and she cares for every soul around her

and tends to the gardens of forbidden territories

that no one will dare to water

i know a girl

who looks in a mirror and sees darkness

who stopped accepting compliments

when she was nine

who matured ten paces too fast

and i knew a girl

who gave every sign possible

who pursued help and was denied her pleads

who was labeled revolting untruths

that nobody would dare to deny

in fear for the sullying of their own names.

so yes, i knew a girl

i wish i knew her for longer

i wish I’d known more

i wish i couldve been there

but now she’s just a girl I knew.
