My Speculations On Death Eaters
My Speculations on Death Eaters
I feel like people kind of forget how old Voldemort is. At the time that he died he was 81, he attended school a good 70 years beforehand. Most of the parents of current students are in their 30s to 50s and their grandparents were in their 60s to 80s.
The Death Eaters began when Voldemort was in school.
Therefore, it is likely that the Death Eaters of Marauder’s Era were 2nd generation Death Eaters that grew up much like Draco did, although with a living Dark Lord. So all the arguments of Draco Malfoy being “the boy who didn’t have a choice”, could also be applied to Lucius Malfoy and possibly other Death Eaters.
In fact, it’s likely that most pure-bloods in Marauders Era were heavily brain-washed into believing pureblood propaganda and given the Dark Mark before they were even out of school or just barely. And once you are in the Death Eaters there is really no way out except death.
I feel like it’s possible that once the Dark Lord had been dead for a while some of the Death Eaters may have come to the conclusion that life was more peaceful without a homicidal maniac or the brain-washing had time to wear off and they began to realize exactly what they’d done because when Voldemort returned it was even pointed out that none of the Death Eaters had attempted to bring him back.
IMO, some of the Death Eaters probably didn’t want the Dark Lord back and only continued to be on his side out of fear and self-preservation.

Snape spent his teenage years writing angsty poetry.
You cannot convince me otherwise.
First time editing anything. It took 9 hours to make this.
People wonder why most of the adults in the wizarding world are super irresponsible and emotionally unstable.
I'm thinking it's likely because the 3 generations before Harry Potter are pretty much war veterans and hella traumatized.
The wizarding world isn't known for being very modern and this was before therapy was really a thing in the muggle world.
With both Grindelwald and Voldemort having happened in one century, I think you would struggle to find a mentally healthy wizard or witch.
OMG!!! I just realized Snape was also injured in this scene! Like, just got bit by a massive dog kind of injured.
So either the sheer amount of adrenaline in his body numbed the pain enough for him to run across the castle and down 2 flights of stairs or he was in incredible pain and pushed through it to make sure everyone was okay... and still managed to be the second person in the room to help despite the fact that the other teachers had far more time to track down the troll and were uninjured.
I feel like nobody appreciates this. But I do! Snape is my grumpy hero.
I rewatch Harry Potter just for Alan Rickman's scenes.
Without a lot of the everyday snarky Snape i can clearly see his protectiveness over Harry.
One of my favourites is the Troll scene from The Philosopher's Stone. Snape comes running in like a madman, out of breath and annoyed to find he got all worried over nothing... Like a dad who's real tired of his kids doing stupid dangerous crap. He just angry cuz you made him scared.
Reblog this is you’re still in the snapedom
My dash is utterly devoid of snep 💔
