Doesn’t matter how cold it is - if there is a beach, Ansy will head straight to the water, take off her shoes, & go for a stroll. Rain (her Vaporeon) would often walk alongside her &/or go for a swim. This is before or after that walk, as Ansy takes a moment to reread Mizumi’s letter.

PS: how to spot a time traveler: since before the 1940’s Japanese was written vertically, while in modern times, it’s horizontal. Poke-Japanese (Hisuian / Sinnohese / Kantonian / etc.) seems to work the same way. Mizumi likely adjusted for the time period she now lives in, but since she’s writing to her great-great-granddaughter, no need for that.

DxP REWRITE - Ansy

Meet Ansy! She’d been traveling around the various regions of the Pokémon world since she was 15. Originally from Cerulean City in Kanto, she spent most of her life in Unova’s coastal towns when she’s not off in another region (see her full timeline here!). Now that she’s married, she’s been traveling with her husband, Ikrit.

While she reached Champion rank in a few regions now, she’s not the strongest battler (often just barely wins lol) & is a bit of a klutz, but cares a lot about her Pokemon. As she got older, her maternal instincts have gotten stronger, as she discovered in her most recent journey through Paldea lol.

Her great-great-grandmother, Mizumi recently gave her the storied Azure Flute & her Froslass, Yukina (as seen in the Scarlet x Violet Epilogue). This comes from the very neat fact that if you have a completed save of Legends Arceus (aka have befriended Arceus), & then make a save in BDSP, you will have the Azure Flute in your room, implying that it’s a family heirloom that has made its way down to you:

Also yes, in-game Ansy got to actually travel with Mizumi’s Froslass via Pokémon Home because I love immersive gameplay (seeing as I literally make these comics / drawings about my experience playing these games lol).

DxP REWRITE - Sasmu

Meet Sasmu! Like Mizumi to Ansy, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree from her great-great grandson, Ikrit, though with a little bit of Akari’s more tsundere sass mixed in there lol.

As such, she takes the place of Akari as Professor Laventon’s assistant in the Hisuian past. I imagined her as a woman ahead of her time: very intelligent, more accepting of things like Poké Balls & outsiders, etc. In the 2 years since Legends Arceus, she had become a very capable trainer herself, carrying a full team of 6.

(Yes, these are still Fire Emblem names - just exclusively from Fire Emblem Fates’ Hoshidan characters lol)

PS: as of the update (see below), her kimono has ume (plum) blossoms embroidered on to replace the sort of “Glaceon flowers” I threw on there before. Ume is a late winter / early spring flower like sakura (cherry blossom) that blooms before the snow is spent, symbolizing hope & resilience at winter’s margin. ❄️

DxP REWRITE - Master Post

“Diamond x Pearl REWRITE” is both a “rewrite” of BDSP & a second story in the Hisui region of old involving my & my husband’s trainers, Ansy & Ikrit, along with their ancestors Mizumi & Sasmu, as they travel along with a pair of familiar monochromatic train twins.

The title “REWRITE” also refers to how in both Diamond & Pearl as well as Legends Arceus someone wanted to “rewrite” the world, & how this story reimagines modern Sinnoh if it included more from Legends Arceus (among other things~).

I feel like Emmet & Ingo would know where all the best railways are in the world, Galar definitely being on that list. Meanwhile, Ansy sometimes reverts to her old shy, awkward self in moments like this - she very much wants to help Emmet feel better, but also wants to be careful what she says

DxP REWRITE - Emmet

Meet DxP’s version of Emmet! When I played BDSP I thought Barry was…annoying lol. I had the idea for this story around the time I decided to finally play Shining Pearl, so I had the thought of just naming the rival “Emmet”.

When I squinted, I saw Barry’s striped jacket as Emmet’s striped Subway Boss coat, & interpreted his impatient running around as looking for clues about Ingo together with Ansy & Ikrit.

Apart from that, Emmet’s about the same as he is canonically: likes to spread smiles as much as he likes to smile himself, & “likes winning more than anything else!”

He seems to favor Electric, Bug, & Steel types as well as fossils. I could’ve just given him his Unovan team, but in my headcanon, there’re customs rules about that (my reasoning for why we can only have Pokemon that’s in each game). Although, it does appear that he has a little stowaway passenger who hid in his cap or coat lol.

🔽 After some thinking (mostly thanks to this Sword / Shield Submas run I’m playing), I decided Emmet & Ingo do nickname their Pokémon after rail terms after all lol. Most of them should be pretty easy to figure out - meanwhile, “Yurei” is short for “yureiresha” or “ghost train”, a word I heard constantly in a subbed Submas compilation from the anime lol.
