This Is Just All Wrong.
This is just all wrong.
Frist, in Biblical Hebrew the ending 'im' (ימ) is MASCULINE plural. Which could be its own discussion but the Scholarship is split so I won't go into that here.
Second, the word Elohim (אלהימ) is not "the name for the creative power in Genesis" it is a noun meaning 'god' or 'gods' and can refer to either the God of the Hebrews or false gods. It appears continuously in the Old Testament not just Genesis.
Thirdly, YHWH (יהןה) IS the name of God. And it doesn't appear much later it appears in Genesis 2 (and there are some suggestions as to why these chapters use different words for God but that's a different post).
'Al Shaddai' is actually 'el Shaddai' (אל שדד) the 'el' coming from 'elohim' and it means 'God Almighty'. While it does come later it is not a name for the God of the Bible.
The origin of the word Jehovah is very long but basically Jewish people would not say YHWH out loud and so would substitute the word 'adonai' (אדני) which means 'Lord' or 'Master' and can also refer to humans. Jehovah comes from the Latin of the Hebrew word that is produced when you take the vowels of 'adonai' and place them over the Hebrew letters YHWH. It is not a "mispronunciation" it is an evolution of a reading tradition.

Spiders outside my window
There are spiders outside my window,
They are hanging on their webs.
I know there are at least three,
Though one from my view ebbs.
They look as if they are floating,
Sat against the Belfast sky.
And here I sit and watch them.
My spider friends and I.
I have just seen a fourth one.
That’s one for every pane
Within my little window,
It’s like little picture frames.
Do you think they see me,
Looking at them all?
Do they wonder what I’m doing?
To them do I look tall?
Am I the only person,
That they have ever seen?
My room is on the third floor,
So where else could they have been?
I usually don't like Spiders,
But these onesa have made me think,
Have they seen me crying?
And do they know I think?
If they could write,
Do you suppose,
That they would write of me?
Some short songs or short prose,
That they had spun,
Like glorious webs
Born, like this poem,
From thoughts in their heads?
There are spiders outside my window.
Now I’ve counted five.
Do they know I watch them?
Do they know I’m alive?
But the thought that scares me most,
Terrifies me to no end,
Is that I think I see more spiders,
Then there are people I call ‘friend’.
First post!
I don't know what people do for their first posts on here so I'll just say some things about myself:
I'm 20 years old
I am currently in Uni studying Theology.
I like reading (primarily fiction) and have been writing for fun since I was about 13 or 14.
I don't think anything I've written is really publish-worthy so this is just a way to maybe get some feed back on things I have written, or just share for the sake of sharing (IDK).
I don't really know if this will reach anyone and I kind of feel like I'm talking to no one but that's fine. Anyway, I hope to be more active on this app than I have been and actually post something at some point.
