Namibia - das Land im Südwesten Afrikas zwischen dem Oranje Fluss im Süden und dem Kunene Fluss im Norden - ist ein karges, rauhes Land, wie aus einer anderen Welt und dennoch so  einladend und beinahe vertraut. Abenteuerlich und dennoch so leicht zu  bereisen. Wer Ruhe sucht und Natur, wer grandiose Landschaften, Wüste und Weite genießt, den wird Namibia, das zu den am dünnsten besiedelten Ländern der Erde zählt, nicht mehr loslassen.

Der Gondwana Canyon Park wurde 1996 gegründet und ist ein landschaftlich reizvolles, privates Naturschutzgebiet. Die Landschaft wird dominiert von Plateaubergen, die faszinierende Aussichten über die weit ausgedehnten spärlich bewachsenen Ebenen bieten. Besucher können in einer der vier Lodges der Gondwana Collection oder auf einem Campingplatz übernachten. Aus den Einkünften der Lodges und der Parkgebühr wird ein Prozentsatz direkt in Umweltschutz im Gondwana Canyon Park investiert.

In 1996 the private and scenic nature reserve ‘Gondwana Canyon Park’ was founded. Its landscape is dominated by plateaus which offer fascinating views over the widely spread and sparsely vegetated plains intercepted by granite hills and dolerite dikes. Visitors can stay over in one of the four lodges of the Gondwana Collection or on the campsite. From the income generated by the lodges and the park fees a certain amount is invested directly into the conservation of the Gondwana Canyon Park.

Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in southern Africa known for its dramatic landscape and diverse wildlife, much of it within parks, reserves and safari areas. On the Zambezi River, Victoria Falls make a thundering 108m drop into narrow Batoka Gorge, where there’s white-water rafting and bungee-jumping. Downstream are Matusadona and Mana Pools national parks, home to hippos, rhinos and birdlife.

Simbabwe ist ein Binnenland im Süden von Afrika, das für seine beeindruckende Landschaft und vielfältige Fauna in Parks, Reservaten und Safarigebieten bekannt ist. Am Sambesi donnern die Victoriafälle über 108 m hinab in die schmale Batoka-Schlucht, wo Rafting und Bungee-Jumping angeboten werden. Flussabwärts liegen die Nationalparks Matusadona und Mana-Pools, wo Nilpferde, Nashörner und verschiedene Vogelarten leben.

In a semi-arid country like Namibia, where deserts fringe both the eastern and western borders, water is a precious resource. At the onset of summer towards the end of the year, Namibians watch the skies expectantly waiting for the clouds to gather and the first raindrops to hit the parched earth. For such a country, it is no wonder that the symbol of a windmill is one that has been ingrained in generations of Namibians, representing hope and life as it catches the wind and turns, pumping up water from underground reservoirs.

Zu Beginn des Sommers, gegen Ende des Jahres, beobachten Namibier den Himmel und warten erwartungsvoll darauf, dass sich die Wolken sammeln und die ersten Regentropfen auf die ausgedörrte Erde treffen. Für ein solches Land ist es kein Wunder, dass das Symbol einer Windmühle in Generationen von Namibiern verwurzelt ist und Hoffnung und Leben repräsentiert, wenn es den Wind fängt und sich dreht und Wasser aus unterirdischen Stauseen aufpumpt.

Untamed, the Zambezi River must have been a force to behold at the start of the rainy season. Spring floodwaters surged down the valleys through narrow river channels and gorges, and onto the vast floodplains at the mouth of the Zambezi, bringing nutrients and rich soils essential to the productivity and survival of the plants and animals of the delta.

Ungezähmt muss der Sambesi zu Beginn der Regenzeit eine Kraft sein, die man gesehen haben muss. Das Hochwasser des Frühlings strömt durch enge Flusskanäle und Schluchten die Täler hinunter und auf die riesigen Auen an der Mündung des Sambesi und bringt Nährstoffe und reiche Böden, die für die Produktivität und das Überleben der Pflanzen und Tiere des Deltas unerlässlich sind.
