Just to add that i do see some Mikaelsons as the rape type but ESPECIALLY Kol. The way he went after Meredith and said "never stopped me before" I really don't think he values consent at all.

Nah I definitely get it, I do understand why you see them as the rape type. They're villains, after all, and never really stopped being ones no matter how the shows tries to make them look.

But imo it's just, idk, going too low if that makes sense? Like, rape and murder are both horrible things, but I personally feel the first one is worse because you can make it out alive, and then you have the trauma that will stay with you forever. And to me, it feels like the Mikaelson wouldn't go that far??? I don't know how to explain it lmao, I feel rape would be one of their few personal bounds, despite the fact that they're clearly monsters. I mean, there are villains/antagonist that no matter how evil they are, there are few things that they just won't do.

And that's what I believe of the Mikaelson, it's one of my many personal headcanons of them. I just can't see them forcing themselves on someone, despite using compulsion 24/7 aka a sort of mind rape. There was this one scene in season 5, where there was a woman laying dead bleeding in Klaus’s bed naked after probably having sex, and I always assumed that he just killed her after having sex but never forced her, which it's disgusting in its own don't misunderstand me.

Anyway, I do understand why you or anyone else would believe they rape people. Imo, they just wouldn't do that but I get why other people think so and viceversa.

ohhh this is gonna be really long.

ok so i actually vibed with this ship during season one because they had nice chemistry and we’re generally sweet towards each other. they had ups and downs during season one but i was hoping they would be a thing.

then came season two. and oh my Lord it went downhill. elijah, for some unknown reason, distances himself from hayley or hayley distances herself from him or he doesn’t look at her the same way or whatever i honestly had no idea what was going on. whatever was happening, it was stupid and unnecessary and i skipped past all their scenes. this would’ve been a nice opportunity to invest in klayley but that’s another discussion. so i kind of lost interest in the two of them, especially when gia and jackson entered the picture. jackson and hayley were very cute and it was a healthy relationship. same with gia and elijah. AND THEN THEY KILL MY GIRL GIA. words cannot describe how much that infuriated me.

and thennn season three. at this point i have zero interest whatsoever in this ship i don’t care if they’re fighting or having conflict or whatever i don’t care. and the writers keep trying to force it down our throats. it’s exhausting. it’s stupid. i hate it. hayley, at this point, is emotionally cheating on jackson and she sorta admits it and jackson has every right to be angry but he still helps that family because they’re important to hayley. i love this man. AND THEN THEY KILL OFF JACKSON. i hate j*lie. and then the whole thing with marcel happens (hate how the mikaelson treated him but that’s for another post) and then hayley defends elijah saying klaus has to forgive him blah blah i don’t care blah. so much for marcel and hayley being friends. at that point hayley and elijah became official and i didn’t care one bit.

now on to season four. elijah wakes up and him and hayley get together and whatever. then hayley lectures him on not killing those children. idk why she was surprised because elijah had no problem in killing davina. whatever. anyways then hayley sees what’s behind the red door (which btw is a cool concept and gives lots of depth and complexity to elijah’s character) and this is when i realized that elijah and hayley are in love with idolized versions of each other. they put each other on pedestals and then get angry when they don’t meet each other’s expectations. it’s toxic and unhealthy and if they were endgame i would’ve hated it. then hayley breaks up with him and onto season five.

imo this was the worst season of the originals it was dull especially compared to the first three seasons. at this point i was just watching to finish it not because i was interested. anyways elijah loses his memory and is with antoinette. (i liked that ship too) then elijah is at fault for hayley’s death and the entire mikaelson family was trying to convince him that him and hayley were amazing and beautiful and they loved each other or whatever. which was all false btw.

so to sum up this post, elijah and hayley romanticized the heck out of each other and they had a toxic relationship. elijah should have been with gia and hayley should have been with jackson. the end.

Klamille vs Klaroline?

this isn’t just because i don’t like klaroline. i disliked that ship before i knew klamille was a thing. klaroline just felt like a bunch of scenes with the bad boy good girl trope. no cohesion, no relevance to the plot, nothing. it came out of nowhere and felt very random. and also idk where kc fans spun the narrative that caroline brought out good things in klaus. if she really did he wouldn’t have killed carol lockwood. he wouldn’t have hurt caroline. he wouldn’t have told tyler to bite her. if caroline had any impact over him other than some physical attraction he wouldn’t have done all of those things.

but klamille, this is a ship that’s really good. we see a softer side of klaus, where he cares about someone outside of his family. he even trusts her to take her to hope, when he could have easily compelled her. he has a sort of tenderness with her that we don’t see with many of his other love interests. unlike klaroline, his love for cami extends to the people close to her. like father kieran, detective kinney. he helps those people just because cami wished it. plus, when he was being imprisoned by marcel and the hollow, he imagined cami, which kind of speaks for itself.

The characterization of Klaus in his fanfics is just insane.

First of all, this is gonna be bashing to 96% of Klaus’s fanfics lmao. I still love reading them tho.

But straight to the point, why are people writing him as if he would ever allow someone, anyone, to disrespect him the way authors make their ocs do??? No, Klaus wouldn't be giggling and shit if you call him "puppy" or "Santa Klaus", he's literally gonna murder you in the spot and even worse lmao.

I've read so much stories where the protagonist is constantly insulting Klaus and bickering with him (it's funny tho) and he just... allows it. Yes, Klaus, the man who's literally shown to tear off heads whenever someone as much breathes in the wrong way, and yet he allows this teen (because in 99% of fanfics the protagonist is a girl not over nineteen, at least physically) to talk shit about him.

Like I absolutely love those kind of stories, they're good and I'll continue reading them, but the Klaus they write is 100% ooc. And I understand why, because as someone who used to write fanfics of him, his character is just so difficult to write but it doesn't seem like they even try to.

Moving to another famous trope in his fanfics: soulmate stories. I find it very ooc that he would actually accept he has a soulmate: he wouldn't believe it, he's literally the most paranoid character of tvdu, Klaus would 100% believe it's just a plot made to control him and he would probably kill his soulmate, only to regret it forever. Or those "I've been seeing her/having dreams about her for a thousand of years, she's without a doubt the person I'm meant to love forever", what?? 😭

If Klaus ever saw this person in real life, there are just two possibilities I can think of:

A) he would be extremely paranoid and would kill this person on the spot

B) he would be extremely paranoid, but decides to not kill x person for some barely explained reason and would get to know her/him and perhaps fall in love.

I'm aware Klaus can and has been soft in canon: with his family (in occasions, more in New Orleans modern era), with Hayley, Marcel, and Cami. I mean, Klaus loved Cami so much he actually begged her to not leave him, to fully turn into a vampire because he was terrified of losing her, and a decade after her death he was still in love with her (something a certain part of the fandom fails to see lmao).

The fanfics where he cheats with Hayley/Cami/Caroline/ Genevieve/Aurora or he just cheats while he's in a relationship also are ooc imo. If he's in a commited relationship and he loves the person he's with, I don't see him as the cheater type, especially because he wasn't sleeping around in the program.

But either way, show me the fanfics with true depiction. Show me fanfics where he's so screwed up that he continually pushes the person he loves away, where he constantly hurts them with/without intention as he did to his siblings, where he constantly uses his s/o for his own personal gain or similar. Where he's actually his true self, the man he was in tvd before having Hope and even after having Hope, because she actually did not change him that much.

I think I only found three fics like that: one in ao3 called I Would Hurt A Fly, where the oc was a witch or something like it and he used her as a personal sex toy/blood bag but there were slight hints of his love but sadly was deleted.

Or the ones written by @viavolterra and @saintsir4n, the way they write Klaus is the closest I've ever seen to his canon self and it's genuinely good writing. Patisserie is also a really good written fanfic that writes the characters well, but it's a poly Mikaelson fic (which it's even better, the more the best)

Either way, a violent man isn't gonna change with the power of love and family. The Originals tried doing that with Hope and they failed, because Klaus was the same man he was at the start, just slightly less mean to his family.
