YOU DON'T KNOW IF YOU SCREAMED FOR LONG, but one thing you did register is Jungwon's fingers curling around your arm, pulling you back.

Your eyes was fixtated over the bloodied skin, his open eyes staring at the night sky.

"Shit, come on, Yn, stand up!" Jungwon said, his voice trembling and you found the strength in your legs.

Your thoughts were just tangled and intertwined, you couldn't hear a single coherent thought.

"Yn!"

You stood, the sheer shock freezing your nerves as you clung onto Jungwon, and you find yourself and him backing away.

What the fvck just happened? The red lights from his car didn't help. It only added to the darkness surround you and him.

You could almost hear your own heartbeat, staring at the body bag...

"Get in the car." You pulled on his arm. Jungwon nodded wordlessly and he gave you a little push as well.

You barely registered how badly your legs were melting as you pulled the car door open, entering the warmth of the vehicle, but everything felt so cold inside your muscles.

With a slam of his door, Jungwon shakily clutched his phone.

"Um, what happened? We heard you scream?" Yunjin asked, oblivious of what your mind was just tainted with. And you didn't speak for a second.

"Yn, Jungwon?"

Jay gazed at you and him, watching how Jungwon fumbled with his phone, typing in the 3 numbers and latching the phone to his ear. Instinctively, he locked the car doors, realising how they were utterly drowned in darkness, the dark road isolated, crops and plants on either side.

You rubbed your eyes, swiping a hand through your hair and you felt the flashes of the body shock you.

"What the fvck is going on?" Yunjin said again, leaning off her backseat.

"It's... there's a body..."

Yunjin stilled, words and thoughts freezing for a good moment. It wasn't quite processed in anyone's brain. It didn't sound real.

"You're kidding-."

"I'm sorry, did you say body- as in, a dead body?" Jay spoke up but he was in disbelief.

And Jungwon started speaking into the phone, eyes flickering here and there, feeling a little sick. He could almost smell the lingering stench of blood.

"Hello, I need to report something..."

Whilst Jungwon discussed with the police, you couldn't help but feel the looming darkness. The eerie night hung over the car more heavily. You couldn't find your words that were buried deep in your chest.

There was something peculiar about the man. The little stubble on his chin, the wrinkles dented underneath the eyes, the blue fabric over his once-alive body.

The realisation dawned upon you, and your breath came out shaky as you heard Yunjin speak again, trying to ask if you're okay, her hand shaking your shoulder a little.

"I recognise him," You said quietly, staring ahead in the darkness. Yunjin and Jay became quiet, bewildered.

"What do you mean?" Jay murmured.

For a few seconds, you heard Jungwon speak frantically about what he saw into the phone, and then you turned to the two in the back, anxious knots tightening your chest.

"The man... the d-dead body... its the school Janitor."

After a few minutes of waiting on the line and staying frozen in the car, your heartbeat calmed a little. It was still racing, but your nerves weren't going insanely crazy, and your fingers tangled over each other.

Yunjin and Jay kept silent, their head occasionally turning towards the back windshield, seeing the blurred outline of the body bag within the red lights.

And Jungwon's eyes darted around, his fingers picking at his sleeve, his phone heating his ear, but he couldn't even register the increasing warmth over his igniting thoughts.

You couldn't help but try and make yourself feel better, words coming out before you registered them.

"Since he's dead, do you think Jungwon will get arrested?"

Everyone turned to you in silence. Jungwon furrowed his eyebrows, disbelief sweeping across his gaze.

"What the fvck?"

"Sorry."

Their phones light up simultaneously, reminding them that they were somewhat connected to reality outside of the traumatic event you and Jungwon witnessed.

Though it was just Heeseung asking about desserts and Jay scowled, muttering a "he just doesn't give up".

Where you did find Heeseung to be comforting in... strange ways, you found it more comforting when flashing blue and red lights caught your gaze from the mirrors of the car.

The sirens peirced the silence of the isolated road, 2 vehicles pulling up in front of Jungwon's car, securing the area. Everyone practically deflated, you and Jungwon especially.

A few officers exited, talking into their radios as they sauntered to the windows, knocking thrice. Jungwon instantly put the windows down, heart racing.

They started off introducing themselves, one officer at your side and another at Jungwon's. They asked for names first before everyone had to get out the car despite the creeping anxiety.

Hugging yourself, you stood next to Jungwon and Yunjin, the air growing chilly. Maybe it was only colder because you refused to move a muscle.

More police officers gathered around the body, their radios buzzing as messages were transacted. You're glad Yunjin and Jay didn't need to witness that.

You were snapped back to reality when a kind voice spoke to everyone. You glanced to see a young man, black hair and full lips. You saw his sympathetic smile and he held a little, black notepad.

"Hi, I'm officer Sim Jaeyun, I'm going to take in statements," He introduced himself. Though, Jay perked up, glancing at Jaeyun with a spark in his eye.

"Bro?" Jay uttered, stepping forward. The officer glanced, a similiar spark in his eyes.

"Braur?" Jaeyun said back, and everyone witnessed them approaching each other, dabbing one another. It was honestly the most weirdest thing to be fair.

Jay smiled a little before turning to you and the other two, sensing the confusion.

"Ah right, Jaeyun- I mean, Jake, used to be my study partner. We took different courses but they aligned pretty well."

Oh right- Jay took forensics before dropping out that path before he got hit with the difficulty.

It was a nice little reunion, but no one said anything, frankly too apprehensive.

"And they're my friends. We were about to get dessert, but y'know, those plans are ruined..."

Jake shook his head softly, smiling at everyone. He held his notepad, sighing.

"I didn't think my reunion with you would be at a crime scene." Jake breathed, looking at Jay and the others with concern.

An awkward laugh escaped Jay's lips and he scratched his nape.

"Yeah, it's not ideal..."

You stared blankly at the ground, mind slowly crumbling. You shuddered and Jay noticed, worry twinkling in his eye.

Jake spoke again. "I transferred a few weeks ago. So, to be fair, this is my first case right now."

Everyone kind of listened, the chill of the wind grazing everyone's skin, hair messing up slightly. Jake decided to set everything down to business as he cleared his throat, and flipped his notepad.

"I'll take statements. Who found the body first? I'll probably take their statement first."

You and Jungwon perked up. You don't know what it was, but the actual idea of seeing a dead body, a person that smiled at you this morning kind of haunted you. And for Jungwon, he didn't imagine his night turning out like this, the police making it so much more real for him.

"Me and Yn... found it," Jungwon chimed quietly, calmly. And Jake nodded, gesturing for you and him to walk closer.

Following his orders, the two separated from the other two, and feeling as if the air escaped their lungs. Even if it was windy and there was plenty to be shared.

Keeping his professional stance, Jake clicked his pen and looked at Jungwon.

"I guess you were the one driving?"

Jungwon nodded, eyes flickering as if his thoughts were drawn to some other place in his head. "Yeah..."

"And, where were you going?" Jake inquired, writing down briefly with a brisk scribble.

Now that you thought about it, you felt bad for prompting this whole trip the dessert shop- you only planted yourself in trouble and now, you were stuck with a memory you and him never wanted.

"A dessert shop. We were going to the new one that opened up.." Jungwon uttered, gaze shifting again, arms playing with his long sleeves.

Jake just nodded and he continued with the generic questions of did you see anything suspicious and all of that. But you stayed silent, reality becoming a fuzz to you. You didn't even hear Jungwon calling your name.

"Yn?" Jungwon said sternly, nudging your side and you flinched, eyes snapping back to Jake.

"Oh.. sorry," You murmured, finding yourself inhaling deeply, the anxiety fogging up your lungs.

Jake nodded and just turned to you.

"Same thing, I presume?"

You honestly didn't hear Jungwon speaking.

"I... yeah. The dessert shop... and then we ran over something hard... and the body..." you trailed off, remembering the Janitor's gentle look before you left the campus.

It just didn't seem real. You must be imagining things...

"Yn? Are you okay?" Jake asked, inching closer to you and causing you to nod aimlessly.

"I recognise him..."

Jungwon gave you the same curious look as Jake began to listen closer.

"Really?"

"The Janitor at school. He.. I'm pretty sure it's him..."

"And what school do you guys go to?"

"Youreun University," You replied automatically. It just terrified you that someone you met this morning had completely been robbed off their life.

With your growing apprehension, Jake nodded and wrote down the scribble. "Thank you. Do you need some water or anything? You look a little... dazed."

Jungwon and Jake saw you shake your head, giving a grateful smile, but your eyes were glued back to the body bag surrounded by officers.

And suddenly, your urge to apologise to Jungwon kind of grew.

"You won't arrest us, right?" You said, and Jake had to restrain a smile.

"No, no, of course not. There's not really evidence you guys did anything. Besides, you guys have given me some alibis. We'll just check that and you will probably be free to go." Jake ruffled his hair in the wind, brown locks flying around.

Jungwon deflated at the news and you nodded, wanting to reach home. The sweet desire of dessert was completely dry in your head, and to be fair, you did need some water. And your bed.

"How do you recognise him? Are you related or...?"

"No, I just happened to bump into him t-this morning," You replied, rubbing your own arm, suddenly feeling the chill of the night.

Jake nodded and sighed, asking a few more questions before he relaxed on the statement-taking.

Jungwon's eyes trailed back to the body, being able to see the faint dry blood on the man's neck, and his eyes were forced closed. He shuddered.

After taking a short statement from Yunjin and Jay, they all stood on one side of the road with Jake giving a reassuring smile to everyone.

"So, are you here for good?" Jay asked Jake, arms crossed. Jake nodded.

"Yeah, if I impress my boss," Jake muttered, suddenly having his face morph into somewhat distress at the mention of his superior. Everyone stared.

"You looked like you saw a ghost- is your boss bad or something?" Jay uttered, joking but when Jake stared back with the same startled expression, everyone kind of basked in the silence.

Sheepishly scratching his head, Jake gathered his words.

"It's not that he's bad... he's just a bit... how do I say it-?"

Before Jake could continue, a voice broke him out of his speech and a man approached them, tall with shoulders back, black hair, almost into a mullet with a blue jacket over his attire.

"Jake, I've been looking for you."

He winced and turned back to Jay with a whisper.

"Melodramatic," Jake finished his sentence and everyone heard it, a small smile tugging at the lips.

His boss sauntered over, a mask over his face, which he pulled down to fully examine everyone, obviously a little tedious at the sight. It wasn't everyday that you saw 4 university students and a dead body.

"Did they find the body, officer Sim?"

He was quick to answer, nodding. "Yes, sir. And I took the stat-."

"The statements? Good. You're kind of getting used to this."

Jay had to hold back a smirk as he gave a discrete side-eye to Jake. The officer simply smiled, though it was so little.

"And, do their alibis match? Do you think they're suspects?" His boss asked once more, looking at his phone momentarily. Jake shook his head, keeping up his polite stature.

"No, sir. I think they're all good to go. Of course, if you think so," Jake uttered, hands behind his back. Then, the man finally looked at you and the others, scanning each one before nodding, acknowledging.

"Nice to meet you despite such unfortunate events. I'm DCI Kim Seokjin, I'm leading this investigation," he introduced himself, bringing out these small business cards to hand to you and the others.

Hesitantly taking it, everyone just looked in silence, bowing slightly out of courtesy.

"Well, if officer Jake thinks you are free to go, I'll trust his word. And don't worry, we'll solve this quickly- don't dwell on it."

But that thought, for you and Jungwon, seemed to be much further than you could reach within an arm's length. The shudder that ran through your spine was noticeable and you hugged yourself tightly, the wind brushing your skin.

Seokjin nodded and gave a curt smile, thinking he was done here. "Please go home. I'm pretty sure university students don't want to be out this late after what you guys have seen."

The ride back home was silent to say the least. You couldn't even hear yourself breathe over the engine and the sound of the wheels rolling along. You sighed, rubbing your eyes briefly.

Yunjin couldn't dare to ask and interrupt your silent trance, wanting to ask much more. But she knew better and left you alone.

And Jay ignored how his phone kept vibrating with Heeseung exploding with tweets on twitter. Silently scowling, he turned his phone to silent before looking at Jungwon, who stiffly drove, lips tightly shut.

The apology was right at your lips, but you didn't really say anything, feeling sick. The smell lingered in your nose, forcing your stomach to shift.

"You okay?" Jay asked, breaking the brittle silence.

With a small sigh, you nodded with your head planted somewhere else. "Yeah.."

Jungwon couldn't say anything, eyes flickering around as if he was searching for something. Though, no one questioned it.

So when Jungwon dropped you and Yunjin home, he didn't say anything, eyes focused on his steering wheel. Jay slipped into the front seat, giving a concerned glance to his friend.

"You haven't said a word since we got in the car. You okay?" Jay asked, buckling the seatbelt. Jungwon responded with a sigh, nodding as he glanced around the street cautiously.

"I'm fine. I just need sleep to be honest," Jungwon murmured, which was partially true. After all that his mind was completely dragged through the mud, and he wanted to just get home and forget about it.

Jay understood and nodded, facing the front.

He didn't realise the way Jungwon shuddered when he started the car again, trying to get rid of the goosebumps flaring across his arms and neck.

It wasn't a long drive to Jay's dorm, and Jungwon couldn't even muster a wave before driving off, feeling the roads get lonelier.

He was just pondering, his gaze flickering back and forth. It just didn't seem real that he saw death again. The lifeless eyes.

He breathed shakily, gulping hard as he returned home, the goosebumps engraved in his skin.

He wanted to forget the look, the mere display of death and the paranoia that was starting to become more prominent the more he walked up to his front door and entered his home.

In the proximity of his house, he finally relaxed, absolutely withered and shaken with apprehension. To be fair, he didn't even think about brushing his teeth before he dropped to his bed and finally went on his phone.

He simply ignored the email regarding his film project and tapped onto twitter.

How you even made it to university the next day was a mystery. You and Yunjin sauntered through the halls, and you were tired.

Your eyes had slight bags under them, and you were still cautiously darting your eyes around the school halls. It seemed normal. Like the news hadn't slipped into the crowd.

And you were daydreaming so much, you didn't realise you bumped into Sunoo, who was leaning on the wall, playing a game on his phone and he made a little "oof" sound.

Yunjin tugged you back by the sleeve and glanced to your zoned-out state.

Upon seeing Sunoo, you sheepishly smiled.

"Sorry, Sun," You murmured, stepping back a little. He smiled, pausing his game.

"It's fine. You seem a little stressed. Or.. dizzy. Are you about to pass out??" Sunoo lists frantically, suddenly sending a hand flying to your forehead, checking for any temperature.

You flinched away a little, giving a roll of the eyes. "I'm not going to pass out," You said defensively.

Sunoo took his hand away, pouting. "You certainly look distracted. What's up?"

Yunjin and you exchanged glances, considering whether or not to tell him what atrocities was deeply buried in your memory. Sighing, you gestured for him to come closer until you, Yunjin and Sunoo were huddled in a bizarre circle.

"Don't tell anyone, okay?" You blinked at Sunoo.

Too eager to know, he nodded and his gaze was perplexed but curious.

You never imagined having to say these words in your entire life.

"Well, you know how we went out last night?"

Sunoo hums in response, tilting his head.

"Well, we were on the way to get dessert. We tweeted it, remember?"

"Oh, I wasn't really on twitter last night... I didn't see it," Sunoo said, smiling awkwardly. You shrugged and dismissed it.

"It's fine. But we maye have... um... how do i say it... ran over a dead body and... you know, we had to call a police-."

"I'm sorry, what!?" Sunoo exclaimed, startling both you and Yunjin. She shushed him, a finger on her lips and glaring slightly.

Sunoo covered his mouth, apologetic before he uncovered it.

"A dead body. Are you being for real?" Sunoo whispered in the little huddle. Yunjin nodded, shuddering a little.

"We called the police obviously... and we were let go." You sighed, playing with your hair a little. Though, Sunoo couldn't get the startled look out of his expression. It stayed firmly in his eyes.

"That's crazy. I can't... believe it," Sunoo muttered, stepping back from the huddle with concern. You and Yunjin stayed silent for a moment.

"Just don't tell anyone, Sunoo. I don't think we need people to look and point fingers at us." Yunjin sighed, eyeing the crowd around her as if they were discreetly listening.

Sunoo nodded slowly, taking his time to process the events.

In silence, you, Yunjin and Sunoo walk to class, expecting to meet Jungwon and Jay at the top where their designated seats are. But to your surprise, they weren't.

As you and Yunjin were about to follow Sunoo, the professor steps over.

Sunoo glanced over his shoulder quizzically and you stared back with a concerned shrug as to why you and Yunjin are being held up. The curiosity and apprehension bubbled in both you and Yunjin.

The professor smiles awkwardly.

"Miss Choi, Miss Huh, the principal wants to meet you in the office," He said quietly over the half-filled classroom. Although, you could definitely feel one or ten gazes pricking your sides.

"Did he say why?" Yunjin replied.

"I'm afraid not, but I was told to pass the message on."

And you and Yunjin give a little glance to each other, obviously cautious, but the professor ushers you and her away from the class, from Sunoo, who had already sat at his seat.

With the hallways nearly empty now that you and her were pushed out, she turned to you with a snap of a head.

"Are we going to get suspended or something?" She mumbled, looking with wide eyes. You honestly don't know- heck, your mind was still quite cloudy with everything from last night.

The weight of the situation kind of catches up to you. What if it was about last night?

"I... do you think its about last night?" You said whilst walking with Yunjin.

She sighed, puffing her cheeks momentarily as she was buried deep in her thoughts. "It could be. But... what would he say? I mean, the police said we're free to go.."

You thought it was ludicrous to be asked again about last night. You try not to imagine the bridge you're about to cross to re-enter last night's events.

Arriving at the office, there was already a faint mutter within. Yunjin gave a polite knock and, after a few moments, the door opened for them.

Inside, Jay and Jungwon were already seated on one of the couches, bodies tensed up. Yunjin and you blink a few times before seating yourselves on the opposite side.

Oh, here it goes...

The Principal pushed back his glasses over his elderly eyes and he stands in front of his desk.

"I'm sure you're aware of what happened last night..?"

Everyone hummed in a small response and nod, staring at the principal in silence.

"And I hope you all are okay, right?"

Everyone gave a little murmur of agreement and the principal gave a sympathetic smile. He leaned on his desk, and it looked like he was searching for something to say.

"I'm sure you don't want to remember something so traumatic," The principal started, looking at you. You swallowed down the memory and looked at your fingers.

"And, since the police are investigating it, I'm happy to push this behind us."

Everyone stilled a little bit. You glanced at the principal with a hint of disbelief. You wanted to forget about it.. but you didn't expect the principal himself to throw away the key for you.

And Jungwon gave you a skeptical glance, equally as confused.

"So... you expect us to forget about it? You're telling us not to talk about it?" Jay chimed up with confusion.

The Principal sighed a little, expecting this little arrow of doubt. And he nodded in agreement. "I understand, Jongseong. But, we have a few events and festivals coming up. And I'm sure... you do not want to talk about it.."

Jay stared at the ground, pondering. And everyone considered that not talking about it was the better side of the fence. You didn't want to have that news spread around, but you also hate the paranoia that bit you when you thought about the Janitor's body.

"So, do we agree, dear students? I don't want this to affect your grades if people start bringing it up. Awkward, is it not?" The principal pressed on it even more.

Since no one protested anymore and argued internally, he nodded and smiled at everyone. Though, you know that your friends were all flooded with the same kind of bewilderment you had.

"I know it may be hard to forget. But, the police have told me everything. It's in my greatest confidence that nothing like this will happen again. So, if we are all happy here, you can go now."

When the four were walking to English, no one said anything, the conversation lingering in the air. And it bothered you greatly.

Jay huffed, gripping his backpack a little tighter and scoffed.

"Forget about it? We're just supposed to shut up about it because of the upcoming festival," Jay interjected, clearly astonished.

"Apparantly. What do you expect from Yoreun?" Yunjin uttered, walking along still.

What were you expecting? The police were investigating, they talked to the school and they also tried to reassure you and the others once again. You kept your thoughts spinning and sighed, finding the logic within all this.

"I guess I can't blame them." You said softly, changing your mind from before. Perhaps forgetting was better for you and for the school.

The others looked at you quizzically, eyes stuck on you.

"You can't blame them?" Yunjin chimed, looking forward again, an empty smile on her lips.

"I mean, I don't think I want to talk about it anyway."

Maybe it was because you didn't want the school to email parents, to email your dad that the university his daughter was going to, was being targeted by a killer. Sounded dramatic in your head, but you don't think you could find the energy to actually build a speech to give to your dad to say why you're completely fine where you were.

Jungwon could get what you meant, and he shrugged. "I guess they need their cash. And this festival is their way."

"I guess so- greedy school. How could I forget?" Jay spoke, joking a little bit.

"Still, it feels wrong to just ignore it, you know?" Yunjin said again, the weight of the situation dawning on her. It was a literal murder of someone that went to this school.

Shouldn't there be a few misses days, more police cars around the University campus? But there were no cars shielding the area- it was a normal day.

English literature was as boring as ever. As you typed on your computer and tried to concentrate, you caught a glimpse of Sunoo sneakily on his phone, scrolling through something with blaring headlines.

'Man found brutally murdered'

It caught your eye and you turned your head fully to gently nudge Sunoo. He turned in response and saw your eyes glued to the article.

With a silent exchange, he slid the phone over to you and you immediately read through, putting yourself in the memories of last night again.

It was on the news. Heck, it was trending. You recognised the road and the silent video played, showing a news reporter in front of yellow tapes and roaming officers. You felt like you were there again as you held your breath.

And a picture popped on screen, showing the Janitor's once-alive face, a smile that he once gave you when he opened the door for you.

A shudder crept up your spine as you paused the video and slid the phone back wordlessly.

As much as you wanted to forget, you don't know if you could.

"I'm not going to lie, yn, how are you in school today?" Sunoo chirped up as soon as class ended. His gaze focused on you, but they were concerned.

You shrugged, rubbing your exhausted eyes, not knowing what to rebute his statement with.

"I can't miss class."

"Yeah, but you can't just ignore what happened," He remarked, taking out the white medicine bottle out his bag before packing everything else up.

You packed up as well, and students slowly left their seats in a line. You stared, waiting and noticed Sunoo taking 2 pills this time. And you raised an eyebrow.

"2 pills?" You spoke without thinking, eyeing the white tablets. Sunoo smiled awkwardly and gave a dismissive wave.

"I haven't been sleeping well to be honest," He replied but he was neutral about it as he zipped his bag.

You nodded, letting him do what he needed before turning to the others who were lazily packing up. Your gaze went to Jungwon right next to you as he sighed, eyes focused on his bag and getting his belongings in.

With a quiet voice, you spoke.

"You okay, Jungwon?"

With a quick turn, he glanced at you and sighed, nodding. "Yeah."

He still looked deep in thought despite his clear answer.

The mood was turning heavier, clouding that positivity you were trying to hook on to. So, understandably, you try initiate a joke, you know, to smoothe out this thick gloom hanging over the friend group.

"At least no one knows you're in your hit and miss phase-."

Before you could finish the sentence, his finger collided with your forehead to give a stinging sensation at your temple. You hissed, whining as you recoiled back a little bit.

"Jungwon, what the fvck?" You snapped at him, holding your forehead as if you were hit with a stone. Though, he gave a little shrug, that look of smugness creeping in his unbothered smile.

"Stop making these stupid jokes. They're ass," he spoke, tilting his chin up and ignoring the glare you threw him.

Though, you couldn't argue for long before psychology was in about 5 minutes. So, without getting your desired revenge, you waved by to the others and walked to psychology.

How you managed to balance the two was still unknown. It took a lot of all-nighters, coffee and a dream.

Upon entering psychology, the teacher hadnt arrived, meaning you could actually settle down before the class started drilling information in.

Of course, you sat next to Minji, Heeseung and Chaewon; they sat at the back, conversing in their own little circle, particularly interested in Chaewon's phone.

"Hey, guys," You greeted them with a small smile. Minji ushered you over and so you listened, hunching over the phone to see what they were so deeply invested in.

And your heart sank a little, seeing the familiar face of the Janitor loom on the screen and your heart shook a little. Today was just not going in your favour.

Though, the other 3 were silent- even Heeseung- until the video ended and he sighed, letting out a puff of air. Minji and Chaewon have this blank look in their eyes, but Chaewon grabs your hand, tugging you to sit down.

"Have you heard about it? It's literally all over the news," Chaewon said, eyes doe in shock.

Oh girl, you have no idea, you thought.

"That's so crazy, I swear I have seen him somewhere before," Minji commented, sat back in her seat and she was dazed.

"Well yeah, the news reporter said he worked here as the Janitor." Heeseung ruffled his hair.

Your eyes were downcast for a moment before you chewed on your lower lip.

"Have you heard about it, Yn?" Heeseung chimed, focusing on your docile state.

But, you snapped out of it, ignoring the foggy thoughts in your head. "Yeah... I have heard of it. But let me tell you guys a secret."

They all turned to you, intruiged and you leaned forward, concealing the conversation to this inner circle.

"What secret?" Minji urged on, her eyes brimming with curiosity. And it seemed that Heeseung and Chaewon also leaned in.

You took a deep breath and told yourself, you could trust them.

"I was there. You know the tweets last night about how Jungwon ran over something?" You turned to Heeseung.

With a nod, he urged on, but you felt like he already knew.

"Well, it wasn't just anything. It... was him. The Janitor. We found him last night," You said slowly, hiding the tremor in your voice.

The silence hung in the air, all of them processing it but Chaewon's jaw dropped a little before she let out a forced puff of air.

"You're kidding. Are you being serious?"

"That's why you couldn't get me ice cream.." Heeseung mumbled, distraught. And Minji scowled.

"Will you shut up about the ice cream?"

"Yeah, it's kind of embarrassing considering your tweets last night," Chaewon grumbled, reminding Heeseung of his little series of grateful confessions

"Never. I was anticipating that. I didn't know that would happen," He defensively exclaimed and you gestured to him to keep the sound down.

Right now, the news didn't say who found the bodies, so you would like to keep it that way, locked away from the world.

"Yeah. We were en route to the dessert shop when... we found it. We went home straight after."

"Which is understandable. Oh my gosh, you saw a dead body... of someone who worked here..." Minji added on and she gave a little reassuring pat on the arm.

You smiled softly, hiding how your mind was still buzzing with the images of the grotesque body.

"Yeah... me and Jungwon uncovered it but..." you shuddered a little, failing to hide the shiver sweeping your body. All of them were obviously concerned but Heeseung sighed.

"Me personally, I would never think about going to dessert shops ever again," He said, eyes widening. And the girls glared at him with a slow turn onf their heads, to which he shrunk back in his seat with a guilty smile.

He didn't try to save himself, but you smiled at his comment. Because you think it's true- you would think more than twice before trying to go to a dessert shop and not expect to think of this moment.

Sighing, you patted the girls' arms and you huddled in again.

"Just... don't tell anyone. Please." You looked to them, eyes landing on Heeseung. And he nodded, as he glanced down.

"Don't worry about it."

Chaewon hugged your arm, pouting with her concern rising in her grip. "Don't worry about the death either. I'm pretty sure it's a one-time thing."

Everyone murmured in agreement, attempting to drain the tension surrounding the news. You were somewhat grateful they were trying, and it worked for a few seconds as your muscles relaxed.

"Yeah, it has to be a coincidence... we have that fundraising festival coming up. I don't think the school would want to cancel it." Heeseung reassured your composure.

"Yeah... a coincidence." You heard yourself mutter, once again sensing your own uneasiness.

THE THURSDAY MORNING YOU WENT BACK INTO SCHOOL WAS PEACEFUL.

Yunjin was at dance club this early in the morning, so you were walking into campus by yourself. English was in a few minutes, and so you decided to go pick her up from the dance studio.

You tried to drop the idea of the murder circulating on the news and sauntered through the halls whilst you gripped your phone.

Students chattered normally as you checked your phone, seeing an email saying, 'CLUBS'.

Curious, you tapped on it and it ended up saying how sign-ups for the clubs were happening tomorrow. It would allow some extracurricular activities which would 'bedazzle' someone's resumΓ©, and also would help out at the fundraiser happening some point this month.

You sighed, shutting off your phone only to see the same exact message on the main school bulletin board, the poster summarising better than the email.

Perhaps a club wasn't so bad. Maybe it could decorate your skills. You shrugged and sauntered to the busy dance studio.

Music blared from inside, the melody becoming more audible the more you neared the doors. The Thursday sounded much more energetic that what you felt on this school morning.

Not 5 minutes after, the music absfuptly stopped; she came out whilst zipping up her crimson jacket and waving to you with an eye-smile.

"Let's go~," Yunjin sang and pulled you along with her.

"How do you even get energy to dance in the morning?" You sighed. She replied with a chuckle.

"Well, we have no other time where our schedules line up. I know Kazuha has law when we finish English," Yunjin said casually, and she started talking about her dance and the moves they were doing.

You were listening intently, you really were. However, you were pulled away from the course of the conversation when you saw a few intrusive gazes pricking your figure. Not just yours, but also Yunjin.

Glancing around, you then heard the whispers passing by the students and your heart felt a sting of anxiety. What the hell were they looking at?

"Yun?" You snapped her out of her talk, making her glimpse at your concerned expression.

"Call me crazy, but is everyone staring at us?" You asked her quietly, shying away from the gazes of others. With a swift look, she did indeed see that people were glimpsing at you and her, as if to confirm your identity before falling into complete shock.

"Yeah, you're not crazy. It's happening. But why..?" Yunjin replied, voice shrinking down as you listened. You gave a shrug and headed over to English, trying to block out the not-so subtle stares.

At least they could have been more secretive about it- this whole attention caused the type of warmth in your cheeks that came from humiliation. Something you loathed feeling.

Yunjin pretended not to notice as she linked arms with yours, wanting to also move on with the day without her ears tinting pink. You appreciated her comforting touch, and walked towards the English classroom.

Not before you turned a corner and bumped into someone. More like 2 people- ones that made you scowl.

Minhee and Han.

Both of them returned an insipid glare, making you step back from them, and Yunjin rolled her eyes.

"Well, well, well... if it isn't Yn... surprised to see you here," Minhee started, voice dipped in venom in an attempt to intimidate you.

Turns out that even university kids could be absolute pricks with their personalities being more thorny than ever.

With a sigh, you quirked an eyebrow at this sudden statement. "What do you want?"

"Hey- don't get sassy on me, I just wasn't expecting to bump into you and Yunjin."

Yunjin clicked her tongue, grinding her teeth before speaking. "What the fvck is that supposed to mean? Why wouldn't we be in school?"

Minhee and Han give a little face of realisation, fake epiphany as they looked at each other with a secret conversation between their eyes. Han turned to you, to both of you, to reply.

"I mean, after all that, I wonder why the school let you come back." Han smirked a little, causing the confusion to cloud your fraught thoughts.

"What do you mean?" You glared at him again with confusion. What did they even mean by that? What could they possibly be thinking of that made them conclude you wouldn't be allowed back at school?

Minhee chuckled and crossed her arms, brown eyes scanning yours meticulously to see that you were genuinely lost at sea from their words. Sighing, she stopped grinning.

"Don't act dumb. You were at the crime scene, right?" Minhee accused.

Your heart froze a little and Yunjin visibly stilled as if she wasn't breathing. With bewilderment, you just stared at Minhee.

This must be a joke...

"That must mean, yes?"

"How did you even hear-?"

"People talk," Minhee abruptly said, cutting you off. She scoffed. "Like you talked, didn't you?"

Fvck. Your eyes flickered, remembering you told Minji, Chae and Heeseung yesterday. It was the matter of which one actually revealed it. You still stayed silent, and you could feel Yunjin staring at you.

"Who the fvck told you anyway?" You snapped back at her, making her glare momentarily.

"Who? I heard it start in the computer science majors. They seemed hot about the topic, and I just couldn't help but stop by their table. And they mentioned the crime scene."

Now who the fvck was in computer science and how did they attain the information you passed on? The regret bit back at you harshly, gnawing at your brain as you kept your teeth clenched.

"Yn, you told someone?" Yunjin asked softly, not mad, but rather a bit apprehensive.

"I.. I told Minji, Chaewon and...." you stopped talking, and then your fists clenched.

"Heeseung."

For the life of him, Heeseung could never sew his mouth shut- why did you even trust him? He may not tell a throng of people through a megaphone, but he would run his mouth to one of his other mates in the other classes.

The betrayal anchored you a little before feeling your own fingers fiddle with the corroded surface of your green nails.

"I mean, why the school let you in? They haven't even completed the investigation and you're back in school? That's bizarre," Han added on, pondering with insincerity.

The urge to cuss at them shot up exponantially, but you kept your lips shut and now, you just want to get to class without the mass of people throwing their arrows of accusation at you.

"Maybe because we didn't do it?" you retorted to the two. They didn't make sense- at all. Oh gosh, this was everything you didn't want in the week.

Minhee and Han struggle to stop smiling and their grins stay prominent.

"Oh please, you just conveniently found a dead body?" Minhee taunted, stepping forward a little. You're not wavering and you stood your ground with the firm glare.

"Unfortunately so. But we didn't do it. There's no evidence to point to that. Thought you should know that from how much you run your mouth about taking law," you remarked, the bitterness stinging your tone.

Her gaze flashed with plain irritation at your words. "Watch your words with me- what are you? Some psychologist? A poet? I could be the one ruining your life later on."

"From what? Get a grip, Minhee," you muttered back to her, not leaving any stone of your anger unturned. Han and Yunjin watched whilst you and Minhee give verbal rebuttal to each other.

"Watch it, yn. You're getting so mad over the truth," Minhee scoffed, tilting her head. And it did piss you off, your chest tightening with curses and frustration.

"Well guess what? We're not suspects, none of us are."

And you nudge past her shoulder with Yunjin before turning around and saying one more snide remark.

"Oh, and no one likes lawyers anyway."

After that eventful affair of texting, you and Yunjin finally made your way to English. No doubt that people were staring at you, and unfortunately, the twitter post actually blew up.

So, you and Yunjin only attracted whispers and gazes as if you and her were magnets for drama.

Pulling silently on Yunjin's hand, you climbed the steps and went to your designated seat next to Jungwon and Sunoo. With the same bewildered gaze, Jungwon turned to you discreetly.

"So... everyone knows." Jungwon breathed next to you. You felt the tickle in your ear, but you were so anchored by the stress, that sensation was crushed.

"Yeah... I may have told my psychology friends."

"Yn, are you serious?" Jungwon raised an eyebrow, rosy lips in a slight frown.

"But, wait- i told them not to tell anyone," you remarked quietly before he could even let that anger hit you. Jungwon scoffed, looking briefly back at his computer.

"And how did that go because now we're trending on twitter." Jungwon gave a stern side-eye, to which you pursed your lips.

Regretfully.

You sighed before grabbing your laptop and nodding. "Look, I fvcked up because I told Heeseung. On that note, hold on."

You grabbed your phone from your pocket, and your main goal was to hunt down where the heck Heeseung was to have a courteous and firm conversation.

The cafeteria was a nice place to relax after class, and you practically ran to the usual corner to avoid people's stares. It was like the walk of shame going through those hallways, even though you and the others haven't done anything remotely wrong- you guys weren't even suspects.

Even with that reassuring conclusion, your fingers couldn't held pick at your lip, peeling off the dried skin and then eliciting a sting in your flesh. And your nails were eroding from their pretty green colour.

Though, you didn't wince, you simply sat down and melted into the grey couch, and so did the others. Yunjin was next to you, leaning on your shoulder, and the boys were on the opposite side.

"I'm sorry, guys. I shouldn't have told Heeseung..."

Jay kind of snickers and shrugs, whilst Jungwon played with the sleeves of his black hoodie.

"I mean, it was bound to happen. You just catalysed it," Jay said, glancing at you for a moment, a small grin on his face.

Still, even if it was inevitable, your skin crawled with guilt: yesterday, you wanted to fully forget about it, but now it was practically being shoved in your face by other students because of your careless action. Not just you, but to all your friends.

"Not the day i imagined to be having," Yunjin chimed, looking at her phone, seeing that the 'meya' user got about five thousand interactions with her exposing post.

Meaning that five thousand (and more) saw you tell Minhee to kill herself.

You groaned into your hands, body slipping and slouching down the couch in pure embarrassment. The others chuckled.

"I mean, if you're worried about Minhee, she's a bitch anyway. That tweet was pretty deserved to her," Jay said, looking at his phone and snickering at the screen.

"Yeah, I know she is, but I acted out of impulse." You sighed, uncovering your face. Jungwon peered at you, mischief sparkling in his eyes.

"For once," Jungwon scoffed, giving a small smirk at you. Raising an eyebrow, you glared at him.

"What's that supposed to mean? You find it funny?"

"I mean yeah- you never go off on people like that. But this time you did, it's actually amusing."

Yunjin and Jay rolled their eyes at this arising bicker, already sensing the series of pointless insults about to be thrown.

"Are you saying I'm not funny right now?" You sat up in your seat, crossing your arms, to which Jungwon tilted his head, hid black locks sweeping over his head. And it made you want to grab his hair-.

Woah- that's another impulsive thought. Your neck crept with an unfamiliar heat.

"You said it, not me. You're kind of stuck-up, robotic, if you ask me," Jungwon remarked, the smug smile never leaving his festures even thought it was small. With a scowl, you glared more.

"Robotic? Bruh, I'm logical. There's a difference."

"Yet they sound the same coming from you," Jungwon retorted, challenging your word. If you weren't infuriated before, you were now. You saw him cross his arms, tipping his chin up at you in confidence.

As if he dared you to even talk back to him.

Before you could even throw another insult, Yunjin held you back. "Have you guys heard about the clubs?"

"Ah right, I mean it doesn't matter to us. We have dance," Jay said, finally remembering the email sent to everyone this morning.

You glanced at Jay and Yunjin, envious that they did have something to call their hobby.

"I want to join a club, but I don't know which one? It helps us look better," You said, giving one last glare to Jungwon as he rolled his eyes.

"I can help you find out tomorrow once the sign-up begins," Yunjin suggested, lifting her eyes to meet yours. Giving a smile, you nodded.

Whilst that talk went on with what clubs to even take, your phone vibrated in your pocket.

You excused yourself and stood up, taking your phone along and stood in a much quieter corner of the cafeteria and saw the screen before answering it.

"Hi, Abba." You chimed into the phone, already having a hint of what was about to happen.

"Hm- yn? Can you hear me?"

"Yes, I can hear you." you chuckled softly. He clearly wasn't used to the call system on his phone. Your dad hummed in response, but he didn't laugh back.

"I called you because I heard that there was a really bad murder around the area? Are you okay- what happened?" Your dad asked repeatedly, bombarding you with questions, his worry becoming evident.

"Oh, you do know?"

"How would I not? It's all over the news, yn." Your dad sighed over the phone, already sensing his prickling stress.

"Okay, yeah there was a murder around," you breathed, and you bit back your tongue on telling that you and your friends were the ones to actually find the body.

If he found out that you discovered the body, he wouldn't hesitate to talk your ear off and coddle you with his protection; you know he would mean well, but that meant going back home instead of staying at your apartment with Yunjin.

"Why do you sound so casual. Apparantly he worked at your university- do you know how dangerous that is?" You heard him ramble on anxiously.

"Abba, I know. But the police are investigating it, okay? Nothing bad will happen to me," You reassured him, talking softly. Though you could sense your father's lingering worry over you.

"I know, but I don't want you to get hurt, okay?"

"Hm, I know. I won't get hurt," you said, smiling into the phone.

"Well, keep me updated. You know how much I care for your wellbeing," he said, voice soft and it pulled at your heartstrings.

"I promise to keep you updated."

"Okay... have a good day at school," your father said before ending the call.

With your shoulders deflating, you relaxed; that went much better than you expected. It wasn't as histrionic as you thought it would be and he took it well. At least.

Walking back to the others, Yunjin quirked an eyebrow. "Who was that?"

"My dad. He found out, about the whole incident" You answered her, plopping to the couch again and sighing.

"Does he know you and Jungwon found it?" Jay looked at you. Everyone glanced, and you only shook your head slightly.

"I know he would freak if he knew so I just told him there's nothing to worry about." You saw them fall silent a little. Yunjin lifted her gaze to you again.

"You sure? What if he finds out but not from you?" She uttered, leaning onto your arm again. It was a possible option, but you blocked that thought out your head.

"I hope not. And I'll keep it that way."

When you arrived to the cafe, it was quite busy since customers were scattered everywhere. You thought you would get a break just before starting, but that didn't happen.

Briskly walking to the back, you waved to Jimin and Taehyung, who gave a brief wave whilst arguing, and you went into the staff room to collect your brown apron.

When you tied back your hair, Mia, the general manager of the cafe was gathering her stuff, putting her apron off as she sent a smile.

"I'm off. Good luck with the two idiots," Mia said, referring to the two men arguing at the counter.

"Yeah, thanks, Mia." You sighed and walked out with her to the front counter where Taehyung was mumbling something and Jimin whirled around from where he was making coffee, and pointed a finger at him.

"Say that to my face, Taehyung, because you're shit at whispering," Jimin sneered, causing Taehyung to scowl before going to the till and taking someone's order.

You waved bye to Mia and then walked to the two.

"Good afternoon, you two," you said, walking to the bunch of papers at the corner of the counter. Jimin and Taehyung stopped fighting and bowed slightly with sudden cheerful looks.

"'Afternoon, manager," Jimin chimed as he cleaned the counter from some spilt coffee. You scoffed.

"Don't call me manager, makes me sound serious."

"Well you are, you just check on the face quality over our lovely cafΓ©." Taehyung smiled.

The two were older than you, bickered a lot more, but they took care of you so much. You don't know why the two of them rejected the front of house manager position, but since they rejected it, you gladly took it as a way for extra money.

However, that meant having to work on late evenings on weekdays, which always left a little cloud of sadness over your head at the end of the day.

"Yeah, but it's not much. Anyway, when is Eunchae getting here? I was going to train her," you said, lifting your gaze from the papers and tapping your pen repeatedly on the surface.

Jimin looked around, and then his eyes lit up as he pointed towards the door, seeing a girl with black hair, doe eyes and a shy smile on her face.

You perked up, sending a smile to Eunchae. Another fun thing of possessing the 'manager' title, you get to train the new baristas or waitresses that signed up for it.

The 3 of you at front introduced yourself to her and she was just as polite. With her in your supervision, the day quickly moved on, the sky tainted a dark blue already, the sun long gone past the buildings as the street lamps shimmered.

Taehyung and Jimin were talking as they cleaned the coffee machines, whilst you were crouching in the floor, checking the stock and pots.

Eunchae brought a ladder, perching it next to you as she climbed up to get to the jars on the higher shelves.

"Thanks, Eunchae, just refill them for me," you said without looking, too busy in the pots beneath the counter.

Sighing to yourself, you kept looking at your phone, wondering when Yunjin would come and accompany you to the route home.

All the while, you continued shuffling the pots on the floor, and you felt all was peaceful.

Though, within a second, you gasped when a soft, grainy shower of powder floated onto your head. Out of instinct, you braced yourself, covering your hair, but feeling your nose tickle from the sudden substance submerging your whole face.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, Yn!" Eunchae gasped from above you, stepping down the ladder.

Briskly, you wiped your eyes and face, standing up slowly and turning with a dismissive wave of your hand. Raking a hand through your hair, you tried to blink.

"It's fine," you uttered, smiling weakly and tasting chunks of flour on your lips. But you could see Eunchae clearly distressed.

What you didn't expect to hear was Yunjin's shrill laughter along with someone else echoing through the empty cafΓ©.

Instantly, you turned and your heart dropped when you saw Jungwon and Yunjin bursting into laughter, doubling over as they held their stomachs. The embarrassment flooded your cheeks as you quickly bent down behind the counter to conceal the shame that was your newly-white face.

And you're pretty sure Taehyung and Jimin were laughing to their heart's core, but you were utterly shocked.

"Shut up!" You snapped at all of them. They ignored you as Yunjin looked over the counter.

"I'm so glad you asked me to come today," she said, giggling. Jungwon saw you over the counter, bringing his phone in your face.

"Don't you dare take a photo of me!" You yelled, covering your face with your hands, aware that there was still some flour all over your face.

Though it was too late when the sound of the camera shutter went off, and you were horrified, immediately standing and trying to tackle for Jungwon's phone over the counter. In defense, he stepped back, still chuckling and showing the photo to Yunjin.

"Oh my gosh, Jungwon, delete it!" You exclaimed, exasperated at this. Your friends laughing at you after a long day of work was not something you needed.

Eunchae crept up to you again, bowing a full ninety degree angle and profusely apologising with red embarrassment across her cheeks.

"I'm so sorry," she meekly said, and you smiled at her with a face of white, and shook your head in another dismissal, even if you wanted to climb over the counters and whack your friends with a mug.

Yunjin and Jungwon finally stopped laughing, their gaze stuck on his phone before breaking into a fit of giggles. Sending a glare to them, you heard your phone vibrate, and a furious shudder runs along your body.

You're going to kill both of them.

Very ironic of USA (+Europe, UK) if u ask me

When the rest of the world looks at the united states right now, we see a government who sends billions to support genocide but cannot help their own people starving on the streets.

We see a police force who won't go in to save children from school shootings, but deploy at a rapid rate to arrest peaceful protestors using their right to free speech to protest a genocide

America, you are a war mongering snake eating your own tail. You will protect and support war criminals in another country but let your own people starve and die

To the students bravely protesting now, we see your strength. We see what we saw when students protested the Vietnam War. We have faith you will prevail
