Die Mahangu Safari Lodge liegt 22 Kilometer südlich von Divundu entlang des westlichen Ufers des Okavango Flusses, auf dem Weg zum Mahango Nationalpark. Die Lodge eignet sich ideal als Zwischenhalt für Reisenden von und nach Botswana (Okavango Delta), dem Capriv- Zipfel und den Victoriafällen. 

Mahangu Safari Lodge is situated 22 kilometers south of the town Divundu, at the western bank of the Okavango river, en route to the Mahango National Park. The lodge is a convenient stop-over for travellers to and from Botswana (Okavango Delta), the Caprivi strip as well as the Victoria Falls.

Birds of Eden is the world largest single dome free flight aviary hosting over 200 species and nearly 3500 birds. Visitors have the option of going on a self-guided tour through the 3-hectare aviary  or requesting a guide to walk them through the aviary and telling them all about the different birds. The more time you spend in the aviary the more you will see. As with all types of bird watching, it takes time to enjoy.

Birds of Eden ist die weltweit größte Freiflug-Voliere mit einer Kuppel, in der über 200 Arten und fast 3500 Vögel leben. Besucher haben die Möglichkeit,  selbst eine Tour durch die 3 Hektar große Voliere zu unternehmen oder einen Führer anzufordern, der sie durch die Voliere führt und ihnen alles über die verschiedenen Vögel erzählt. Je mehr Zeit man in der Voliere verbringt, desto mehr wird man sehen. Wie bei jeder Vogelbeobachtung braucht es Zeit, um zu genießen.

Das Okavango Delta wird oft als “Juwel” der Kalahari beschrieben und ist eine ruhige und abgeschiedene Oase inmitten Botswanas harscher und trockener Wüste.

The Delta is one of the world’s largest inland water systems. Its headwaters start in Angola’s western highlands, which then flows through Namibia (called the Kavango) and finally enters Botswana, where it is then called the Okavango.

Das Okavango Delta ist eines der größten und wichtigsten, sich im Binnenland befindliche Feuchtgebiet, und umfasst 16 000 km2 mit 2500 Pflanzenarten, 65 Fischarten, 20 großen Pflanzenfressern und 450 Vogelarten.

Millions of years ago the Okavango river use to flow into a large inland lake called Lake Makgadikgadi (now Makgadikgadi Pans). Tectonic activity and faulting interrupted the flow of the river causing it to backup and form what is now the Okavango Delta.

Das Okavango Delta ist eines der weltgrößten Binnenland Wassersysteme.  Das Quellgebiet entspringt in Angolas westlichem Hochgebirge und fließt dann durch Namibia (als Kavango) und wird dann in Botswana zum Okavango.

This has created a unique system of water ways that now supports a vast array of animal and plant life that would have otherwise been a dry Kalahari savanna.

Vom Weltraum aus, sieht man einen smaragdblauen Strudel, umgeben von ausgetrockneten Landschaften. Das Okavango Delta ist eine unglaubliche Lebensquelle in einem Land das zu 80 % trocken ist.

Vor Millionen von Jahren floss der Okavango Fluss in einen Binnensee mit dem Namen Makgadikgadi (heutzutage die Makgadikgadi Pfanne). Tektonische Aktivität und Erdschlüsse haben den Verlauf des Flusses unterbrochen und ihn dazu gebracht sich zurückzuziehen und das heutige Okavango Delta zu formen.

Daraus entstand ein einzigartiges System von Wasserwegen, das ansonsten eine trockene Kalahari Savanne wäre und jetzt ein großes Spektrum an Tieren und Pflanzen versorgt.

Die Garden Route gehört zu den schönsten und beliebtesten Reisezielen in Südafrika. Sie beginnt "offiziell" bei Swellendam und endet in Humansdorp kurz vor Port Elizabeth. Der interessanteste Streckenabschnitt liegt jedoch zwischen Mossel Bay und der Storms River Mündung im Tsitsikamma Nationalpark. An den traumhaft schönen Küsten der Gardenroute wechseln steile Felsklippen mit malerischen Buchten, ausgedehnten, breiten Sandstränden mit dichtem, immergrünem Regenwald ab. 

The Garden Route is one of the most beautiful and popular travel destinations in South Africa. It "officially" begins at Swellendam and ends in Humansdorp just before Port Elizabeth. The most interesting section, however, is between Mossel Bay and the Storms River estuary in Tsitsikamma National Park. On the especially  beautiful coasts of the garden route, steep rock cliffs alternate with picturesque bays, extensive, wide sandy beaches with dense, evergreen rainforest.
