considering how many people from the north / sworn to starks / related to them betrayed starks in the past and how many people from the south saved them, it's really ironic how they could not trust daenerys "because she's not one of them"

Why does Sansa have that attitude towards Daenerys when she asks her "what do dragons EAT anyways?"

I mean, what the hell is her problem? What does she expect Daenerys to say, grass? air?

Last time I checked, it was them who went to Daenerys for help because they needed her dragons. So, what's with this bitter superiority attitude of Sansa? Seriously, I find her incredibly unpleasant.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BOOK!DANY AND SHOW!DANY— Dany and Hizdahr's conversation at Daznak's Pit

TL;DR: the show-only scene makes Dany seem misguided and potentially dangerous and tries to cast doubt on her moral compass, while the book-only scene written by George R. R. Martin showcases Dany's persistent effort to protect the ones who can't protect themselves.

On HBO: the writers created an entirely original scene in order to paint Dany as someone potentially willing to use indiscriminate violence to achieve her goals, while Hizdahr is portrayed as the more cautious figure who defends the tradition of the fighting pits for the sake of Meereen's cultural identity and continuity.

In the books: Dany is shown to be empathetic and protective of the marginalized. She imposes strict conditions to ensure that only willing participants fight in the pits and immediately steps in to stop the needless deaths of (unbeknownst to her) Tyrion and Penny. Meanwhile, Hizdahr shows no regard for the dwarfs' consent or well-being. His attempt to circumvent Dany's anti-slavery measures in order to force two vulnerable and unwilling slaves to fight against lions serves as a critique of the Ghiscari nobles, who readily perpetuate cruelty and oppression for the sake of their entertainment.

So dany, who spent seven 7 protecting innocents, who didn't go to attack the red keep because she heard her advisord and she could hurm innocents, who went to the north to protect the people, qho fought for the living in ep3, now suddenly hear bells and start killimg innocents? What's this shit? It doesn't make sense!

y’know…i love how GOT never mentioned the fact that rhaella crowned viserys after aerys and rhaegar died therefore making dany the heir once he passed. all the lords may not have accepted it when a male claimant was around but there would’ve been a fair argument in favor of dany rightfully being the heir to the throne. but nooooooo. got needed jon to be the rightful heir 100% for ~drama~ and ~conflict~ between him and dany that would’ve easily been solved by a simple marriage proposal involving two people who already loved each other.

hell, who’s to say the lords would’ve even accepted the annulment of rhaegar and elia’s marriage (especially when it was consumated). dorne would probably be like fuck that. so even if jon was legitmate based on that annulment, the lords of westeros could’ve been like hmmm nope and jon would again be a bastard to them thus making dany the rightful heir still. and again even if there was division about who it should actually be A MARRIAGE WOULD’VE SOLVED FUCKING EVERYTHING.

How do you people who are on reddit, keep your blood pressure from rising. Stupid thread defending stupid writers, almost worshipping the choice of putting Tywin at Harrenhal as peak TV, "chaos is a ladder" is apparently not a sign of hack writing. Look, look at this shit down below. I hate, absolutely hate those neutral readers and dudebros who are in the fandom.

I will forever standby my observation that most fans ( both of books and of show) wouldn't have minded the adaptation, had Jon and Dany been given their dues. And this isn't me bitching about these two characters, not at all, but this fandom always had the propensity to shoo away nuance and to reduce many of the other characters ( yes I am talking about my fave) to mere tropes, rather than to sit and reflect. Which is why the show didn't get called stupid this resoundingly before season 8. Had it ended the way it was predicted to be, the influence of the show would have been carried on into book discussions even by those who are as of now hardcore show antis ( before season 8, I had heard things like "yeah well even though Arya is one of the big fives, she isn't really the main character of the series, why would the details matter" :) )

This is the reason why there are still polls where Jaqen and Sandor are given more importance than Ned or Jon in Arya's storyline.

You know why Dany’s haters are so loud?

Because Daenerys Targaryen is one of the most, if not the most, iconic character from got/asoiaf. D&D used her & her dragons for the show’s brand, and to market it as the most popular franchise in the world. 

Because Dany is the most popular character worldwide. 

Because ruining Dany’s character and turning her into the final villain of the show ruined all the other characters. Because the last three episodes of season eight were the lowest rated of the show, and got s8 was the lowest rated season of the show in its history. Because the poor ratings of s8 dragged down the overall critic rating and audience score of the show, which were once both in the high 90′s. In other words: Dracarys, bitch. If you take Dany down, she’s taking the rest of you down with her. 

Because so many people, from hardcore Dany fans, to local show viewers, to loyal book-only fans, to random celebrities, to people who haven’t even watched the show or read the books, commented on how OOC and awful her ending was. 

Because Emilia Clarke still stands by Daenerys, and was devastated when she learned how her character’s arc would end. Because Kit Harington turned bright red and started crying when he learned about Dany’s fate. Because both of them wandered around depressed after they read the final script.

Because fans of Dany/Emilia successfully channeled their grief and rage at the ending through positive means by raising 100,000 pounds for Emilia’s charity that is dedicated to brain injuries. 

Because thousands of women and girls, especially those who have survived trauma, abuse, or violence, were heartbroken and distraught after they saw how Dany’s arc ended. 

Because George R. R. Martin stated that Daenerys, along with Jon, Arya, Tyrion, and Bran, is one of his key five characters whose arcs he has plotted out from the beginning. 

Because George R. R. Martin stated that Tyrion is his favorite character, and Arya and Dany are his second favorite characters. 

Because critics ripped into the last season and the last episode, with a particular focus on how the show ruined Dany. Because feminist media journalists analyzed how the show is sending a dangerous message about women, trauma, power, and gender. Because renowned marxist philosopher Slavoj Zizek was somehow roused from, I don’t know, doing whatever he does to write a scathing review of the final episode of s8. 

Because Emilia Clarke’s phenomenal performance is getting the most praise and attention, and all eyes are on her. Because people can’t stand that she’s getting the praise she deserves and Dany haters are enraged that Emilia stands by the character she’s played for 10 years, the character who helped save her life, they’re hating on her now as well. 

Because youtube film and tv critics have made both funny and insightful videos deconstructing how poorly Dany was treated and how awful this season was. 

Because cast members have to keep incessantly badmouthing Dany in every interview they’re in even though they’re promoting their own movies. 

Because iconic celebrities such as Beyoncé, Jason Momoa, Mindy Kaling, Lupita Nyong’o, Snoop Dogg, and Janelle Monáe love her. 

Because Dany is such an amazing character with a beautiful arc, people who despise her will continue to violently hate on her, even as they steal canon quotes said by her or about her, and use it for their favorite characters or for their “feminist” got ladies gifsets while excluding her; even as they steal canon jonerys quotes and use it for their ships; even while they badmouth House Targaryen and then use canon Targaryen quotes for their favorite character or house’s gifsets; even while they come up with intricate theories detailing how their faves will steal Dany’s dragons and armies from her and gain power after killing her; because they can never shut up about her, even if their faves are healthy and happy and alive. 

Daenerys is so fucking iconic and so beloved and so memorable and so complex and so inspiring that when the showrunners ruined her, she dragged the whole show down with her. The franchise would be nothing without her, and people, especially her most vocal haters, know it. Do they acknowledge it, or will they ever acknowledge it? No, but it remains true that she is the real heart of this series, and nothing, no one, can take that away. 

This is so beautiful. If only D&D didn' hate fantasy.

I constantly think about how show!Dany never got a saddle for the spiky dragon she was sitting on... girl I’m so sorry for everything your coochie was forced to go through. I would’ve snapped too

when got was coming out i was still giving them credit and really hoping someone would have a conversation about why tyrion and company was so shocked when dany burned 'civilized lords' alive and not when she did it to 'savage slavers'. bc u know, the overall shock all characters in westeros have to dany doing the minimum (and i mean minimum bc she wasnt even trying to dismantle feudalism, just conquering the throne like all other kings tried) is rooted not just on sexism, like so many ppl talked about, but also racism. feudalism was a garbage serf system but bc the ruling class was a bunch of perfumed lords, ppl dont see it as for it truly was: exploitation of the working class, like all other previous and subsequent western systems.

of course, its unfair to compare it to slavery purely, since slavery is also influenced by race and not only class system. but in media, in show, even in book, the jump readers and characters have to accept dany burning slavers but not the lords, comes from eurocentric expectations that they know civilized ways and everything else outside their status quo is savagery. when their systems are also fucked up, and rooted in absurd shit that should not be acceptable, even in comparison.
