That First Jon And Dany Meeting Really Has The Potential To Be The Funniest Bait And Switch Ever. Everyone
that first jon and dany meeting really has the potential to be the funniest bait and switch ever. everyone freaking out ab the long awaited romantique destined icefire meeting and it’s just pages upon pages of fruitful political theory borne of two crazy-ass teenagers finally having someone to bounce off of. put those bitches in a room for an hour and they’re gonna come out with the westerosi equivalent to state and revolution. “someone finally ~understands me~” and the understanding in question is in being a complete radical in a slave based continent and xenophobic penal colony respectively.

SNOWSTORM SUMMER 2022 ↳ A Game of Thrones and A Dance With Dragons Parallel
“Please, please, Viserys, I don’t want to, I want to go home.” - Daenerys I, A Game of Thrones
Bring her home, Mance. I saved your son from Melisandre, and now I am about to save four thousand of your free folk. You owe me this one little girl. - Jon XI, A Dance With Dragons
“I’d let his whole khalasar f-ck you if need be, sweet sister, all forty thousand men, and their horses too if that was what it took to get my army. - Daenerys I, A Game of Thrones
Would she still have that little sword he’d had Mikken forge for her? Stick them with the pointy end, he’d told her. Wisdom for her wedding night if half of what he heard of Ramsay Snow was true. - Jon XI, A Dance With Dragons
MAIN CLUES THAT POINT TO DAENERYS TARGARYEN AS AZOR AHAI/PRINCE THAT WAS PROMISED
GRRM: Fire is love, fire is passion, fire is sexual ardor and all of these things. Ice is betrayal, ice is revenge, ice is… you know, that kind of cold inhumanity and all that stuff is being played out in the books.
~
GRRM: Well, of course, the two outlying ones — the things going on north of the Wall, and Daenerys Targaryen on the other continent with her dragons — are of course the ice and fire. of the title, “A Song of Ice and Fire.”
~
Viserys I on House of the Dragon [note that Aegon I’s prophecy came from GRRM himself]: Aegon saw absolute darkness riding on those winds, and whatever dwells within will destroy the world of the living. When this great winter comes, Rhaenyra, all of Westeros must stand against it. And if the world of men is to survive, a Targaryen must be seated on the Iron Throne. A king or queen strong enough to unite the realm against the cold and the dark. Aegon called his dream ‘The Song of Ice and Fire.’
+ bonus:
In a Game of Thrones video about the religions of Westeros, GRRM confirmed that Azor Ahai and Prince that Was Promised are one and the same (and not two different prophecies about two different saviors) when he says that the prince that was promised will receive Lightbringer as a token from R'hllor. Hence why the gifset collects evidence showing that Dany is Azor Ahai and Prince That Was Promised.
D&D confirmed in Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon: Game of Thrones and the Unofficial Untold Story of the Epic Series that show!Arya killing the Night King was an original, last minute decision made for the sake of shock value that 1) highlights how fickle they were (since they even considered to have a non-POV character like Sandor Clegane save the day) and 2) will have no bearing on the ASOIAF books. This is especially interesting considering 1) the fact that Jon killing Dany was also D&D’s idea, 2) the book foreshadowing for Dany being AA/PTWP, 3) GRRM having previously disproven a theory about Dany burning a place and suggesting that she’s not involved in the second dance of the dragons (which makes it unlikely that she will ever burn KL in the books) and 4) GRRM saying that he’s moving forward with his 1991 ending (which is noteworthy because Dany survives in his 1993 outline). All in all, every book related evidence suggests that Dany will continue to be written as a heroic figure in A Song of Ice and Fire.
my most favourite ever girl
i also have to say that AGoT’s last line being “…and for the first time in hundreds of years, the night came alive with the music of dragons.” really sold the series for me. first because i just think it’s a beautiful line. also, it’s a huge Oh Shit moment. like this is clearly a big thing that is going to change the world. also ofc the Parallels with the prologue, where the Others have returned…ice and fire, always….
but more importantly it’s such a strong statement on the themes of hope and rebirth. dany walked into drogo’s pyre thinking she had lost everything—she has no brother, no husband, no son. and she rises out of it with dragons. her new children. and a new purpose in life…she goes through a lot of character growth throughout all of AGoT, but walking into the pyre and emerging unscathed changes her…she no longer views her destiny as being the sister/wife/mother of a man who will restore the throne or whatever. she’s going to do that herself now….lots of thoughts and feelings
