Slughorn was droning on and on. James had lost interest long ago, staring off into the distance, trailing his quill on his paper in random doodles as he allowed his mind to wander to much more pleasant topics. Topics he couldn't help but obsess over as of late.

Dark hair. Piercing grey eyes. A grumpy frown.

He wasn't paying attention.

Which is why he was truly socked when he gazed down to his own paper and saw the words RegulusRegulusRegulus scrawled over and over across his notes.

He glanced to his right at Sirius, but thankfully his best friend looked just as zoned out, so he quickly turned the page and dropped his quill before resuming his day dream.
