I opened a secret Facebook group dedicated to finding a third pronoun in Hebrew that will serve people who don’t feel comfortable with man and/or woman pronouns. This task is extra hard in hebrew because all verbs are either in man or woman form so I want as many hebrew...

For those wondering, the last image is the Hebrew letter "ז", which is sorta shorthand for the Hebrew equivalent of "dick". I'd like to go back in with some outlines and more color at some point, so it's a wip.

something happens, in the bible, when you get too close to death but re-turn anyway. this 'something' has a phrase: לֹ֣א נָכַר. it translates to "can't be recognized," "was not registered," something like that, but why translate it at all? keep it semiotic. keep it leaky, risky, muddy. in the bible, when god tells you to die but then lets you live anyway, you come back and are not recognizable. job is brought to the brink of death, and his friends לֹ֣א נָכַר him. jacob, about to lose his blessings, becomes לֹ֣א נָכַר to his father. joseph, mock-killed by his brothers, is too לֹ֣א נָכַר. moses comes down from spending 40 days with god. becomes לֹ֣א נָכַר. you can't translate what these men looked like after they didn't-die. their didn't-dying is above register; it, in and of itself, cannot be recognized. sometimes god tries to kill you and you live. and you'll only know it once you see it

Jumblr, there's another big part of E's stuff I haven't gone through yet that y'all are probably going to enjoy.

In addition to all the books I've already documented, he had a HUGE collection of vinyl records. These are now in my possession.

And there are quite a few Hebrew and Jewish-themed records in there!

My next big project will be cleaning those up and then, if I can, record videos of some of these records so everybody can hear them!

In 2024, Israel has one dialect. One pronunciation. Which makes things so much easier! 😃

Some people pronounce Hebrew words in Yiddish or using other dialects or pronunciations.

My expertise in teaching you Hebrew as it is used by Israelis in Israel, today... the one dialect / pronunciation we have in Israel of 2024 🇮🇱

Part 1: Documenting the covers

(This is what I found after going through about half the collection. I know there are Barbra Streisand vinyls as well as an Eartha Kitt single of her singing "Hevenu shalom aleichem" which aren't depicted here, but it'll happen, I swears.)

A lot of these records are in a rough state. They weren't all stored very well, and the house they were in was extremely dusty/sandy (welcome to southern Spain). You can see stains and moldiness on some of the sleeves. More cheerfully, you can see some of them have pen marking and notes on the sleeves indicating favorite songs and the like.

Are they worth anything? Probably not monetarily. But if I can get 'em to play, they'll be priceless.

Kindness Is Like The Gentle Touch Of Sunlight On Your Face Or A Warm Embrace When You Most Need It.

Kindness is like the gentle touch of sunlight on your face or a warm embrace when you most need it.

It's not just an action but a state of being, a way of interacting with the world.

Kindheartedness goes beyond mere niceties; it reflects the depth of one's empathy and compassion.

It's like having an internal compass that always points toward love and understanding.

When you are faced with it, you can feel it instantly. It's radiating a type of warmth that makes you feel at ease. You are listened to without judgment, offered help without expecting anything in return. You feel seen and heard.

Kindneds has this unique ability to turn ordinary moments into meaningful experiences.

Being kindhearted also means being kind to yourself.

It's easy to extend compassion to others, but sometimes we're our own harshest critics.

True kindheartedness starts within, fostering self-love and self-care.

When you treat yourself with the same compassion you offer others, you not only nourish your own soul, but you also create a well of empathy and understanding to draw from when helping others.

In a world that often feels chaotic and indifferent, kindness serves as a beacon of hope.

It has a ripple effect, impacting not just the recipient but also the giver and everyone who witnesses it.

So let's celebrate kindheartedness, not just as a trait but as a way of life.

It's more than just being nice; it's about fostering a world where empathy and compassion are the norm, not the exception.

And remember, each act of kindness, no matter how small, helps create a better world for all of us.

This is just all wrong.

Frist, in Biblical Hebrew the ending 'im' (ימ) is MASCULINE plural. Which could be its own discussion but the Scholarship is split so I won't go into that here.

Second, the word Elohim (אלהימ) is not "the name for the creative power in Genesis" it is a noun meaning 'god' or 'gods' and can refer to either the God of the Hebrews or false gods. It appears continuously in the Old Testament not just Genesis.

Thirdly, YHWH (יהןה) IS the name of God. And it doesn't appear much later it appears in Genesis 2 (and there are some suggestions as to why these chapters use different words for God but that's a different post).

'Al Shaddai' is actually 'el Shaddai' (אל שדד) the 'el' coming from 'elohim' and it means 'God Almighty'. While it does come later it is not a name for the God of the Bible.

The origin of the word Jehovah is very long but basically Jewish people would not say YHWH out loud and so would substitute the word 'adonai' (אדני) which means 'Lord' or 'Master' and can also refer to humans. Jehovah comes from the Latin of the Hebrew word that is produced when you take the vowels of 'adonai' and place them over the Hebrew letters YHWH. It is not a "mispronunciation" it is an evolution of a reading tradition.

// TW bullimia regarding Reva from ''my year of rest and relaxation "

Reva is bullimic and Jewish. If you say the word 'Reva' with a Hebrew tonation, it sounds like the word 'Re-e-va' , which means 'hungry' in female form.

A fun little Hebrew fact of the day.
