Ethari grew out his hair because he looks in the mirror and closes his eyes, imagining the soft strands that drape over his neck to be Runaan's, his eyes already wet with tears. If he cut his hair, it would be cutting the connection between Runaan and himself.

So far I think my favourite is Kira Nerys from Deep Space 9. I haven't watched the show yet since I'm watching everything in chronological order, but I've seen as many clips as YouTube has to offer and read as much as I can on her! But in TOS, what I'm watching right now, I think McCoy is my favourite!
