Full of Filth

Covered in grime

That came from work

From effort

From trying

Trying too hard

Is this what I want?

Happy through triumph

Afraid to fail

The pockmarks in the metal

Make me sick

I am covered head to toe

In soot

And dirt

And slag

Slag burned into my skin

In my clothes

Through the leathers

Too bright light

The sun seared into my corneas

Brown turned to fire-red

Contentedness

Found in work

Shame

Found in filth

You cannot live

Without consequence

I am filthy from work

I am angry from shame

I am learning the hard way
