What is "comship" and "safeship?"
(I saw an anti tag their anti ship post with #safeship which doesn't make sense to me but I was afraid to ask them lmao)
Comship and safeship both have multiple meanings and modern usage.
"Comship" is shorthand for "complex ship." This is being used by both antis and proshippers but is currently being hailed as an "alternative to proship" by most people.
"Comship" is also shorthand for "comfort ship," although you may sometimes see it spelt as "comfship."
"Safe ship" is another term for "comfort ship." That one pairing which is just homey, always hits the feel good spot, ect.
*Some antis are using "safeship" as a way to mark their account as "safe for shipping" excluding proship or questionable/dark content. So essentially a place that is "safe" to "ship normally."
Seeing them being used together is definitely a contradiction; but its likely they were just using the tags for exposure and to generate interaction. Its a common tactic used by both proshippers and anti-shippers.
(For example if I make a post which is relative to both anti shipping and proshipping, and/or I want discussion from both sides, I will use both the anti-ship tag and the proship tag.)
*Some proshippers also use #shippingsafe or #safeshipper to indicate they are a "shipping safe space."
You are a proshipper but you are for threatening a real person only because this person does not correspond to your views. You're only targeting Rowling because she's a woman. If she were a man you would behave differently. Nobody touches homophobic, transphobic and misogynistic men. All the proshippers around me told me that they are against harassment that they are against any threats. You are undermining the values of proship. You give the anti food they want
Hello, this is the Victim Card Helpline. We're reaching out to you today because we noticed you've made 5 transactions to the same account. We're just letting you know that we've approved 2 out of the 5 transactions but unfortunately your balance does not cover the final 3. We're also letting you know that spending while anonymously does not automatically guarantee that the account won't recognise you're the same idiot after the 2nd transaction.
Your Victim Card balance is now empty. If you'd like to top up your account, please let us know.

why are you harassing people, little bro? The main proship rule is not to harass other people. You're not a proship, you're a damn fucking anti

That post you made about Harry Potter and how to not financially support and fund the franchise and put more money in Joanne's pockets felt like a lie because I swear I got the impression that even that wasn't allowed when the whole thing started
To be clear; I stopped. Completely. I compartmentalized it all and just stopped interacting with anything Harry Potter online whatsoever. But I always wished it would be fine to still be able to do certain fandom things without supporting her, but people were saying that even using the tag or reading the fanfiction or making fanart was still supporting the ip and not letting it die completely as a topic on the internet was indirectly putting money in her pockets.
It wasn't until I came across a post from a queer woman from somewhere in the global south with heavy OCD and intrusive thoughts or something like that, commenting on how hostile of a thing it became for someone of her affliction; the way people were treating it like do or die. Pointing out that no matter how much trans people and allys cut off their support of her, she has other large means of income that we won't be able to touch, and there will still always be transphobic homophobic Harry Potter fans that will continue to support her actively, putting that money in her pockets. Another thing she mentioned was the treatment of Harry Potter and Joannes bigotry in contrast to the treatment of FNAF and the creators bigotry. And lastly something about the USAmericanized nature of it? I don't really remember that part but I think I understood it at the time I read it (maybe it was something about all the other countries the IP is popular in who are probably more conservative and unaware or caring of the issues with her who will still put money in her pockets, or maybe it was something about American fans fixating and posing the support of her as the ultimate battlefield of Trans Rights to other queer and trans individuals trying to be quiet fans who are facing Much Worse in their countries)
Anyways after that I briefly started reading ao3 fanfic again, just put a filter for anything before 2019 or so, and then my interest more gently fizzled out.
I can't remember what my point is anymore, maybe just to bring these arguments to your attention(also I am not arguing against the financial boycott or ending of support for this woman through her ip).
Harry Potter will never stop earning money. That's just the flat reality of it; I mean, look at the likes of Elvis and the original Sherlock Holmes books and every other 'dead' media that's still earning money. Short of making Harry Potter an illegal piece of media, yes, there will still always be a number of people giving her money.
The goal is to give her less money. To turn Harry Potter from a prominent, profitable cashcow into a defunct piece of media that only select groups are still clinging to. To make it so that JK Rowling has to choose between paying her bills and funding anti-trans movements.
When something stops bringing in a certain amount of profit, studios start looking elsewhere. When a cashcow starts drying up, they stop trying to milk it as hard. Which in turn means less productions for JK Rowling to collect her pocketmoney from.
What would you rather; JK Rowling getting $100,000 or JK Rowling only getting $10,000?
Something is better than nothing. Damage reduction is better than open exposure. If everyone just rolled over and gave up because "things will keep happening anyway" the world will literally be a rancid, fetid wasteland of bigotry and violence.
I'd much rather watch JK Rowling fizzle out into a bitter old wench sustained only by the dogged support of other stubborn bigots than watch people willingly disregard and condone bigotry because its "easier" and "she'll be a bigot anyway."
I'd much rather JK Rowling only have $10,000 to donate to shitty movements over $72,000. Shitty movements can do a lot less with a lot less money.
Wattpad's TOS are actually criminally hypocritical and ridiculous the more you read them. The website is literally just:
"Give us all your content for free to do with as we please and let us expose you to 493737573 website cookies and advertisements but also if you change the color of our logo we'll sue and if someone gets inaccurate medical advice from your fanfiction and sues we're also going to sue you for exposing us to risk."
Wattpad can mine your content but you can't mine Wattpad.
Wattpad can sue you for absolutely anything they perceive as "damaging" or "breach of terms" but the moment you make an account you release them of any and all claims, damages and responsibility.
If Anne Rice 2.0 does happen, Wattpad has so kindly declared that they reserve the right to be the sole defense, so they can throw you under the bus and then charge you for any and all fees incurred including legal and "related" costs. Oh, and you have to co-operate because, guess what? You agreed to!
In the instance you do wind up in a legal battle for your own content you're shit out of luck because Wattpad will have no part in it other than making sure its absolved of any responsibility and costs, and you're restricted to attending Court only in the Province of Ontario.
Like. How anyone still uses Wattpad is beyond me. Completely. It so obviously nothing more than a for-profit content theft facilitator. I feel like we've just moved so far beyond the need for Wattpad. Its so outdated even if you don't look at the TOS.
I know this topic is extremely controversial and extremely nuanced and blah blah blah and I'm lighting a rock on fire and bashing my own skull in with it, but....
Sometimes. People are just ready to die.
That's it. I firmly believe assisted suicide, at absolute minimum for the terminally ill, should be a universal concept. People want to die with dignity. People want to die with comfort. People want to die feeling like themselves.
When someone is ready to die, peacefully, we should let them.
Whatâs your opinion on c.ai roleplay, ai art and generative ai in general?
My opinion is that AI should make peoples' lives easier, rather than stealing peoples' creations and spewing out butchered replicas so it can "replace them."
All current creative accessible AI is modelled on the stolen content of hundreds of thousands of people. Character AI? Stolen fanfiction. ChatGPT? Stolen essays, novels, fanfiction, images. Generative AI? Same thing.
And once its in, its impossible to remove entirely. And the techbros making tens of thousands off your stolen content don't want to remove it anyway. When Glaze first came out they threw fits and tried to get Glaze legally destroyed so they could keep stealing and profiting off of content theft.
And its so fucking easy for people to mine content off of websites and steal your content without you ever even knowing! And if or when you do find out, its too late. Your content is part of that code forever. Its been absorbed, butchered, regurgitated.
AI in creative spaces does have a place, but it needs to be so, so carefully controlled and used. The widespread ability to just mangle together other people's creations and claim ownership of whatever it churns out is... Horrifying at best.
I vomit every time I see "made with ChatGPT!" on AO3.
The cool thing about being pro ship is what I call "bonus ships." Ships that I am barely interested in, do nothing for me, hell, one of them makes me ask myself "why". But! My friends are into these ships. And even tho I'm not interested or invested, I will stumble across content and bring it right back to my friends. Saw a thing you like! Here you go. Maybe a song or a piece of art that reminded me of the thing, too.
This does nothing for me, but it works for your ship, so I brought it to you. Bonus ships. I just think it's a nice thing to do for your friends.
Me and my friends have a very similar set up. We both have a lot of interests that don't strictly overlap but because we share things so routinely we'll regularly see things that are more tailored toward the other person (yay for the internet spying on your every move!)
We call it the Shipping Service, pun intended.
Actually I think having kids is too normalized.
I mean like; not only has it become an expectation for people (not just talking about fascists and sexist pigs controlling women's choices) but people are just so... Out of touch with what "having a baby" actually means.
Not just for the immediate future but also long term.
"We'll cross that bridge if it comes to it!" is an alarmingly common response these days when parents are questioned about the future with their child. People seem to be so caught up in just having a child and a pretty nursery that they don't seem to think beyond that point at all.
I know so, so many people who suffered a shitty upbringing because their parents had a child because "its just what couples do." Parents who never planned for unforeseen circumstances. Parents who left crucial developmental stages to other people. Parents who never bothered to learn how to actually raise another human being.
apdkjad you able bodied person cant use that its a slur >:( im disabled has the same energy as that person who got an anon about ship drama because their whole ass non white name resembled a ship name like guys do some research please im begging you
Its literally just this.
Cripple is a slur. Please don't use it if you're able bodied
I have repeatedly stated that I am disabled.

why is privacy so eroded. I get treated like a nutcase if I say no, I don't want strange companies taking pictures of my home and putting them online for maps or whatever. I don't want to be in the background of your tiktok, and I think it's weirder for you to assume I'm okay with it than it is for me to politely ask you to refilm it so my face isn't in the frame. I don't enjoy handing my employer a list of every online account I have and feeling under surveillance when I'm just shit posting or sharing pictures of my cats or garden harvest. I don't want to hear your private calls on speaker on the bus, esp when the person on the line doesn't know you're broadcasting their words to strangers. I don't want an algorithm guessing what will piss me off the most so I spend more time online, engaging with shit I don't want to see or hear out of outrage. I don't want any of this. it's total ass.
Skip Google for Research
As Google has worked to overtake the internet, its search algorithm has not just gotten worse. It has been designed to prioritize advertisers and popular pages often times excluding pages and content that better matches your search termsÂ
As a writer in need of information for my stories, I find this unacceptable. As a proponent of availability of information so the populace can actually educate itself, it is unforgivable.
Below is a concise list of useful research sites compiled by Edward Clark over on Facebook. I was familiar with some, but not all of these.
â
Google is so powerful that it âhidesâ other search systems from us. We just donât know the existence of most of them. Meanwhile, there are still a huge number of excellent searchers in the world who specialize in books, science, other smart information. Keep a list of sites you never heard of.
www.refseek.com - Academic Resource Search. More than a billion sources: encyclopedia, monographies, magazines.
www.worldcat.org - a search for the contents of 20 thousand worldwide libraries. Find out where lies the nearest rare book you need.
https://link.springer.com - access to more than 10 million scientific documents: books, articles, research protocols.
www.bioline.org.br is a library of scientific bioscience journals published in developing countries.
http://repec.org - volunteers from 102 countries have collected almost 4 million publications on economics and related science.
www.science.gov is an American state search engine on 2200+ scientific sites. More than 200 million articles are indexed.
www.pdfdrive.com is the largest website for free download of books in PDF format. Claiming over 225 million names.
www.base-search.net is one of the most powerful researches on academic studies texts. More than 100 million scientific documents, 70% of them are free

"Businesses like to talk about the concept of a closed loop or circular economy, but often theyâre trying to close small loops. Releaf Paper takes dead leaves from city trees and turns them into paper for bags, office supplies, and moreâwhich is to say they are striving to close one heck of a big loop.
How big? Six billion trees are cut down every year for paper products according to the WWF, producing everything from toilet paper to Amazon boxes to the latest best-selling novels. Meanwhile, the average city produces 8,000 metric tons of leaves every year which clog gutters and sewers, and have to be collected, composted, burned, or dumped in landfills.
In other words, huge supply and huge demand, but Releaf Paper is making cracking progress. They already produce 3 million paper carrier bags per year from 5,000 metric tons of leaves from their headquarters in Paris.
Joining forces with landscapers in sites across Europe, thousands of tonnes of leaves arrive at their facility where a low-water, zero-sulfur/chlorine production process sees the company create paper with much smaller water and carbon footprints...
âIn a city, itâs a green waste that should be collected. Really, itâs a good solution because we are keeping the balanceâwe get fiber for making paper and return lignin as a semi-fertilizer for the cities to fertilize the gardens or the trees. So itâs like a win-win model,â [Valentyn] Frechka, co-founder and CTO of Releaf Paper, told Euronews.
Releaf is already selling products to LVMH, BNP Paribas, Logitech, Samsung, and various other big companies. In the coming years, Frechka and Sobolenka also plan to further increase their production capacity by opening more plants in other countries. If the process is cost-efficient, thereâs no reason there shouldnât be a paper mill of this kind in every city.
âWe want to expand this idea all around the world. At the end, our vision is that the technology of making paper from fallen leaves should be accessible on all continents,â Sobolenka notes, according to ZME Science."

The ability and right to choose is not exclusive to you.
If you think abortions are tantamount to murder, do not get one. But that is your choice. Other people have the ability and right to choose otherwise.
If you do not like piercings and tattoos, do not get them. But other people have the ability and right to decide what to do to their own bodies.
If you want to believe in a higher guiding authority and follow regulations by which to live under a religion, that is your choice. But other people are not obligated to comply with the regulations you have imposed upon yourself. Other people have the ability and right to choose how to live.
The ability and right to choose is for ourselves. It gives us the right to say I have made this choice for myself. Not I have made this choice and everyone else must comply.

may i predict "ARE YOU CONDONING RACIAL SEGREGATION" bad faith takes ?
I'll take that bet for $700, Kevin.
Since I've already swung a bat at the hornet's nest with that safe space post I'm about to drop-kick it on its way down:
Actually not every single space has to include you and that's okay and actually how the world works and instead of trying to barge your way into spaces not meant for you, expand on the amount of spaces that are for you.
There are some days where I will absolutely happily chew through 3934849 fics of the exact same premise/trope/plot and then some days where I don't even want to touch a fandom or pairing because the Popular Trope Trap is so significant within it I simply don't have the energy or willpower to wade through it all to find something else.
I think maybe on those days my main issue is that there's sometimes not much variance within the trope itself. Coffee Shop AUs, for example. They're almost always meet-cutes or meet-awkwards. Its always some harried barista wistfully using hot drinks to flirt with an even hotter customer. Its almost always winter or Christmas and its an endless cycle of the same puns, dialogue and endings.
Give me the coffee shop that's a front for the mafia. Remember that post about the guy who went into the restaurant and it was so very clearly a mafia front but he got served anyway and had the time of his life? Give me that!
Give me the customer watching a "barista" in a three piece suit nearly lose an arm trying to froth a latte for the first time. A man who kills for a living slowly experiencing a mental breakdown as he tries to add a leaf decor to a cappuccino. Mr. Dark and Deadly dying inside as a gaggle of sorority girls rush the counter for 32 pumpkin spice vanilla two-pump caramel syrup extra shot whipped creams.
Give me the customer accidentally ordering the one very specific drink that is actually a secret code and getting a cup full of cocaine baggies instead. Or a man who joins him at the table with an expensive iPad and begins asking him all sorts of weird questions about how he wants his lawn mowed or his pest control problem handled.
Give me the poor barista who applies for the job not knowing its a mafia front. Who just thinks its some weird rich people business venture because nobody really buys coffee there but it never goes out of business and oh my god that is not a bag of coffee grounds that is a bag of so, so many drugs.
Teacher-parent AUs? Hey, guess what, my child is actually a werewolf but hasn't had his first change yet and we all just assumed he was born human except oops, he isn't, because he just suddenly became a little snacksized werewolf in the middle of detention and you're screaming and he's stuck in his desk chair howling and wow you are absolutely right when you say teachers do not get paid enough to deal with what they do.
Hi hello yes, I'm the private tutor you hired, what a lovely little family of... 5.... 9.... 15 children you have. I'm so sorry to hear you're single, Mrs. Henderson. I'm sure their father would be proud you're raising them so well. What do you mean there's no father? What do you mean you made them? What do you mean; 'would I like to see the lab'?
Just. Give me some flavor sometimes.
How do I tell an entire indonesia based dnd server that the people behind Serverstuck (all of them only knew them from their pathfinder podcast & only aware of the homestuck homebrew module they made, not the entire server activities) aren't good people?
This is highly concerning because one wrong move in that homestuck server like having a character who's 25 years old dating a character in the 100s years old can lead to a ban for age gap
Even a mere 2 years difference between allowed kids age (13-18) can get someone banned
If they're the type of people to ban you for reasonable age gaps, they're likely not the type of people to listen to reason. You can certainly send them some information and resources on the situation, but it would likely result in you being banned anyway.
If you do want to reach out to them and inform them, I'd first create a back-up server of your own design and control and get it fully functional and ready for other members (and maybe even bring some members in) beforehand so you're not out on your ass with nothing if they do bring down the hammer.
(Or find a different server which suits your needs rather than building your own.)
You should always approach education in a milder manner, without superiority or aggression. Often the biggest mistake people make when trying to raise awareness of something or change people's views is stampeding in and acting shitty or snotty about it.
I'd gather a range of evidence from different sources, not just just one. Tumblr, Youtube, online articles, any official broadcasts or publishings, ect. This way there's no doubt about the information, bias, and there's a range of references. (So they can't just dismiss the information given because its a "witch hunting Tumblr post" or what have you.)
If you're concerned about being banned, frame it as bringing it to attention for the greater good of the server and the people within it. Banning such age gaps is often down to simply not wanting to appear to be a bad person or someone who supports bad things, so you can weaponize that to a fashion. But of course tactfully and carefully.
For example:
"I've been researching this topic for a long time now and I feel confident that its appropriate to reach out and make sure you as the mods and admins of the server are aware ofâ"
where the hell are minor proshippers supposed to go?? like just not post or make anything till they 18 or
The unfortunate reality is that a lot of proshipping revolves around adult topics and topics which are largely, by law, age restricted. Exposing minors to or engaging with minors regarding or even providing minors with access to such things can come at a very real, very legal cost.
And yes, yes. I know. Minors aren't fragile little glass things who shouldn't know about kink and sex until they're 80, but the law is the law, and even the people who acknowledge that someone who is 17 is absolutely looking at porn and having sex do not want to be thrown in jail or fined.
That and muppets on the internet will see anyone over the age of 18 interacting even casually with someone under the age of 18 and start dragging them across the internet as a rampant pedophile, so.
That said, there are a fair few minor-friendly proshipper based or friendly blogs also. You just have to sift through and look for them, and I do highly recommend thoroughly checking them out and keeping a hawk's eye on them because a lot of the time they're "infiltrated" by people looking to deliberately cause trouble.
This is a common complaint minors in fandom spaces as a whole have (which is vastly understandable). I'm considering creating a masterlist of minor-safe spaces and blogs potentially in the future.
