He works so hard to be the strong one out of the two of you, maintaining an appearance of strength and indifference for most topics. Sure, he gets upset and bothered by certain aspects of life, but he doesn’t let it affect him like it would you.

But even the previous harbinger, now Wanderer, has his moments of weakness. And they tend to make themselves known only in the deepest depths of your guys’ home.

When you take time and care to strip him of his clothes, all while kissing his shoulders or head while you shed the layers. He’d typically scoff at this. After all, it’s not like he’s of a high status anymore.

But he felt something inside of him ache as your lips were pressed against his porcelain skin. Failing to notice the way his lip quivered, he bit the insides of his left cheek.

“Why do you treat me like this?”

You looked up at him from your position, kneeling in front of him as you slid off his shorts.

“I am no longer a harbinger, and proven to be a failed attempt of a god. So why?” A tear fell onto his bare thigh in front of your soft gaze. “Why do you treat me as if I am special in any way?”

“You are correct, about not being a god or harbinger.”

His eyes narrowed at your harsh but honest statement, not that you intended for it to feel hurtful.

“But you are the one I love, and I intend to prove to you, that you are worthy of it. My affections and decisions will not be denied, simply because you fear you’re not enough.”

When he finally allowed your eyes to meet, he felt something foreign. Not indifference, or his idea of strength. But, maybe this was…the love you spoke of.

lyney’s assistant and twin sister never thought she’d fall in love, not when she already has so much on her plate. you were a rush of blood to the head, an adrenaline rush caused by something as simple as meeting your eye. lynette felt as if she were walking a tightrope every time she talked to you, one wrong move and she’d be revealing her affiliations with the fatui. her love was a dangerous one in every way that could be. if you ever found out, she might not be able to let you live at all. ultimately, it was a thin line between life and death.

such pointless doubts only served to hurt and waste the time you shared. the pain of her being alone and unable to tell the truth only hurt because it was invisible to the outside eye. maybe she’d begin avoiding you for her own sake, but even the smallest and most mundane things would remind her of you. lynette couldn’t help but gravitate back towards you, wishing she didn’t love you as much as she did. past friends had always left once they found her connections to the fatui, often with hurtful words that still stung when she thought about it now. her lifeless purple eyes held a melancholy whenever she talked to you, wanting only to tell you the truth. then you’d either love her still or leave her, instead of leaving her in a form of purgatory in which she didn’t understand how you truly felt.

the day she told you, she was taken off guard by the way you still loved her. it didn’t matter to you, you just loved lynette because she was herself.

Imagine being with Freminet, someone who’s never been well-versed in how or how not to be treated in relationships. He’s anxious, thanks to Lyney’s constant fussing and Lynette’s warnings.

And then, he has the luck of finding you. Someone who adores him and only wants to love and care for him. Helping him with his underwater adventures, or assisting him in social situations. Just being there without overstepping or forcing your way into his space.

Easing him out of his comfort zone without practically shoving him into overwhelming discomfort. You show him patience that he’s unfamiliar with. Even within his family, it feels foreign with the level of caution and care you take to ensure his safety.

And while he may not be the most sure of his judgment, he’s sure of one thing. You are one of the best things to happen to him.

The woman in front of you didn’t even appear hurt, simply maintaining a face of indifference. But inside, her mind was racing. When you’d invited her to this beautiful forest, she’d expected a grand gesture of a date, as you’d done in the past. Not your decision to end your relationship.

“I do care, quite a deal,” she moved her hand up, to cup your face. Perhaps to even talk you out of it, as foolish as it was. But you stepped away from her.

And spoke with tears brimming your eyes, “which is why you can’t even pretend to be affected.”

You humans were so conflicting. You were the one who broke up with her, and now you’re crying over her. Even as you faced the ground, she knew your face was puffy and red. As it usually had been when you broke down.

“Because, I learned how to maintain my composure, after so long of practice.” What you didn’t know, was how badly she wanted to hold you, teasingly comforting you as she’d done many times before. “If you’re simply trying to leave for my seemingly lack of care, then I cannot make you stay. But I do implore you to think.”

“If I didn’t care, why would I stay with you for so long, dear?”
