Danny gets adopted by Bruce, and they know that he knows they're the bats and birds, but he fully does not want to participate.
Danny had been raised in the occult, but he'd seen it from a very scientific angle. He was never taught from the ivory tower, and had no preconceived notions about the systems in place. So when he performed magic, it was very unusual. Where other magicians believed in making everything precise and true to form, Danny knew exactly how to do the barest minimum to get the job done.
No fancy summoning circles if he could just write the entity's name on the ground, no goats blood when eggs would work just fine.
So when Batman has to call in help from Constantine to stop some magic shit happening in Gotham, and they need to summon an avian demon to the living realm that needs a host of bird flesh, Damian gets upset at the idea of sacrificing a bird for the demon's host and complains about it to Danny.
So Danny, being the good brother that he is, pulls a bag from the freezer, marches down to the cave and finishes the ritual himself before the bird can be killed and forces the demon to inhabit a frozen bag of dino nuggets.
The picture of Danny giving Damian a piggy back ride is honestly so cute I might die.

It’s absolutely wild how I can go from a romantic Danny x Damian fic, with SMUT too, right to a platonic Twin!AU.
Love that our main characters now have the prison of Aaravos, the key of Aaravos, and a person who Aaravos has demonstrated he can control and puppeteer. Love that the main gang has collected all of those things into one place. Love that for them. I can’t possibly imagine how this might end very very badly for them at all
My theory is that Aaravos gave humans dark magic because he saw what they could do with primal magic, and decided to get rid of the obstacle. I figure he created the idea that “humans can’t do primal magic” himself so he could better control them.

Can we just talk about this real quick?
Before Callum, all of this was thought to be impossible. Humans just couldn't do magic without the use of a primal stone or, in the case of dark magic, a sacrifice. The Earth is round, the grass is green, and humans aren't capable of this☝️
And remember Callum has a photographic memory. Some of the spells above he learned earlier in the same episode or even on the spot.
We're so used to it at this point but it's not normal.
Not to mention not only did he successfully perform his first dark magic spell, he walked away corruption free and still more powerful.
Shit if I was Aaravos I'd want him on my side, too.

I’m actually so scared for Callum, because there’s been a lot of foreshadowing that hints towards a dark future for him. Such as Aaravos controlling him, or Soren asking him at the beginning of season 4 to be careful with magic.
I hope next time Callum is confronted with a choice between Dark magic and his loved ones, he finds a third option.
I think this is something worth pointing out that I think (some) have overlooked.
That look—Callum’s look—is one of defeat. He had escaped, his group had won, and his even gotten a second Arcanum for his troubles, something that I don’t think anyone has ever been able to do!
But he had to use Dark Magic to get there, and in his mind, that means he failed. In case anyone says that Callum is willing to break his principles at any time for his loved ones, ehhhhh no. That’s the look of unbridled shame and self-loathing. That look shows that his morals are real, they exist, and even if he failed this test, there will be others in the future.

This has probably been commented on before but I love Callum’s “I’m afraid, Rayla. What if I’m on a path of darkness?” “Then take a different path, dummy.” And then Viren’s “I find myself here at these horrifying crossroads because I have followed a dark path.” “No matter where you are on the path, no matter what you’ve done before, every step forward is a choice.” The Callum and Viren parallels are truly insane
I don’t know if anyone else noticed this, but episode 3 of season 4 and episode 8 of season 5 of The Dragon Prince have a different intro than the other episodes. Instead of Viren being turned to stone, we see Callum holding the cube in his place.
Both of these episodes contain instances where Callum is influenced by dark magic. In E3S4, Callum is mind controlled by Aaravos. In E8S5, we find out that Callum has used dark magic again.
I can’t say I’m not terrified for Callum, what with all the foreshadowing. But whether he eventually succumbs to dark magic or not, I’m sure there will be some big fallout for his relationships when people find out he used dark magic again.
I just wonder what the cube has to do with anything. Maybe Callum eventually frees Aaravos, accidentally or on purpose?
For everyone who loves fanfiction, tiktok, tumblr, and other fandoms sites I have some information that you should see.
There are bills like KOSA, the RESTRICT ACT, and others that might be passed which could affect all your favorite social media sites, and even ao3. These bills can also damage online privacy, security, and access to certain helpful sites such has suicide prevention resources (this refers to KOSA in particular). The dangerous part is that these bills pose as something helpful, when in reality it will be used in ways that harm others. For example, KOSA claims to make kids safer but it actually restricts access to LGBTQ+ content and other life saving resources.
You can go to a website called “badinternetbills.com” to learn more and take action. Please email and/or call your representatives to prevent these bills from being passed!
Before ao3 I used to use fanfiction.net, and switching to ao3 was the best decision I ever made.
Ao3 is actually massively culturally important and very very good at being what it is. I’m so serious when I say that ao3 needs to be protected as the anti censorship, by fans for fans, nonprofit, volunteer run, expertly designed archival site that it is. You don’t have to read or like fanfiction to understand that on principle, ao3 is a site that should be defended.
Okay never mind, ao3 isn’t all fixed because it is being repeatedly shut down by religiously and politically motivated hackers through a “DDOS” attack. So that’s great. Good luck to the ao3 staff that have to deal with this issue, we love and appreciate you!
In the meantime, I have a few suggestions for readers during these trying times. It seems like ao3 has brief periods where it functions, so I would recommend that people find long and complete fics they’ve been wanting to read. Then download them because we have no idea how long this will be an issue, or when the site will be down again. The way I do it is by downloading them as a pdf on my iPad, and then saving it to the files app so they’re all in one place.
If you don’t want to download things you could also just open up a tab with a fic and click the “entire work” button so you have the whole thing opened already. You can do this with multiple tabs.
Alternate sites like fanfiction.net or wattpad are always an option as well, but I’m not that desperate yet.

feel like i need to watch this movie 3 times but one thing i thought was an interesting change from the graphic novel was that very little of the destruction in the final scene was caused by nimona herself - most of it was because of the soldiers shooting at her as she made her way to the statue. and then the director attempting to wipe out half the kingdom just to kill her. it really drives home how queerphobia is based on unfounded fears and how a society that vilifies us and mocks the value of diversity in general is only hurting itself.
another big change is nimona risking her life to save the kingdom from itself, a kingdom that always hated her (after one guy showed her there might be something worth saving). though i love the graphic novel's take on it too i think both endings are brilliant in different ways. to me it shows the shift in nd stevenson's work, from a story grounded in righteous anger when he was young and in the middle of processing a ton of trauma, to one that reflects a confidence about who he is and his place in the world as a bigender person fighting for justice. nimona saying "it's time to rewrite this story" is so fucking meta

the great thing about loving sapphic ships in an aspec point of view is that I value their friendship above all else. So as long as they continue to have scenes together, especially where they’re becoming best friends, I’m happy nonetheless. Even if they’re not canon, the friendship aspect is what drew me to the ship so I’m able to be happy knowing their best friends in canon and that in my own delusional head they also have gay tension and later a realization they may want to be more. But not in an overt romantic way cause that’s the aroace agenda I’m spreading here lmao
