Really Really Love How Destiny Handles The Topic Of Redemption And Redemption Arcs, Because Destiny Doesn't
really really love how Destiny handles the topic of redemption and redemption arcs, because Destiny doesn't even bother with the question of "Have they earned it?" and instead asks "Do they want to change?"
For all the chances Calus has been given to turn back on the path he's on by us and even his own daughter who he abused, he never does. He's stuck in his ways and adamant that he's correct and dies for it, forgoing all the chances he's been given. Savathun was given a literal second chance with becoming a lightbearer, but chooses not to change a single thing.
Meanwhile, Eramis seems to be taking that chance (albeit very slowly lmao). She's at the other end with Calus during Beyond Light, but the deeper she finds herself in with the Witness, she starts to realize this isn’t what she wanted at all (personally I believe it started with seeing her dead eliksni friends being turned into scorn as a “gift” but it could easily be a multitude of things) and she takes the hand that Eido and Mithrax hold out to her. She’s done horrible things, of course, but it wouldn’t be a redemption if she hadn’t. Eramjs just needed to realize what she’d done and have the capacity to change.

One time I mentioned to my bf that Eris is a hunter and he was like, no, she's a warlock. And so I had to explain to him that no, she is very much a hunter lol.
I like picturing hunters and titans who are very much researchers (Eris and Chalco being hunters but doing their own research and experiments and my titan, Cynthia, is an exo scientist who the fireteam questions whenever she is taking apart an exo frame in her apartment). It's not just warlocks who obsess and do experiments lol.
The fact Eris was a Hunter when she still had her Light still baffles me, sometimes. She's the most warlock-coded character there is, more so than some actual Warlocks. The whole "obsession" thing, being referred to as a witch, the slightly unethical experiments, the general mysticism...
Then I imagine Eris as a stereotypical hunter, smashing into ceilings, accidentally stabbing herself with her own knives, getting her cloak caught in things...it's pretty funny
Hey gang! I plan on still playing through to the Final Shape. I'm taking a little break now before next season. I already got my gilded Iron Lord and Haruspex titles, and I wanna take a mini break from the game with all the recent bungie news.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do after TFS. I love the lore and the characters and designs, but I'm not sure where Bungie is going with the game. I don't think TFS is a proper conclusion because there are still so many loose threads to complete (fikrul the fanatic and the scorn, savathun and Xivu, the vex, the other Eliksni houses, the curse on the dreaming city, etc, etc). And I would love to see more of these played out. But idk if I'm just gonna watch YouTube videos of these things or continue playing after TFS. I think I'll wait until Bungie gives us more information about what is coming next for them and destiny to decide.
Ghosts as a whole concept make me so fucking insane. they’re just people and they’re the living engines of a brutal war and they’re the fragile shield between every Guardian and their last death and they do terrible things in the name of love and they are a kind of love incarnate and and and
My personal headcanon for some of the recycled dialogue in the Haunted Lost Sectors is that the Ghost and Guardian are playing recordings of previous years comms so Immaru has something to growl at when there’s nobody else on comms. Immaru doesn’t notice this because he’s too busy heckling the Guardian about how dumb we are and how he’s not gonna help us
