let me tell you about aphrodite.

aphrodite is the reason i eat everyday. aphrodite checks to make sure i ate if she hasn’t heard me say my mealtime prayer to her. aphrodite is the reason i’m being gentler with myself and why i keep choosing recovery. she’s the voice in everyone’s head that says “no, maybe i didn’t deserve that.” she is the courage that makes women stand up to arrogant men and say “you’re wrong and i’m going to tell you why.” she is love. in all of its forms. she’s the fire that makes mothers go to war for their children, the connectedness of a friend group, and the sparkle in a lovers eye that makes you fall in love all over again. aphrodite is a wife, lover, friend, mother, sibling and protector. she is in all of us. she is with us, and we are with her.

and i’m so sorry that you fell for the violent misogyny, but guess what? it affects her too. you don’t think she’s been misrepresented and slandered? you don’t think people lie about her, drag her name through the mud?

people treat aphrodite the way they treat modern day women.

conform with everyone else’s bigotry if you want, but i for one (1), will love aphrodite as long as my heart will let me, and sing her praises until my lungs give out.

my daily routine with Aphrodite

i wake up and say good morning to her, i kneel and kiss her altar space or if i have extra time i sit with her for a few minutes

i leave for school

throughout my day i find small things to devote to her, like admiring myself in the mirror, telling my friends i love them, adding images to my pinterest, etc.

when i get home i always say hello and if i’m eating a snack she might like i’ll offer it

after i shower, i often apply lotion and brush my hair in front of her altar space

when i get free time, i light her candle and just sit with her, usually i read, draw, or watch tv during this

before bed is when i do the majority of offerings. i usually give a food item (usually chocolate or another candy) and i’ll often give a small poem, drawing, letter, etc. every night i spritz her space with perfume, as an offering but also because the smell reminds me of her

i always say goodnight to Lady Aphrodite when i get settled in

Deities don't like bigotry

I am just a mere mortal, and I can never claim to completely understand the likes and dislikes of almighty gods, but there's one things I am sure of, deities don't like bigots, bigotry, and any action or belief that harms other human beings.

Kindness, humanity, hospitality, and justice, they are valued in every belief, in every religion of this world.

Cruelty is rooted in arrogance. So is Hubris.

Do you really think that gods support your arrogant beliefs that can cause harm to those innocents who have done absolutely nothing to you?

Do you really think that your misogyny is not a slight against the patron deities of women?

Do you really think that your hatred against some forms of love is not a slight against the almighty gods that rule over love?

Do you really think that your bigotry and hatred against innocent people is not a hubristic slight against those very gods who watch over them?

Do you really believe that deities, who have 'Father' or 'Mother' among their many epithets, will ever support your unreasonable hatred against some of their beloved children?

Bigots aren't tolerated here, neither is Bigotry
