Logi1974 - Hasenbär Auf Reisen

Während der deutschen Kolonialzeit war Swakopmund ein wichtiger Hafen. Zunächst wurde 1905 ein 275 Meter langer, 9 Meter breiter Holzsteg gebaut. Dieser wurde 1912 durch einen Eisernen ersetzt. Nur ein Drittel des Piers wurde bis 1914 fertiggestellt, als der Erste Weltkrieg den weiteren Bau stoppte. 1986 wurden Renovierungsarbeiten durchgeführt, um den Steg zu retten, der zu diesem Zeitpunkt eine sehr beliebte Attraktion für Einheimische und Touristen war. Der verbleibende Teil des Stegs wurde später von der Lighthouse Group renoviert und das Restaurant Jetty 1905 wurde am 14. Oktober 2010 eröffnet.

During the german colonial period Swakopmund was an important harbour. Initially a 275 meter long, 9 meter wide wooden jetty was built in 1905. This was replaced by an iron one in 1912. Only a third of the pier was completed by 1914 when the First World War put a stop to further construction. 1986 renovation work was undertaken to save the jetty, at this stage a very popular attraction for locals and tourists. Later the remaining portion of the jetty was renovated by the Lighthouse Group and the popular Jetty 1905 Restaurant opened its doors on the 14 October 2010.

The Fish River Canyon (Afrikaans Visrivier Afgronde, German: Fischfluss Canyon), is located in the south of Namibia. It is the largest canyon in Africa and, behind the Grand Canyon, the second largest in the world. It features a gigantic ravine, in total about 100 miles (160 km) long, up to 27 km wide and in places almost 550 meters deep.

Der Fischfluss-Canyon (english Fish River Canyon, afrikaans Visrivier Afgronde) liegt im südlichen Namibia. Er ist mit etwa 160 Kilometer Länge, bis zu 27 Kilometer Breite und bis zu 550 Meter Tiefe der größte Canyon Afrikas und gilt nach dem Grand Canyon als zweitgrößter Canyon der Erde.

Für traditionelle Souvenir-Produkte wie afrikanische Masken, Figuren, Batikmode, empfiehlt sich der Besuch auf einem der zahlreichen „Craft Markets“.
