(I don't hate annabeth, and some annabeth fans are nice. But, in a substantial number of fans, there seems to be a visible inclination towards making excuses along these lines to absolve her of blame ,fault and even criticism as a character.)

Frank and Hazel fans watching their beloved characters being neglected by Rick for the umpteenth time in a row:

Luke fans reading about the other "villains" Rick wrote:

(Don't get me wrong, Luke is a terrible person. But the other villains are way too poorly written for people to not give him some credit as a villain. He's the only decent one Riordan ever wrote.)

Jason and Piper fans performing mental gymnastics when they realise the two were wasted potential and victims of bad writing:

What I’ve learned about the fandom’s perception of Nico as a Nico roleplayer

Somehow they all think that Nico is obsessed with Mcdonald’s (even though it’s the ghosts who like the food)

People WILL somehow bring up Mcdonald’s when roleplaying

There is a definite infantilisation of Nico. The amount of times I have gagged over interactions because they treat my character like a child.

If I make jokes as Nico about his lack of self care, people immediately go to pull out the “I’ll call Will” card

Y’all this is so eye opening about the true perception of Nico di Angelo. He is so fucking infantilised and it’s not cute

Will being incompetent as a warrior is in tandem with his established character in canon...just reread the last few chapters of Nico's PoV in blood of olympus, please...

I can't believe rick let mark commit character assassination.

What the fuck do you mean will didn't bring a weapon to Tartarus? He has been in countless battles

Not to mention the fact that they made will dead weight the whole fucking time. I really can't believe this is canon and it won't never be to me.. Really just ruined my favorite character..

On the flip side don't let this stop you from enjoying the sun and the star if you did. It was a good book but in canon it was just shit
