She Doesn't Want To Start A Lawsuit But It Doesn't Seem Right To Be So Harsh With Catherine Of Aragon
She doesn't want to start a lawsuit but it doesn't seem right to be so harsh with Catherine of Aragon for refusing the annulment. To begin with, I consider it extremely justifiable to refuse to go to a convent so that your husband can replace you with a younger woman, but also Mary was going to being declared a bastard, which means not having the right to the throne of England, no longer being a princess and lowering her price on the European marriage market. Henry VIII never assured her that Mary would remain a princess and that she would remain his heir if she did not have a son. Catherine must also have thought that Mary, having a mother with such important dynastic connections, was going to be a threat with or without annulment, and she already knew how Henry VIII acts with imaginary or real threats. We only assume that Henry would be generous and leave Mary in her current position if her mother relented but the reality is that there is no record of that, on the contrary Henry always insisted that Mary was a mere illegitimate daughter with no right to the throne, a lady not a princess and when he was forced to put her in succession to the throne he made it clear that she and Elizabeth were going to be after the children he could have with Katherine Parr. Mary's life was always going to be unhappy with a father like Henry VIII.
A royal speech pulling at everyone’s heartstrings
On the 21th of June 1529, Catherine of Aragon spoke her famous speech at the Legatine Court at Blackfriars. After years of Henry VIII’s unsuccessful attempts to annul his union with Catherine, Cardinal Wolsey convened an ecclesiastical court in England with a representative of the Pope presiding – Cardinal Campeggio. The Papal Legatine court was held to determine whether the king’s first marriage was legal and valid.

Catherine of Aragon appearing before the Legatine Court at Blackfriars in 1529
The monarch was the first to speak to the court and people. Despite his burning desire to get rid of his consort, he cheered her as she entered. Then Henry pronounced a speech about his “love” for his wife, stressing that his conscience was badly troubled over the fact that he had married his elder brother’s widow. The faux sweetness of his tone must have been obvious, for he was so obsessed with Anne Boleyn at the time that he wanted Catherine out of his life forever.
However, the court at Blackfriars turned quite surprising for Henry. His queen circumvented the king’s plans by appealing directly to her royal spouse in the most dramatic way that made all those in attendance sympathetic to her cause, whether she told the truth or lied.
According to contemporary sources, Catherine said:
“Sir, I beseech you for all the love that hath been between us, and for the love of God, let me have justice. Take of me some pity and compassion, for I am a poor woman, and a stranger born out of your dominion. I have here no assured friends, and much less impartial counsel…
Alas! Sir, wherein have I offended you, or what occasion of displeasure have I deserved?… I have been to you a true, humble and obedient wife, ever comfortable to your will and pleasure, that never said or did any thing to the contrary thereof, being always well pleased and contented with all things wherein you had any delight or dalliance, whether it were in little or much. I never grudged in word or countenance, or showed a visage or spark of discontent. I loved all those whom ye loved, only for your sake, whether I had cause or no, and whether they were my friends or enemies. This twenty years or more I have been your true wife and by me ye have had divers children, although it hath pleased God to call them out of this world, which hath been no default in me…
When ye had me at first, I take God to my judge, I was a true maid, without touch of man. And whether it be true or no, I put it to your conscience. If there be any just cause by the law that ye can allege against me either of dishonesty or any other impediment to banish and put me from you, I am well content to depart to my great shame and dishonour. And if there be none, then here, I most lowly beseech you, let me remain in my former estate… Therefore, I most humbly require you, in the way of charity and for the love of God – who is the just judge – to spare me the extremity of this new court, until I may be advised what way and order my friends in Spain will advise me to take. And if ye will not extend to me so much impartial favour, your pleasure then be fulfilled, and to God I commit my cause!”
Just imagine! Catherine stood on her knees before Henry as she gave the speech of her life. It was a posture of absolute submission to her husband, but not surrender to his wishes. Had this speech been prepared in advance by Catherine? Had she planned to make it so emotional?

Catherine’s dramatic speech before Henry VIII and the Legatine Court
Catherine was a very educated and smart woman, who was truly a political animal. She was destined to become herself as a daughter of Isabella of Castile and Ferdinand of Aragon. The purpose of planning a speech is to discover what should be said to an audience so that it has the most profound impact possible; preparation is also necessary to learn what should be omitted from the completed speech. I believe that Catherine had made every effort to ensure that at the court, her speech would be so moving that it would pull at everyone’s heartstrings.
Henry gave his stubborn consort the option of entering a convent. At the time, history knew precedents of royal annulments. In 1498, Louis XII of France had claimed that his first spouse, Joan of France, was physically deformed, which had prevented him from consummating their union. His marriage to Joan had been childless. Louis had needed a fertile young wife (Anne of Brittany) to bear him sons in order to secure the Valois line, which had become highly important after the death of Charles VIII of France. At first, Joan had resisted this charge, but the Pope had granted the annulment. Then Joan had stepped aside and turned to the spiritual life.
Nevertheless, Catherine of Aragon seems to have never considered allowing Henry to marry Anne or any other woman. Could Catherine act differently? Her strong opposition to Henry’s annulment was caused by her steadfast desire to remain his wife for the rest of her life. She seems to have believed that it was her destiny to be Queen of England. She defended her right for the crown, as well as her daughter’s right to inherit the Tudor throne. If only Catherine had gone to a convent, how everything would have been different for England and for Henry, as well as for Mary Tudor, who could have been much happier in this case than she was in history.

Catherine and Arthur, Princes of Wales (from the Spanish Princess Series)
Had Catherine really been a virgin when she had married Henry? Or had she consummated her marriage to Arthur, Princes of Wales, before his death in 1502? The subject of Arthur’s health has been debated by historians over the years: some say that he might have been sickly, while others suppose that he had been a robust, healthy young man. Regardless of his health, Arthur was old enough to have reached his puberty by the time of his wedding to Catherine at the age of 15. Although the couple had been subjected to a standard bedding ceremony, later Catherine swore that she had never known Arthur carnally. Many historians and fans claim that Catherine’s famous piety proves the truth of her words, for such a religious woman could not endanger her immortal soul by lying. But wasn’t Catherine her parents’ daughter? The truth is shrouded in mystery.

I've read, and seen, several comments saying that Vlad and Dimitri should have made Anya wear a white dress instead of a blue one to look more like Anastasia to the Dowager Empress. But what if Anya refused to wear a white dress and chose the blue dress instead? Maybe she herself recognized that she could no longer be the same carefree girl she used to be after the death of her family, preferring to be recognized by her only living relative because of who she had become instead of looking like a ghost from the past.
Thanks for answering my question. Since I saw your art, the idea of a Sheikah-looking Princess Zelda invaded my mind, the reason is that after Link, the Sheikah are the closest guardians to the royal family so it always seemed curious to me that there were no romance and children, unlike the sword hero who is too implicit. I feel like it's a wasted opportunity that Lintendo never thought about this hypothetical princess. Because the concept of a girl who, because of her appearance, breaks cycles of tradition in the eyes of the royal family of Hyrule is very interesting. Reading about Sheik's suffering over her hair made me think that my Zelda would not be treated well for the sin of being the first incarnation of the non-blonde winged goddess. I think that while her parents (king/queen and Sheikah warrior) had a wonderful childhood as a princess but as soon as they both died and the mark of the triforce of wisdom appeared, things quickly went to hell. Her relatives, Hyrulans obsessed with tradition, did not accept that she was the new reincarnation of Hylian because she was not blonde like the previous reincarnations. As darkness invaded the kingdom and the people prayed for the arrival of their goddess, the royal family would try to use blonde dye and lightening eye drops on Zelda but Grandma Impa with her katana (Think Mizu from Blue eye samurai) would prevent her. those rare substances were close to his precious granddaughter. The situation would escalate to the point that the royal family would decide to announce that another blonde, blue-eyed princess was Hylian and would force Zelda to pass off her divine powers as the powers of that other princess to maintain the deception. That would be the last straw for Impa, and she would proceed to escape with her granddaughter in a scene worthy of Mission: Impossible. Taking with them, holy relics: The Harp of the Goddess, the Bow of Light, the Sheikah Tablet and the Ocarina of Time.
Impa would train her granddaughter in the Sheikah martial arts, until she came of age to claim her throne, while Zelda witnesses how the unity that her parents tried to bring back was broken by her relatives. her.
I hope to know more about your Hilda, seeing her so sad and hiding behind a veil, made me so sad and tender. I hope she doesn't suffer so much for being different, but I fear that she will be forced to hide her Sheikah heritage from her or abused in such a way that she herself chooses to hide from her, she deserves the world.
Hi! Nice to meet you. I adore your story and drawings, but seeing the story of Sheik and everything he went through for being a non-blonde boy who received the blessing of one of the goddesses and the triforce of wisdom, made me wonder what would happen if there was a female Zelda reincarnation of Hylia but looking more Sheikah than Hylian (you know silver hair instead of blonde and eyes that can be red or a mixture of purple instead of blue), suppose it's because her mother is Sheikah and Impa is her grandmother? How would the royal family treat her?Sorry to bother you with that but my brain couldn't help but wonder.

SORRY. IT TOOK SO LONG FOR ME TO ANSWER THIS IS THINK TUMBLR IS GLITCHED?? It’s tweaking. Like genuinely tweaking. Anyways.
It’s funny because this is kinda lowkey the lore I have for Hilda in Shadow Over Hyrule. Kinda. A little. She’s the illegitimate child of the Hylian Queen after a fling with a Sheikah guy. But I had an excuse to show a character and GODDAMMIT IM GONNA SHOW HER because I think she deserves the world.<3
anyways. To answer your question my friend. I think that the entire prospect changes when you put Impa in the position of grandma because holy shit. So much stuff that happened to sheik would NOT happen to this hypothetical princess. The Queen wouldn’t even try to pull any bleach shit. Because Impa would be IN THERE DUDE. she would not put up with ANYTHING. It’d be OVER. More under the cut
Overall though I think it would change a lot. The reason that Sheik’s hair was bleached is because their hair was black, which, you know, the Royal family has weird connotations with “darkness”. Kinda like zeldatubers. It’s almost like none of the events of Twilight Princess ever happened. “Light is nothing without darkness, they are two sides of the same coin and when isolated everything becomes one-dimensional.” “So dark evil. I understand.” If they had grey hair, I don’t think they would react the same. The red eyes though? Probably a different story. Idk. Anyways sorry for yapping but I love hypotheticals!!
I have mixed feelings about Simón Newton, on the one hand he is an abuser of women with a gambling addiction, but on the other hand he is basically mentally raped by his ex so that he is complicit in the theft of a painting at his work, allied with criminals willing to torture him . I honestly believe that Elizabeth's revenge is disproportionate retribution, Simon hurt her very seriously, and he deserved to pay for his abuse of her, but why didn't he report it to the authorities? I think it was largely because he would have to confess that he had had an affair with his patient, breaking with his ethics. So Elizabeth chooses not to face the consequences of her decision to fuck her patient, if she decided to report Simon's abuse to the police. Instead, he violates her ethics even more by using hypnosis to erase Simon's memories of her. This doesn't sound too bad. Who wouldn't have the power to erase our existence from the mind of an abusive ex-boyfriend? But later it was revealed that she also ordered him to steal a painting and deliver it to her. At the scene of the robbery, we saw many people fleeing, several ended up falling to the ground and being stepped on by the other people who were trying to escape, they were probably injured at best. While Simon is suffering a mental breakdown thanks to Frank's brainwashing + beating, he mistakes a simple motorist for her ex-girlfriend, killing her. That poor woman about whom we know nothing, she was just lucky enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and tried to help a stranger she accidentally ran over, has just paid with her life for a love affair between two perfect strangers. We do not know if Simon was capable of committing murder before the brainwashing, he showed a clear inclination towards violence in his romantic relationship with Elizabeth and in his fantasies of murdering Frank and his gang. But he went from hitting his girlfriend and gambling, to having a body count of 4 or 5. Throughout the final scene he seemed to be in the middle of a mental breakdown, and when he is killed by Elizabeth, he doesn't seem to be in touch with reality. Did Simon really deserve to die or did he desperately need psychiatric help after being hypnotized and going through so much stress? Is Elizabeth just a mere victim who empowers herself by taking revenge on her abuser or an unethical therapist who, after her affair with her patient turned abusive, would seek not only escape but also revenge but not wanting to face any consequences for it? his bad decisions until the end? At the end of the movie Elizabeth gives Frank the choice of forgetting her or remembering her, it sounds good but it shows that she hasn't learned the lesson of not getting into people's heads because you can worsen her mental state, and hurt other innocent people.
El canto del pajaro - Chapter 1 - FlaStar13 - Multifandom [Archive of Our Own]
Hello everyone, this is my first ballad of songbirds and snakes fanfic. It's an au, in which Lucy Gray's harvest song is uploaded to a Spotify-like platform and becomes a rage, to the point where Coriolanus is forced to bring it to the Capitol. I hope you like it, it is in Spanish my language.
❤️🌹Snowbaird Wedding Dress 🐍❤️🌹🐦⬛

Remembering that Katniss' wedding dress in the movie is based on designer Tex Saverio, I saw some of his designs when I noticed this dress. It is coded as the wedding dress from the Snowbaird wedding at the Capitol. Lucy Gray would have preferred her mother's dress, but she is in District 12 and Coriolanus wants to show off how rich and powerful they are, so he ordered Tigris to design it.
I have headcanon that in both the movie and the book, he chose Katniss' wedding dress, because this man is a frustrated wedding planner.
Just look at the roses on the skirt, they scream Lucy Gray Snow!
