What even is proshipping

Proshipping is pro-shipping. As in; for shipping. In support of shipping.

'Proship' is the modern evolution of the original acronym SALS, which stands for Ship And Let Ship. It is exactly the same concept as; "your kink is not my kink, but that's okay. Its simply not my business."

The core values of proshipping are:

Everyone has a right to ship.

Ships cannot and should not be controlled or dictated. (E.g; "I don't like this ship so you're a bad person for liking it and you're not allowed to ship it.")

People should not be shamed, harassed, threatened, ect because of their ships.

Modern 'proshipping' will often vary from individual to individual. In truth, the term 'proshipping' as its used and defined these days would be actually be 'profiction.' This is because many people expand proshipping in order encompass being pro-X across an array of varying creative and fandom based criteria.

However as 'proship' is the more commonly known label it is the most widely accepted.

There is often the common misconception stemming from careful propaganda that proshipping exclusively refers to the support and enjoyment of taboo or dark themes such as incest and pedophilia. This is not true.

Proshipping does not mean: "I enjoy incest." Proshipping means: "even if I do not enjoy incest, it is not my place to try to stop you doing so or harming you because of it."

I am actually begging some people to just let some spaces exist untouched by real-world issues and horrors.

Like I've lost count of the amount of times peaceful game or fandom servers have been ruined by people stampeding in with political rants, bitching about world issues, demanding internal activism, demanding vent channels so they can whine about their shitty parents, ect.

Like. Respectfully. Not every single space has to be inclusive of and welcoming of outside topics. The real world sucks. We don't needed to be reminded of that absolutely everywhere.

(I've noticed every single person taking issue with this post also immediately vilifies "white people" as though POC can't also be fucking tired of existing in a constant state of misery and stress, too.)

I don't trust "documented evidence" as well, unless it's like in an official website or whatever. it's the mfing internet and people can edit or create fake messages or fake victims. hell, even with the new ai thingy they can create fake videos and pics. who gets to say these are real or not? I am saying this as a victim of fake callout posts who never got believed.

Modern cancel culture and the ability to just throw accusations around and be believed blindly have honestly ruined actual internet safety, accountability and being able to protect yourself and others from both false accusations and real dangerous people.

Its why I take issue with statements like "believe victims no matter what" and "support accusations until they're proven fake."

People have gone to jail for forty years and been proven innocent.

People have been murdered and their accusers have come forward to reveal they made the accusations up.

People have killed themselves over false accusations.

False accusations and blind witch hunting can ruin a person's life for literal decades.

It has absolutely nothing to do with proship vs antiship culture, even though the latter culture is in part what has exacerbated my stance. It has everything to do with the fact that practically weekly there's new news headlines about people milking a dead celebrity's estate with easily disproven claims, or bitter teenagers faking screenshots and falling over themselves to get internet sympathy because their boyfriend broke up with them.

I will always give victims a certain amount of benefit of doubt, but what I won't do is blindly launch a brigade against someone based on claims with no proof or flimsy proof with more holes in it than a festival tent.

The watering down of the words "pedophile", "CSEM/CSAM", "groomer", etc done by antis has slowly spread to outside the fandom circle

The thing about antis is that they are not just in fandom spaces. They are also real people out in the real world with impact and influence.

They're the kind of people who try to get movies and TV shows banned for depicting things they disagree with. They're the kind of people who insert themselves into people's private lives with attempts to control and dictate what they can and cannot do. They're the kind of people who jump to extreme measures and incorrect solutions to real problems.

Having met antis in real life I can certainly say that their real lives and fandom experiences work in tandem.

hii! sorry to bug you. ^^ im fairly new to the proshipper community. im just unsure what to do. do you have any suggestions or advice?

Block antis liberally and without restraint.

Use the Tumblr blacklist features to block certain keywords from tags and posts. Such as 'proshitter' and 'anti proship' and 'proship DNI.'

When following blogs do a quick check of their bio/pinned post to make sure they're receptive to proshipping.

Tag any of your content appropriately in order to help people both find and avoid anything they want to see/not see.
