- Levi may seem like he dislikes your kind heart, but oh boy, he truly does love it deep down.

(Never acted upon them) then time skip to the uprising arc with Kenny's squad and while Levi thought they were dead he sees the reader with Kenny's squad. Some angst but some fluff too please? It was unbelievable, like a crazy lucid dream. He—Levi was supposed to be dead.

That’s what they said. Or at least that’s what the rumors were.

But here...he was, in front of your own eyes. Same blue eyes, same serious and nonchalant face, the same man you loved. In front of you.

“Levi?” You gasped softly as you took a couple of steps away from him.

Said man blinked and lost the scowl he contained on his face moments prior. A sense of confusion, complete and utter surprise now slowly expressed in his blue eyes and face. His eyebrows furrowed deeper as he took a few steps back too. He parted his lips, but at first nothing came out, all he did was inhale ever so slightly as he let his eyes just roam your face.

Levi couldn’t find himself to react until a few minutes later when a shot in the distance broke him from his stupor. He finally quietly exhaled, letting his chest drop so he could breathe normally again before he finally spoke. “Y/N. You’re alive,” he narrows his gaze and steps forward. “They said you were dead.”

You shake your head and still feel completely stunned by his presence, by the blow your entire being was hit with. “I almost did,” you reveal as you slowly drop your gun and continue to look into his eyes.

You want to ask for your other friends, ones that lived with him before, but before you could ask again, the shots that came from your squad, and his military squad sounded closer, breaking you from the stupor that hung above your heads. “I should go.”

You move to return to your squad, but hesitate to actually leave as you shoot your grapple into a nearby wall. Instead you look back at Levi once, noticing that he had looked back at you too. Albeit neither of you say anything. You just look at one another and share a lingering gaze before you both return to your own squads.

*A FEW YEARS BACK*

You rap your knuckles on the wooden door and step back to wait for the door to open, tapping your fingers repeatedly on the side of your thigh and tapping your foot on the ground as you wait. You try to peek through the window to see if anyone was home, but the curtains were in the way. So you had to wait until you heard footsteps echo inside, stopping before the door and just opening it slightly to reveal a single green eye before a familiar voice spoke.

“Password?”

You put your hands on your hips and sigh, “eat my ass.”

“No, try again.” She scoffs.

You lean forward and whisper to Isabel. “How about, if you don’t open this door I’ll kick it down?”

Isabel steps back and finally opens the door, showing off a goofy smile as she steps aside. “Wow how did you guess it?”

You shrug nonchalantly as you step inside, “I’m just that impressive.” You finally shoot her smile and walk fully inside the apartment with her at your side after she closes the front door.

Since the house isn’t that big, you quickly see Furlan and Levi sat at their own spots in the house; and the first person your eyes land on are Levi. He was quick to meet your eyes too, sharing a lingering gaze with you before you addressed the three of them. “I got the money.”

Furlan stands from his spot on the couch and walks over to the table where you throw the small satchel bag on its surface.

“What did it cost?” Furlan questions as he opens the satchel and pulls some money out.

You sigh and take a seat on a chair, from the corner of your eye, seeing Levi place a cup of tea before you as he sits down close to you. “Not my cover, if that's what you’re asking.” You pick up the teacup in front of you and take a sip as you look down at the wood of the table and nervously tap on the surface as Furlan counts the money you brought. You didn’t think anyone would notice your behavior, but you should’ve known better.

“What’s wrong?” Levi questions beside you, making you take another long sip of your drink before you slowly turn to look at him.

“Well,” you breathe out softly, “you know how I was supposed to leave the military police? Well,” you swallow thickly and avoid his narrowed gaze, and everyone else’s curious stares. “I’ve been assigned to another mission. It’ll pay more, and I’ll only be gone for a few weeks.”

“How much is a few weeks?” Isabel leans in, her question making you meet her green eyes and then Furlans gaze, before lastly flickering your eyes to Levi’s own gaze and answering hesitantly.

“A month.”

“A month?” Levi remarks with his eyebrows narrowing deeper and his gaze turning much more frightening as anger begins to fill them. “You said you’d be done with this last mission. You almost died on the previous one.” He leans forward as he grew more frustrated. “Do you really want to risk your life for something so insignificant?”

You squint your eyes on him and part your lips to argue, but all you manage is a scoff as you shake your head in discontent. Nonetheless before you could retort, Furlan and Isabel awkwardly stand up from their seats and excuse themselves to quickly leave the house, leaving the both of you alone in a silence that took over for a long while.

You couldn’t find the right words to say, an explanation to make such a stubborn man understand. You could try, that’s all you could do, all you did even if it was pointless at times.

But there were those times where he did listen. This could be one of them. He just needed to understand. Without you getting angry as well.

“Look,” you continue as you turn to face him better. “It’s the last mission, I promise. I’m just doing this to get the money we need to finally live above ground. I just want us to have a life where we don’t need to worry about when our next meal will be, or if a sickness will take one of us out.” You feel your gaze soften and your fingers twitch to reach forward and grab his hand. But you wait first instead. “I just want us to live a calm life where we can see the sky.” You smile softly and now, slowly reach for his hand, causing his eyes to leave the table to meet yours.

Levi doesn’t say anything at first, his eyes search your face and you see them lose their anger and soften as well, showing that gleam in his blue eyes that you admired. He tightens his own hold around your hand before he sighs and remains quiet to let you speak up again. “Just trust me okay, Levi? I promise I’m coming back, but I can’t leave without you trusting that.”

There's another long silence where he just looks at you, where he hesitates to answer even if he trusted you more than anyone. He so badly wants you to stay behind, to stop risking your life, but he knew he couldn’t hold you back. He couldn’t allow himself to do that to you.

“Fine,” he finally says, “I trust you, but you better not die.”

The smile you have on your face widens, and your hold around his hand tightens whilst you add one last thing. “I won’t, promise.”

It had been a couple of days since the last time you saw Levi again after years of thinking he had died, since you’ve seen your own squad and since you just left without a word. You had heard the rumors from the other military officers, and there you were, in the location where it was said they were.

But as you arrive there's nothing left, but destruction and death after that monsters wake that the Survey corps had now killed. You come to conclude that the death part was mostly from the squad you were once a part of, it causes you to think that you had no one now. But there was a sliver of hope as you once again saw Levi in the field that was destroyed. He appeared to be leaving, whilst you were barely riding in.

However, as he saw you, and you saw him, you both stopped a few feet across one another. You share a lingering gaze before he rips his eyes away from you and looks at the ground beneath his feet. “Kenny is dead. If that’s who you’re looking for.”

Your eyes widen and you gasp softly at the sound of the news, albeit the grief you felt was because of what you could imagine Levi was feeling, even if Kenny did leave him so long ago. “Levi, I’m sorry, I—”

“It doesn’t matter,” he interjects bluntly, flickering his eyes back to you and showing you a hardened gaze instead of the grief-stricken one that had his eyes filled with unshed tears. “What matters is how you’re alive? I looked for you, they said you died.”

You blink repeatedly and have the temptation to ignore his question and try to assure him after his loss, but you knew you’d go nowhere. Instead you fist your hands and glance at the grass below you. “I,” you begin, “again, almost died, it was bad.” Your eyes lift to meet his and you frown. “I was out for a few days which is why they would say that, but I lived thanks to Kenny. He saved me.” You unfurl your fists and take a step closer to him. “I asked for you too, for Furlan and Isabel. I went back home when I got better, but you were all gone. They told me you all had died here above ground because of the Scouts.” You roam his body and sigh. “It’s good that it wasn’t true—what about Furlan and Isabel, huh? They with you?”

Levi’s gaze drops once again and this time you notice that his shoulders were dropped again, he shook his head and that simple action made you lose your hopeful smile before he confirmed what he was giving away. “They didn’t make it.”

Your breath hitches and you freeze where you stood, tears sting your eyes and this time you feel as if your heart shatters all over again.

When you saw Levi again, you hoped, you guessed that they were at his side. But you were wrong and now you were reliving through that heartbreak you felt when they told the first time.

“Where were you?” Levi abruptly asks, breaking you from your train of thought. “When Kenny and his people were fighting us last night?”

“I couldn’t,” you answer softly, “I couldn’t pick a side. Kenny saved me, so I couldn’t betray him. But when I found out you were alive and were with the Scouts, I couldn’t fight you either. Seeing you changed everything, so I decided to not pick a side.” You look at him and step forward again, being closer than ever before and noticing that he hadn’t moved and his eyes were still intent on you. He actually surprised you with his next comment.

“It’s a good thing you didn’t choose then. It would’ve been a shame having to fight on opposite sides.”

You laugh softly and nod in agreement. “Yeah. It would’ve been a shame.”

“So what now?” He continues, “what are you going to do now?”

You shrug and feel your lips slowly drop to a frown. “I don’t know. With my squad gone and turning against the military police I have nowhere to go.”

“You could come…” he pauses and has you looking at him. “With your skills,” he says, “you could join the scouts. I’m sure I could put a good word in for you to Erwin.” His gaze softens and he steps towards you. “If that’s what you want.”

“Even after I rebelled against the government?” You quiere. “Are you sure that they won’t kill me instead?”

“Not if I have anything to say about it.” Levi assures you, making the corner of your lips twitch. “Besides you promised you wouldn't die.”

“I did,” you mutter, sharing a longing gaze before you can’t beat the temptation to throw your arms around him for a tight and longing embrace.

The gesture took him by surprise, so he stood frozen for a few minutes. Just as you were going to part away he slowly returned the embrace and secured you in his arms, pushing you closer to him as he gently slid his hand to the back of your head.

Tears filled your eyes, but you didn’t let them roll down, you kept your smile and only hugged him tighter as you answered his question. “I would love nothing more than to...once again be on your side.”

Levi didn’t say anything in return, but you understood he was content with your answer by the way he let out a soft relieved sigh and tightened his embrace around you.

Actually neither of you said anything else after your answer, you both stayed in each other’s embrace as you both found solace in the fact that you were both alive and reunited.

Erwin, Levi, and Hanji Breaking Up With Their S/O

It was late at night and a content smile was on your face as you happily walked to your partner's office. They were busy doing work all day so you wanted to accompany them in order for them to not feel lonely. You opened the door to see them and when they looked up at you their expression felt grimacing. You couldn't tell what was going through their mind so you asked them. "What's wrong?" The words said next were something you never would have expected. It came out like rotten poison. "(Y/n), we should break up."

Erwin:

Erwin's expression remained calm and serious as the words spit out of his mouth. There was no sign of any guilt leaving his face. "W-what? Break up? Why?" You said as you felt your whole body tremble. The blonde commander put both of his hands linked together as he backed his body to the desk chair. "We're not fit to be together in a relationship. I'm a commander running a whole army and I can't have a relationship distract me from my goals." You couldn't even comprehend what he was saying when you felt more words come out of your mouth. "But Erwin, we can still make this work. I know how busy you are and I understand you run a whole army but that doesn't mean you should be deprived of any happiness." The man extended his hand out to grab his pen to work on some documents. Contending what he was going to say next. "I'm sorry, (Y/n). But this relationship was only a distraction. I have more important things in life I should be focused on." You couldn't continue to argue back when you started shaking from the held in tears. Was this relationship never that valuable to him? "I-I understand. Goodbye Erwin." You walked out of the room with two left feet and lightly closed the door trembling with emotion. The only thing on Erwin's mind when he broke up with you was the fact that he was a stubborn man. If he had to get rid of the the only thing in his life that made him happy to reach his dream, then so be it.

Levi:

"What did you say?" Not believing anything Levi was saying. Levi signed in frustration before saying sarcastically, "I said, let's break up (Y/n). Can't hear?" You couldn't see any reason why he would have wanted to break up. Sure, you almost got yourself killed last expedition because you were reckless. Levi was furious with you after the mission and gave you the biggest scolding. But that didn't necessarily mean he never cared about you. He was just worried. "Levi, no. You're wrong about this. Remember all those times we would drink tea and talk about the future together? Getting married and maybe having children? There's no way that wasn't real for you to just throw it away." You rambled as you talked faster by the minute. Nothing has changed from Levi's stoic facial expression, nothing at all. "I think you need to wake up, (Y/n). This relationship was a childish fantasy of yours. This isn't a fairytale where we can be happy. So wake the hell up and live in the real world." Whatever words came from Levi's mouth felt deadly to you. It was killing you in the inside and you couldn't do anything about it. "Fine. If you want to break up then so be it. I'll go grab my stuff from your room." You walked inside his quarters to grab the belongings you kept inside. Levi continued the night on the outside looking content like nothing was wrong. But the truth was, you made him happier than anyone else ever could. He didn't want to stay attached just so you can leave his life like everyone else did. He did what he had to.

Hanji:

Hanji managed to keep the grimaced look they had, even though they struggled to say the words that came out of their mouth. But it was necessary and had to be done. The face you made spoke for itself as your heart shattered into broken pieces. "Hanji, no... we can't." Hanji looked at you with a serious expression before taking a deep breathe. "I'm busy with my job as the scientist and researcher of the survey corps so I never even have time for you (Y/n). This won't work." You shook your head in disbelief as you looked down to the necklace Hanji gave you. "Remember this Hanji? You gave it to me after one of the expeditions to remind me that I'll always be in your heart. There's no way you mean that. Right Hanji?" Hanji's vision went down to the floor as they comprehended their next choice of words. "(Y/n), I just can't keep doing this. You shouldn't be with someone whose never even going to have the time for you." Your disbelief got the better of you and so did your stubbornness. You started raising your voice. "But Hanji! I don't care if you don't have a lot of time for me! Your love was always enough! Can't you see we don't need to break up?!" What you didn't expect was for Hanji to yell back, with the harshest words ever given. "When will you stop acting so selfish (Y/n)?! I'm busy with my job to try to protect humanity and you're only busy thinking about some fantasy of yours! Grow up!" Your eyes widened at the choice of words and you clenched the chain on your neck as you ripped it off. "Here's the necklace then. Guess I don't need this anymore." You threw it at them and ran away with a built frustration and sadness. Nothing between you and Hanji was ever going to be the same again. Hanji regretted everything they said and wished they could turn back time. But it was too late. The choice was already made.

Coming Out to the Aot Vets

Erwin:

Erwin came to visit you at your home since you both planned to study together for your final exams coming up. You and Erwin have been close ever since you were young children since he was your next door neighbor. You bonded with similar interests such as reading novels and wanting to learn more about the world. Your mother noticed how inseparable the two of you were and immediately assumed your friendship would blossom into something more. But oh how wrong she was. You only looked at women in that way and no one else knew except yourself. You had a feeling Erwin was getting suspicious about you and that you were hiding something. He saw your small discomfort every time your mom asked if the two of you were dating almost constantly. Seeing your form hunched over while looking at papers, he decided to ask you what's been wrong. "(Y/n), has something been bothering you lately? You seem out of your head." You looked up from the flashcards to see Erwin giving you a soft yet concerned look. It was true that something was bothering you, but not like what he probably thought. "It's nothing Erwin. Everything's okay." He obviously wasn't buying it since he knew how your eye twitched a little when you lied about something. Erwin walked over to sit next to you by the bed placing a hand on your shoulder. "I'm your best friend (Y/n). Whatever is bothering you I want to help in any way I can. No judgement." You let out a sigh due to your constant nerves but you chose to come clean to the person closest to you. "Okay, so.... I know we've been best friends for so long but there's something I haven't told you about myself." Noticing the comforting hand on your shoulder you spit out the two simple words. "I'm gay." Erwin blinked for at least a second before saying, "That's all (Y/n)?" You nodded your head but not much long after Erwin leaned in for a hug. "You don't have to worry (Y/n). You being gay doesn't mean any different. You're still the same person and that's all that matters." You hugged Erwin back as you felt nothing but pure gratitude for the best friend you had.

Levi:

Levi and you were pretty much stuck together like glue ever since you were toddlers. Both of your mothers were close friends which meant the two of you saw each other often. At first you felt pretty awkward around Levi since he always seemed so intimidating and kept to himself a lot. But as time went on, he got used to your presence and you both started talking more. You never found someone you can talk to and open up about your problems with more. But not everything you were able to be open about. The hidden secret about your sexuality had been hidden for a while and you haven't bothered to come out to Levi worrying he'd see you different. You liked to think you hid it pretty well, but it didn't help that you had a bit of a crush on one of Levi's other friends named Petra. Levi read you easily and if he figured out you were gay you don't know how you'd react. The day he found out came sooner than you thought since Petra agreed to hang out with you and Levi at the mall. He noticed how nervous you were around her and the heat on your face was visible. When Petra left and two of you were alone, Levi asked you a question. "(Y/n), do you like Petra?" Your eyes widened in shock and you started stumbling over your words. "W-what? What makes you think that?" He shrugged at you as he said, "It's pretty obvious the way you act around her." Your gaze went to the floor and Levi noticed in your body language how upset you seemed. "(Y/n). If you think me finding out you liked women would change my opinion about you, you're wrong. You love who you love, that's your choice." Your eyes watered a bit hearing Levi say those words to you. He was always so considerate and understanding of you. "Yeah, you're right Levi. I'm proud of who I am." Levi's eyes softened at you before he turned away and said, "Let's go to that ice cream parlor and I'll get you that banana split you like." You let out an appreciate smile before saying, "Sounds great."

Hanji:

Hanji knew you like the back of their hand but what they didn't know about was who you were into. Hanji frequently invited you to go to frat parties with them and always was encouraging you to find a guy to talk to. The problem was is that you weren't interested in any of the guys. You weren't even attracted to guys at all. Hanji would attempt to set you up with some guys they knew but you always shut them down no matter what. You were surprised they didn't see right through you but Hanji always just assumed you were super picky with the guys you liked. So they kept trying. "Come on (Y/n)! I know he seems super grumpy but you'll like him I promise!" You were scrolling through your social media account not wanting to participate in another conversation like this again. "I don't think so, Hanji. I'm just not interested." Hanji frowned a bit but tried to keep being encouraging. "(Y/n) you turn down every guy I try to set you up with. At least try to give this guy a chance." Your moping wasn't really helping the situation whatsoever and you were starting to get tired of all these repeated conversations with Hanji about your love life. "Hanji, can you just lay low with this? I don't want to talk about these kind of things anymore." When you snapped back at them Hanji didn't know what to think. What was the problem? Were you just not interested in dating? They put their finger on their chin in thought but then they realized how genuinely uninterested you were in guys. You never seemed attracted to them and never participated in conversations about guys the other girls were attracted to. "(Y/n). Are you gay?" You froze. Hanji stared at you with a curious expression as the nerves crept up to your brain. They figured you out. "Yes Hanji. I'm gay. I just didn't know how to tell you."
