i’ll share this one last tidbit because i’m scared to get hunted down by the government, but i trust tumblr anyway- but there already have been rumors of people getting redtagged in the philippines for being vocal about this elections
what’s redtagging? wikipedia describes it as “the malicious blacklisting of individuals or organizations critical or not fully supportive of the actions of a sitting government administration in the country.” redtagging is used to mark down names of activists or, honestly, anyone opposing the government’s beliefs for potential arrests, or in worst case scenarios, extrajudicial killings.
this has been happening in the philippines for a long time, but it’s only recently reemerged during the reign of duterte. while i can’t compile all redtagging cases, here’s an example thread i made last year that highlighted some cases from april-may. it can give you the gist of how it works. and with the suppression of press freedom (google maria ressa, ceo of rappler, a filipino news site, who got arrested. she was eventually awarded the nobel peace prize for speaking out), there are many redtagging cases that are not spoken about. a friend from a certain university has talked to me about many of their classmates immediately being targeted. many filipinos are in danger
and i’m already hearing that the gov is trying to redtag more people who are just VOCAL about this elections. i was not even gonna post this because i was scared something’ll happen, but i think people deserve to know what’s going on before i stop posting about stuff completely.
freedom of speech is a privilege in the philippines. now that sara duterte, daughter of the current president, is going to head the department of education, it’s important to continue uplifting, supporting, and sharing news and posts by filipinos. bbm is a son of a dictator tyrant who murdered and tortured tens of thousands, and they will revise our history books despite years of fighting against them.
again, we are risking our lives trying to post about this, so if you see any post about the elections, it’s important to stay informed. it’s important to get mad at our government on our behalf because at some point, we won’t be able to. here’s some good posts i’ve found that summarize the elections/the marcos family’s wrongdoings pretty well (1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5). and if you have the audacity to go “why the hell are filipinos so stupid to vote for this man?” please read this.
and when marcos gets fully instated, i want you to cause a ruckus, a riot. we can’t let another marcos and duterte ruin our country once again.
how do i tell the nurse at the covid center who was shoving the devil sticks up my nose and was profusely apologizing the whole time that it’s not her fault i’m a moron and she’s doing just fine WITHOUT telling her this
they put stickers on it, and/or it’s a butterfly knife, they told me themselves
The actual funniest thing about the way Deltarune Chapter 2 start isn’t even how it confirmed the “KRIS IS JUST GONNA SLICE THEMSELF A PIECE OF PIE IT’S FINE IT’S FINE EVERYTHING’S FINE” theory after three whole years of speculations (I mean, that is still pretty funny)
But the funniest thing is this:

This isn’t just some random knife they snuck in from the kitchen to eat pie and summon Dark Fountains, it’s specifically THEIR knife, and it’s a knife Toriel can recognize at a glance. It’s just a known and accepted fact in the household that Kris has their own personal trademark knife.
It’s just… this is the knife of Kris, the knife that belongs specifically to Kris, Kris’ knife. And considering how they pulled it seemingly out of nowhere in the ending to both chapters, it seems likely that -despite never showing up as an Item - Kris just carries this knife everywhere and everyone just had to learn to accept it. It’s their Emotional Support Knife.
When I was around 13-ish, I went to my first anime/comic convention. Ofc, I wasn’t cosplaying anything, and I was just walking around with a friend and shopping around the different stands.
Then, from the corner of my eye I see this clearly older than me girl, and looking back on it, she couldn’t have been more than like... 5′9. (Note, I was 5′4, maybe even a little smaller).
But to me she just seemed like a fucking giantess. She was so tall that it stood out to me immediately. She was so tall I felt like I could get cramps trying to look at her. It seemed like she towered over everybody at the con, which wasn’t really the case, but she was tall enough to me that it seemed like that was the case. This was pre-covid, and she was wearing one of those cotton masks with cute expressions on them. She was wearing it upside down.
I hurriedly made my way over to her like a little duckie following his mother goose. She witnessed me, the small gnome running in the crowd, took her headphones off and bent eloquently to the ground, at LEAST 90 degrees. I told her her mask was upside down. She was so embarrassed, she thanked me and turned it around.
I felt so accomplished. I felt like those little birds that eat the food off of crocodiles’ teeth. Like a little useless garden gnome telling the bloodthirsty orc that there was an eyelash on their cheek. I have accomplished many feats in my ripe old age of 18, I have gotten many diplomas and have been distinguished many times, but never again will I feel such immense pride as when I did the barest of minimum for this extremely tall lady. I will never feel such competency and that I mattered so much as when I helped this one extremely (to me) tall person out.
