in honor of my second favorite capricorn, right after eve (@apocalypsewriters) of course, here’s a short fluffy story in honor of nyx! happy birthday, darling, I’m so sorry about all the angst- but at least l gave you a cute girlfriend, am I right?

Darkness surrounded her, pressing in on all sides; the only light came from the ancient face of the pale moon as it streamed in through the parted curtains. Unlike a few hours before, her heartbeat felt strong, the blood rushing through her veins normally once again. 

If Juni closed her eyes, she could almost imagine the room around her was her bedroom. That is, if it weren’t for the beeping of machines, and the tube in her arm, and the soft snoring of her dads from the chairs at the foot of the bed. Fera is one of my favorites. She's an absolute sweetheart and I would kill for her. She's an incredibly strong empath, having absorbed most of the power of her twin, Vera. She only feels others' negative emotions, which makes it hard to be around a lot of people, particularly in high school. How is their current mental health?

Bella: It's okay. Not amazing since she has her social life to stress about. Since the apocalypse, it's taken a downhill turn since she's the eldest in the group and feels obligated to take on all the responsibilities. She's worried about a lot of stuff.

Freddie: He's recovered from his depression a few years ago, but his high standards don't keep him healthy. He pushes through exhaustion, which leaves him in a bad physical and mental place. The birthday surprise wasn't the first time he was drugged by loved ones.

Zach: He also holds himself to too high standards. But, he's better than the other two at accepting personal mistakes. Not a lot of his confidence is faked, oddly enough, allowing him to be more comfortable with himself. However, he also takes a turn for the worse with the apocalypse; he also feels he has to fix it, to be the hero and his fear of being abandoned is developed.

Zach is 17 and goes by the hero name "Bladed Officer"

his powers are the same as canon (will the name clue anyone in? send in your guesses)

Zach is an independent branch of government protection force chiefly dealing with supernatural threats

it's called Miranda's protection service, after his mother

it's existed for a little longer than 2 years

Freddie is 14 and is infamous under the name "Manic Alchemist"

he's causing havoc in order to make a name for himself

he's overshadowed by his parent's achievements

he's been a villain for about 2 years

after attempting to submit patents and gain fame the "right way" he failed to gain enough traction

so he sourced out Bella, bought some tech, and sent a chemical explosion to a vacant government building

his deed was in every conversation, on the tip of everyone's tongue for weeks

and he loved the attention

so he's been doing it ever since

Bella is 20 and goes by the name "Scarlet Maiden" when doing hero business

and "the Crimson Programmer" when doing more shady business

she has the most experience - 6 years of villain/illegal tech distribution

which means she is the most well known

seriously, she's a household name - her nanites are infamous and used as a bogeyman

"Got to sleep now, or crimson nanites will take your new toy"

she provides tech support for Zach

she's been working with him since the beginning

half the tech is her own invention

and the other half she has tinkered with, improving it in many ways

she wants to get out onto the field, since she has the capacity and the desire to help people

seriously, she has funky tech she's been itching to use

she also continues to help Freddie with tech

almost 3/4 of his stuff is her tech

she intends to cash that in at some point, especially if he starts shortchanging her

all her tech has a manual override button that only she can access remotely, in case anything is used too brutally

unfortunately, her moral greyness in this au is hyped up, so she will take any deal, and can be paid off to some extent to interfere less if she's given a small fortune or access to something obscure

I love all their chaos so much. I would make a post like this, but I've only played the board game once, and only watched the movie once.

board game night: clue edition

nyx and juni throw a game night monthly. it was juni’s idea, of course. they make dinner for everyone, and sometimes they watch movies after the board game! nyx is the one who picks clue because she Loves clue. they invite everyone, even dawn

this takes place in what I imagine is a modern day college au, as they wouldn’t know what clue was in canon. in this, nyx and juni have a little apartment together, and violetta and aster have been dating for a few months. for the purpose of this scenario, nyx and dawn have reached a peace, but aren’t extremely close (I did this because I wanted to include dawn, so don’t read into anything-)

tora is So Pumped although she’s never played the game or watched the movie; she just loves board game night despite rarely winning. 

lynn hasn’t seen the movie but clue was one of the few board games at her orphanage and she played it often, so she’s very good. 

dawn agrees with nyx on one thing and one thing only- clue is both the best movie and the best board game to ever exist. she doesn’t always show up to game night, but she’s determined to Beat nyx this time (and she also is there to have fun, but that’s lower on the list of priorities)
