You sat on the living room couch, sipping on your sleepy time tea. Unfortunately, you were going through a wave of insomnia this week, barely getting even an hour of sleep each night, hence the reason you were wide awake in the living room at almost three in the morning. 

Sighing, you switched on the TV, making sure to keep the volume really low as to not wake up Jake. However, your attempts failed and you turned to see your sleepy boyfriend shuffling down the hallway, rubbing his eyes. 

When he opened eyes fully, he squinted from the TV’s bright light before seeing you sitting on the couch, chin resting on your one hand, looking back at him, “Y/n,” He started, “Why are you still awake? It’s almost three in the morning.” He questioned, making his way over to you. 

“I’m sorry, did I wake you up?” You frowned, suddenly feeling guilt wash over you for waking up when he had such a busy schedule. 

“Not particularly,” He answered, continuing, “I woke up feeling thirsty, but felt the sheets next to me cold. That woke me up pretty quickly.” He chuckled, taking a seat next to you, “But that doesn’t answer my question. Why are you still awake, watching tv?” 

You shrugged, “I just haven’t been sleeping well this past week. This has to be the 6th or 7th day so I just kind of gave up. Maybe watching TV will put me to sleep.” 

Jake looked at you, lips formed into a very small, but noticeable pout, “Why didn’t you tell me? I could’ve helped in some way possibly.” 

“I didn’t want to bother you since you’re so tired everyday when you come back from work so you need your rest. Plus, it’s not such a big deal anyways. I’m sure one of these days, I’ll sleep like a baby from exhaustion.” You smiled, jokingly, but he shook his head and wrapped his arms around your shoulders. 

“But I’m your boyfriend. Even if I’m exhausted, I still want to help you in any way I can. It’s not fair that you get to take care of me, but won’t let me take care of you.” He whined, resting his head on your shoulder. 

“No, but it’s different-” You tried for an excuse, but was interrupted. 

“Y/n, let me take take care of you. Please?” 

“Okay…” You hesitated, but gave in seeing his sincere eyes, letting him lay you both down on the couch. He pulled your head closer to his chest, stroking your hair with his fingertips and down your back, relaxing you instantly. He quietly sang a small lullaby which surprised you when your eyes started to feel heavy.  

Before you knew it, you were fast asleep, your even breathing and small snores immediately taken to notice by Jake and he couldn’t help but let out a small laugh, “And there she tried to convince herself and me that she didn’t need my help.” He shook his head before placing a soft kiss to your forehead, “Goodnight, love.”

heeseung; he would make sure to free out his entire day so he could spend it with you. he would take you to your favourite places during the day, and plan out a romantic dinner at night. when i say romantic, i mean romantic. flowers, candles, handwritten cards, well-thought out gifts; everything that you could have wished for on your birthday, he has it prepared. he knew exactly how to make your birthday the most special day of your life, and if that wasn’t enough, he would have learnt how to play your favourite song just so he could sing it to you.

jay; he would be the type to pretend that he forgot it was your birthday, while he secretly planned a surprise birthday party for you. He would make sure to have all your favourite food prepared, set up the entire area with balloons, confetti, cakes… everything just so he could throw you the best surprise birthday party ever. “you planned all of this?” you asked, a smile creeping up your face at the idea that he spent so much time and thought on this. your feelings of dismay over how he had ‘forgotten’ your birthday earlier that day slowly melted away. “of course,” jay replied, a smirk playing on his lips, “how could i forget the most special day of the year?”

jake; he is already the sweetest person ever, and when it’s your birthday, he becomes the cutest sweetheart ever. i feel like he is the type to go out of his way and put in a lot of time and care to make you cute little handmade gifts, handwritten letters and even a scrapbook with all your pictures and memories. the surprised and adoring smile that appears on your face when you receive the gifts makes his heart flutter. he even tries his best to make a home-cooked three course meal for you with your favourite dishes, and the two of you would end the day with a cosy movie night.

sunghoon; would try his best to drop subtle questions here and there to figure out what you want for your birthday. he would actually ask you to go shopping with him and if that in itself wasn’t bizarre enough, he would be going to your favourite stalls with you and shoving items in your face, asking you if you think he should buy it. “what do you think of this?” sunghoon asked, spraying the perfume so close to your face that it made you sneeze. “i like this one,” you said with a cough, still recovering from the perfume attack, “but i’d prefer this one for my birthday instead.” “okay- wait, how did you know?”

sunoo; is definitely the type to send you a happy birthday message at twelve on the dot just because he wants to be the first to wish you a happy birthday. it won’t just be a simple ‘happy birthday’, rather it would be an entire pre-typed twelve page essay. once he sees that you had read his message, he would immediately call you so he could also be the first to verbally wish you a happy birthday. he is just super excited and cannot wait until your lunch date later that day to celebrate with you, so instead the two of you talk for hours and hours on the phone.

jungwon; would take you to places and treat you to anything that you want. he would want to take you somewhere fun to spend your day, a theme park, arcade, karaoke… he just wants to spend a super fun and exciting day with you. he would be in a really good mood the entire day and would randomly give you small pecks on your cheeks and hugs from time to time. he would love to watch the sunset with you by the beach, and would keep trying to take pictures of you because you ‘look so beautiful.’

ni-ki; is the type to buy you a bunch of gag gifts or useless items as your birthday present without any purpose except to annoy you. he might even plan out elaborate pranks throughout the day, and if there is a birthday cake, you can be assured that it would end up flat on your face. the two of you now have an ongoing competition on who can play the best prank on the other person during their birthday, and everything always ends up in a chaotic mess with the two of you laughing until your stomachs hurt.

Tough and buff, you observe, as Jungkook discusses his next boxing session with his coach. You're here to pick him up as he so kindly asked you. More like bribed you with cake but hey, you're finally here. The place which made your Jungkook grow huge. You tap your fingers against the steering wheel restlessly and look out the window to see Jungkook bump fists with his coach and see his face light up at the sight of you. He rushes inside the car and jumps into the seat. "where's my cake?" you ask teasingly while you get kisses peppered all over your face. "give me my moment," he grumbles softly as he squishes your face,

"ah, its been too long since I saw you!" you lift an eyebrow, "it's been 3 days." "3 days too long, sweetheart. let's get your cake on the way and maybe some donuts? ooh what about those biscuits you like?" you gaze at him softly, finding no trace of the tough and buff guy from earlier. Yeah, this is the Googie you know well.

"tired, so tired" Jungkook mumbles as he finds solace for his head on your chest and makes your hand rub his back. You rub his back like muscle memory while you munch on the biscuits Jungkook bought you earlier and catch up on your TV show. Jungkook watches your free hand dust off the biscuit dust on your fingers and he catches it, stroking your hand with his thumb.

He remembers your hand patting his back softly, three summers ago, when he had gotten caught in a sudden downpour. He had started college and already messed up his first project. He remembers your warm jacket getting draped over him and your hand holding out a bubble tea. "I know it's not the drink for the weather but I hope this cheers you up." With tearful yet grateful doe eyes looking back at you, little did you know, you had done more than cheering him up.

You both met through your brother, Min Yoongi, who had sworn he had never seen anyone as introverted as his sister until he met Jeon Jungkook. You were curious to see the boy who made your usually unimpressed brother rave about him. Jungkook was inquisitive as well, wanting to know the person Yoongi praised with pride. You both had hit it off quite well, having similar interests and intriguing conversations. You were indeed surprised to find out the man who put up a tough front was actually a innocent, wide-eyed boy, who looked at the world with rose tinted glasses and a hopeless romantic. Jungkook was equally surprised to find the usual passive and demure you, a ferocious and snapping young girl who loved jumping at her brother's nerves.

Jungkook remembers smiling fondly at you showing off your little scars from baking when you were working in a bakery, wearing them like badges of honor. Jungkook remembers the first time you both fought, he was in near tears and you were shutting him out. It was something immature but he'll never forget the words you said, "no matter where I go or who I go to, I'll always come back to you. 'cause you're home, koo." Jungkook holds you tighter at that thought. He loves the way you love him. It's soft and tender, just right for his fragile and fractured self. He loves you and your little quirks, your morning bed head and your delectable food from your little kitchen. He thinks, no he knows, he's found the most perfect form of love he could ever find.

You're about to move to the next episode of The Crown, when you feel Jungkook hold you tightly. You glance at him just to see him lost in his thoughts, gazing at your hand. "earth to googie, I repeat, earth to googie," you say in a robotic voice as you boop his nose continuously.

Jungkook shakes your hand off and smiles, "I'm back, I was just thinking."

"oh no. what now?! please don't say bungee jumping, please don't say that," you whine dramatically as you recall the time Jungkook bungee-jumped in a rather unconventional way.

"no, you drama queen," he sits up and holds your waist, "thinking 'bout us" he says shyly as he buries his face in your neck and leaves a tiny peck there.

You giggle at the sensation and pull him closer, "and what were you thinking, oh my sweet love" you say, teasingly but meaning the cheesy words.

Jungkook lets out a laugh at that, "thinking about how soft and nice and sweet you are to me." You stroke his hair, trying to pull him impossibly closer, even though you both are technically one now. "that's because you're my home. my safe haven and my provider for great entertainment and food!" Jungkook sighs and laughs at your dramatic statement. Yeah, that's the y/nie he knows.
