Everyone On Tumblr Is Just Using Words I've Never Heard Of In My Life And Not Explaining Them
Everyone on Tumblr is just using words I've never heard of in my life and not explaining them
Is this a joke?
It has to be a joke, no way this a word, it's stupid
But I dunno, pretty sure it's a word and I'm just stupid myself

This doesn't apply to you though, Sherlock, you never made such claims
Things changed from the book
2001 a Space Odyssey is one of my favorite books, and also a really great movie
That said, here's a few things they changed or never explained
There is no monolith on the Earth: I know, it's crazy, the monolith is the most iconic imagery in the entire movie. And yet there is no monolith on earth. What actually arrived on earth was more pyramid shaped if I remember correctly, with more moving parts, and lots of colors. The monolith is only found on the moon
Monolith ratio: This might have been in the movie, and I'm remembering wrong, but fun fact if it's not, the Monolith found on the moon had a ratio of 1 : 4 : 9
They don't go to Jupiter: In the books they actually aren't going to Jupiter like we see in the movies, but rather are slingshoting past Jupiter onwards to a moon of Neptune, where they find what the monolith was leading them to
The most iconic scene isn't there: In the book, following Hal's betrayal and murder of Dr. Poole, Bowman does immediately run out for him and abandon his helmet in the haste, but instead realizes it's already too late and watches him drift off. He then does have a different concerning and tense conversation with Hal
The killing of the crew: In the movie Hal slowly shuts down all lifepod functions one by one while Bowman is outside. In the book Bowman is on the process of waking up the crew to help him with Hal, in a last ditch attempt to deal with both the crew and Bowman, opens the bay doors. All three sleeping crew members are sucked out into the vacuum of space and Bowman rushes for an emergency spacesuit
I'm too tired, and sick, so there is no sick
