A dream land - DP X DC Prompt
Okay, so I was thinking about that episode "Perchance to dream" where Bruce is trapped in a dream world and this, even thought really different, came to my mind.
Danny is king or prince of the infinite realms. He's been working on personalizing/decorating his castle in the infinite realms. When he feels someone walking just outside the castles walls. The thing is, that someone isn't a denizen, they aren't in a corporeal body, but he can feel that they are very much alive and feel distinctly human. He approaches the person to ask why and how they are in the infinite realms, but they fade away before he gets the opportunity.
Clockwork, who was with him at the moment, tells him that the visitor from the living, was just the soul projection of someone that was sleeping, and then refuses to elaborate further. Since it's something that was to do with sleeping, Danny decides to go and ask Nocturn, it seemed like a reasonable assumption that he was the one at fault for the soul projection.
Contrary to what he thought, Nocturn informed Danny that Sleeping soul projection was a natural phenomenon that he didn't control. The land of dreams, ("My domain" - Nocturn reminds him), was in the infinite realm after all, and those who have been close to death sometimes slipped they're whole soul instead of just their mind, and ended up all over the infinite realms.
It isn't too different from a lucid dream for them, the body gets all the benefit of the sleep, the mind feels rested if they had a good time in the realms. Except, if they hurt their soul too bad during their little trip, it would have real consequences. Loosing memories, abilities regression, migraine, pain that reflects the soul damage, all either temporary until the soul healed, or permanent and deteriorating, and in some occasions finishing in the persons death. In the latter, the soul is usually too damaged and cease it's existence, or have enough ectoplasm and emotion to form into ghosts with crack cores whose existence is instantly in danger.
Danny clearly didn't like the image that was painted to him, so he asked Nocturn if there was really nothing that he could do. It took a lot of talking and convincing, but eventually Nocturn admitted he could be able to direct the soul projecting to appear on a certain place, but he refused to babysit anyone. Which was enough for Danny, all he needed to do was make another expansion in his castle.
He decided to make a garden to receive their soul projecting guests. The garden was enormous, with all kinds of spaced within it. Playgrounds, picnic spaces, soft benches, tables with ghost and space teamed board games, fountains, and of course, the beautiful flowers that surrounded and decorated the place. Once he got ghosts with gardening, protection and caring obsessions on the place to look out for the souls, he was ready to receive them. It took him by surprise the amount of people that came, the garden was never crowded, but was never empty either, and souls of all ages and places were visiting at all times.
He kept expanding the garden as he heard of new things their guests wished for. He enjoyed spending time in the middle of the garden where souls passed by but rarely appeared, it was calm, but not completly quite with the background noice of the soul enjoying their dreams, and he could do the more mundane king/prince work. Until, he starts getting a regular visitor on his little space of the garden.
Choose the DC character you prefer, my idea is for people who hasn't died in the past but has been in the doors of death (so died and came back would be disqualified but you do as you prefer), but I'm going with Tim.
The soul of a boy around his age appears just in front of him, as usual when he greets new arriving soul, he welcomes him with a gentle smile and tells him he is free to explore the garden. A ghost taker is assign to him. The soul, as usual, seems confused and like he wished to asks questions, but seems content to ask them to his tour guide, and Danny continues with his own duties.
But then, the same soul continues to appear in the same place every two or three days, they exchange greetings and every time talk for a bit longer before the boy leaves to explore once more. It's rear to have multiple visits from one soul, even more so for said soul to appear in the same place every time. By the four time, Danny decides to take a break on his royal duties and accompany his new friend.
~ They get close, and have cute scenes, Tim asks a lot of questions and Danny answers and not-answers a lot of questions ~
One day, Tim shows up as usual, but he is in full Red Robin costume, and well, Danny wasn't expecting an identity reveal.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
On the Bats side:
There's an attack of some villain that's able to put Red Robin (or character of your choice) on a sleeping beauty type of sleep while carrying a serious injury, were he stays sleep until teammates or backup gets him out of it. The event affects his soul, making him disconnect partially from the land of dreams and making his soul sleep project almost every time he sleeps.
Tim starts sleeping more often. It's worrying at first, Bruce being paranoid does every test in the book, despite Tim saying he's just finding sleep easier now. But, he was just affected by sleeping magic and suddenly his sleeping easier? Seems like a side effect, and that makes it worrying.
Tim's health in general improve, just like he's concentration and productivity. Who would have thought that working rested actually was more productive than working on less than three hours of sleep and missing obvious details and clues due to how tired you are.
With everything not only being okay, but better than before, paranoia about Tim's new sleeping schedule soon dies, and instead is replaced with teasing about how he used to refuse to rest kicking and screaming, and now he may sleep more than any of them.
On Tim's side, he's loving being able to soul project so often. He knew from the start he was in a different dimension, and he just wanted to know the hows, whys, and everything else. So far, he seems to do it at least once every three days, and he's even gone two times in a row a couple of times.
The garden had a lot of things to do, but Tim doesn't care about that, he's more interested in all the information he's getting. The first 3 times he was given different ghost nanny's, who were more focus on entertaining him and didn't really answer direct question. But then king/prince Phantom decided to accompany him personally, and everything went smoother. He was going back to get to know more about this new world, and maybe to know more about the cute prince/king too. He might also have gotten some better looking pajamas.
Now, he has a mission that takes more than a couple days with some people in his team that hasn't yet sen his face. He didn't realize how difficult it would be to do all nighters after getting used to a sleep schedule. He would usually try to go as long as possible without sleeping, but he decides that he should take advantage of the safety of where they're staying and sleep a bit too. He ended up soul projecting in full Red Robin costume. He tried to play it cool, maybe Phantom wouldn't know it was him.
"Red Robin, even if you didn't appear on the same spot as always, I can feel your soul. I know who you are."

Dick x Danny is called "Death Defying," but I've also seen "Dead circus" or "Green Elephants" though less frequently.
Duke x Danny is "Ghostlighs" or "Deadlights."
Danny x Cass is "Dead silent"
I think Bruce x Danny is "Spirit Halloween" which I have no idea how it came to be, nor find it's logic, but it's the only one I've seen, even if I rarely see it been used.
On crossover ships that don't include Danny we have:
The famous "Anger management" for Jason x Jazz.
"Double edge sword" or "Serious Chaos" for Damian x Dani(Ellie).
Don't know if there are more named ships, might include them if I found more later.
Danny x dc ship names
I fucking adore these ship names, they give me so much serotonin😭
Danny x Tim = deadtired/braindead 10/10 name makes me giggle and kick my feet
Danny x Jason = dead on main 9/10 makes me smile
apparently Danny x Damien = dead serious 9/10 makes me chuckle
But I don't know Danny and Grayson ship name :((

Okay, it would be hilarious if Damian joined in pointing at each other out of shear confusion and feeling left out. Another photo is sent to the bat family group chat and chaos ensues once more. From then on, that photo is the one they use every time they want to use the meme.
Maybe Bruce and Vlad ends up co-parenting the quadruplet demon kids? And in turn all of the bat family. Vlad doesn't know how to feel about the amount of kids, he just wanted a perfect son, and now he could create a football team with his kids. Bruce has long resign to getting new kids every time he steps out of the mansion, he's not even going to address the teasing.
DPxDC Demon Children Are Multiplying
This idea is still stuck in my head, and I might even end up writing something out of it, but for now, I just thought of something equally really, really stupid and really, really funny.
What if I combine that idea with Al Ghul Twins. I don't know how. Maybe Talia was cautious about Ra's not wanting to keep two kids for a position of Heir, or maybe she staged Danny's death, or maybe something else entirely happened. But anyway, Danny is Damian's twin.
Then, Dani is the same age as Danny in this AU. And Dan is de-aged to be the same age as both of them.
Now behold an absolute train wreck of a situation where Bruce attends a Gala hosted by Vladimir Masters. Together with Damian, of course, and maybe other batkids are there too. They all part their ways to make their rounds or whatnot. And they all keep seeing Damian wherever they go. Just everywhere.
Dick is talking to someone, and Damian walks past him, not paying him any attention. Which is not surprising, but a little rude, and, wait, wasn't he wearing a red tie? When did he change it to green one?
Tim is just going on the top floor to greet a lady he recognizes from some other event, and Damian all but storms in the opposite direction, only letting Tim catch a glimpse of his face. But when Tim turns around, he is really confused: the person running down the stairs is clearly a girl, albeit she is wearing a suit. Her long hair is up in a complicated braid. Why did he even mistake her for Damian?
But the ultimate confusion happens when Bruce is talking to Vladimir Masters, and a very familiar voice calls, "Father". Because both he and Vladimir turn to face the boy and ask, "Yes?" at the same time.
Damian is standing there, looking between Bruce and Vlad. He looks a little off somehow, but before Bruce can figure out why, the boy blinks and focuses on Vlad.
"We've been looking for you," he tells the man, and, wait, when was Damian looking for Masters? Furthermore, who is we?
But then another child comes closer. And-
That's Damian.
That's two Damians.
Wait, no, none of them are Damians.
"What is it?" Vladimir raises an eyebrow, not paying too much attention to Bruce's blanched expression.
A third child comes towards them, and this one also looks like Damian, only this one is a girl.
"Template's duplicate is here," she says, and Vlad frowns, turning to the Damian lookalike in the middle.
"Have you had another incident that I don't know of?"
Whatever answer the boy wanted to give is cut off by a n o t h e r child who looks like- no, this is real Damian, thank God, Bruce had started to wonder if the champagne was spiked with hallucinogens.
"Father-" he stops in his tracks as the three other children turn to him, and the four of them just stare at each other for a long moment. Then the one in the middle takes a sharp breath in and stage-whispers:
"Quick, do the meme!"
And all three not-Damians start pointing at each other.
Bruce is going to have an aneurysm. Judging by Vladimir's face, he is also not far from one.
Just my ramblings under the cut
I think you all know what meme I'm talking about, but I'm still gonna add it
This is so fucking hilarious to me, I'm sorry, I just can't
Danny is not missing this opportunity of a lifetime, even though Vlad specifically asked all three of them not to cause a scene. And yes, they all call Vlad "father" just for the spite of it or for shits and giggles. I'm going with Bad Fentons idea here, although I'm not sure to which degree they are bad, but anyway, Vlad is their legal guardian, and he is redeemed.
Yes, Dick took a picture. Yes, it's already in the group chat. Yes, other batkids are going wild.
Damian is greatly confused because, first, he thought there was a clone of him at the gala, but apparently, there were three of them, and second, why are they pointing at each other? Should he join them? He is under the assumption his brother is dead (he's not exactly wrong on that account), or he doesn't even know he existed.
This is as far as I got now, feel free to add anything!
Danny's parents had asked to talk to him with a serious tone one afternoon. It was weird. They barely interacted because they spend so much time ghost hunting or in their lab. The few times they did interact, they were happily ranting about ghosts or complaining about Phantom.
There was also the passing comment about his grades, but he had already accepted that his notes where never going to go back to the A's and B's he used to get. It was already an accomplishment that he had managed to balance things so that he was passing everything.
The point was, Danny and his parents didn't interact much. So asking for a conversation in such serious tone had him dying (again) from anxiety. He was getting ready for the worst, thinking they may have found out about Phantom. He had his friends waiting just outside the door, and a Phantom comm in his ear, in case things went south. He could have never expected they would throw an arranged marriage on to him.
He could hear Tucker and Sam laughing both through the door and the comms. It took him a minute to reboot his brain and ask for clarifications. Apparently, he was meant to be wed to one of the Wayne wards. Those rich people from Gotham he had heard Sam parents talk about in the past.
How did that even happen? How does small town Fenton middle class family end up engaged to the Wayne's? Apparently mom comes from a rich family, to which she and aunt Alicia had cut contact with, but her arranged marriage never really got resolved. She had been contacted about it just the day before and they had decided Danny was the one to be wed.
Why was he the one that was getting push into a marriage? Jazz was the older sibling, shouldn't she be getting married? Danny tried not to get offended when his parents implied that it was because she actually had a future. She was still the straight A student in college, and he would barely graduate school. They had told him it was the best for him to be wed into a rich family, and for a second he wandered if he had traveled back in time to the 1600.
He didn't even know his family had in any way a status that allowed for arranged marriages, even less for an arranged marriage that hold the richest person's assets hostages. And now he was meant to go with an arranged marriage her mom had scaped from!
At this point he didn't think his life could get any more weird. Except, when he received the letter from the Wayne family, Sam had informed him that his to be husband was dead. Was that a joke? There were even news about he's death throughout the internet. How does an arranged marriage get resolved with one of the people being legally death? Because, yes, Danny was death, but legally he was alive!
But that didn't even matter, because Clockwork had appeared to tell him that this would solve the issue with the observants pushing for him to get a ghost marriage. So, his to be husband was a ghost, or at the very least a denizen. With both his life and his after-life pushing for the marriage, Danny just resign himself to his future. He hopes he at least get along with his husband.
Alfred: I am afraid I have some bad news. Earlier today, I received a notice that the arranged marriage between Master Bruce and Lady Madeline had not been voided like Master Thomas had once hoped. Bruce: Wait I was in a arriage marriage? Alfred ignored Bruce: There was an error in the process, and his engagement was passed to the next generation. Now that Mrs.Fenton's children are of age, one must wed into the Waynes, or the Waynes' assets are turned over to the Fentons. Bruce: WHAT?! Alfred: I understand that none of you would commit so I took the liberity of rolling a muilti-faced dice. Congratulations Master Jason, your fience, Mister Fetnon will arrive tomarrow. Jason :HUH!? BUT I'M LEGALLY DEAD! Alfred: Yes, which is why Mister Fenton accepted, believing he wouldn't have to commit. What a surprise this will be for him. Tim: Thanks for taking one for the team, Jay. Dick: Yeah, the rest of us nepo-babbies appreciate it. Damian: We shall forever remember this bravery and sacrifice.
Danny didn't like this. The walls weren't really pushing too strongly, it had been easy to stop them, but it has been hours. It was starting to get difficult.
The people in the room were collected in small groups. Probably staying with the people they knew, or those who they had felt kinship to during the kidnapping. Weather it was for sharing some characteristic like close age, or similar clothing style.
A guy that was probably a year or two older than him was beside him. Danny guest it was the closeness in age that pushed the boy to talk to him. They had talked in hush voices for sometime, and Danny found he was named Tim.
He was apparently a celebrity of some sort, or at least that's what it seemed from what Danny could hear from the other groups whispers. But he wasn't arrogant, nor was he bragging about it, so Danny payed it no mind.
As time passed and stopping the walls from closing had started to become difficult, Danny had stopped actively talking. Tim had frowned asking if he was okay, but Danny just shrugged saying he was tired. Which he was. Why wouldn't the rogue stop the mechanism after seeing it wasn't working? Wouldn't it still be consuming energy or something?
-It seems the rescue is taking some time, huh? - Tim said looking up to the exit.
Danny limited himself to agreeing with a hum. Panic had long abandoned the room, replaced by a lingering anxiety, murmurs and whispers filling the air. They were lucky no small children were taken, or they would be dealing with crying.
Danny looked forward catching Ellie's eyes. He tilted he's head in a question, which she answered moving her hand in a so so motion. Then she signal in his way with her head returning the question, and he just shrugged. He was tired, but he could hold it for long still.
He worried about how long Ellie would be able to do the same. She didn't have the same resistance as him, and still tended to destabilize when she overdo's it. Danny has a couple of ecto-shots in him, but he would prefer if it didn't came to that.
Maybe it was not wanting to be in the way of their gazes, but no one has sited or standed between him and Ellie. He was grateful for that, they had been able to check on each other the whole time. Tim sent him inquisitive look everytime he did, but didn't ask.
It was obvious he and Ellie were related. Anyone would guess they were siblings with how similar they were. So it was probably weird that they had decided to sit on opposites sides of the room in the situation they were in. Luckily, Gothamites are really good at minding their own business.
Danny could see that a boy was also sited besides Ellie, but their conversation had also died when Ellie started running low on stamina.
Truth be told, it would be easy for him and Ellie to make it out, evacuating the rest of the people may be burdensome though still possible, but not without revelling themselves.
Maybe it was selfish, if one of them hold their wall while the other evacuated, they probably would have already gotten everyone out. Danny could even have used duplication to hold both walls and make it even less chaotic. But he refused to risk their identities, not with the anti-ecto acts allowing people to hunt them. Either way, if things continued this way, they might become too exhausted to get anyone but themselves out in the end.
How much more will the the local vigilantes take to getting there?
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Tim had gotten himself kidnapped in his civilian identity with Damian. Which was always a pain, because they couldn't just fight their weight out of it. Worse of all, it wasn't even a direct attack on them, it was a group kidnapping. Tim was pretty sure the rogue didn't even noticed he had gotten a couple of Wayne's on the group.
He had catalogued that there were 54 other people with them in the room. No one has any restraints on, so probably the rogue was confident that no one could make it to the exit. The room was more like a big whole in the ground, only exit was 10 foot upside.
He has tried to call someone, but phones weren't getting any signal. Damian and him had activated their panic buttons too, they can only hope those are working well. But with how long it had been, Tim had the suspicion that isn't the case.
A simple room with a large group of hostages, and no restraints, with a camera in one corner of the ceiling that was probably recording them for ransome. It should be one of the best situation for a kidnapping, except, the only thing keeping them alive at the moment were two meta kids.
The walls had started to close at a fast pace when they were reaching the first hour mark, and then the walls stopped abruptly. Or that's how it would seem if one wasn't paying attention. What actually happen was that two kids had stopped the walls from continuing to close. When chaos started to unravel within the hostages, scared for the walls moving, the kids ran to opposite walls, and as soon as they touched them the walls stopped moving.
They're meta abilities must be giving them an incredible strength to be able to stop the walls so casually. Tim and Damian had decided to separate to keep an eye on them, maybe give them a hand if they were able. He had found it was easier to go through civilian kidnappings if he concentrated on what he could do. Even if it was just looking out for their meta saviours.
They were similar, to the point Tim would think they were twins if the girl wasn't clearly younger. He had sat besides the boy while Damian was with the girl. The meta siblings checked with each other every so often, not outwardly screaming but it wasn't exactly subtle either. He did the same with Damian, but with the signs they used on patrol and complementing with sign language for any specifics.
The boy's name was Danny, and Damian had signed Danielle for the girl. There was a small fuss after Damian sign her name, Danielle telling him something with irritation in her face. Probably didn't like being full named by Damian. Damian seemed amused by her antics, and Tim almost laughed at him when he finally sign that she preferred to be called Ellie. Apparently got him to call her by her preferred name, which was a huge achievement with the demon brat.
Talking with Danny had made time go easier. He was quite intelligent, loved space, and never passed an opportunity to make a pun. Tim made a mental note to never let Dick meet him. It was fun talking to him, and Tim found the small quirks he showed while they talked quite cute.
He had almost forgotten that Danny was holding the weight of the wall, until Danny slowly started to shut down, only giving small answers and humming for him to continue talking. It must be starting to take a tall on him, and taking a look at his sister he guessed she was having a hard time too.
Tim really hoped the others were here soon, he didn't know how much longer their friends would be able to hold the walls.
DPXDC PROMPT
Danny and Danielle are sitting on opposite ends of a room full of people, with the only exit being the middle of a 10-foot high ceiling.
The Gotham rogue who captured them is getting increasingly irritated that their trap to move the walls closer isn't working while the Bats are getting closer.
Tim knows Danny is lying. It's not only the fact that urine doesn't smell like that, but also that Danny was a terrible liar. He was so dumbfounded by the excuse Danny thought of that he couldn't continue with the questioning at that moment, as Danny scrambled to leave the dormitory.
He knows Danny placed a formal request for a new roommate. What? Danny's his new puzzle, of course he's keeping tabs on everything that involves him. It's easy for him to make the request disappear.
Next problem is that Danny must have found another place for whatever he is hiding, since the smell disappeared almost completely. With the serial killer case, he doesn't have time to investigate were it went.
The obvious approach should be to question Danny about it again, telling him he doesn't believe him. Honestly, not even the must naive person would have. The problem is that at this point, Danny probably already had thought of a better excuse, and Tim isn't sure how far he can push it before Danny decides to just leave.
Danny's already leaving the dormitory way earlier in the morning and going back way later in the evening to prevent meeting with him. He had made other 3 formal requests disappear.
The serial killer may choose another victim soon. So maybe he'll focus on that to let Danny calm down once more before trying to approach him again.
Tim is so focus on his mystery that he doesn't realize that Danny fits perfectly with all the other victims profiles until he noticed Danny following the teacher for a "problem in his last assignment."
Tim is going to college. Not because he's actually going, but because he's investigating a possibly-serial-killer professor and when he goes undercover, he tends to go all the way.
But there's something stranger than his professor.
It's his roommate.
He and his roommate have their own closets.
His roomate's closet smells....super weird. Familiar, but weird, and Tim can't place it.
He's trying, but it's getting to the point where he's getting distracted from his actual case out of sheer curiosity.
His roommate will duck into the closet, come out with his steel water bottle full and looking flushed. He refuses to share his drinks. He's secretive about even a drop of it coming out.
He goes to open the closet while his roommate is out...and it's locked. With multiple layers of security. Tim only barely noticed prior to triggering one of them, and quickly played it off as tripping over something and running into the door.
With the deadline for when the professor will choose his new victim upcoming, Tim doesn't have time to break through that security.
And, logically, he knows it's probably just a distillery, but he has to know.
So, he asks.
Daniel Fenton stares at him with wide, horrified eyes.
"You can smell that?" He asks, voice cracking.
Tim nods, still pretending like he think's it's a hard drug and that he's running an intervention.
"Look man, if you need help-"
"Urine Therapy." Daniel blurts out, looking horrified and glancing at his steel water bottle on the bed.
Tim wishes he heard that wrong.
"Urine what?"
"I...it's..it's piss. I'm drinking piss. I really...sure do love doing that. Yes." Daniel rambles, voice getting higher and cracking more by the time that sentence is done.
Or; Danny needs to drink ectoplasm due to the reduced levels of it in Gotham compared to Amity Park. He thought he could get away with keeping it in his dorm closet, but when his roommate Alvin Draper asked, he said the first thing that came to mind. The second thing he did was put in a formal request for a new roommate, because he is never, ever, going to be able to look that man in the eyes again.
Due to the eyes changing with the attitude, they're going to assume mind control of some type. Every time the new villain shows up their dealing with trying to save their attacker, who's clearly much more stronger than all of them.
Luckily, despite clearly having the power to do so, the new villain never actually hurts them. It has become a sort of improvised training session. With the new villain fighting by their rules and adjusting to their strength.
If they fight with fists, he fights with fists. If they fight with knives, he fights with knives. If they can fly, he flys. They're becoming stronger and are gaining stamina. If they're being honest, It's all gaining on their side.
It would even be fun if it wasn't for it always ending with their new training mate apologizing between subs before disappearing. They need to solve whatever is happening so they can bring they're new friend home with them.
If anyone saw this for a moment earlier when i accidentally hit post, no you didn’t
The Ultimate Enemy ends a bit differently. Though Danny does still overcome his evil future self, Dan leaves him with a few parting gifts for his trouble.
Danny is thrown into another universe, and his obsession is distorted. Where it once was Protection, now all it is is Violence. One last-ditch attempt by Dan to make Danny into a monster like him.
However, Danny’s human mind is still intact. So despite feeling the perpetual urge from his ghost half, he can keep it in check. Somewhat.
But not entirely.
So he becomes a Rogue. He doesn’t like it, but what else can he do? He needs to do something.
Of course, he does his best to minimize real harm, to focus his attacks on those that deserve it - the polluting factories, the corrupt businessmen, and all others that exploit people. He tries to eke out as much nourishment for his core as he can from the engagements, especially the fights against the heroes that come to stop him.
But it’s not enough. He still knows he’s causing harm and hates every second of it, even as his obsession sings at being fed.
The heroes notice. How could they not? A powerful, young, villain who clearly doesn’t want to be doing what they’re doing but seemingly can’t stop? There must be something else going on. Some force pushing him to do this.
And they’re going to save him from it.

Danny had somehow gotten to the DC universe and got stuck there. The DC universe is quite behind in technology compared to DP universe. He took a page out of Vlad's book, and after being adopted by a rich family in Gotham who's business was suffering, he used his knowledge to get the family back up to the top.
He was helping kids in bad situations, or on the streets to get good families in other states, but from the Wayne's points of view, the kids were disappearing without trace. They think he's managing a human traffick circle, and there's also some strange project that seem dangerous under the curtain (Aka, trying to build the portal, making ecto-weapons).
Dick starts dating Danny to get prove of what is happening. But he's not finding anything and he's falling in love with him, hating that he's getting feelings for such a terrible man.
I really loved reading it, and the last I saw Dick had just found "prove" for the trafficking. Don't know if it had updated till then, but I would love to re-read it either way.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Wow, this is super efficient. Thanks to @timeageusveryquickly for finding it.
Is the one called The Adoptive Son, I really recommend reading it, it's great!
Danny would be seething if he found out that all his suffering and stress could have been cut short long ago if Constantine had read the complete reports.
"All this stress, all this pain, all this fear of fading/dying, could have been prevented if you had read the reports as you were meant to do!"
The Justice League has yet another meeting where Batman is looking at all of them like they are misbehaving little kids, and reminds them that reports are meant to be read completely for a reason.
Tim was really starting to get worried about his new brother.
Danny moved into Wayne Manor after his parents were arrested. Jack and Maddie Fenton opened a portal to the infinite realms with no way of stopping any of the world-ending threats. They let the ghosts wreak havoc and never once closed the portal.
Danny had gotten some sort of connection to an ancient being. The Justice League Later found out that the ancient being was using the connection to gain a way to stay on Earth. They were able to sever the connection but Danny is not getting any better.
Since the attacks in Amity Park started Danny has been getting sicker and sicker. He got paler and started to bruise more easily. But after they severed the connection he seemed to no longer have energy.
Even now that they have gotten him away from amity park, nothing seems to be helping. It's been 3 months with no sign of getting better. they're on their last straw and they finally decided to get a magic user to try and help. unfortunately The person who knows the most is Constantine.
Constantine walked into the room with Bruce. Danny had no idea that they were connected to the Justice League and they were hoping to keep it that way. They don't want to stress him, especially with how sick he is. Constantine and Bruce stopped in front of Danny.
Bruce tried to use a gentle tone and said “ danny I know you're having a lot of trouble so I called in someone to help “
Danny had an apprehensive look.
“Kid, I just need your hand,” Constantine said as he reached out a hand. ”I'm not going to do any creepy shit, I'm just trying to make you better”
Danny reluctantly placed his hand onto constantines. it was a few minutes before Constantine Swar under his breath.
"What is it” Bruce demanded.
”the little ghosty left a parting gift”
“that's not an explanation”
“the kids got a neverborn”
“What's neverborn?” Tim asked, interrupting their conversation.
“The closest equivalent I can make is that technically Phantom got the kid knocked Up”
Danny doesn't have time for this. Whatever this is, he doesn't have time for it. He has his Infinite realms history class with Dora in like 10 min, and he refuses to be late again. Last time he was late, Dora gave him such a disappointed look that he almost wished to disappear out loud.
He isn't even in charge of political meetings yet! Hell, he hasn't even started those classes with Pandora. Why did they call him and not his council? Why is Wonder Woman on the front continuing to talk formally? Can't she see he's just a teenager?
"... therefore, the Justice league, has summoned you, High King Phantom of the infinite realms, to discuss the possibility of an alliance agreement."
That welcomed discourse was unnecessarily long, seeing as it could have been summarized in one sentence. Will he have to do things like that in the future? He definitely isn't looking up to it.
The room is completely silent and everyone is looking at him with expectant looks. Shit, what is he supposed to do now?
"Um..."
Yeah, no, this isn't Danny's business. Danny has places to be and classes to take. He's not dealing with this.
"Look, it's cool that you want an alliance with the infinite realms, but you'll have to talk it out with the council."
There was a minute of silence in the room, and the heroes looked at each other before a man in a trench coat proceeded to talk.
"Are you not the High King Phantom of the infinite realms?"
"No, I'm Prince Phantom of the infinite realms, not the king yet. I- Ugh, I don't have time for this, I will be late for class."
Danny joins his hands and a green light shines within them. He can see all the heroes take defensive positions, probably expecting an attack. Which is stupid, if he wanted to attack them he wouldn't have waited for Wonder Woman to finish her discourse. All in all Danny thinks he's doing a pretty good job at the whole being diplomatic thing, for someone with no training.
When Danny opens his hands, he lets a green orb float in front of him. He gives it a small nudge and it floats to the guy in a trench coat as everyone looks at it with apprehensive looks. The guy in a trench coat doesn't seem interested in touching it whatsoever, but that's not Danny's problem.
"Use that to get a meeting with the council." Danny says as he lowers to the ground to activate the return sigil in the summoning circle. He activates the returning sigil and before he disappears he says. "Heads up, you should probably look into the anti-ecto acts before trying an alliance. You're welcome."
Once his back in the realms, Danny proceeds to break his own record in speed flying. He makes it just in time for class.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
I feel like this is a bit underwhelming... It was funnier and better in my mind, but oh well.
DPxDC Prompt
The justice league was informed by a dark member that the infinite realms crowned a new monarch and they are eager to summon them to do a threat assessment and possibly strike up an alliance, depending on how similar they are to their predecessor.
The issue?
Danny is the new crown prince, but he isn't old enough to take the throne at 15, he needs to be at least 25 years old in human years or fully dead. So right now he has no power in the realms, he is just a figure head with no authority. He technically doesn't know a single thing about how the realms are run…
All that ruling stuff is handled by the council, the observants and the ancients.
Fast forward to Danny forced into full royal regalia by summoning magic and summoned into what looks like a meeting room. Blinking he turns his attention to the colorful cast of characters that have summoned him and is greeted by a very diplomatic sounding woman in a cape.
Maybe he shouldn't have decided to wait till he was eighteen to start those diplomatic lessons with Pandora… because right now he feels like he just walked into somewhere that he really needed them…
Duke was just about to start today's patrol, when he's boyfriend rushes through he's window and clashes against him. Duke doesn't have time to even question anything, because Danny is shaking in his arms. His shaking, and his crying, and he looks so scared.
Duke decides that he's not patrolling today.
He scoops his boyfriend in his arms, whispering quite comforts. He may not know the details, but he can still tell he's boyfriend that he's safe now. Duke takes him to his bed, and covers him in the galaxy blanket that Danny loves so much. He spares a second to tell the other bats that he isn't going on patrol and then centers all his attention on Danny. Caressing his fingers through his head and letting him get it all out.
He's never seen him so scared. They've talked about their past, their fears, their trauma, but Danny always treated everything with a certain casualness that made it seem like he had moved from it. Even while talking about his death, he didn't trembled this bad.
Duke didn't know what to do other than keep hugging him and telling him that he was okay, that Duke will keep him safe.
Eventually, Danny stops trembling, and melts into Dukes embrace, holding his head against Dukes shoulder he finally talks.
-Sorry for breaking in just before your patrol started...
-No, Danny, I'm happy to receive whenever you need me. You'll always be before my job as a bat. Always.
Duke can feel Danny do a small nod in his shoulder as he keeps caressing his head.
-Can I ask you what happened? If you don't feel ready to talk about it you don't have to, but I'm here to listen if you want sweetheart.
Danny takes a shuddering breath before speaking.
-My... parents, just showed up on my door.
Duke holds Danny tighter. He had heard all the stories about how the Fentons had treated Danny. How they used to follow him around with ghost hunting equipment when he was a teen. How when they found out he was the teen they've been hunting they screamed that he wasn't their son anymore. How they screamed that he was just a monster that they wanted out of their house, and out of Amity at that second.
-Did they- Did they hurt you?
Danny shook his head.
- I- I wasn't expecting them. They were not able to say a single word before I flee... I didn't even know they knew were I was...
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Don't know how to continue from there. I'm not good writing this sort of scenes, haha.
Tagging people who wanted Duke/Danny:

Feeling a bit angsty so I had this idea.
Danny is dating one of the Bats/Birds, and everything is going great, amazing even! They know each other secrets (from powers to everything etc), they have a wonderful place to live (even if its in Gotham), Danny is in college on the way to becoming a space engineer (and he does side jobs for unrestful ghosts), he's actually getting sleep again since leaving Amity Park, gets along with their friends and family (those who Danny or his partner still talk to, up to the writer), there is even talk about marriage and perhaps adoption/kids in the future between Danny and the Bat/Bird he's dating!
Everything is setting up for a good life in his future, something Danny didn't think could have after his accident. He was happy finally, and currently packing up his old apartment because he's moving in with his partner in a few days.
So he felt like his core was being pulled out of him when he opens his apartment door one day receiving a knock to find his parents, who had hadn't seen since they kicked him out of the house after coming clean about being Phantom (their words of anger and denial that their son was 'dead' and now a monster, still hurt)
Sure they didn't attack him or proclaim he's dead but still their last words and anger HURT.
Danny didn't give them a chance to open their mouths, both looking nervous and guilty, before he slams the door close and turns invisible, grabs his phone, and fly's out of his apartment to his partner's place in a panic attack.
His partner, isn't happy.
So, is it a clean cut that was cauterized the moment it was cut? Or is it magically keeping all fluids inside? Because otherwise, Danny is suddenly bleeding like crazy, and ghost shenanigans may safe him, but if he's in public… Imagine Danny growing a new arm in public, or in front of his parents. It would be one hell of a reveal.
Or, Assuming we don't have to deal with Danny's ghost side showing in Danny's blood, and healing isn't that good. Everyone is suddenly scared that Danny may die of blood loss, quickly being rushed to the ER. Since this is Amity, people would assume the lost arm was caused by ghosts, and that would be a whole other problem.
On the bats side, I think the arm doesn't bleed as much as the open wound, but still, that's dripping blood. The bat's would need to put that arm in ice if they wan't any chance of reattaching it to Jason's soulmate, that's if Jason soulmate isn't dying from blood loss right now. Now they're rushing to find Jason's soulmate because an arm would be viable to reattachment for only like 6 hours. Jason thinks he just ruined his soulmates life, and he hasn't even met the guy.
This was possibly the worst way he could have met his soulmate.
IdeaDpxDc—There are better ways to meet someone.

Dead On Main. Soul mates.

"Exactly... what does this ring do?" The shining ring was still attached to his finger. This wouldn't worry him if it weren't for the fact that, with each passing minute, the ring emitted more light, and that can't be good.
The cult leader refused to speak. He wouldn't even look at him, seeming particularly attentive to the material the floor was made of. Very funny that now he was scared of him when, an hour ago, he was giving a very cliché speech about how humanity was doomed because it would summon the evil of evils.
It wasn't very smart of him to perform his summoning precisely in Gotham City, home of the Dark Knight.
Red Hood was getting impatient. He placed the hand without the ring on his weapon; if words didn't work, a real threat to his life would. And this didn't really break Bruce's 'no killing' rule because the gun was only loaded with rubber bullets. However, just as he was about to advance and shoot the guy, he saw Batman grab the leader's tunic collar and lift him up.
The man, of course, screamed in fear. "Speak, what does that ring do?" No jokes. Batman's voice was deeper than usual, showing that he was upset, no, rather angry.
Or worried, but Jason could never consider that possibility. For the moment, he was only surprised, although it didn't show through his helmet.
"I-I don't know," the leader replied. Poor guy, he seemed about to cry. Batman, not content, tightened his grip even more; he wasn't willing to tolerate a lie this time.
Red Robin raised an eyebrow. "You managed to gather a bunch of magical artifacts for your summoning and you don't know what they do?"
The man looked away. "No..." The rest of the cult members also looked away. Very brave and stupid of them to all agree to lie to the bats. Jason himself wanted to mock them, but the ring kept shining. He couldn't mock when the ring kept shining and he didn't know what it meant.
From the communications, Robin could be heard. "Tt, this wouldn't be happening if Hood hadn't put on the ring." Jason suppressed a growl.
"Kid, I didn't put on the ring. This thing stuck to me the moment I touched it." It was true. In the middle of the operation to stop the ritual, Jason had pulled the ring, which at that moment was a kind of necklace by the chain that ran through it, from a member who was wearing it. The ring in his hand began to glow and suddenly teleported to his ring finger, then stopped shining. It was when everything calmed down that the ring began to release a different, but constant light.
Approximately ten minutes have passed since then, he thought as he looked at the ring, ignoring all the magical stuff; it was actually a very simple ring. Suddenly, the ring began to blink.
Oh, no. That couldn't be good.
Batman, fed up with the leader's silence and his followers, threw the man meters ahead. "Oracle, call Zatanna now, we need more information about the ring," he ordered as he approached the man who was in pain from the fall. The guy, terrified by the violent aura of the Dark Knight, tried to retreat.
Finally, Nightwing stepped between the man and the brutal beating he would receive if he didn't speak.
"It's okay, B, calm down." With his hand on his father's shoulder, Dick tried to ease the atmosphere. "I understand your concern. We are all worried about what the ring might do to Hood. But we can't let fear and anger control us. Hood is important to all of us. He is our brother, your son. We can't lose our cool now. Let's call Wonder Woman. If no one wants to talk, she can help us with the lasso of truth."
Total silence. Jason didn't know what to say; he didn't think his family would react like this over a blinking ring. That is... he doesn't know. Suddenly, the ring's light began to blink faster.
Batman, after Nightwing's words and seeing the change in the ring, understood that he couldn't waste time with someone who wouldn't talk. "You're right, thank you Nightwing." Looking at the others, he said: "We need to act quickly, we don't know the effects the ring might have on Hood. We need to take him to the cave for a thorough analysis, no discussions." The last part he said looking at Jason. "Until then, don't try to take it off or use it."
Jason scoffed, as if he would.
"Oracle, you heard, call Diana. Red Robin and I will take care of the rest of the cult. Nightwing, take Red Hood to the cave." Batman began giving orders as he reached the leader and began dragging him towards the rest of his cult. The leader, in a failed attempt, tried to resist. "Agent A, please prepare a stretcher. Understood?"
Everyone nodded.
On the other hand, the touching speech and the strange family moment of the bats seemed to soften the heart of a girl from the cult, who in a whisper said: "The ring, nothing will happen to him." Although she spoke quietly, everyone present heard her.
The leader, panicking that the information would be revealed, exclaimed: "Catrina, shut up!" However, he was struck by Batman, who was already fed up with the guy.
"What do you have to say about the ring?" he asked.
The woman hesitated to speak. "We thought of using the ring to subdue the king of the dead and make him listen to our orders..." She paused, not knowing how to continue. "There is a real legend about the ring. A long time ago, a witch wanted to know who her soulmate was, so she created the ring. This allows one to be guided to their soulmate through the red thread. I think everyone already knows what the red thread is." Nervous, she looked around. Only Nightwing nodded, and that was enough for her to continue telling. "Well, the witch's red thread connected with a prince. Unfortunately for everyone, the prince was not happy that his soulmate was a witch. So he had her killed." The girl looked at her hands; that part of the story was sad. "The witch was angry, but still wanted her soulmate to accept her, so she rewrote the ring's original purpose. It was no longer something that united you with your soulmate, but now it was something that allowed you to subdue your soulmate... uh, this." She pointed to a book that was lying in a corner. "With another spell, in fact, it can be used to subdue anyone, even a king of the dead."
With the whole story already told, Red Robin asked: "So, what is the ring doing to Red Hood?"
"It's tracking his soulmate. I... didn't get to put the other spell on it. I could only activate the ring's primary function. Your brother will be fine."
That definitely changes things. Jason swore he could hear his heart beating. A soulmate, wow. He admits he's read many romance novels and maybe once dreamed of it, but for it to actually happen, wow.
Suddenly, the ring stopped blinking. Five seconds later, everyone saw a red thread shoot out from the ring's gem. It quickly moved in one direction, went through the wall, and kept going. The process was like a fishing rod when it catches a fish.
"Does this mean it already found its soulmate?" Red Robin asked. Astonished by the red thread, he tried to touch it but his hand went through it; apparently, the thread was intangible to anyone else.
"Yes," the cultist also seemed astonished.
Jason felt a look on him, turned, it was his brother. Oh no, not that look, he knew that smile; Dick would tease him so much in the coming days. For his part, Batman sighed in relief. Well, it wasn't such an extreme danger, but it was still dangerous. "Agent A, cancel the stretcher." He never imagined this would mean a soulmate case. "Oracle, don't cancel the call to Zatanna or Wonder Woman, we need to verify the information. We'll stay here until the police arrive."
How nice it would be if everything ended like that, right? With Dick joking with Jason, Tim analyzing the thread, Barbara laughing at the turn of events, Bruce relieved and Damian surprised. However, one must remember the story.
The witch changed the ring's original purpose. Unexpectedly, the thread began to retract, as if it had caught something. It did so so quickly that Jason grabbed his hand in pain. It was then that everyone had a bad feeling. The wall the thread had previously passed through suddenly exploded, the noise and dust alerting everyone, especially when once the chaos disappeared, something horrific could be seen.
An arm. A fucking arm. Apparently freshly torn from its owner. Oh, no. What did it do to his soulmate?
...
Somewhere else in the world, somewhere in the United States, Danny gasped in pain. What the hell? What was that? Ancients! Where is his arm?

Meanwhile, Danny is regretting ever taking that cooking class. He should have waited until after he moved out, or maybe ask Tuck if he could use he's kitchen. But no, he went ahead and fought reanimated food with the microphone open!
What does the other ones in the call even think that happened? It's not like "oh, he's fighting reanimated food" is the logical conclusion. He hopes they're deciding to ignore it, like must Amity people have done with every red flag he's shown.
He's never taking online classes again, he's never cooking again, takeout food is good enough.
I am trying to find a writing prompt from last year.
Basically Jason Todd teaching an online cooking class, that Danny Fenton is trying to learn from but keeps accidentally reanimating the ingredients and one day he forgets to turn off the microphone as he has to kill the reanimate fish. And Jason is then going to investigate what the heck fighting he just heard.
If anyone knows and has the link to it . Please repost it here. If not feel free to make up what you would think happens next here.
I think one of you guys reposted it. @arzuera @azulhood @bianca-hooks123 @dragonsrequiem @dcxdpdabbles @evilminji @fightmebissh @flamingpudding @hdgnj @hypewinter @im-totally-not-an-alien-2 @ourrechte-blog @starlightcat04 @stormikitty @zylev-blog
Okay, but I can see that been the drop that finishes Danny's patience. He's doing he's best to lay low and survive until Phantom finds he's way back to him. Having to hear the Wayne's talking about how Phantom won't be able to reach him again in comforting tones, as if that wasn't what was killing him right now.
He thought Red Huntress and his parents abilities to blame everything on Phantom were outstanding, but they're nothing compare to the Justice League and their "he's using you to reach the world of the living."
With his body deteriorating by the day, and Ellie's core getting weaker as time goes by because he's feeding off of it, instead of it feeding off of him as it was supposed to, Danny was hanging by a thread. And now this con artist comes in and tells him his been knocked out by himself?
Danny couldn't help it, he started laughing. It was long past ridiculous. He must have looked hysteric because the con artist went ahead with a pitting look and made it worse.
"Don't worry kid. We can get rid of-"
"You touch Ellie's core and there won't be an Ancient capable of stopping me from ripping your head off your body!"
Stunned silence filled the room, and well, maybe that was the wrong move, but Danny was in survival mode and extremely tired. It's inevitable that he would snap if they threatened Ellie. There was a silent conversation between the three men that were in the room with him.
"Danny, I know this isn't easy," Started Bruce "but your body it's been deteriorating, this thing it's -"
"This thing it's Ellie's core, and it's the only thing keeping me alive right now. Which it's bullshit because the whole incubating thing it's supposed to work the other way! But no! The league of imbeciles had to get their noses where they weren't called!"
And, more stunned silence. There goes laying low until Phantom found him. Whatever, at this rate Ellie was going to fade before Phantom came, and then Danny was going to die, and then Phantom was going to fade too. The Justice League should be proud, their getting an endangered species back to having just one member. That's if they didn't ruin things for Vlad to, Danny doesn't have a way to know.
"Danny..." Tim brought Danny back to the present. Feeling the burning sensation in his eyes, he realizes tears have been gathering in them, but he can't be bother to keep them back. "What do you mean by the only thing keeping you alive?"
Danny bites his lip and glares at the floor. He isn't sure he wants to explain, what would even be the point? He's tired, and angry, and worried, and scared for himself and Ellie, he doesn't want to talk to these people. The Wayne's are kind, but they're basically cell keepers for him, people tasked with keeping him away from his other half.
Bruce kneels in front of Danny, looking him in the eye with a protective determination. One that somehow just makes Danny feel worse.
"Danny, if Phantom has-"
"Fuck, Phantom isn't the problem!" Danny jumps to his feet, almost hitting Bruce. "The problem was the fucking Justice League being unable to listen! If they had listen, they would have known that Phantom wasn't any Ancient possessing someone! They would have known that I was Phantom!"
Danny could see the color draining from the con artist, a contrast to the worried gazes Bruce and Tim were sending him. Of course they don't believe him, they think Danny is being manipulated by Phantom. Danny starts pacing.
"They come into my haunt, months after their not needed anymore, months after everyone has settled to our new normal, and fucking rip me apart! Acting all heroic as if they were rescuing me, and then throw me here to die! They're so lucky that an apocalypse hasn't started yet! Because that's usually what happens when you separate a Halfa!"
"But Halfas are supposed to be extinct" The con artist mumbled and both Bruce's and Tim's whipped their head to look at him. Horror setting into their faces as the guys words confirm that what Danny is saying is true, and not something he's been pushed to believe by Phantom.
"There's no such thing as extinction in the infinite realms. All there have to happen for a species to come back, is someone dying the right way."

"Bruce, please. I know parents loose perspective when it comes to their own children, but most of these are adults!"
"The only one that's still a minor is Damian." - Added a man with pale skin who probably just reach his 20's.
"I'm leaving." - Danny said, turning to leave the Manor.
"Common Danny, I can't possibly leave them unsupervised." - All the "kids" glared at Bruce, not that Danny could blame them for it. - "And Alfred is on vacation, your my only option."
Danny pinched his nose and then turned to look at the youngest - "How old are you?"
"14. I am completely capable of taking care of myself. This whole ordeal is unnecessary. You can leave." - Said the kid crossing his arms.
Danny gave Bruce an unimpressed look but Bruce just said - "Danny, someone has to look out for them while I'm gone, please. You owe me one."
"And I can't believe your using it for this." - Danny said exasperated. - "Okay, sure, whatever, I'll babysit your teen and adult children. If this is what you want to spent your favor on, then go ahead."
"Thank you Danny. Kids, behave yourself with Danny." Said Bruce as he left the room with his luggage.
Danny could see how all the "kids" in the room rolled their eyes, and he was sure a girl whispered "we're not even his kids, what are we doing here?" to another girl in a wheelchair. Danny limited himself to a long sight.
"Okay." Danny turned to look at the young adults and the teen in the room. "I guess presentation are in order. My name is Danny Nightingale, and I'm a distant relative of your... Father, parental figure and/or adult that looks out for you(?). As it seems, I was left in charge of keeping you from bringing the city down in flames."
"It's always good to meet new family! I'm Richard Grayson, but, you can call me Dick. I will be staying at the manor for a couple of days, but, I actually live at Bludhaven right now so..." - A man that seemed to be in his mid twenties said. He most be the optimistic of the family, Danny thought as he nodded to him.
"My name is Damian Wayne and as I said before, your assistance is not required here Nightingale, it would be better if you leave." - The kid said taking his attention from Dick.
"Pleasure Damian, unfortunately, I do owe your father a favor, so I will be staying."
"Tt"
The kid may be the one that give him the must trouble, which is annoying since he's one of the few he does need to keep a close eye to. Danny already wants to go back to his lair.
"Well, I'm Stephanie, this one here is Barbara. We both are not Bruce's kids, so you can forget about us after we leave."
"You both spent enough time here to be consider his kids. If we can not scape the babysitter, you can't do it either." - The one who had pointed out that Damian was the only minor before said.
"Common Tim, my own father living with me at the moment. I already have a more adult adult looking out for me, so this babysitting can't possibly apply for me by definition."
The three of them started bantering and Danny turned his look to the girl standing beside them. She nodded and pointing at herself said - "Cassandra. Cass."
Danny nodded back, then turned to look to the only 2 that still hadn't presented themselves.
"Um, I'm Duke, and no offense dude, but, I'm pretty sure I'm to old for a babysitter."
"I know, I know, I also think you're to old for this." - Danny said while rubbing the back of his neck - "and you?"
"Jason. I have my own apartment, so don't bother "looking out" for me. I can't believe the old man called me for this shit."
The summary of the introductions: We don't want you here. Danny's starting to wonder if the favor he owns Bruce really is worth this. He was expecting to be call for some kind of magical/ghost problem, or maybe some world ending catastrophe. Isn't that what you call your cousin who also happens to be the king ghost for?
Danny took one more long breath.
"Okay, so, let's just talk ground rules and contact info." - Everyone is looking at him like they can't believe he actually said that, but well, he was left in charge after all. - "I'll be managing the kitchen since I've been told more than half of you are banned from it. Don't get yourself killed, don't get other people killed, don't make anything that would get the police, the firefighters, or an ambulance involved. You know, the basics."
More than a couple of the "kids" snorted, and Stephanie got close to Tim and whispered in his ear - "Great, we have to play normal civilians in front of our babysitter."
And really, Danny which they would. He would prefer don't getting involve in their vigilante life of Gotham. He already solved all his vigilante business long ago, and the king business is enough on his plate, but then again, that's the real reason why he's babysitting adults.
"For your night life," - Everyone freeze at the mention. - "I won't be joining you on patrol, but I'll be on the cave and manage any medical emergency. Y'all need to get a general check up after your patrol, it's not optional, but I'm sure Alfred has already told ya that. Dick, do you debrief on your apartment on Bludhaven?"
"... Um, yeah... Who-"
"Great, I'll be there for your own checkups when you go back." Danny snapped his fingers and pisces of paper appeared in front of everyone. "There's my phone number and my summon sigil. For the summon sigil you just need to hold it and call for Phantom, and I'll be there. Well, that's about it, you can go do whatever you want."
Danny was ready to disappear in the hallway and go for his bedroom in the Manor, which he hadn't seen in a decade or so, but he's sure it's still the same. Unfortunately, the kids suddenly seen really interested in keeping him in the same room as them.
Bruce has to go off-world for something since he does not trust his children to not destroy Gotham while he is gone, he calls up his cousin to watch the kids. (Grown up) Danny shows up and has to wrangle his cousin’s children. Danny is full-on expected to be babysitting a bunch of little kids, he is surprised when most of them are adults.
Bruce's kids didn't expect to have a babysitter---they are not pleased. So they decide to make Danny's job 10x worse.
Danny wasn't originally going to butt into their patrols, but they're being annoying. So Danny messes with them on patrol.
(Alfred is on vacation and the thing Bruce has to deal with is short notice. Bruce did not want to cut Alfred’s vacation short)
Ellie(Dani) didn't realize how dangerous Danny's home was for him until he was more worried about her when she got her own home. - Prompt I think(?)
Ellie wasn't sure how to feel when Danny excitedly animated her to accept Arthur's invitation to live in Atlantis.
"Just if you want of course, but you'll get a stable home, and Frostbite said living underwater might be good for your water cores stability."
She had already been planning to accept the offer. Once she gave the guy an opportunity to have some sort of conversation, the guy was pretty chill, and the castle was pretty cool. So yeah, she was going to accept the offer.
But for some reason Danny's eagerness for her to go with Arthur hurt. It felt like he was trying to get rid of her.
She knew that was ridiculous, she didn't even live with Danny. He looked out for her, and was always a call away but, as much as Danny parents her, he was just a child like her. It made sense he was happy to give away the responsibility of taking care of her.
So when Ellie moved into Atlantis, she was expecting to hear less from Danny. After all, she had settle down, and he didn't need to worry about her adventures anymore. That was Arthur's and Mera's job now.
Weirdly enough, it was the complete opposite.
Now that Ellie was living with adults, Danny seemed MORE worried for her. They went from a call once a week or so, to almost daily calls in the afternoons. He would be more insistent about her telling him if anything was wrong.
He would ask specifics about the food she was eating, and her activities of the day, and her room, and the castles security...
Sam had told her that it was because he used to be able to monitor if she was eating well through the transactions of the debit card they had given her. Tuck had told her that he used to evaluate how safe she was through the phones location, and the hotels receipts.
And well, maybe she underestimated how much attention Danny put on her before, but the way the calls went made it seem like he thought she might be in more danger now that she had a stable home.
Which made no sense, because unlike him, she didn't even need to hide her ghostlines. Anything that was out of normal for Atlanteans was excused with meta-abilities, she didn't need to worry about being classified as a non-sentient species.
That was when it caught up to her. Danny was worried now that she was in a stable home because his stable home had always been dangerous for him. It isn't even a think of it being dangerous now that his a ghost, it has been dangerous ever since he was a child. She remembers all of Jazz's rants about how unreliable their parents have always been.
The food has always been contaminated. The security now attacked him directly, but there had always been a possibility of it malfunctioning and hurting the residents. Him and Jazz had always had the responsibilities of not only keeping the house clean, but the lab as well. If she tops it with the house security system attacking him, and his parents been ghost hunters...
Ellie hadn't found it too dangerous back then, Danny mocked Jazz rants with her, and Jack and Maddie were kind when they interacted with her in her human form. The Fentons neglect seemed liberating in comparison to Vlad overly controlling nature. But thinking about it now, after two months living in Atlantis, she doesn't like the picture.
She doesn't like the idea of Danny being somewhere so unsafe, but where would he go? He doesn't have a water core like her, and even if he had gotten sorta used to shapeshifting, he isn't good enough to live in a second form, which isn't recommendable either way. So he wouldn't be able to move underwater with her.
More so, she doubts that Danny would like to leave his Amity, he had taken the sole responsibilities of dealing with the whole humans - ghost conflicts. With the anti-ecto acts, there's no way he would leave the portal unsupervised.
What should she do now? Should she talk with Arthur about it? He said he was part of the heros friend group, what if they already know about the anti-ecto acts and are okay with it? What if they change hoe they act with her when she tells them she isn't actually an atlatean meta?
Especially if Danny is looking to the Shade while doing it. From Nightwing perspective,
The teen that just witnessed a murder is looking at nothing in front of him, describing the scene with such a plain and calm voice, he's clearly not doing okay.
Once the kids finish his retelling of the murder he says - I'm sorry you had to die this way. - while still looking at nothing.
Then, turning to Nightwing, says casually. - Hope you're able to find the killer, so that they can rest in peace. - and starts walking away.
- W-wait!
The teen turns around to look once more at the vigilante. - Yeah?
- I'll take you home.
- Um, thanks, but, shouldn't you be looking for the killer? - He turns his head a bit to the side.
And Nightwing should, but he doesn't want to leave this teen alone after what happened. If possible, he wants to be there when the shock passes and the kid finally processes what he's seen.
- I already have someone working on it. I'll come back and help with the search once you're home, what do you think?
It's not a complete lie. He's comm had been open all this time. Oracle has the description the kid gave him, and the call for a hand is implicit in his speech, he can trust that someone will start searching on the perimeter while he accompanies this kid home.
The kid looks at him seemingly confused for a minute, then finally shrugs, and keeps walking, Nightwing follows.
DPxDC What's the Big Deal with the Dead
TW, I guess: corpses and mild gore(?)
Due to his life circumstances, Danny is absolutely unfazed by the dead things. Be it a still barely warm body in the alleyway or a half-decomposed rat in the dumpster. He is just okay with them.
That is not to say he doesn't respect the dead, he does, but he respects the contents, not the package. He is polite and gentle with the shades of those recently passed away, he understands their burial preferences, and sometimes he helps the souls to either find their way to the afterlife or bring justice to the ones who murdered them, or anything else if they need it and he is able to do it.
Granted, he lives in Gotham, no one here is really that fazed by dead things, but what I'm trying to say is Danny lacks that first reaction kind of instinct, the disgust and repulsion and the horror that people feel when they see a dead body.
So, one night on patrol, one of the Bats, let's say Nightwing, finds him crouching beside a body. He can see the blood on the pavement and the bullet wound on the chest of said body, and this is yet another innocent life that has been taken, and he couldn't stop it, he was too late.
Meanwhile, Danny just turns his head towards him, waves, and goes, "s'up".
Danny was tired. Tired of trying to explain that he was dead, tired of trying to explain that he was half a ghost, tired of being told he never died. He had thought that the bats reaction to the reveal was better than his parents. No one was trying to give him anti-ecto medicine to "cure him." So he had thought it was better, and that they would understand with time that he had died, but they didn't.
He never knew how much being denied your dead could hurt. The way he felt the electricity going through he's body, tearing him apart, while ectoplasm put him back together... It wasn't just an accident that gave him powers.
He understands the desire for it to be just that, denial helped team Phantom keep going after the accident. But even then, while pretending he was still alive, he knew he had died, and Frostbite confirmed it when he told him he was a Halfa.
He's friends had pushed through their grief and guilt, and accepted that he was half ghost, because they saw how much it hurt him when they tried to pretend he hadn't died. They could mourn together thanks to that. Why couldn't his new family do that?
He gave them time, accepting the new member of the family was dead, was not going to be easy, so he was patient. But it's been a month, and hearing them say how death was something that's just in his mind, hurts. They're denying his own existence, his worst experience, and it hurts.
It's been half a year since Jazz reported their parents for poisoning him. They had good intentions, they thought they were helping him, but their "medicine" only made him weaker by the day. He could feel that his core was finally strong enough to make a portal to the infinite realms once more, and a visit to Frostbite is due.
He was looking forward to teaching them about ghosts, about his ghost guardians, about his culture. He wanted to show them his castle, to show them the crown that would be placed in his head when he turns 100 years dead. Introduce them to his mentors. He wanted to go to Frostbite with Bruce, to finally be able to trust an adult to look out for his health as a ghost.
He wasn't so sure he wanted to do that anymore. They cared about him, he knew that, but he had already learned with his parents that meaning well doesn't always do well. Was it a good idea to take them with him to the infinite realms? What if they denied other ghosts deaths?
He's the prince, he shouldn't so casually take people that aren't even able to accept he's a ghost to the infinite realms. It is irresponsible, it's selfish. But Sam had told him that this would surely force them to accept his reality, and Tucker said it was worth the risk. It's not like they're ghost hunters.
As Jason came into the living room, being the last one to arrive, Danny took one last fortifying breath. There's no going back, Tuck is right, he needs his new family to support him. He can't live through what happened with the Fenton's all over again.
- Okay chum, everyone's here. What did you want to talk about?
- Yeah, well... - Danny started rocking from side to side. - I have an appointment with my doctor this afternoon. I was-
-Wait, you have an appointment with what doctor? We haven't scheduled anything with Leslie. - Said Tim.
- Ah, yeah, no, I'm talking about my Ghost doctor.
Danny could taste the disbelief in the air as they looked at each other, oh, there was also anger and pity there. What was there to be angry about? Ghost's abilities to taste emotions would be way better if he could also read minds.
- Danny, kiddo, - Said Dick oh so carefully, in that way he did every time he tried to convince him that he wasn't dead, as if he was talking to a confused little kid. - who's this ghost doctor of yours? Where did you meet him?
Oh! Right, they don't believe Danny is dead, so a ghost doctor must be a scammer. A scammer that's taking advantage of a vulnerable kid. That's where the anger comes from.
Danny took another breath, he should be given a prize for the patient he's displaying here.
- His name is Frostbite. - More frowns, oh joy - Met him a couple of months after the accident. - A couple opened their mouths to say something, but Danny continued before they had the chance. - As I was saying, this afternoon I have an appointment with him, and I wanted to use it as a chance to take y'all to the infinite realms.
- The land of the dead? - Asks Duke.
- I mean, there's not only the dead but, yeah. - There was silence for a moment and Danny decided to talk again. - I mean, if you have time to come.
They looked at each other once more, and then nodded.
- Okay, we're going with you. - Answered Bruce
- Really? Even Jason? - Danny asked hopefully. Jason was the one he wanted to be there the most. He needed Frostbite to take a look at his injured proto-core.
- There's nothing big in Crime Alley today, and I really want to meet this doctor of yours. - Jason said with a smile that didn't really hide the murderous intentions - When are we leaving?
And Danny knew they didn't believe him. He knew they were probably planning to attack the one they thought was taking advantage of him. But he was happy they were at least coming.
- 20 min. I want to have time to show you around some places.
Everyone runs to get ready, weren't expecting to be going out so soon.
Tasting the anger and determination left in the now empty room, Danny thought: "If this doesn't work... Well, It's not like I haven't been ready to give up on living in the mortal realm for months now. I can just not come back."
# Dcu x Dp 177
Danny is having mix feelings his parents believed that his powers were the cause of ecto contaminated and was making him sick and slow killing.
While the bat's and birds think that he is also sick they belived that the powers he has have made him think he is dead and have given him something called walking corpse syndrome
The batfam believes that Danny is a meta with Cotard's syndrome and are trying to convince him that he is not dead. While also making sure that he does not die for real because of starvation or injury/infection.
Cotard's syndrome ( aslo called walking corpse) a rare mental disorder in which the affected person holds the believe that parts of their body are missing, or that they are dying, dead, or don't exist
Shades weren't actually consider inferior or "not real ghosts" they were partial citizens of the infinite realms, just like zombies, revenants, city spirits and many others mortal realm based ecto-beings, or at least, they're supposed to be.
Pariah Dark had a purist mindset, any being that wasn't completely connected to the infinite realms, wasn't a citizen for him. During Pariah Darks reign of terror, the infinite realms were almost completely closed of from the mortal realms, unless Pariah was planning to conquer it.
With no contact to any other ghosts, the mortal realms base acto-beings were left with just Pariah Darks discourse of how they all weren't real ghosts, how they weren't real ecto-beings, and weren't accepted in the infinite realms.
Pariah Dark destroyed the system that was put in place by previous monarchs. Mortal realms based ecto-beings now didn't have access to the realms during Samhain. The permanent emergency portals on places where the veil is thin where closed. Guidance and aid from the realms was cut.
It all sucked. Mortal realm based ecto-beings (Let's call them the stranded, because that name is becoming to long) lost their access to health care, lost access to their species history, lost access to ectoplasm, they lost everything.
The stranded also lost any means to know what was going on in the realms. They didn't know the tyrannical terror that was unraveling there. All they knew was that the king cut them off, and that the infinite realms ghosts weren't showing up any more. After thousands of years, the stranded just accepted that they weren't consider ghost enough for the infinite realms and it's citizens as a fact.
Meanwhile, in the infinite realms. It took a couple millennia for the Ancients to finally figure they're differences and unite to trap Pariah Dark in the coffin of ever sleep. The infinite realms where a mess, everyone concentrated on trying to bring things back up, and no one thought about the stranded, who probably where doing better than them. Even after things got kinda sorted out, must ghosts had no idea how to reconnect with the mortal realms.
Fast forward to Danny turning on the portal, Feeding that mortal realm with the ectoplasm that it hadn't gotten in ages. Small natural portals where forming here and there, but with no system for the stranded to know about it, or anyone to seek them out.
Now, Phantom two years king, still dealing with Pariahs delayed paperwork, has just been informed about the existence of the stranded. No one bother to tell him that a huge amount of his subjects were cut from the infinite realms during Pariahs reign. Amity Park had one of the thinnest veils, so any ecto-beings there where infinite realms based, so he didn't even know they existed.
He's struggling with plans to speed run all the stranded process for citizenship and accomodations. He knows how it is to deal with suddenly being a different species while still being part of a mortal realm, but he had guidance from lots of ghost of the infinite realms. He feels terrible for all the stranded that had to deal with that on their own. Even more since most of them wouldn't be able to mask as a human and go back to their own life like he could being a Halfa.
He's reading through the incomplete records of the infinite realms support networks for the stranded that used to exist. Figuring how viable it would be to create them again, while opening well made permanent portals in hundreds of different mortal realms.
This, is what have the Justice League summoning the Hight King of the infinite realms. Out of nowhere, there are natural portals to the infinite realms popping up in random places.
"Not random, they're opening where the veil is already thin." - Constantine reminds them.
The portals doesn't seem to be hurting anyone, mortals can't even touch them, only those who have died before can see them, but they're portals to the land of dead opening out of nowhere! Some of JLD is even worried that they're mortal realm is collapsing.
So here they are, starting a summoning ritual, while Deadman is wondering if it is possible to die a second time from nerves.
DPxDC Prompt
It is common knowledge in the realms that a ghost that forms outside of the realms is a shade, an incorporeal being that rarely gains enough ectoplasm to interact with their environment, let alone hold a solid form.
Ghosts within the realms do not consider shades to be fully ghosts, they don't have the ectoplasm and they have never set foot within the realms in which all ghosts form.
But in the living realms, shades are the only form of ghosts humans ever heard of, let alone interacted with.
So when the Justice League makes plans to summon the king of ghosts, Deadman is understandably nervous being the only representing ghost, being held together by magic instead of ectoplasm at that. He isn't ashamed to say he was hiding behind Constantine, who knew if the king would be offended by his presence.
It probably would have been a good idea to inform everyone about different types of ghost before hand to avoid the absolute diplomatic nightmare that proceeded the Ghost King's arrival.
I feel like one of the first things Danny should mention is how Dan isn't actually just him. Dan was a fusion of Danny's ghost side and Vlad ghost side. Dan looks like Danny the most, but Dan is also Vlad, it is unfair to pin it in the child here. It wasn't just Danny losing everyone and going crazy, it was both ghost parts losing their humanity when their cores were aching the most.
The whole Dan time line follows a series of events so ridiculous that it is ironic it even happened at all. A teacher decides to do a meeting in a random restaurant instead of doing it in school grounds, as it should have been done. An explosion going randomly off in a restaurant that had never had any problem before. Danny confiding in Vlad of all people to get rid of his ghost side. Vlad actually figuring out how to separate the ghost side and Ghost Danny getting to do the same on Vlad, both ghost sides fusioning and killing their human counterparts...
One single thing out of line and Dan would have never existed.
With Danny now being aware of the possibility there's no chance he'll go on with the whole separating the ghost even if he is grieving the whole world.
Kill on Sight Orders
The Flash fam has a secret. Okay so they have a lot of secrets, but there's one above all others.
A kill on sight order.
In the worst possible future (one of them there's a lot), a beast named Phantom decimated the world. He took out the entire Justice League, the entire Justice League Dark, any and all small-time heroes that stood in his way. All of it. Everyone.
If they see Phantom as a kid, to prevent the slightest possible chance of Phantom being a thing, it's kill on sight. They all have anti-ghost weapons that can destroy a ghost's core, locked away in a secure facility that they can just run to and grab real quick to get it done.
None of them like it. None of them can risk it.
Bart stumbles into a town that doesn't exist, almost gets got by a ghost that managed to possess him, and gets saved by...Phantom.
A scrawny, teenage Phantom.
He's funny, makes puns, worries about if Bart got hurt or not-he's nothing like the Bad Phantom!
He's not gonna kill his new friend! No way, no how.
But he's gotta keep it a secret from the other Speedsters now, because he doesn't know who came up with that rule but they probably won't understand, and then he'll have a speedster fight on his hands, and no one wants that.
But the government keeps sending letters of complaint to Max, and Max keeps asking why the government is mad at Bart now, and Bart can't tell him "oh it's because there's this town that is off the record and a secret and also where phantom is and i broke in" because that'd rat Phantom out, and even if he didn't mention Phantom Max would want to investigate.
The mailman doesn't understand why his letters keep disappearing but he thinks it might have something to do with the Flash, because there's always a red blur.
Warning - Torture, dehumanization, trauma, dissociation.
Pain. That was what Danny had been waking up to ever since his parents found he was Phantom, and he started living in a cell in the GIW facility about a month ago.
Everything hurts, even with his enhanced healing, his body can't sustain the amount of damage his given in the daily. The lack of ambient ectoplasm in his cell doesn't help either. What's worse is that he knows this base line pain is nothing compared to how he'll feel before he goes to sleep that night.
Danny shrunk on himself, hugging his legs close to his chest. He wanted to try to go back to sleep, he had heard today's "session" was saved for the afternoon, something about the Fenton's wanting to prepare a special gift to honor their lost little boy's birthday.
Right, today was supposed to be his birthday, he had forgotten. It's not like it mattered, he was sure he wasn't going to like his pa- the Fenton's gift.
He hugged his legs with more force, shutting his eyes and trying to just drift away, forget everything.
Then, the pain stopped, not in the way it did when the numbness in his mind helped him forget there was pain. No, the pain disappeared, like it didn't exist to begin with. He didn't feel his constraints either, nor the cold of the floor, in fact, he's sitting in something soft... When did he sit down?
- kiddo, you there?
Danny shut his eyes open and looked to his side. A man in his mid-twenties with black hair and blue eyes was looking at him with a frown. He wasn't in a white suit, nor a hazmat suit, he wasn't from the GIW, what was he doing in his cell? Were they letting people come look at him like he was a circus attraction now?
- tt, were you asleep still? You're supposed to be prepared for this to happen. I can't believe Drake's soulmate is so incompetent.
A boy on the other side of the table said. A table? There weren't any tables in his cell, the only thing "decorating" his cell is a toilet...
Danny looked around, he wasn't in his cell anymore, he was at a dinner table, a huge dinner table. There were seven people sitting at the table with him, but Danny couldn't get himself to focus on anyone, he instead looked back at his hands, hands that weren't burning.
Not his hands. These were definitely not his hands. His hands had a plate drilled into them with his code as a GIW property.
They had found fascinating how his hands healed around the metal. They had found even more fascinating how it healed as good as new when they took it out, and how it healed around it again when they drilled a new one in.
These hands didn't have any metal drilled into it. They were paler than his in human form, but he was sure they were human hands, there weren't any green undertones.
- Did you not know about the soulmate swap? A mark should have appeared in your wrist, like, last week.
A blond girl sitting a couple chairs to his right said.
Soulmate swap? Fuck. He couldn't help when his hands started trembling. Of course he wouldn't know he had a soulmate, only 30% of people have one.
He looked at this body's wrists, his stylized combination of a D and P was sitting there. Ancients, that meant his wrists had some sort of mark from his soulmate, but with the constraints on his wrists...
The "swap bodies when the younger turns 16" being extremely low in Danny's priorities, so sue him if he didn't try checking either.
Hell, they were going to experiment on his body while some other person was in it! His soulmate will have to suffer being in a body that's in constant pain and they will have to go through whatever the Fenton's had prepared for that day.
Even if they screamed that they were not him, nor his par- the Fenton's nor the GIW believe him sentient enough to have a soulmate!
Danny was starting to feel light headed.
- Hey, hey, I need you to breathe with me kid.
Breath, right, breathing, this body needs to breathe. This body is completely alive, he can feel some liminality in it, but it isn't like his half death body. He can't just stop breathing to avoid hyperventilating as he usually does.
Danny tried to take deep breaths, following the man who had first talked to him when he got there. It was hard to not just start hyperventilating.
Fuck, the universe is really trying to kill him, isn't it? There's no way he's soulmate will know how to hide a core from crazy scientists experimenting on him. He probably doesn't even know what a core is! Danny had worked hard to keep it hidden all this time, had done his best to stop the GIW and the Fenton's from knowing cores even existed!
Wait... If they find his core, and somehow manage to shatter it while playing with it, will it even be him the one who died!? Was his soulmate gonna die in his body!?
... And he was hyperventilating now.
- Kid! Kid! Deep breaths, common, you can do this, deep breaths.
Danny tried to focus on breathing again, but the idea of his soulmate dying wouldn't leave him. So between shattered breaths he asked:
- W-what... Happens if one.... Of us dies... Whi- while in the other body!?
Even with his sight completely blurry, he was sure all the people at the table had stood up. The man who was helping him breath looked like he needed someone to help him through now.
Non understandable screams overlapped over each other for a minute or so, until someone screamed "Enough!" And silence fell once more over the table. The man recovered quickly, and kneeled in front of him, taking his hands and looking him in the eyes.
- Hey, I need you to breathe. We can solve whatever is giving you that worry, but I need you to calm first. Can you do that for me?
Danny wanted to laugh at the idea that they would be able to do anything. His friends broke in multiple times the first week, and failed every attempt, until the security grew to the point they couldn't come in.
His mo- Madeline bragged about the security finally stopping the brainwashed kids from coming in after the first week without alarms in the middle of a "session".
His friends were people used to breaking into GIW facilities in rescue missions, if they couldn't get him out, then how would these random people do it? It was an ignorant promise. But this man's eyes were full of worry that reminded him of his sister, so even if he knew it was hopeless, he nodded, and tried to calm down.
DpxDC soulmate swap
I keep seeing these soulmate AUs that when the younger one is a certain age the soulmates swap bodies.
Now, what about the vivisection/ bad reveal Danny, who is legally being experimented on by the GIW (NOT Ghost King AU), who wakes up during a family dinner, not realising he's awake at first, only for the family to tell him "Yes, this is a soulmate swap, and yes we ARE your soulmates family." He immediately goes to leave and says he will rescue himself- Que panicked family says that they'll get the heroes, only for Danny to laugh in their faces and go, "What are they going to do? Everything that's happening to me is completely legal. Me murdering my way to my body is not. Anyway, hopefully, my soulmate is screaming and thrashing around enough that they sedate them; I've grown numb to the pain, so they don't usually bother anymore". Danny just casually stealing a car/motorbike and driving away
I can't think of who would be the soulmate. Honestly, all of the cross-ship pairings could work.
One of the bats had the theory that the lack of emotion came from a meta-gene activating during the Joker attack and decided to try the meta collars (All the lab results were inconclusive so who's to say that isn't a probability?), just in case, they needed to try everything.
Danny feels like he's ecto-signal is being blocked by the meta collar and risks letting go of his emotions, just a bit, to test it's limits, but the collar doesn't block much, and is easier to just don't feel at all than trying to control how much he feels. So the bats get to see Danny's face gain some emotion (nervousness? Anxiety? Hope? Fear?) for a fraction of a second before he goes completely emotionless once more.
- Theory one: The meta-collar isn't strong enough somehow, let's try with one more powerful. -> Danny doesn't want to risk it again, so he stays emotionless.
- Theory two: Since Danny doesn't react with stronger meta-blockers, then something about the meta-collar gave Danny an emotion strong enough to come through for a second. Maybe it brought memories of something... something before the Joker attack? Was... Was Danny a victim of meta trafficking? Did they just re-traumatize their new little brother multiple times?
Duke feels especially guilty about this because as a meta, "he should have known better". The bats are not as eager to keep experimenting after that, but Danny continues to be emotionless, so eventually they have to try something else, right?
Danny's found a way to dodge GIW trackers, as well as his parents. Their equipment hunts ghosts, ghosts run on emotion; so as long as he keeps his under a tight lid and doesn't feel anything ever, they won't be able to track him.
It works!
He's able to run from them, and goes as far as New Jersey. The plan was to stow away on a ship, and go to literally any country that wasn't America. He goes to Gotham, which hosts the one harbor he knows where no one will ask any questions.
But because of how weird he acted (completely emotionless during a Joker attack), he was fingered by police immediately.
He's handed over to CPP. CPP doesn't know what to do with a teen literally so traumatized that they don't show any emotion at all, ever. He keeps just...walking out of his placements. Just leaves without a sound.
Luckily, he's always caught, due to those placement houses having quiet alarms and him refusing to run.
They call the one foster parent they know who does.
Bruce Wayne takes in the strange, nameless kid who refuses to talk.
On paper, they gave him the filler name of 'John Doe', for lack of anything better to do.
Bruce does everything he can to make the newest arrival feel at home. Damian, for as territorial as he is, actually breaks out of his shell sooner than expected just to try to get the new kid to speak. To emote. To do something. Duke tries the open approach, then tries the 'no one will ever know, everyone thinks I'm an innocent goody-two-shoes' approach. Nada.
Tim even tries to trick him into talking, but nothing works.
Enter Dick; Dick heard about Bruce's new ward, about the situation, and decided to see if he could get the kid to open up.
Danny though. Danny's in trouble.
The Wayne Manor is weirdly secure, and he can't just walk away like he did his other placements. He can't use ghost powers or the GIW and his parents will immediately know where he is.
He really, really wants to take Bruce up on his offer and just spend the day relaxing. Respond to Damian's attempts to provoke him. Overshare about space facts with Tim.
But most of all, he really, desperately wants to get in a Pun Competition with Dick. He wants to laugh at Dick's jokes, and learn coolass gymnastic tricks!
But he can't!
If he relaxes with Bruce, he'll be content, which is an emotion. If he argues with Damian, he'll get annoyed, which is an emotion. If he sneaks out with Duke and breaks the rules, he'll get happy, which, again, emotion. If he overshares with Tim, he'll get excited, which is, yet again, an emotion!
The worst sin of all, he can't even show proper appreciation of the food the Butler keeps making him!
And now there's even more people coming over!
There's a quiet girl who keeps reading his body language and trying to get him to dance ballet, a blonde girl who keeps trying to kidnap him to take him to BatBurger, a guy with a stripe of white who wants to take him to a shooting range, and it just...he really, really wants to!
He wants to do all these cool things with them!
But he fucking can't!
