed at his genuine surprise and shrugged, “Guess I was born with psychic abilities.”
“I should’ve hidden the book,” Yeosang murmured, frowning. “Yes, but I’m also an author.”
He picked up the book from the counter and handed it to you. You noticed a faint blush on his cheeks. This time you saw the cover properly - Illusion. A collection of poetry by Kang Yeosang. You ran your fingers through the title, admiring the beautifully illustrated daisies. Yeosang’s low chuckle made you look up at his face again, feeling a little embarrassed. “You like the flowers, don’t you?”
“Caught in the act,” you said, grinning when he threw his head back and laughed louder this time. “It’s beautiful. I’ll definitely read it.”
“I hope you like it. Do tell me which one is your favourite,” Yeosang answered, taking a business card from his pocket and handing it to you. There were even more daisies at the back of it. Sensing your amusement, he quickly explained, “Daisies are my favourite. Don’t judge me too much.”
“I never judge based on flower tastes,” you exclaimed, shaking your head.
“I feel like you just lied to me,” Yeosang’s mischievous tone made you smile again. “Take this as an official invitation to my book premiere tomorrow. The book isn’t out yet, so don’t give any spoilers.”
“Yeah,” you teased. “I’ll just post a few screenshots. Nothing more.”
“I might have to take it back, be careful,” he tilted his head to the right, his expression serious. Why was your heart fluttering? “Actually, I came to buy some flowers. So what would you say are the perfect flowers for the start of the week?”
His question caught you off guard, but your brain was already searching for the answer. Looking around the buckets filled with flowers behind him, you murmured more to yourself than speaking directly to him, “Daffodils for new beginnings, chrysanthemums for optimism and joy…”
“You sure know a lot about it, huh,” Yeosang’s deep voice shifted your focus back on him, and you felt heat rush into your cheeks. “Then I’d take seven daffodils, please.”
Trying to contain your excitement from having your first customer, you made a simple composition, adding a few branches of baby’s breath around the white daffodils and tying them with a simple yellow ribbon. While you were working, you felt Yeosang’s intense stare still on you, making your hands tremble a little. “Here you are.”
The man smiled warmly as you handed him the small bouquet. “Have a nice day, Y/N. I’ll be waiting for you.”
As you watched him turn and wave at you one last time from the door before he left, you let out a sigh.
Yes, this was the best day of your life.

“Yeah, he was definitely flirting with you,” your friend Wooyoung shouted while you were taking your third shot for the night, both of you sitting on the soft carpet in your living room in your pajamas. You had invited him earlier to celebrate the shop’s opening, but you definitely hadn’t expected him to show up with a bag filled with soju bottles.
After Yeosang had left, the day was relatively quiet and uneventful. A few customers came in and left satisfied, and your parents visited you too. Your sales weren’t that great, but at least you did what you loved the most. And now you regretted sharing your encounter with the handsome poet with your best friend.
“Stop making things weird. He was just being nice,” you answered, your mind already envisioning Yeosang’s face as if he was standing right in front of you again. You would’ve lied if you said you didn’t like him and hadn’t thought about him around ten times today. Maybe even more. You even read some of his poems while waiting for customers and were left speechless. He had a beautiful way with words for which you envied him a bit - to manage to convey your emotions through a few lines so well was something you found awfully attractive.
“You always think that men “are just being nice” to you,” Wooyoung rolled his eyes, pouring you and him another drink. At this rate, you had no idea how you were getting up for work tomorrow, but it was expected - nights with him were always like this.
You had known him all your life, with your moms being best friends since university. He was the person in your life who knew you the most and wanted the best for you. You were always grateful to have him close to you, but at the same time, you really wanted to smack him right now.
“You’re being annoying again,” you groaned and pulled playfully his pierced ear, to which he whined. “Stop playing a matchmaker.”
“Stop being so single,” Wooyoung teased you and emptied his glass, pointing at yours to do the same. You gladly took that shot. If the conversation kept going this way, you had to be intoxicated as much as possible. “And my judgment is never wrong.”
“After my disaster of a date with Yunho, you still have the guts to think that?”
Wooyoung loved setting you up with his friends, and you, honestly, had no idea why. Every single date went the same way - they took you to a nice restaurant, you had dinner, talked for a bit, and then they escorted you to your apartment, hoping to be invited in. You didn’t do it. And they didn’t call again either.
Wooyoung was always telling you you had too high standards, and you felt silly crushing on a man you saw for the first time today and knew nothing about.
“Hey, slight miscalculations happen. And I always pick out the hottest people for you,” Wooyoung stated in a matter-of-fact tone. “But seriously, step up your game. You can’t spend your whole life sniffing flowers.”
The pillow hit him right in the face, to your satisfaction.
You didn’t mind the flowers being your only company at all.

The following day was, to say the least, extremely nerve-wracking. Yeosang had come by to see you first thing in the morning and to remind you of his premiere. He didn’t stay for long, saying he still had a lot of things to prepare, and left after buying some roses of different colours to decorate his bookstore.
Little did he know, you’d spent the night tossing and turning, wondering what to wear, what to say, and after Wooyoung’s comments about Yeosang you couldn’t even imagine looking him in the eyes. There was no way you could’ve forgotten about tonight.
So after changing out of your working apron and putting on the outfit you’d picked out as the best in your closet, you headed over to Yeosang’s bookstore - Little Miracles, holding the bouquet of tulips you’d made the day before.
It suited his style, you concluded when you entered the small and cozy shop, filled with stacks of books everywhere. You took your time, walking around the shelves, occasionally picking up some books. You realised it was more of an antiquarian bookstore with many special editions of your favourite works, such you’d never seen before.
“You like something?” His deep voice startled you and sent a wave of shivers down your spine. You felt your heart skip a beat when you turned to look at Yeosang, standing on your left for who knows how long before you noticed him. Just like yesterday, he was dressed in formal attire,
but this time his hair was slicked back, exposing his forehead, with a few strands falling in front of his eyes. You knew you were staring, probably even gawking at him, but he looked so nice. “I mean the books.”
Feeling heat burning your cheeks, you looked away from his amused eyes. “I think I might want to live here.”
Yeosang grinned at you and pointed to the book you were holding - Dracula by Bram Stocker. You had read it when you were younger, and you couldn’t deny that it was the beginning of your vampire obsession phase. “You can take it as a gift. I appreciate that you came.”
“Oh, it looks too expensive.” And truly you were a bit afraid to not damage or stain the black and red hardcover with an ominous castle drawn in the middle. You couldn’t possibly accept this as a gift even though you thought you’d cry if you took it.
“Please,” Yeosang said hopefully, pushing the book to your chest. “Then keep it safe for me?”
The spark in his eyes was enough to convince you. “I guess I have to take it then…”
“Now that wasn’t so difficult, was it,” the man teased you, leaning with one hand on the bookshelf next to him. “You’re always welcome here. Come whenever you want to.”
“Thank you,” you blushed at his words even more, maintaining eye contact with him becoming too difficult. “Oh, these are for you. Congratulations.”
You handed him the bouquet, feeling the need to turn his attention away from you. Otherwise, you had no idea how you were going to survive the night. Yeosang thanked you and shifted his position, so now he stood much closer to you than before. “I’d love us to talk more, but I have to start the meet and greet soon. How about I treat you to dinner later?”
“Oh,” you stuttered, barely processing what was happening. “Yes, of course. I’d love to.”
“Great,” he chuckled, checking his wristwatch with a sigh. You noticed his hands were slightly trembling.
“Hey, don’t be nervous,” you tried comforting him. “You have talent, and your poems are amazing.”
“So you’ve read them,” Yeosang shot you a wide smile. “I’m not letting you go anywhere before you tell me about this later.”
Feeling too flustered to answer, you nodded and followed behind him as Yeosang led you to the centre of the bookstore where he had placed some chairs, most of them occupied. You took a seat at the back, trying to calm down your racing heart.
If a flower could describe your feelings now, it would be a pink rose.
Happiness.

Yeosang was a smooth talker.
Even though you’d known him for only two days, you felt as if he had been there your whole life. After his signing session ended and he sent off the last bit of guests, he closed the bookstore and took you to your favourite part of the city, full of quiet and cozy restaurants where you could get to know each other uninterrupted.
You had a lot in common - you both liked matcha lattes and chocolate muffins, enjoyed riding your bikes, watching the sunset, and you both hated spicy food, loud places and queuing for a book at the bookshop on its release day.
Yeosang told you about his bookstore and how it had all started. Surprisingly, he had graduated as a film major but hadn’t made any progress in that field, so he decided to turn to his hobby - writing. That’s how almost four years ago he opened his shop and started collecting old and tattered books, trying to find them a new home. You loved the spark in his eyes when he told you his story and realised you felt the same way about flowers. All you wanted was for the people who bought them to continue appreciating them as much as you did.
You also noticed he was much shyer than you thought him to be, which you found endearing, and wondered how many more sides of him you were yet to uncover. His calm demeanor made you feel at home and safe with him, and you really didn’t want the night to end.
“So, tell me more about your daisies,” you began, taking a sip from your glass of wine. Yeosang let out a low chuckle, shaking his head.
“Are you that curious?” He challenged you, and honestly, you weren’t sure if it was because of all the wine you had or him or both, but you had the urge to look away. The teasing glint in his gaze was too much for your poor soul, and you felt as if you were burning up every time you locked eyes.
“Well, you don’t see every day a grown-up man with a daisy obsession, so yeah,” you answered, fidgeting with your fingers nervously. Yeosang looked confident in your eyes, but you could still see a slight redness creep up his neck.
“Well,” he started explaining, rolling his sleeves up to his elbows. “I guess they just remind me of my childhood. When I was younger, I used to live in the countryside with my family for a while. There was this huge field with daisies where my parents, older sister, and I went every weekend. They bring me comfort, and I like their meaning as well.”
You imagined little Yeosang running around a big green field, chasing after butterflies and picking up daisies. Your heart might have as well burst at this point. “That sounds so adorable.”
“You think so? The bees weren’t so adorable,” he arched his eyebrows, smirking, and took a sip from his glass. “So, tell me about your flowers then. A story for a story.”
“My grandma used to be a florist herself in the past, so ever since I was born, there were flowers everywhere around me,” you recall, thinking of all the times she’d let you watch her tend her garden and help her water the small buds, waiting for them to grow. “I love everything about them - even though some people say they are just temporary happiness. There’s beauty in the fleeting too.”
“Let’s drink to that then,” Yeosang grinned, raising his glass. You did the same and nodded to him to continue. “To all the flowers and all the happy memories they leave behind.”

Over the next few months, you fell into a comfortable daily routine. You opened your shop at 8 in the morning, picked out the freshest flowers from the daily delivery you ordered from a local garden, and spent the whole day arranging bouquets until 5 in the afternoon.
It fascinated you how people with different purposes, goals, and fates came to you to seek the comfort of flowers - some - for grief and loss, others - for first dates and confessions. You were always happy to help and introduce them to a deeper understanding of flowers.
The only variable in your life was Yeosang.
Your relationship remained painfully unlabeled.
Were you dating? Kind of. You went out a few days per week, and whenever you didn’t, you stayed in his bookstore after you’d finished working, sharing a couple of hours of comfortable silence with him. During these quiet moments, he wrote his poems or read to you while you sat curled up on the sofa in his small office, reading whatever book you found that day or just listening to his soothing voice.
Your mornings together were also something you loved. Yeosang, unlike you, was an early bird. His usual shift started at 10 a.m., but he came earlier so he could spend some extra time with you under the pretense he had nothing else to do. When you arrived at the shop, he was already sitting on the stairs in front of it, holding his daily gift, as called it, in his hands and shyly handed it to you. Usually, it consisted of a couple of daisies he’d picked up from the park next to his apartment building and a note wishing you a nice day or containing a short scribbled poem that always made you laugh.
And your days were truly nice. Except you couldn’t stop thinking about Yeosang even for a minute.
Today was no different, but this morning Yeosang seemed more nervous than usual. The sweat, glistening on his forehead, and his shaking hands as he handed you the daisies and a small piece of paper made you wonder what had him so worked up this early. He didn’t stay long, saying he had “some things to take care of” and left you alone, standing puzzled in the middle of your shop.
Once you opened the folded note, you found out why Yeosang was acting so strangely.
Please, come and meet me at a field of daisies and dreams.
Your hands were sweaty, your heart was probably beating in an inhumane rate, and you were smiling too widely as you walked to the location Yeosang had written on his morning note. It was past 7 p.m., and you could see the last vibrant colours of the fading sun light up the sky. The spring afternoon breeze caressed your face and swirled some cherry blossoms around you. You felt like you were a fairy tale character, surrounded by early-bloomed spring flowers and trees at your favourite park. It was close to your shop and one of the main reasons you chose that exact rental place. You loved going there after work, taking a long walk, and clearing up your thoughts whenever you felt the need to. You honestly didn’t expect Yeosang to remember this location since you’d told him about it a long time ago, yet he always found a way to surprise you.
There were a lot of people during this time of the day, so it was difficult spotting Yeosang in the sea of faces around you, but once you did - you couldn’t take your eyes off of him.
No matter how many times you saw his face, you were always amazed. Now was no different - his bootcut jeans and blue t-shirt suited him perfectly, and his hair was hidden under a white beanie. He was holding a tote bag decorated with daisies in one hand as he waved at you with his free one.
“Hey,” Yeosang beamed at you, pulling you in for a hug when he came closer. Wrapping your hands around him, you could smell the woody scent of his perfume and felt the softness of his dark locks at the nape of his neck under your fingertips. “You look beautiful.”
This date was going to be the end of you, for sure.
The cool night wind, the shimmering of the street lamps, and the calm breathing of Yeosang lying in your lap made you feel at peace. The sun was long gone under the horizon, and you had no idea how much time had passed since he pulled you to sit down on a soft blanket and took out of his bag probably the sweetest strawberries you’d ever eaten. Yeosang had definitely come prepared for this spontaneous picnic date.
Now you ran your fingers mindlessly through his silky hair as he told you a story about some customer he had today. The position you were in felt domestic and comfortable as if you’d done this thousands of times before. You found it hard to concentrate on his voice when Yeosang started drawing random shapes on your thighs and then had the audacity to ask you about your day. If your head hadn’t been spinning from the overwhelming feeling of him, you would’ve probably answered him.
“Hey,” he whispered, his fingertips brushing your cheeks, trying to get your attention as he got up from your lap. The loss of his touch made you miss his warmth. “You’re spacing out.”
“You’re very distracting.” Unable to look at him or form any other coherent answer, you shifted your gaze to the small daisies growing on your right amongst the grass. You reached out your hand to touch them and felt the grass around them tickle your palm.
“Now who’s obsessed with daisies, huh,” said Yeosang, amused, wrapping his fingers around your chin to turn your face to him. For a split second, you stopped hearing the world around you - the children’s laughter, the faded sound of music, coming from somewhere around you, all became muted under the rhythm of your heartbeat, ringing in your ears. It was just you and his soft gaze, studying your face, and Yeosang, rubbing his thumb across your chin. You saw his eyes wander downwards to your lips before he asked in a hushed voice, “Can I kiss you?”
Seconds after your nod, you felt Yeosang’s warm lips on yours. At first, his kiss was light and hesitant, and his movements- were slow and deliberate. You reached up to hold on to his t-shirt as he cupped your face with his big hands. The coldness of his palms made you shiver. Where you touched, you felt as if electricity was running through your body.
Before you knew it, Yeosang deepened the kiss, making you gasp for breath. Your shaky hands grabbed his shoulders for support while his moved to your thighs. It was too much. His lips left yours only to feel them on your neck, leaving shy kisses along your jawline and then continuing downwards. His lips stopped right above the daisy charm hanging from your silver necklace, which he had gifted you. The pink blush on Yeosang’s cheeks and the warmth and love you saw in his dark eyes were more than enough to make your heart swell with adoration.
Yeosang reached for a small, freshly bloomed daisy beside him and pulled it from the ground. Placing it behind your ear, he caressed your cheek gently. “Do you know what’s the meaning of daisies?”
“Of course I do,” you replied, sounding offended. At this point, he had to know you were a walking flower encyclopedia. “New beginnings, purity, and faith.”
“That’s all?” Yeosang pressed, leaning in closer to your face again. The proximity had your head spinning. “I’ve heard of another one too.”
“And what is it?” You were feeling out of breath, his lips only centimeters away from yours.
“True love.”
These were his only words before Yeosang captured your lips in another kiss under the night sky and the stars shimmering above you.
You wanted this moment to last forever.
Daisies, you decided, were your favourite flowers.

The golden rays peered through the closed window blinds, hitting his eyes. As he blinked off his sleep, he turned to his girlfriend’s sleeping figure, remembering their conversation from the night before.
“I wanna try something new, Yeosang.” She said, closing the book she was reading and setting it on the bedside table, now facing the man laying in the bed beside her.
“What might that be?” He questioned, intrigued by her bold tone.
“Whoever wakes up first,” she started, “gets to wake the other up by pleasing them however they want. If you’re okay with it, of course.”
He raised a brow, surprised.
She usually was more shy when it came to sexual things, although she had been gradually becoming more bold. He was her first for almost everything, so it was only natural that she was shy.
It took her time, but a couple months into the relationship she assured him that she was ready to give her virginity to him. Give, she told him, because she trusted and loved him. She truly believed she wouldn’t be losing anything by sleeping with him. He was apprehensive about it, but as soon as she begged him, her voice whiny and eyes darkened with lust, he was done for. She felt a bit of pain at first, but it soon subsided and a fire burned within her, never before feeling as good as she did in that moment.
Sex quickly after became a regular ocurance, and he was surprised at how often she would pounce on him, shyly begging him to fill her up and please her in whatever way he wanted. Not that he minded at all. He had several sexual partners before, but none like her. She was a whirlwind, bold and daring one moment, then a shy and embarrassed mess with even the slightest innuindo he would whisper in her ear.
She was eager to please him, which he appreciated, but he found himself prioritizing her pleasure over his far more than he ever had with another woman. The way she would arch her back or furrow her eyebrows when they had sex was a heavenly sight to him, and he always wondered what planet he must’ve saved in his past life to be able to have her as his own. Cheesy, yes, but he had to admit it to be true. Her little mewls and breathless moans were likely enough to make him cum from that alone. He wouldn’t be surprised if he did.
“What makes you say that, darling?” He placed an arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer and looking into her eyes.
Her face became a slight shade of pink, her bold nature slowly fading as it always did when he pulled her close, “I just think it’d be fun.”
He laughed, “Sure. I’m okay with that.”
He was relatively confident that he would wake up before her, he did most mornings anyways, but she was quick to fall asleep that night. She seemed very determined to wake up first and he started to think that she just might wake up before him. So when he awoke and saw her in such a peaceful, deep sleep he smiled to himself, looking forward to see her reaction to being woken up in such a way.
Her legs were intertwined with his, and carefully he separated them, gently spreading her legs as not to wake her up. He began by rubbing her thighs, the feeling of her soft, warm skin already driving him mad. His hands worked his way up under her loose shirt, finding her exposed breasts and teasing her nipples. Still asleep, she inhaled deeply, already responding to his touch. He felt himself twitch in his boxers, his member becoming hard.
He moved her panties aside, dipping his fingers down to run along her folds. She emitted a choked moan, calling out his name while still in a dream-like state. He felt her becoming wet and he grinned, surprised at how easily she was turned on, even in her sleep.
Yeosang moved closer to her, fingers moving to her clit and rubbing slow circles while whispering into her ear, “You like that? You like me touching your pretty pussy and making a mess out of you?”
She let out a jumble of words close to “please” while unconsciously moving her hands to fist the sheets near her. He slipped a few fingers into her folds, teasing her slightly before pushing his fingers all the way in, scissoring her from time to time.
It had taken a while to find her g-spot when they first started having sex, but he was eventually able to locate it with ease and he had memorized it like the back of his hand, loving the way she would call out to him as he stimulated her.
He curled his fingers to reach her sweet spot, knowing he found it when her eyes opened, loudly moaning as she did so. She turned to him and saw his hand down her panties, the sight making her even hornier, if that was possible for her.
“Good morning, princess.” He spoke in a sing-song voice that she was unable to fully process as he continued to find her g-spot over and over again. She moaned his name, grabbing his face and pulling him down to meet her lips. He felt her hips buck up into his hands and he groaned into the kiss.
“I’ll have to admit, this was a pretty good idea of yours.” Yeosang whispered, “You looked absolutely breathtaking waking up to see me fingering you.”
She moaned again, feeling the coil in her abdomen begin to unravel from the combination of his hands and words. He rode her out through her orgasm, slowing down his motions as to not overstimulate her. Her breathing slowly became less labored and she pressed her lips against his. He leaned back and admired her flushed face and reddened lips, a sense of pride washing over him. He watched as her eyes began to droop.
“Tired, love?”
She stuck out her lip and shook her head, looking so adorable to the man, “Wanna please you, babe.”
He chuckled at her sleepy state and said something he never would have with any other woman, “Why don’t you rest? You can later, okay?”
She nodded, not needing much convincing. Yeosang lifted himself from the bed and walked to their bathroom, grabbing a nearby towel. He ran warm water over it and smiled to himself. Before he met her, he would’ve chased after his pleasure immediately. Now, he had no problem with letting her rest while getting himself off in the bathroom. He really wanted the best for her, in all ways. He loved the woman in the other room with everything in him.
The woman gave a tired smile as he made his way to her, gently moving the warm towel between her legs and cleaning her. He pressed kisses to her thighs, whispering ‘I love you’s’ that she happily returned.
When he was satisfied, he removed the towel and pressed a kiss to her forehead. Placing the towel aside, he ran his hands through her hair, watching her eyes slowly close as she fell asleep once more, nothing but love in his eyes.

Maknae Line version

Park Seonghwa (박성화): he'd ease you into the conversation
You're the type of person that needs time to warm up to people, Mingi knew this, but it's been such a long time since it happened in your friendship, almost a year now, that he genuinely forgot how uncomfortable some situations could be for you, and considering the amount of crazy shit he saw you say and do, could you really blame him? He thought you'd fit perfectly in his friend group since the first month he met you, and now, you finally agreed to meet them, but it wasn't going how he expected it.
You turned into a completely new person right in front of his eyes, a quieter one, the moment his friends got to the table, since you both were the first ones to get there.
He tried hard not to laugh as you smiled and waved to Yeosang and Seonghwa, who just sat by your side. He wouldn't be such an asshole to laugh at you or tease you at that moment, you were pink enough already.
"So, how long do you know each other?"
"I'm so sorry for you, he's so annoying, isn't he?
"Be honest, does he talk shit behind our backs? Song Mingi, you'd be dead if you do."
They did their best to make conversation and make you comfortable, and it worked to be fair. You answered them to the best of your abilities, highly entertained as they started to tease Mingi, it was one of your favorite activities to do. So you didn't doubt it, you could get along well with these guys.
But it was a bit overwhelming to pay attention to so many different comments and reactions, you were far from used to it. You wouldn't consider yourself shy, no, not at all, but you never had many friends, social interactions like this were not your forte.
A few drinks later, you felt a little tap on your shoulder, and you looked over at Seonghwa, his eyes were focused on you.
"Are you okay?", he asked in a hushed tone as he leaned a little bit to your right.
"Yes, I am, but why are you asking?", you whispered back, genuinely curious.
You didn't even realize you got so quiet, trying to take in most of the conversation, unless, of course, someone asked you something directly.
"You seemed a little distracted, we are so loud, aren't we?"
"I think no one could deny that statement", you said, and both of you laughed.
"It's worse than this most of the time, can you imagine what it's like to live with them?"
You couldn't, but he painted a great picture of it for you.
The hours passed, the food and alcohol came, and you got bit by bit more comfortable around them, thanks to Seonghwa's efforts (and just a little bit of Mingi's) to ease you in a smaller conversion between just you three to a broader conversation later on.
Kim Hongjoong (김홍중): he'd escape for a little bit with you
Hongjoong felt so, so bad for you, that he wanted to scold his members, and he barely knew you, at all. If he was closer to your side, he would strike a conversation with you, but he wasn't.
You were Wooyoung's friend and that's all he knew about you at first, since Wooyoung seemed protective of you for an unknown and probably unreasonable motive. So much so, that they all thought you two were dating, until now.
The thing about them is that they're loud, loud on a daily basis, the moment alcohol is involved? It could scare some people away, and he feared you would be one of those people.
You looked terrified the moment Mingi and Jongho started to yell at each other for some dumb reason Hongjoong didn't pay attention to, but your reaction was so funny, he almost laughed. You were wide-eyed observing the scene unfold, and even more surprised that no one seemed to care at all, you didn't know they were always like that, and your face the moment Wooyoung started to instigate the discussion even more? Hilarious, but it seemed like he was the only one paying attention to you at the moment.
Then Seonghwa took Hongjoong's attention for a bit, and the moment he looked over at you again, you were gone.
Wooyoung and Mingi were now giggling together, and before he could say anything, Yunho spoke up first.
"Wooyoung-ah, is your friend okay?", Yunho tapped his shoulders and only then, Wooyoung realized you weren't there, only your bag on the chair.
"Yeah, I think so", Wooyoung frowned while he spoke, but he shrugged right after, because he knew you would be back soon.
And you really would. You left to catch your breath for a moment, let the nervous level down and go back as soon as possible, but Hongjoong found you first.
"Hey, you want to go grab ice cream down the street with me?"
Well, now you had the perfect opportunity to escape the chaos and get to know him a little more, how could you refuse?
Jeong Yunho (정유호): he'd include you in every conversation
There's some sort of magic to when you have someone's attention focused on you, and you can see that they are listening, and that they actually care.
You do think it is a little bit unfair to say that people who don't do that, don't care. Everyone is talking, right? There are multiple conversations going on, the topic changes so fast, then someone screams something and everybody is laughing. This is what happened through most of the night, a lot of changes in the dynamics and energy of the table, it was a lot to take in to say the least. But there was a constant by your side, Jeong Yunho himself being the absolute MVP of your night.
The moment you sat by his side, he welcomed you with a small, but bright smile and a short introduction, and you thought that he might be a little shy too, just like you.
Oh, how wrong you were. Yunho was the one who kept the conversation going with you, included you into the other conversation and quietly explained some of the jokes to you.
"You know, you didn't say a single thing to me until now", you said to Jongho, sat on your other side, the moment the chaos died down.
"Of course, I did! We were all talking minutes ago", his tone raised immediately, and his offended face made everyone laugh.
"I don't know, I'd be worried to lost your position to Yunho after tonight."
Jongho calmly looked at you, and then to a Yunho, who was trying to hold in a massive grin.
"Oh really? Then I'm going to past to him all of the things you tol-"
"You know what? Eat more, here, eat this", you interrupted him, picked a lonely piece of chicken in hurry, and shoved down his throat to shup him up.
Everyone laughed while Jongho coughed like crazy.
Kang Yeosang (강여상): he'd help you without even knowing
Poor Yeosang, he's more awkward than you in that table. He's not the best at making friends or talking to someone for the first time. He doesn't know where to look, because you were right in front of him, and to be honest, if the boys weren't mean like that, he would say it was on purpose.
Everything was going smoothly, after all those were his friends in a comfortable set up, but you were there, so he couldn't make himself be as talkative or as loud, and they all noticed.
"Are you OK, Yeosang-ah? You seem a little red", the devil himself, Jeong Wooyoung said.
Now, all of the attention were on him, including yours. If he was red before, now he was bright pink.
"I'm okay, of course, why something wouldn't be okay?", he said, while he did his best to keep his eyes on a random table in the restaurant.
"Oh, I don't know, you're quieter today, that's all", that was all Wooyoung said, while taking another sip of his drink.
But that was enough for the others to join in.
For you? It was heaven. You were so distracted, laughing along with the jokes, that you forgot all about the pressure on your shoulders to impress those people.
By the end of the night, you felt comfortable with everyone, including Yeosang, even though he barely talked to you directly, you felt like you could relate to him, and you knew him better than before
SO THIS IS LOVE - A KYS SCENARIO

Ateez Masterlist

As you came out of the shower, Yeosang’s mind started to wonder how you ever thought you weren’t beautiful.
You seemed clueless as he watches you with a smile on his face, his phone suddenly not as interesting anymore. You are wearing some of your comfiest clothes to sleep in, maybe a bit old but that’s part of why you love it so much, and you’re not embarrassed to wear it around him like before.
This also wasn’t the first night both of you would sleep in the same bed, either, so what was so special that caught Yeosang’s attention for the 10 minutes you did your skincare routine with the door open? He didn’t know a word that could express how he felt to answer that. He felt so serene, so at home, that it scared him for a moment. It felt right to be there with you, without the busy life and the insecurities to keep him away for you, from the outside and from the inside.
Those thoughts were frequent, but this was the first time he wanted to share them with you.
“Are you ok, love?”, you asked as you laid in bed with him.
“Hm?”, he looked at you with those sleepy eyes and shy smile, he felt you listened to his thoughts and figured him out already.
“You seem distracted”, you reached for his hands as you both laid face to face.
“Just thinking”, he said as he pulled you closer to his body. “Goodnight, honey”, he kissed your hair after he said it.
He would keep you clueless for a little longer until he has his shit together, or else he would just propose to you right there and then.
You hid your smile as you closed your eyes, and pretended to ignore his racing heartbeat, just as you pretended to ignore his intense stare. One of the adorable little facts about your boyfriend was that he is an open book to you, but you’re a patient woman, you could wait a little longer to hear the words from him.

N/A: This is a different format I'm testing it out, so let me know it you guys liked it? I can write much more of these shorts stories in between my normal ones.

You already told him so earlier, because it was a simple truth and you were nothing but a simple person yourself. But also, you could use every excuse in the world to listen to his voice in the early mornings.
"Honey", he chuckled. "I have sleep in my eyes, please, it's to early for that", he said and turned to the other side of the bed.
The smile grew on your face as you noticed the red appear on the top of his ears as he hid from your eyes.
He knew that's what you wanted and today, he woke up not willing to give it to you so easily.
"There's some undeniable truths in this universe, babe, you can hide from them, but they always comeback eventually", you teased even further as you caressed the soft black hair near his neck with your left hand. You knew he was more than red at this point.
Yeosang is easy to fluster, but just-woke-up Yeosang is even easier. It was a secret that you only used for good purposes, of course.
"There's another undeniable truth... ", he whispered and yawnned before finishing it.
"Hum?", you said as you started to run your fingers through his hair.
"That I love you".
You stopped your actions for a second, just like your heart.
"Babe, are you sick?", there was amusement in your words, something Yeosang wasn't expecting at that moment.
You though he would tease you back like the usual, maybe a cringy line at the max since he usually didn't express love like that, so open and direct without breaking into a second-hand embarrassment reaction.
This? Your mind didn't know how to process it. Yeosang loves you, of course, you knew that, he said it before, but something about the way he said it now, so easy and natural did things to you.
"What kind of answer is that?", he murmmured while spying you through the corner of his eyes, yet without turning to you completely.
You could see his side eye from a mile away, and that made you smile.
"I love you too, babe", you said as you backhugged him, his favorite position to be in. "But are you sick, though? You don't say stuff like that usually".
"Hmm, that's the reason, I don't but I want to", he said in that same low tone, and you felt him hiding his face on the pillow.
"You're adorable, have I told you that?"
"No", his voice was so sharp that scared you for a moment. Then he moved and turned in your arms, now face to face with you. "I want to talk this things about you", his face fell right in front of your eyes.
He reached for your hands and intertwined them with his own, then slowly lifted to the side of his face. The back of your hand brushing his cheeks.
You waited for him to say more, but he closed his eyes in that position. Still, you were pacient with him as he chose his words.
"I just want to be better for you", he whispered.
"You're great for me, honey... You know I love you exactly like you are, right?"
He nodded as he releaed your hand, and held you close again.
"I know, but I want to show you how much I love you exactly like you are too".
You petted his hair as you smiled.
"So that means I can't call you cute, adorable, handsome, the love of my life anymore?"
His laugh reached your ears as he hid his face into your hair.
"Hm, I'll think about it".

9:24 AM
Just a short little thing for Yeosang day (we’re going to pretend this isn’t late) because he’s so sweet. Genre: fluff. So much fluff. Your teeth with fall out from the fluffiness. Warnings: Yeosang is mean to a piece of bacon. Idk there’s not really anything there. The fluff may rot your teeth. Word count: 313 (was not kidding when I said short)
It’s not every day that Yeosang gets to relax a bit and cuddle with you. With him being an idol and you having to travel for work a lot, you two don’t see each other face to face as much as you’d like to. So when he found out that his day off was going to be on his birthday and that you would be in town that day, he got very excited.
When he came home the night before, you basically threw yourself at him and showered him in kisses, clinging to him like a koala. You had prepared a fancy dinner and bought two cupcakes from a local bakery, each cupcake having some red frosting on it (it was his favorite color, after all). When dinner was done, you two curled up on the couch together, watching a K-drama as he fell asleep.
“Sangie, baby, wake up. I made breakfast,” you whispered, tapping his shoulder to wake him up. He looked so peaceful when he slept, but the bacon was getting cold and it never tasted as good reheated.
“Mm… just two more minutes,” he murmured, hiding his face under the covers.
“The bacon’s going to get cold…”
“The bacon can deal with it then,” he said, turning to you and pulling at your arm. “Come back to bed.”
You chuckled and pulled back, kissing the back of his hand when he whined in protest.
“Two more minutes, and then I’m coming back. The pancakes aren’t going to wait forever…”
Pancakes?
Yeosang was out of bed and hugging you before you even got to the door. He loved pancakes. Almost as much as he loved you.
“I love you, yn. Thank you for making me pancakes. You’re the best,” he mumbled into your neck. You smile and lead him out of the room.
“I love you too, Yeosang. Happy birthday, baby.”
