This was unexpected to say the least. . . . Eric nervously adjusted his rounded glasses, clearing his throat. He knew how low the chances of getting together with you was. You were so adventurous and out there. You spoke your mind and aren’t afraid of everyone. Eric, however, was shy and so introverted to the point he sometimes feared your loud and happy personality. The chances of you liking him were low in his mind. You carefully walked on the rocks by the river, a large grin on your face as Eric walked on the ground next to. Neither of you wanted him to walk on the walks with you, but for different reasons. You were afraid it’d mess up his prosthetics or he’d fall and get hurt, Eric was afraid of falling and embarrassing himself. You liked Eric a lot, he was nice to hang around and you found him pretty cute. He sometimes coward away from you, though, which understandable upset you. Have you done something wrong? Or was he afraid of you? You didn’t know and didn’t bother asking, afraid of the answer. “Um, (Y/N) is, is, that s-safe? Not, not judging you, o-of course!” Eric fumbled with his yellow cloth for a moment, he didn’t want to seem like he was judging you or your actions. He was just afraid of you falling in the river, the water was flowing awfully quickly after all. You giggled at him. He was always so cautious and sweet. You truly did love the boy.

“I’ll be fine, Eri! Don’t worry, I’m being more careful than usual!” You defended your action. You knew the consequences of falling into the river was nothing TOO BAD, after all you’ve fallen in before. You broke your arm and got a stern talking to from Dr. Iplier. And then, after leaving the clinic, Dark too. You knew they were just trying to protect you but god, can’t the Ipliers act like parents sometimes. Except for Wilford, he encouraged your behavior.

You noticed Eric still looked nervous and sighed softly. As much as you loved him, he could be overly tense. You couldn’t blame him, though. You knew he was just afraid of you facing the same fate as his brothers and mother. You always felt so saddened thinking about his past or the way his dad had treated him. You hated how Derek still was allowed to live with the other egos. You teased the idea of killing him multiple times, but never attempted knowing how much Eric cared about him. Derek was his only family left after all.

“Hey, Eric?” you asked, glancing over at him as you stopped walking. He flinched harshly, afraid you were upset with him by the seriousness in your voice. “Y-yes, (Y/N)?” He was shaking like a leaf, his hands twisting in his yellow cloth as he dared look you in the eyes. Eric had always become afraid when someone spoke seriously. You were no different. You looked behind you, across the river, before looking back at Eric. “Are you scared of me?”  You looked distressed, your eyebrows furrowed with a small frown on your face. He hated seeing you upset. “I. . . no, no, no, no! Not at all! It’s um it’s just. . . it’s just sometimes your um actions w-worry me and and and I get concerned f-for your safety. A-a-and I always get get um get scared when someone t-talks in in a serious t-tone towards t-towards me,” he told the truth, his hands squeezing and twisting his cloth. He didn’t want to upset you in anyway. You stepped off the rocks and stood in front of the shaky boy before reaching out and hugging him. He tensed for a second before hesitatingly hugging you back. He enjoyed being this close, he really did, but he was afraid of somehow making you upset or hurting you (which would never happen). “You know I really care about you, right Eric?” you spoke softly into his chest. He flushed, blushing up to his ears. He hesitated before nodding. Much to his disappointment, you pulled away, looking up at him. You had a soft blush on your face that made you look absolutely adorable. You leaned up, giving a soft peck on the cheek. His entire face went bright and he hid his face in his hands, not believing that you had just done that. You giggled.“Come on! Let’s go back and get some ice cream!”
