This Is So Cool And Really Interesting!
This is so cool and really interesting!
The English name âCatwalkerâ is nice and it works, but now I prefer/like the more clever original French name âVelvet Pawsâ due to what @little-mari-on-a-roof said above. I understand why the name would not translate the best for those who are unfamiliar with the saying.
Iâm still going to refer to Adrienâs short lived persona as âCat Walkerâ because that is how he is more popularly known in the English MLB fandom and the fist name I associate when I think about him.
I want to join the French âMiraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noirâ fandom too but I donât understand French well and Google Translate can only get me so far.
Today the french dub for Kuro Neko came out and it turns out that catwalker's original name is Patte de velours, lit. "velvet paw" and I really love it so here's a little explanation of the name :))
In french, the saying "patte de velours" means to retract one's claws (when talking about a cat) or to hide one's true intentions beneath a friendly and kind exterior. Which is pretty much what Adrien does in the episode. His claws are physically less sharp, he refrains himself and he acts all perfect to get ladybug to like the new him.
And just like catwalker, it also hints (but in a way more subtle way) to Adrien's involvement in the fashion industry because of the word "velours"!

Some people will stand up and fight for injustices happening to fictional characters but won't show the same passion to stand up for real, actual living people.
Just found something, that could be either good or bad, depends I guess...

... Idk how to feel about this anymore.
But rejoice Pinocchio theory haters! He won't be magically turned into something he is not.
He just has to break the control over him or get the object with the Amok into his hands.
... I can breathe a little better now. This is a good abuse parallel.
No, but seriously, that doesn't make any sense.
Sentimonsters don't have free will when someone is holding their amok. They can't resist or talk back or disobey the way Adrien has been doing since the literal canonical start of the series.
Hell, the first time Adrien tried to run away to school Gabriel explicitly told him not to do that again. And what did Adrien do? He disobeyed.
The only other sentimonster that even attempted to resist was Feast and it could only do that because it's amok was in it's stomach. Touching the damn thing wouldn't make a sentimonster more obedient when you're already holding their "free will" in the palm of your hand. Gabriel fiddles with the ring because it's a physical representation of his obsession with Emilie.
Why wouldn't Adrien follow Gabriel when called? He's Adrien's father sperm donor and this is probably the most Gabriel has talked to him since Glaciator 2.
And Adrien being a sentimonster is literally contradicted by Chat Blanc not listening to Gabriel when he ordered Adrien to ash Ladybug.
Also, I won't be acknowledging tweets from creators that have trolled the fandom for literal years.
(No, I will not be taking constructive criticism at this time.)
âRiskâ was an amazing episodeâŠbut the most ooc behavior came from ChloĂ©?
Chloé, who worked with Marinette to prevent Adrien from moving to Japan last season? That Chloé is now completely fine with Lila snatching him up? Fine with Adrien leaving Paris for months?
